Almost four years after *Rituals*, Levente's new album *The Ray Bradbury Chronicles* takes inspiration from the legendary wordsmith and follows an “old-fashioned” approach to musical storytelling. Joining the ranks of labels that support Sequences, Other Side Audio showcases the esteemed artist Craig Padilla with *The Pulse Of Life*, a vast musical composition created on the Mattson Modular synthesiser and Xan Alexander's *Qurorobos 2*, presenting syncopated rhythms and soundscapes that serve as a backdrop for rising and dancing melodies. Rubod & Stroudinsky, helmetgirl, mėlyna, Adrián Berenguer, Kraftwerk, Morus, Robert Schroeder, Ceramic, Edouard Ferlet, Mindmovie, Craig Padilla & Marvin Allen. Consider the guitar, spacefans. it's arguably our most ubiquitous instrument. These days, it comes in many varieties: acoustic and electric, folk and classical, nylon and steel string, slide and electronic—to name a few. And when it comes to creating ambient music, the kind of guitar matters quite a bit. Acoustic guitar tends toward classic tunings and slow tempos, with conservative use of effects; electric guitar is almost the opposite, with aggressive use of effects, feedback, and modifiers. And though the results vary widely, it's still recognizable as a guitar. But with the electronic guitar, you might never know the sound came from a guitar at all—the instrument has been redefined, dematerialized, and effectively disappeared. The guitar becomes a playable "user interface"—a familiar way to control synthesizers and other electronics. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, the evolving world of the ambient guitar, on a program called TRANSLUCENT GUITARS. Music is by TOM CAUFIELD, COLIN EDWIN & JON DURANT, CRAIG PADILLA & MARVIN ALLEN, JOHN GREGORIUS, DARSHAN AMBIENT, ROBIN GUTHRIE, HAMMOCK, CARL WEINGARTEN, JUHA-MATTI RAUTIAINEN, JEFF PEARCE, and DELAY TACTICS.

Jameson Nathan Jones, The Great Northern, Hendekagon, Dystopiker & Nyppy, Ethereal Planes, The Lovely Moon, AstroPilot & Spacecraft, Meg Bowles, Endless Melancholy, Altus, AES DANA, Suso Saiz, Howard Givens & Craig Padilla, SoLaRiS, Aleks Michalski. As our support for the unjustified war in Ukraine started over a year ago, we decided to feature a few musicians from that country in this latest edition. Zavoloka's experimental work began with that inspiration from British ‘90s electronic music, which is still a key influence for her, but she's expanded into the world of field recordings with strong driving rhythms. You won't necessarily be able to pick out the piano submerged in Endless Melancholy music, but it's there, providing a steady drone, which has a very mellow type ambience. Duo Gamardah Fungus' music and field recording work invokes the sparse open landscapes of Ukraine's rural areas, and they try to reach the enigmatic, viscous and calm atmosphere of the very cosmos. Also in our lineup are some of our favourite names spanning many decades with new releases, including Erik Wollo, Steve Roach, Robert Scott Thompson & Craig Padilla. Vintage music comes from Rolf Trostel's last album ‘Narrow Gate of Life', recorded in 1983 at a live concert in the imposing Romanesque church of St. Pere de Galligants in Girona. Rolf worked with the Hamburg musician inventor and sound tinkerer Wolfgang Palm on the PPG and tested the then-new digital wave computer 360, releasing only four albums and leaving the scene for “private life”. Back in the late 18th and early 19th century, a German doctor named FRANZ MESMER had a far out theory about energy transference between animate and inanimate objects. He called it "animal magnetism." A Scottish doctor named JAMES BAIRD developed the idea and called it "nervous sleep" or "neuro-hypnotism," and later just "hypnosis." The word comes from the Greek hypnos for "sleep" and osis "to put to sleep." These days, thanks to the American Psychological Association, we have a formal definition of hypnosis as "a state of consciousness created by 'hypnotic induction' and characterized by relaxation, focused attention and increased suggestibility, with alterations in perception, sensation, emotion, thought or behavior." Others define it as psychological regression, dissociation, or an altered state of functioning. However you define it, hypnosis has a lot in common with ambient music, which also creates a relaxed state with focused attention. Whether it causes increased suggestibility and altered perception...well, that's up to you. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, electronic music for mental alteration, on a program called HYPNOTRONIC. Music is by ORCHESTRA SOLITAIRE, CHRONOTOPE PROJECT, THIERRY DAVID, HOWARD GIVENS & CRAIG PADILLA, A PRODUCE, PHILLIP WILKERSON, STEVE ROACH, and VIC HENNEGAN. My guests on this episode of "Tones & Drones" are Craig Padilla and Marvin Allen. We will be talking about their second collaboration album called "Strange Gravity". Craig Padilla has proven to be a driving force in the current electronic music scene. He creates electronic music that is rooted in the Berlin School, while still sounding new and interesting. One of the core experiences of ambient and electronic spacemusic is the feeling of weightless floating. These subtle sounds seem to dematerialize us, expand our personal space, and slow our sense of time. It's kind of magical — and for many of us, highly pleasurable, even addictive. Since the introduction of mass-produced electronic instruments in the 1970s, anyone can create floating textures, but even if you're just a listener, the experience is widely enjoyed and often described in therapeutic terms as relaxing, healing, and transformative. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, another anti-gravity journey on electronic waves, on a program called FLOATING WORLDS 2. Music is by PAUL AVGERINOS, ERIK WØLLO, HOWARD GIVENS & CRAIG PADILLA, PHILLIP WILKERSON, and MAX CORBACHO. [ view program page ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

Ahhh, the sweetness of early summer, the balm of warm breezes, the pollen, the allergies. It's a good time for electro-acoustic music with gentle rhythms, soft harmonies and seductive melodies. In a word, something "mellotronic." Now, historians of electronic instruments will tell you that the Mellotron was a tape-based, polyphonic, sample-playback keyboard, developed in England in the early 1960s. The instrument achieved classic status for its key role in popular albums by the Moody Blues and the Beatles, and brought violin, cello, brass, flute and choir sounds to innumerable albums from the Progressive Rock era. These days, every laptop can be a sampler, the original Mellotron sound is a menu choice, and the orchestration of electronic music is open to all. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we revisit the romantic-contemplative side of ambient electronica, on a program called MELLOTRONIC. Music is by PATRICK O'HEARN, LUDOVICO EINAUDI, THIERRY DAVID, CRAIG PADILLA, MICHELE IPPOLITO, and FRANK STEINER, JR. [ view playlist ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

It seems that our podcast no 145 was extremely popular with our listeners going by the stats. Funny enough it was one of Micks shows he enjoyed compiling. Hopefully you will be again enthusiastic to hear what we bring to our latest edition, which brings such a diverse energy of electronic sounds. It was a privilege to bring Clifford Whites music to Sequences, with tracks from his 4 albums in the Synergy series, melodic upbeat & relaxing tunes. Ambient side filled with such dynamics & spacial depth from Astovia, Neostra & going deeper into the dark side with NIMH. Something a little bit different from Craig Padilla with his long term friend Marvin Allen, melodic and rhythmic, surreal and drifting, the result, a timeless adventure through illuminating guitar tonalities and majestic synthesizer vistas. If it’s modular sequencers you want, you are going to enjoy Adrian Beasley’s album Machine Code & d’Voxx arranged Berlin School inspired sequence lines, wrapped up in a gorgeous blanket of modern ambience on the Din label. Lighter sequencing from the prolific composer SpiralDreams. On the ethereal vocals & the symphonic side, check out Xyrion, Neostra & James Asher. The creative signature sound of Saul Stokes. NNYZ? gives us highly detailed textures with glitchy beats & field recordings. On the experimental side the amusing & eclectic Bloop & Quack. Some lovely echoing slightly off-in-the-distance piano excursions played by Whalt Thisney & Tedd Arnolds unique sonic style, edging on the progressive side. Blast from the past comes from the 1974 release Zygoat, composed by American Burt Alcantara with the main musicians on this album Brian Hodgson, Dudley Simpson & John Lewis, performing on ARP and R.S.E synthesizers. Brian & Dudley are known for their background music for various sci fi shows like Doctor