Here is a quote from the Brephos website - Abortion is seen as one of those 'taboo' subjects, but as an evangelist I am convinced that the gospel is big enough to handle this issue. After 50 years of abortion in the UK - 9 million babies lost - it's high time that we, the Church, considered the facts, became a voice for the voiceless, and held out words of gospel grace to those who've been involved in abortion. I commend Dave Brennan and Brephos and all that they do to help us respond to this injustice.https://www.brephos.org/

Hello! Thank you all for listening to this episode of Into the Pray. You can watch our conversation with Dave Brennan here if you'd prefer. First of all we'd like to honour the memory of our good friend, Melvin Tinker, who very sadly passed away earlier yesterday morning. We feel very grateful for the times we had with Melvin, albeit briefly, and will miss calling on him for input and the vast wisdom he carried. Our next episode of our new YouTube series, featuring Melvin at length, is available here. The recent conversation Nick had with Melvin, just days before he was diagnosed, is in full here. "Welcome him [home] then in the Lord with all joy, and honour and highly appreciate men like him..." (Philippans 2:29 AMPC).Today we have sad hearts but determined all the more continue to look together through the window of Scripture into eternity beyond. Today we are in Jeremiah 7. Hello! Thank you for joining us for our mid-week session of Into the Pray - you can find all episodes here. You might like to watch/share our flagship 2021 film here. This week we continue peering through the God-given window of Scripture to discover how abnormal our secularised world is, let alone our secularised Church. The main audio in this episode is from a meeting Nick had been invited to speak in last year, hence the audio quality is via Zoom. The blog article/photos associated with this is here along with part two of the audio if you're interested here. We'll pick things back up with Dave Brennan of Brephos next week. Thank you very much for your ongoing prayers for healing as we continue to return to full capacity this week. We share more on our Patreon page for those of you who would like to walk this journey more closely with us. Thank you also for those who have left reviews for us. There are approximately 25 reviews left via iTunes meaning there's scope for several thousand others!
Hello! Welcome to Into the Pray and thank you for listening along. You can also watch along here. Today's midweek session with Dave Brennan of Brephos begins to lift our thinking above the realm of the natural and normal into the transcendent and eternal. “A world without windows” is how sociologist Peter Berger describes the secularized view of the world. He also calls it the “prison of modernity.” Bultmann the theologian, as much as Sagan the scientist, is an inmate of this prison. Both agree that a modern scientific view of the cosmos requires reality to be interpreted as a closed system of natural cause and effect—a system without signs of transcendence. The renewal of Christian witness and mission requires constant examination of the assumptions shaping the Church's life. Today an apparent loss of a sense of the transcendent is undermining the Church's ability to address with clarity and courage the urgent tasks to which God calls it in the world.Grab a brew and listen or watch Nick, Mairi and Dave read Psalm 139 and begin the sometimes foreign process for all of us of lifting our thinking. Paul said it like this, "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." (Colossians 3:2).Thank you very much for your prayers for healing as we have sought to return to full capacity this week. Greetings All, This is part 1 of a 2-part podcast. **Tune in to Into the Pray this Friday to hear J C Ryle's "A Call to Pray" read in full by Mairi, Nick & Dave.**You can watch this podcast via basic YouTube video here.Look out for our conversation with Alisa Childers next week.Thank you very much for your prayers for healing as we have sought to return to full capacity this week. We share more on our Patreon page for those of you who would like to walk this journey more closely with us. Today's Wednesday session with friend Dave Brennan of Brephos involves those two dreaded words (no, not Brexit debate) climate change. Dave's blog is here. As you have watched the world swarm on Glasgow this week for COP26, as you have witnessed generations collaborating effectively together, as you have heard Greta Thunberg's scripted protestations, what have you thought? - Is all of this harmless and, actually, quite good? - Is there something more nefarious lurking behind the scenes? - How should we think about the importance of creation? - How should we both steward and worship? Grab a brew and listen to Nick and Dave discuss an incident in Norwich last week that serves as a strong reminder (if that was needed) that the 'climate change emergency' narrative is not harmless at all. As a visual display of Yahweh's great creation, you might enjoy a glimpse into our half-term break and Scotland's jaw-dropping beauty? “Open Your Eyes” can be seen here.Thank you for your prayers and please feel free to let us know how we can be praying for you.If you would like to support our work, you can do so here and/or here. Hello!Thank you for listening to Into the Pray. Today's episode contains ten minutes of audio from a Facebook LIVE video in which Dave Brennan