We kick off this edition with Robert Schroeder's new release, ‘Into The Light', drifting away into dream worlds by letting yourself be beamed into other dimensions with space effects, mysterious spheres, deep strings and dreamy melodies. Erik Wollo returns with an assemblage of acoustic guitars. Erik says everything you hear is acoustic, with no synths used on the new album ‘Cloud Of Strings'. One musician who has graced our airwaves many times has been ELEON. His new album is a stunning atmospheric world of divine dimensions with guest musicians, including Grammy-nominated recording artist David Helpling. Polypores returns for his second album on the Din label with ‘Multizonal Mind scramble', a feast of modular textures and syncopated glitchy oscillators that swell and fade into strange sound worlds. On the female side, Lucy Claire produces a fusion of classical cinematic and world influences intertwined with bittersweet piano motifs. Now and again, we like to look back into the past, this time with Airsculpture's first album released in 1995, ‘Impossible Geometries'. In those days, this three-piece band's performances were 100% improvised, greatly influenced by Tangerine Dream of the 70s.

As our support for the unjustified war in Ukraine started over a year ago, we decided to feature a few musicians from that country in this latest edition. Zavoloka's experimental work began with that inspiration from British ‘90s electronic music, which is still a key influence for her, but she's expanded into the world of field recordings with strong driving rhythms. You won't necessarily be able to pick out the piano submerged in Endless Melancholy music, but it's there, providing a steady drone, which has a very mellow type ambience. Duo Gamardah Fungus' music and field recording work invokes the sparse open landscapes of Ukraine's rural areas, and they try to reach the enigmatic, viscous and calm atmosphere of the very cosmos. Also in our lineup are some of our favourite names spanning many decades with new releases, including Erik Wollo, Steve Roach, Robert Scott Thompson & Craig Padilla. Vintage music comes from Rolf Trostel's last album ‘Narrow Gate of Life', recorded in 1983 at a live concert in the imposing Romanesque church of St. Pere de Galligants in Girona. Rolf worked with the Hamburg musician inventor and sound tinkerer Wolfgang Palm on the PPG and tested the then-new digital wave computer 360, releasing only four albums and leaving the scene for “private life”. Back to our usual edition for this month with a look at the latest releases. From Lisa Bella Donna's crystalline images on the modular synthesizer systems to Harald Nies classic electronic music with space-rock elements. Erik Wollo's single, an EP of remixes, is an exquisite collection of moods and emotions, ranging from vigorous and earthy to mesmerizing evocative and wistful late-night Nordic light scenes. A heady mixture of an epic tour de force of electronics from Surface 10 is almost beyond categorisation, and Bart Hawkins further establishes himself as a master of atmospheres extruded from the complex palette of the modular synthesizer, just some of the 22 artists appearing in this edition. It's certainly starting off this new year with a host of new releases, already filling this one & our forthcoming Feb edition, featuring some of our well known musicians with their new albums, including who's music has spanned over many decades includes Airsculpture, Andy Pickford, Erik Wollo, Ian Boddy & Sam Rosenthal. It was great to see one of the old school, Peter Beasley back with a new album who has been fighting with Parkinson disease since 2002. We welcome three new comers to Sequences, Sarah Davachi with ambient drone on an epic scale, ethereal & expansive. The slow melody & harmonies of Chrys Bodcast space journey, & the band Bodhiheart, 4 highly respected musicians