What if the darkest valley of your life became the very place God met you face-to-face? In this powerful and deeply personal episode of Contagious Influencers of America, chart-topping Christian artist Tasha Layton pulls back the curtain on the pain, healing, faith, and redemption that shaped her journey—from a suicide attempt and seasons of doubt to becoming one of today's most influential voices in Christian music. Before she toured the world with Katy Perry, appeared on American Idol, and topped the Christian charts with hits like How Far, Look What You've Done, and Worship Through It, Tasha walked through valleys she never imagined she'd survive. Today, she joins host nine-time Emmy winner David Sams to share the real stories behind her brand-new album Life in Me, including the raw and hope-filled anthem Meet Me in the Valley, as well as her joyful new holiday single Christmas All Year Long, now streaming on the Christmas Wish Channel and KeepTheFaith Radio. In this conversation, Tasha opens up about: ·         The emotional roots of Meet Me in the Valley and how God met her in her darkest moments ·         How childhood wounds shaped her identity—and the breakthrough that helped her heal ·         Why Scripture, spiritual discipline, and community are essential in seasons of grief or fear ·         The story behind her playful Christmas single and her family's festive traditions ·         Her leap of faith from college professor to full-time recording artist ·         The redemptive patterns she sees now that she could never understand in the moment If you're walking through heartbreak, battling doubt, or searching for encouragement this season, Tasha's testimony will remind you that you are never too far gone, and God meets you even in the valley. This is an episode full of faith, honesty, laughter, and life-changing perspective. Stay until the end for a heartfelt message of hope for anyone struggling through the holidays—and learn how you can join the Christmas Wish movement to help families with gas, groceries, and the basics that bring real joy. Subscribe now to Contagious Influencers of America for more inspiring conversations with artists, leaders, and world changers.

I have as well, and we look at a few Guinness World Records involving advent calendars. This episode's recommendation is Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer: Gone Fishing.  It's a lovely show, and you don't have to be interested in fishing to enjoy it. They've also got some nice Christmas specials (that weren't filmed anywhere near Christmas). It's on the BBC iplayer, but it's on other streaming sites as well, so check it out.Get in touch:Email: totalchristmas@gmail.comWeb: totalchristmaspodcast.comMerry Christmas!

We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2021 conversation with Steve Perry. ABOUT STEVE PERRYOne of the most iconic voices in rock music history, Steve Perry is best known as the lead singer of the band Journey during the group's most successful period. His first Top 20 pop hit as either a performer or songwriter was the solo-written “Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin',” which became a hit for the band in 1979. In the following decade he co-wrote an unbelievable streak of classic songs with Neil Shon and Jonathan Cain, including “Any Way You Want It,” “Who's Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways,” ”Send Her My Love,” and “Don't Stop Believin',” a single that's been certified five times platinum. His 1984 debut solo album Street Talk produced the classic singles “Oh Sherrie” and “Foolish Heart.” After penning additional Journey hits “Be Good to Yourself,” “Girl Can't Help It,” and “I'll be Alright Without You” he departed the band and released his second solo album, For the Love of Strange Medicine, featuring the single “You Better Wait.” After briefly reuniting with Journey and co-writing the additional hits “When You Love a Woman” and “Message of Love” in the mid-1990s, he stepped away from recording. Steve returned in 2018 with his third solo album, Traces. In 2021 he released his fourth solo record, a holiday collection called The Season, produced by Steve and Thom Flowers, and featuring contributions from multi-instrumentalist Dallas Kruse. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, whom Rolling Stone magazine named among the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” joins us to talk about exploring the great American Christmas songbook from a writer's perspective, to share some stories about his own songs, and to offer some insight into his approach to the craft.