speaks with Laurie Penny at Parliament Square, London, regarding abortion and related feminist/transgender ideologies. We begin this week to discuss the interconnectedness of "pro-choice" thinking, the abortion industry and other ideologies that are aggressively trampling conscience, common sense and freedom of thought/speech. Intimidating as they are (check the first ten seconds of Dave's conversation with Laurie) what impact is this all giving on the lover and follow of Jesus - aka genuine disciples of the coming King? You can watch this episode of Into the Pray premeiring on YouTube here at 9pm this evening. Hello!Thank you for tuning in to our mid-week session of Into the Pray! Our episode with Dave Brennan today previews the next 12 weeks or so as we race towards the end of another year. We will be discussing the following as faithfully as we know how to:- Predestination - Transgender ideology - Prayer/intercession & activism/street work- Forging communities of prayer- "Is your church like this...?""For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness." (2 Thessalonians 2: 7-12)"From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force..." (Matthew 11:12)"Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30)We meet again with Ann Widdecombe on Friday regarding the life of Isaiah and next month we have Christopher Ash helping us with our season series on "All the Prophets". (Author of umpteen books, including one of our faves, Bible Delight, Christopher is something of an authority on the Psalms). Finally, please would you help us with 3 things:1) Consider becoming a supporter of this podcast here to help us develop this media further; 2) Forward this episode to your networks and, if you haven't already,3) Rate & review Into the Pray on whatever platform you get your podcasts on. In this special episode, Rev Jamie Franklin sits down with Director of Brephos Ministries, Dave Brennan. Brephos is a ministry that helps Christians and churches to think through the issue of abortion and related challenges. In this conversation, Jamie and Dave discuss the Covid-19 vaccines specifically with regards to the use of human embryonic tissue in their development and testing. What has the Church's response been to the fact of the use of this aborted foetal tissue? How should a Christian respond to these facts? And what can the current response tell us about the spiritual health of the Church and our nation? For Dave's ministry, please see: https://www.brephos.orgNotices:Thanks to our Patreons! Hello!Thank you for joining us again for our teaching series through the book of 1 Corinthians. This is episode 35 and today we finish chapter 11 by focusing on vv 27-34.The David Prior quote from today's session: “...this marks the beginning of a separation between the love-feast and the eucharist. This…is a timely reminder that the Christian worship in Corinth was of a more informal nature, took place in private homes, incorporated both liturgical and spontaneous elements, and was not confined to one hour's devotions in a specially-constructed building which remained virtually unused for the rest of the week.”Do you have any thoughts? How has the last session been in your heart/mind/prayers? Do you have any questions? Do you have any disagreements? Do you have any testimony? Please do get in touch here! This coming Wednesday, don't miss our preview of what's to come in our mid-week sessions over the next 3 months before the end of the year and we finish season 4. We will be talking about transgender ideology, predestination, intercession and activism combined as well as posing some difficult questions for all of us as we survey the general landscape of the Church. You can watch Wednesday's discussion with Dave Brennan via YouTube here where you can also subscribe for our new VLOG series examining Christianity Today's podcast series, The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. Hello!Thank you for joining us again on Into the Pray! Our Wednesday session this week spans Midlothian to Cornwall as we resume our weekly conversations with Dave Brennan of Brephos. As we pivot somewhat from our focus on contraception, we come to the critical issue of the Roman Catholic Church, the largest religious denomination on the planet with approximately 1.3 billion Catholics worldwide (as of 2019).Is the decision of evangelical Christians like Gavin Ashenden, Ann Widdecombe and Francis Chan, to move towards Catholicism, wise? Is this an acceptable solution to the gross unfaithfulness rife within Protestantism? We'll be going into this more next week but please do listen to our initial thoughts as this question emerges today. If you would like to watch our latest YouTube video - The Terror of the LORD - you can do so here. Please don't miss our superb conversation with Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali this coming Friday as our season focus on All the Prophets continues. This week's focus is on Elisha. This thrice-weekly podcast is essentially a faith-based ministry so if you would like to support it (and our wider work) in an ongoing way, please consider doing so here. Until next week, let's be found praying, "Come, Lord Jesus!"Love, N&M xx
