Hi, everybody. George is joined by Mike Atchison, the host of Mike's Comic Shop Roadshow and cohost of Campus Comics Cast. Mike tells us about his day job and how it provides the opportunity to travel to the comic shops from around the world that he features on his Roadshow podcast. Plus, we talk about some of the touristy things he does. In addition to showcasing comic shops on his show, Mike asks the shop owners to recommend a book for him to purchase and review with guests in the second part of each episode. Of course George had to turn the tables and ask Mike to recommend a book for the second part of this episode and that book is the recent post-Krakoan age X-Men #1 (that part of the conversation begins at 1:09:54). As fate would have it, Mike had recorded an episode with our friend Eric of Longbox Review not long before he spoke to George. We minimized redundant topics as best we could and coordinated the release of our episodes. You can listen to them in any order to really get to know Mike and become acquainted with his shows. https://longboxreview.com/2024/08/23/a-conversation-with-mike-from-mikes-comic-shop-roadshow/ Follow Mike on X (AKA The Site Formerly Known As Twitter) @MikeAtchison5 and on Bluesky Social @roadshowmike. What inspired us to start writing. How are black creatives breaking down walls in the entertainment industry. Do black creators have a double standard with their fanbases when presenting non-black characters? How did we get to the current status of comics shops and our relationships with them?
