They have been busy expanding the scope of their IP and developing a TTRPG as well as an audio drama based upon the world created in the comic. Pretty amazing right? We touch on the principle theme of failure which drives the characters in the story, especially the main protagonist Dani, and how an open mind towards collaboration has opened doors to new possibilities for their world. Amit discusses his philosophy with embracing failure as a learning tooland how it can be applied to all creative endeavors. Volume Dealer is a new venture started by Dan McDougall and his brother Ando - better known for their roles in Frankenbok and Dreadnaught respectively - which is an online show featuring live music and interviews with the best live bands Melbourne has to offer.While on the surface not an entirely new idea, it is the approach behind Volume Dealer, and, more importantly, the people behind Volume Dealer that makes it quite possibly one of the most exciting and rewarding musical ventures to hit the market for a considerable time.The basic premise is this: Dan records a live set in his studio, asks the band some questions interview style, edits the music and narrative together and publishes the finished product. But that is only scratching the surface of what Volume Dealer offers. Participating bands walk away with high-quality, live footage of them playing in a live setting, footage that can be used for invaluable exposure and promotion.Many bands in the modern age can't afford to outlay money on classy production or studio time, and inevitably lack the polish to keep up with the multitude of bands racing in similar directions. "With, at this stage anyway, Melbourne's finest live bands. We're hoping to take it Australia-wide and have international bands at some stage, but for the time being we'll just focus on Melbourne bands."Although an in depth project with many moving parts, we ask Dan to simplify what Volume Dealer offers."We're going to get bands in to the studio, film them and record them live," he explained, "for anywhere between five and seven songs and then after the live sets done I'll then sit down with one of the members and interview them for a little bit. Then we just take all that footage and compile it into an episode and at this stage the format is we do a song and then a little bit of interview and then a song and a little bit of interview and so on. We had our first episode come out today, and I'm really happy with how it's all turned out. The point of the show is to be a promotional vehicle not only for the bands but for us as well, to showcase what we all do and hopefully make a bit of money in the process."In the full interview, Dan elaborated on the show's format, which includes filming live performances and conducting interviews with band members, and expressed his excitement about the positive reception it has garnered. This project has been a long-standing aspiration for Dan, reflecting his deep passion for capturing the essence of live music and providing a platform for local talent.The conversation highlighted the technical challenges Dan faces in achieving high-quality audio while maintaining the authenticity of live performances. He emphasized the importance of minimizing bleed and preserving spontaneity in the studio environment. As the project progresses, Dan said he is pleased with the advancements made in addressing these technical issues, which are crucial for delivering a polished yet genuine representation of the bands' performances. “The complete package!” is how Tim Draxl has been described for his performance as Joe Gillis in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's musical Sunset Boulevard, currently playing at the Sydney Opera House. That part is just the latest in a long line of Tim's roles in his 20-plus year career which has garnered him nominations for AACTAs, Logies, and a Helpmann Award. On stage he has appeared in musicals such as Jagged Little Pill, Into the Woods and Catch Me If You Can. He is a familiar face on TV, most particularly for his long running role in A Place to Call Home, and more recently the ABC series about the Australian response to the AIDS crisis, In Our Blood. His films include Swimming Upstream and Blacklight among many others. He's also no stranger to cabaret, and has released four albums. Tim takes us through his career from budding cabaret performer, through his time in Hollywood and to his most recent roles. He candidly shares the story of coming out publicly, his embrace of which has led him to be a part of several ground-breaking productions and being an inspiration for many LGTBQIA+ Australians, young and old. The Audi RS5 is closing in on two decades inside Audi's coupe and sedan lineup. Based on the Audi A5, the RS5 follows the same formula as its competition: take a nice, compact executive sedan, and turn it into a brutal track machine. All the while not throwing away its luxurious appointments. While this hopped-up Audi is traditionally competing with legends like the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-AMG C63, the move to crossovers has changed the A5 and the RS5's scale. Still, this latest RS5 packs a 2.9-liter V6 under the hood that sends 444 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission and into the famed Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Making things even more interesting, Audi will sell this with a pair of doors, or as a four-door sedan that features a lift-back cargo opening. Arizona metal outfit Incite recently released their sixth album Wake Up Dead.Featuring Richie Cavalera on vocals – who is, of course, the son of Soulfly vocalist Max Cavalera – Incite are a brutally heavy band who somehow manage to up the intensity levels with each release.Despite the temptation of utilizing his Stepfathers extensive network to ensure an easier passage in music, Richie has preferred to let his own talent and vision become the focal point of Incite, rightfully believing the band was deserving of any success that comes heir way.Richie joined HEAVY to chat about the new album."We're a heavy metal band out of Phoenix, Arizona,” Richie introduced the band. “We got six records out. This is our latest, Wake Up Dead. “It's bad ass; it's raw; dynamic; it's fresh and it's heavy as fuck man. It's just pure, beautiful, good heavy metal with some punk hardcore aspects to it and thrash. It's rippin'"With Wake Up Dead coming out earlier this month, Richie says the early reception from fans and people in the music industry has been nothing short of humbling."It's been incredible,” he gushed. “We got back into what we do best on this record and that's tuning up, ripping solos, brutal drums, bass and vocals and lyrics that rally touch the soul. I think this record is a complete insight from the five new tracks to the five old songs that we put on this for everybody to have this rebirth; this revitalization after this two years of nothing from music. We're stoked about it. It's a good picture of who we are as a band."In the full interview, Richie talks more about the album musically, how it combines the past, present and future of Incite sonically, having to wait over 18 months for the album to be released and how that impacted the band, the three singles already released and if they are a good representation of the album as a whole, experiencing with acoustic guitars on the song Mental Destruction and how difficult it was to get the balance right, having max guest on the song War Souls, how much he has influenced Richie musically, future plans and more.