who have performed & recorded with some of the greats in various genres. The opening track from Airsculpture, a lockdown recording with the original concept, was to lead on it being a Halloween broadcast, with lots of spooky darkness. In the end little of this survived and it ending up touching all kind of musical bases. Definitely our sound, but also something a bit different. A classic piece of electronic spacemusic from France by JEAN-MICHEL JARRE. With just a few notes, it creates a whole world of mystery and imagination. Slow, deep, romantic and sublime, it invites us into a place that's unknown and unpredictable, yet alluring. It's true that all good music takes you away, but since the 1970s artists have been using electronic tools to craft a sound that takes you to places far beyond the reach of ordinary music. Dark ambient electronics have become a vehicle...for transport to deep virtual worlds and exotic environments. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, a journey on the dark ambient spaceways, on a program called MYSTERIOSO. Music is by JEAN MICHEL JARRE, A PRODUCE & LOREN NERELL, PAUL ELLIS, MEG BOWLES, RICHARD BONE, ERIK WOLLO, KIT WATKINS, and ANDREW LAHIFF. Welcome back, hope you all enjoyed our special edition on Erik Wollo, more to come later in the year. Lets now continue our look at more new releases, with some info on the new musicians to appear on Sequences. The deep drones embedded in neoclassic arrangements, of strings, interweaved with field recording by Imaginary Landscapes. Off Land’s beat-less, seamless, ambient kaleidoscope. Hypnotic patterns weaved around drifting synth scapes from Motionfield. Winter Light label gives us Sysselmann, employing more organic field recordings and uses these in combination with acoustic instruments. The Kahvi Collective, always comes up with interesting acts, Weldroid being one of them, a multifaceted foray of chilled electronics that spans through ambient synthesizer and abstract IDM fissures. The Ambient Zone, includes three more artists, Warmth a Spanish producer focusing on ambient techno, Chris CoCo’s tunes based around the Buddhist day of the week & the comical named Stanleystanley, pairing saturated electronic sounds with more conventional acoustic instruments such as harps and bass guitars. US based musician Andrew J Douglas melodic sequential music, with hints of Berlin School and to finish off the newbie’s, Holland Phillips & Ross Christopher, combining strong scores & melodies, promoted by Higher Level Media, Playlist No 158 02.40 Giant Skeletons ‘When Darkness Falls, The Photons Are Whispering’ (album Warden Of The Humming Skies) https://giantskeletons.bandcamp.com/ 08.08 Weldroid ‘Capsule’ (album Regenerative) www.kahvicollective.bandcamp.com 13.52 Andrew J Douglas ’New Alpha Dream’ (album Planet Y) www.andrewjdouglas.com 20.02 Andrew J Douglas ‘Bullet Train’ 23.56 Andrew J Douglas ‘Floating In Dark Matter’ 27.09 Giant Skeletons ‘Echoes Of Absent Cosmonauts’ 34.51 Liam Thomas ‘Rigel’ http://www.sine-music.com 38.22 Motionfield ‘Home’ (album A Clear Horizon) https://www.txtrecordings.co.uk 44.32 Off Land ‘Patch Of Light’ (album Field Tangents) https://www.txtrecordings.co.uk 48.39 Off Land ’Strange Aerial’ 52.59 Off Land ‘The Mist Offset’ 57.26 Stanleystanley ’Sung From A Different Hymn Sheet’ (EP Besides Myself) www.theambientzone.co.uk 01.00.22 Stanleystanley ‘Palace Of Steam’ 01.04.57 Thaneco & Romerium ‘Sequence 1’ (album Sequences Passing By) www.thaneco.bandcamp.com 01.11.48 Michael Neil ‘Blues and Rhythm (Içmeler) *** (album Aegean Dreams ) www.michaelneil.bandcamp.com 01.18.58 Michael Neil ‘Sea & Sky’ 01.27.37 Levente ‘Abbey Of Sant’Antimo’ (album Convivium-A Medieval Collection) www.levente.bandcamp.com 01.33.15 Levente ‘Dante’s Divina Comedia’ 01.41.25 Ross Christopher ‘All This And Immeasurably More’ (EP Everything We Know) www.higherlevel.media 