Hello!*Apologies for the slightly below-par audio quality in this podcast today*We're delighted to welcome Joanna Chandler to the podcast this week!Joanna is a colleague of Dave Brennan of Brephos and who has recently made the move from working in the CBR-US team to over here with CBR in the UK. Our mid-week focus of contraception in recent weeks continues today with Joanna who has done a lot of thinking and studying in this area, starting with her High School thesis a decade ago! Please do pray for Joanna as she continues to settle into British culture and that her work for CBR-UK will be fruitful, provoking the global Church to faithfulness. “The real damage is done by those millions who want to 'survive.' The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don't want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won't take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonising their own weakness. Those who don't like to make waves—or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature. Those who live small, mate small, die small. It's the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you'll keep it under control. If you don't make any noise, the bogeyman won't find you. But it's all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?! From what? Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does. I choose my own way to burn.” — Sophie SchollThis coming Friday, DON'T MISS the second part of our conversation with David Robertson about the Prophet Elijah and his showdown with Jezebel at Mount Carmel. This really is a quality conversation. You can listen to the first part here and please do consider sharing to your social networks for us. Next Friday we are joined by Michael Nazir-Ali who will be helping us to focus on the prophet Elisha. If you haven't watched Calling YESHUA yet, you can do so here; you can also download the song for free here. Finally, we've also got a new film out today - an Ode to William Booth - entitled, The Terror of the LORD. You can watch it here. If you would like to support this podcast and/or our wider work, you can do so here. Maranatha!N&M xx

Entrevistamos al autor Dave Brennan, quien nos habló de su libro "Dicknidad", el cual se encuentra a la venta. ¿A cuántos orgasmos tenemos derecho en esta vida?
Hello!Thank you very much for listening to our podcast. Our mid-week session today with Dave Brennan of Brephos is continuing our conversation about contraception and, specifically this week, to examine the world/church cultures into which we have all be born. How is it that the people of God are generally silent about abortion? Isn't it more than likely that we are all unwittingly imbibing the godless cultures of this world that all too often leave us gullible and undiscerning? What does this have to do with contraception? Today, Nick, Mairi and Dave read Psalm 94 out loud and then explore some of these questions together with reference to Scripture.Do you have any thoughts/comments/questions? Please do get in touch via Firebrand Notes and we'll include these in a forthcoming episode in a few weeks time when we'll be joined by Dave's colleague, Joanna, who has done a lot of work in this area of contraception. Please consider sharing this podcast to your networks for us!If you would like to support this podcast and/or our wider work, please see here.Calling YESHUA (a new film and song of worship calling for national repentance) will be available at the end of July 2021 - more info here. Hello Everyone!Thank you for listening to/sharing this podcast! As our fourth season of Into the Pray gets going, we join with Dave Brennan of Brephos for our weekly conversation about abortion. Today we begin our mini-series about contraception. Like with our conversations about IVF, with Bibles at the ready, we are looking to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we join minds, hearts and prayers to come to His "position" on these infinitely important issues. Here is a rough outline of where we're going over the next three weeks: Episode 1: Contraception: The Facts - Which "contraceptives" have the potential to end human life that's already begun?Episode 2: Contraception: The Culture - What are the ideas, attitudes, dreams, and fears that fuel our assumptions and decisions when it comes to contraception?Episode 3: Contraception: Where Do We Stand? As usual, we welcome questions/comments that we will include in future episodes, so please do get in touch! With some unforeseen factors delaying release, Calling Yeshua will be ready at the end of July - more info here. Please do consider forwarding this podcast to your networks for us and supporting our work here. Thanks so much and, once again, for listening!Maranatha, LoveN&M x

Greetings Everyone![Quick notice: We have a new film in the pipeline, a piece of content that we have no doubt is extremely important for the Body of Christ at large. We're needing some help with the practicalities/financial costs associated, so if you would like to help with this, to make it happen, and get more info ahead of release, please feel free to drop us a line. We very much value your interest/support.]This is our mid-week session with Dave Brennan of Brephos in which, every single week, we prayerfully discuss the sensitive but abhorrent issue of abortion. Make no mistake, under the Lord Jesus, this is our priority for the long haul. Did you see the new BBC 1 drama, Three Families, that started last night? The conclusion is airing tonight at 9pm and you can see both episodes on the BBC iPlayer. This episode of Into the Pray is our initial response (Satan's Lullaby) to the programme having seen the first episode last night. We will record again tomorrow and give a more comprehensive overview having watched the conclusion. Therefore there will be two podcasts with Dave this week. At the end of tomorrow's podcast, we will also be hosting an extended time of prayer following the conclusion of the programme tomorrow evening. "But Joseph said to them, 'Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but iGodmeant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.' Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them." (Genesis 50:19-21)Please do consider sharing this podcast to your networks. As we have asked in our previous two episodes, (no. 17 & 20 in this season), is IVF ever OK?You can also watch this conversation via YouTube here as a Premiere at 9pm GMT this evening. (Thank you for your patience while we're in the process of improving our videos). This week, having introduced the subject of IVF and having spent some time in Scripture last time, we consolidate our "position" on this difficult issue. We will also be responding to the BBC's new two-part drama revolving around the changing fertility landscape in Northern Ireland, Three Families, that starts a week today.Listen to Dave Brennan and Nick and Mairi Franks discuss the general lay of the land of the Church in which this infinitely important question of IVF is being - or indeed not being - considered from a genuine biblical perspective:- How are our Christian lives distinct from others who also would naturally want children? - How do IVF and the abortion genocide relate to each other? Here’s the Chris Richards article cited and this week's impromptu episode recorded with Richard Lucas, leader of the Scottish Family Party, in which we discuss related issues concerning children and young people and our responsibilities as mature disciples of Christ to use our voices to defend them. However, today we wanted to enter in to an extended time of prayer as we have mentioned several times that we would! Our plan is to do this more frequently in the months ahead so look out for more times of prayer coming up.We trust that this episode of Into the Pray will serve to fuel your own growing fire of prayer at this critical juncture in Church history. Greetings All!This week's mid-week session of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan of Brephos is a momentary pause in our ongoing conversation about abortion and IVF. We'll be returning to IVF next week and then the issue of contraception after that but, for this week, Nick and Dave discuss the general posture of the Church with regard to things like vaccine passports. Please sit back with a coffee and a prayerful heart as we endeavour to hear a true prophetic voice at this hour. First and foremost, we are all people of God, sons and daughters of the Coming King, not abortion activists. You can watch the YouTube version of this podcast here. Greetings All!In today's mid-week episode of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan of Brephos, we continue our trailing conversation about IVF by spending time digging into Scripture.Listen to Dave, Nick and Mairi read through a key passage in Genesis (critically, the book of origins) where the deception of the human heart is clear for all to see...or at least those who want to see. Here’s the Chris Richards article cited. Please do get in touch with your thoughts unless the basic courtesy/respect/tone that we've laboured to ensure in these podcasts isn't honoured/reciprocated. This week on our mid-week session with Dave Brennan of Brephos, we begin a new mini-series discussing IVF and asking honestly whether this is ever OK for disciples of the coming Christ? Listen to Nick and Mairi explain their journey and the point at which they came face to face with the realities of IVF and the strong witness of the Holy Spirit that this was not the way forward. We will be taking several weeks to explore this neglected area, to dig into the Bible, to listen to Mairi's testimony as a woman of God who longs to be a Mummy but who recognises something very profound about the heart of God on this (and related) issue. Thank you again, Mairi, for being willing to share your heart in public especially when what you will share in forthcoming weeks will likely be rejected by many. Jesus sees you; Jesus sees us; Jesus sees all. You can see Mairi's very neat handwriting here! This week's episode of Into the Pray hosts our next instalment with Dave Brennan in our ongoing conversation about abortion. (They are, of course, normally every Wednesday)We are having these conversations with Dave every single week because there is a great need for us to be thinking a lot more about these realities tolerated and normalised throughout the world. But Jesus is coming.Earlier this week via Christian Concern, Dave debated with Professor John Wyatt, Emeritus Professor of Neonatal Paediatrics at University College London and President of the Christian Medical Fellowship, regarding the ethical question of "whether or not disciples of Jesus Christ should be taking the COVID-19 vaccine?"This episode of Into the Pray is reflecting on how that debate unfolded. If you would like to, you can watch the debate here first. Before listening to this episode, please also consider Galatians 6:7-10:"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. In our weekly episode of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan of CBRUK, we continue to discuss the horrors of abortion and the complicity of the British evangelical Church towards the wholesale