In this first episode of the new year and first episode of this series, I explore more of the nerdier side of things and that is comic books. We've all heard Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderman, Superman, etc. But what about Lion Man? Ace Harlem? Lobo? Luke Cage, Black Panther? Spawn? These are just some of the most influential black comic book characters that we in the black community have come to appreciate. We talk about the origin of black superheroes, the first Black comic book, how it lead to the creation of black superheroes in comics and how those creations have lead to the landscape we have today of Black Comic book characters. I also talk about my favorite Black Comic book characters and my favorite non-Black Comic book character (who, in a sense, can relate to the Black struggle). So, kick off your shoes, relax your feet, and enjoy listening to this episode on MLK Day! Sweet Christmas! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jamar-burke/message
