Auf seinem neuen Album befinden sich die "Jahreszeiten" von Tschaikowsky. Sylvia Schreiber hat mit Bruce Liu gesprochen und gefragt, wie der November so für ihn in Kanada ist.

Der kandische Pianist Bruce ist für Konzerte in Regensburg, München und Nürnberg beim Münchener Kammerorchester zu Gast. 2021 gewann der inzwischen 26-Jährige Liu den Chopin-Wettbewerb in Warschau. Für ihn ist Chopin der "Dichter des Klaviers".

C'est l'une des grandes révélations pianistiques de ces dernières années. Et pour cause: il vient de remporter en 2021 le Concours international Chopin de Varsovie, qui n'a lieu qu'une fois tous les cinq ans – un gage objectif d'excellence. De son nom complet Bruce Xiaoyu Liu, le pianiste sino-canadien de 25 ans s'est déjà fait un nom, notamment à Montréal, où il a déménagé avec sa famille alors qu'il n'avait que six ans et où il a accompli l'ensemble de ses études. Il débute à Gstaad dans un programme qui fait (forcément) la part belle à Chopin – dont un premier disque «live» sorti chez Deutsche Grammophon documente la connaissance très intime –, mais également à Bach (en mode français), Liszt (dans des teintes lyrico-virtuoses) et aux très délicats Miroirs de Maurice Ravel, emblématiques de la période impressionniste du musicien français.