01.46.00 Alquimia ‘Fleeting Worlds’ (album Separate Reality) Blast From The Past 1998 01.50.39 Mark Dwane ‘Eternity Reimagined’ (album Martian Apparitions) www.markdwane.bandcamp.com 01.55.21 Mark Dwane ‘Monoliths Of Mars’ 02.00.46 Holland Phillips ‘From The Depths’ (album A Presence Of Three Minds) www.higherlevelmedia.com 02.05.34 Sysselmann ‘MS Nordlysnatt ‘ (EP Ritual Of The Aurora Noir) www.winter-light.com 02.13.00 Warmth ‘Monsoon’ www.theambientzone.co.uk 02.17.21 Max Corbacho ‘The Noble Beyond’ (album Echo Of Longing) https://maxcorbacho.bandcamp.com 02.28.30 Imaginary Landscapes ‘Remembrance’ (album Nothing Left Behind) www.syngate.net 02.37.04 Jack Hertz ‘Dreams Of A Brighter Tomorrow’ (album High Rise-Colonizing The Sky) www.auralfilms.bandcamp.com 02.41.28 Jack Hertz ‘Every Friendship Ends With Betrayal’ 02.46.43 Chris Coco ‘Wednesday Child’ www.theambientzone.co.uk 02.52.06 Jarguna ‘Quiescence’ (album Prospettive Animiche) www.projekt.com Edit ***

There’s gathering storm season here in OZ. While the boss is dictating our opening text to me, there’s a spectacular light show going on outside, and no kidding, the rain is nearly horizontal. Once again we take our trip to look at new releases from man & machines, not forgetting us ladies too, as the broad spectrum of sounds fill our airways. We are excited to have some quality music supplied by the owner of Heart Dance Records & R. S. Promotions, Sherry Finzer, who is an award winning new age flautist featured here with Tom Moore on the relaxation/meditational album let ‘There Be Light’. Space cadets will like the ambient side of this edition, drone soundscapes from Velge Naturlig, deep space exploration of Jaja & Jeff Pearce’s cosmic & wintry excursions just created on the guitar. Eleon, Jakub Fijak, James Asher & Richard Shulman showcase their music for the first time on Sequences, melody, sequencing and cinematic symphonic music you will love. Those more adventurous are catered by, Giant Skeletons, Shall Remain Nameless & Sensitive Chaos and we even have a spot of trance, spiced up by the feminine side of the composer Johanna Von Pfeife. Byron Metcalf with Erik Wollo & Peter Phippen continues his journey into the hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodic sound textures, meditative melodies and calm sequences from Natural Life Essence. Following on from the introduction of Tone Science, comes Module no 2, contemporary, modular synth compositions and lastly the prolific Austrian musician Fritz Mayr, quoted as, music with passion. Before we proceed with our latest podcast, some news. Mick will be going to the UK & France in a couple of weeks time for a month, so, this will be the only podcast for May & possible only time for one in June. Not to leave you without your dose of electronic music from us or have withdrawal symptoms, we decided to do a best of Sequences to tie you over, to be released the end of May. Because of the thousands of tracks we have from our shows, we’ve called it volume one, picked randomly and quickly. Those musicians not on there, don’t worry your time will come later. On with our latest edition again is mixed bag of genres, dark ambient from Divided By Two, Red Planet Orchestra & Inner Vision Laboratory, the ethereal atmospherics of Erik Wollo, mighty 70’s sounds of Node , sci-fi themed electro symphonic trek by Sveere Knut Johansen, with David Helping, Johan Tronestam’s melodic sequential sounds, lengthly epics of early Kosmische and Berlin Underground tones of Von Haulshoven, plus many more outstanding releases. Mark Sheeve’s 1981 ’Firebird’ which was originally on a limited edition cassette, is our blast from the past showing some early sequences led music by him. Node now takes us into three hours of some extraordinary music from the world of electronic sounds, enjoy. It’s been a stressful few days for mick getting