Who and Blake's 7, Lewis was a member of the band M that had the huge worldwide hit, Pop Muzik. Expect the unexpected in the music we play, be it sequential to cinematic, ambient to experimental, exploring the unusual too, taxing the senses. Hello possums, welcome to our new edition packed with some class acts in the field of electronic music. It’s been a stressful few days for mick getting this one ready for you, with the mercury touching nearly 40C here in Oz, and the humidity just drains away your energy, It seems this month we’ve had a lot of music in the ambient style again, cosmic to experimental, including some of our favourites who we have known for many decades now, Erik Wollo, Craig Padilla, Forest Fang & Steve Roach among them. A couple of Berlin School excursions from Space Megalithe and Andreas Meyer, with Jack Hertz who has been a prolific musician over years teaming up with Scott Lawlor, another collaboration under his belt. The opening track comes from our Norwegian friend Erik Wollo. 1.49 Erik Wollo ‘Revealed In Time’ (album Visions) http://www.wollo.com 7.45 Erik Wollo ‘Misty Blue’ 14.23 Steve Roach ‘Emotions Revealed’ (album Emotions Revealed) *** www.steveroach.com 26.14 Craig Padilla ’Stonington Moon’ (album Heaven Condensed) www.spottedpeccary.com 35.27 Craig Padilla ‘Heaven Condensed’ *** 46.14 Forest Fang ‘Gone To Ground’ (album The Sleepwalker’s Ocean) http://www.wollo.com 54.25 Forest Fang ‘An Alternate Ocean (The Salton Sea)’ *** 66.18 Space Megalithe ‘Live’ (album Live at The B-Wave Festival Belgium 2015) *** http://mowgli9.wix.com/spacemegalithe 79.35 Wim ’Streams Of Hope’ (album Floating Free) http://www.admusicshop.com 85.15 Wim ‘Harmony Tower’ 90.57 HawkDream ’Space Live 2016 www.blooboymusic.com 101.54 Andreas Meyer ’Spiegelbild’ (album Irrgarten 2) https://kontinuumproductions.bandcamp.com/album/irrgarten 114.34 The Haiku Project ‘The Sea ‘ (album Glimpses) www.haikumusic.dk 119.17 The Haiku Project ‘Glimpses’ 124.12 Alpha Lyra ‘Dancer In Blue’ (album Between Cloud & Sky) http://www.alpha-lyra.net 128.23 Alpha Lyra ‘Before The Storm’ *** 137.46 Scott Lawlor & Jack Hertz ‘Venus (The Lovers)’ (album Nine Spheres) *** https://auralfilms.bandcamp.com 145.07 Scott Lawlor & Jack Hertz ‘The Fixed Stars’ (Faith, Hope, and Love) *** 153.44 Pat Pik ‘Here And Now’ (album Truly Free) https://patpik.bandcamp.com 157.41 Pat Pik ‘Far Off’ 162.04 Franq ‘Kiasmos’ (EP Common Ground) https://franqsmusic.bandcamp.com 165.47 Franq ‘PRNCSS’ Edit ***

Sequences Podcast no49 G’day everyone, Mick’s finally made it down under, mixing with the banana benders, the Queensland residents Based now near Brisbane on the sunshine coast ,although we’ve had some wet days here since I arrived. Lots of new releases being previewed on this issue, from some of our regular musicians who have graced the airways. Unusual these days is a vinyl release from this scene, so dust off those turntables, it’s a new double LP release by Craig Padilla called Sonar, music influenced by the kosmische sound, not available on any other format. We kick off with the new CD from Fanger & Schonwalder, Analog Overdose 5 featuring Lutz Ubrich, the longest track recorded in the back of a car while being driven around Berlin, take it away guys Sequences Podcast no49 Fanger & Schonwalder feat. What a week of hard working does to you... struggling and falling, messing up words coming from the mouth... Fried brains, tired body, sleepy eyes. Maybe it's about time for a good vacation? Indeed! That thought immediately injects us with positive energy so it's the best thing to do right now: focuss on the fun vacation plans. Visiting the UK is one of our plans. June. Higher temperatures. Today's music is a soundtrack that helps you focuss; artists like Ab Ovo, Jon Jenkins, Craig Padilla, Zero Ohms, Skip Murphy, Biosphere, Michael Stearns - the theme 'Cross over' is about the drifting sounds in this mix taking over, no more talk, just music floating back to back. On this show we'd like to thank our sponsors, the Spacemusic HD project is making progress! The brand new Canon HD cam is now in our hands... so we enjoy doing tests and experimenting with all kinds of encoding techniques. The Elgato Turbo H.264 HD has been sent to us to give it a try. Definately a fine piece of equipment that goes well in small spaces: the Turbo encoder is a small USB stick that fits the pocket while travelling and using mobile computers like our Macbook Pro.