this one ready for you, with the mercury touching nearly 40C here in Oz, and the humidity just drains away your energy, It seems this month we’ve had a lot of music in the ambient style again, cosmic to experimental, including some of our favourites who we have known for many decades now, Erik Wollo, Craig Padilla, Forest Fang & Steve Roach among them. A couple of Berlin School excursions from Space Megalithe and Andreas Meyer, with Jack Hertz who has been a prolific musician over years teaming up with Scott Lawlor, another collaboration under his belt. The opening track comes from our Norwegian friend Erik Wollo. 1.49 Erik Wollo ‘Revealed In Time’ (album Visions) http://www.wollo.com 7.45 Erik Wollo ‘Misty Blue’ 14.23 Steve Roach ‘Emotions Revealed’ (album Emotions Revealed) *** www.steveroach.com 26.14 Craig Padilla ’Stonington Moon’ (album Heaven Condensed) www.spottedpeccary.com 35.27 Craig Padilla ‘Heaven Condensed’ *** 46.14 Forest Fang ‘Gone To Ground’ (album The Sleepwalker’s Ocean) http://www.wollo.com 54.25 Forest Fang ‘An Alternate Ocean (The Salton Sea)’ *** 66.18 Space Megalithe ‘Live’ (album Live at The B-Wave Festival Belgium 2015) *** http://mowgli9.wix.com/spacemegalithe 79.35 Wim ’Streams Of Hope’ (album Floating Free) http://www.admusicshop.com 85.15 Wim ‘Harmony Tower’ 90.57 HawkDream ’Space Live 2016 www.blooboymusic.com 101.54 Andreas Meyer ’Spiegelbild’ (album Irrgarten 2) https://kontinuumproductions.bandcamp.com/album/irrgarten 114.34 The Haiku Project ‘The Sea ‘ (album Glimpses) www.haikumusic.dk 119.17 The Haiku Project ‘Glimpses’ 124.12 Alpha Lyra ‘Dancer In Blue’ (album Between Cloud & Sky) http://www.alpha-lyra.net 128.23 Alpha Lyra ‘Before The Storm’ *** 137.46 Scott Lawlor & Jack Hertz ‘Venus (The Lovers)’ (album Nine Spheres) *** https://auralfilms.bandcamp.com 145.07 Scott Lawlor & Jack Hertz ‘The Fixed Stars’ (Faith, Hope, and Love) *** 153.44 Pat Pik ‘Here And Now’ (album Truly Free) https://patpik.bandcamp.com 157.41 Pat Pik ‘Far Off’ 162.04 Franq ‘Kiasmos’ (EP Common Ground) https://franqsmusic.bandcamp.com 165.47 Franq ‘PRNCSS’ Edit ***

Deborah Martin's passion is to visualize and create music that takes each listener on a journey through time and space. With a vivid imagination and a deep love of historic places and peoples of the past, we see her as being blessed; for they are few, those visionaries, who can bring forth into the present, and into our hearts, the spirit of that which has been so utterly lost in antiquity. Erik Wollo grew up in a small mountain village in Norway where his ancestors have lived and farmed for hundreds of years. Weaving through this exotic and timeless landscape of snowy peaks and deep valleys, you can still hear the music of those centuries flowing through a people whose culture is deep, alive and thriving. [ad#post-ad] Here we are: the Jukebox plays the title song of the album "Between Worlds" performed by these two great ambient artists. Deborah shares some insight into the essence of the work, "The American Indian believes there are two worlds - the world of spirit and the world of form. Creating a bridge between the two worlds are ritual, healing and magic. The music process presented here was created to represent with sound this bridge between the worlds." Erik adds, "It is important to hear the voices of the past and how they lived in tune with the rhythm and spirit of the earth. With Between Worlds, we delved deeply into the experience, capturing the feeling of this American Indian heritage with sounds and compositions." Spacemusic.nl says about this album: "swept away from the present into an imaginary world that happens to tell the truth and nothing but the truth" Artist: Deborah Martin and Erik Wollo Track: Between Worlds Album: Between Worlds Buy the album on iTunes Store here Visit the Spotted Peccary label here Jukebox copy; 2009 - spacemusic.nl