promotion of COVID-19 vaccines. As you are going to hear, a recent video has been released of evangelical leaders, up and down the UK, bent on pedalling/spiritualising the very same "vaccine narrative" as the UK Government, NHS and 10 Downing Street. The video is disturbing to watch, difficult to process and shockingly bad on a number of levels, not least the total absence that it showcases of any prophetic sensitivity in the Church to the gravity of the hour. You can view the video here.We believe that a direct and pointed tone - a foghorn - is required to cut through this stunted prophetic haze of the comatose Church. As such, please listen and share this episode as Nick & Mairi Franks and Dave Brennan of CBRUK continue to discuss the prophetic foundation of any activism or gospel-work towards seeing the abolition of abortion. In 1930s Nazi Germany, many evangelical churches tolerated Nazi flags flying outside their buildings, such was the complicity between the evangelical Church and the diabolical Nazi state. As the Body of Christ today, it is time to think very differently regarding what's unfolding before our eyes. In this week's episode of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan of CBRUK, we discuss the foundation and epicentre of what it means to be actively opposed to abortion: the gift of the Holy Spirit of prophecy. We are all commanded to eagerly desire this gift of the Holy Spirit and our ongoing question on this podcast is: "If, as the Body of Christ, we are commanded by God to not only desire this gift but to desire it eagerly, what is the net result for us all if we disobey?"What happens when the gift of prophecy is either neglected or abused or both? In this context, we believe that part of the multifaceted answer to this question is that the Church will say (relatively) nothing about the horror of abortion and that, for instance, 'popular' church leaders will clamour to support the UK Government's agenda for us all to have the COVID-19 vaccine that is derived from aborted foetus cell lines (HEK293). The answer for the Church to this urgent dilemma - as with the general landscape as a whole - is to be willing to repent and face the corporate chaos we're in and, then, to ask the Holy Spirit to give us His heart and His mind so as to live on this earth as we are meant to (prophecy). Have you asked the Holy Spirit for the gift of prophecy? Did you know that you are commanded to? (See 1 Corinthians 14:1) You can watch the YouTube version of this podcast here. This episode of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan from CBRUK follows on from last week's session about whether or not we should be having the COVID-19 vaccines. If you've not listened to that one please do go back and listen to that first. It was during last week's recording that we became aware of the potentially huge pastoral issue unfolding here for those (principally over 70 years of age) who have been "fast-tracked" into having the COVID-19 vaccine. The oldest members in our society are not only most vulnerable physically (hence their being vaccinated first) but also potentially on the emotional and spiritual levels level of life. (We're not saying that spiritual health is always analogous with physical health!). However, it is true that it is the oldest members of our society who have been "offered" the vaccine first and, therefore, in the context of having had least time to think and pray and seek counsel about the issue, especially from the place of community "group think". Therefore, we see a potentially large number of people who may come to a place of regret having had the vaccine and hence this episode to hopefully cater for them.In this episode, Nick and Dave prayerfully navigate (as sensitively as possible) through this difficult situation, offering not just commentary on the big, media-pedalled narratives that are pressing the decision to be made, and highlighting implications either way, but also some scripturally-based words for profound pastoral comfort, especially for those who feel conflicted having had the vaccine already. This week on Into the Pray, we talk again with Dave Brennan of CBRUK to hear his thoughts on the important and pressing question, "Should I have the COVID vaccine?".As you will hear, this question can't really be considered without referencing the wider COVID-19 context and, at the very least, being prepared to question the narratives that are being spewed out by the likes of the BBC. - What role is propaganda playing in this? - What ethical questions should you consider when thinking about the vaccine? - What facts should we have firmly in mind as Christians? - How do the vaccines relate to abortion and fertility issues? - Will the vaccine become mandatory?Of great concern to myself and Mairi, as those who have not yet been offered the vaccine and haven't had sufficient time to think about it, are those who have already received the vaccine but who also feel like they were pressured into making a decision. Mairi, Nick and Dave will be discussing/praying about this in next week's episode - i.e. the potentially huge pastoral issue that there is unfolding for the most vulnerable in our society (the eldest among us) who have had the least amount of time to research/think/pray about the vaccines. The older generations are not only most vulnerable in physical terms (hence the first to be offered the vaccine) but potentially also in other ways such as in spiritual terms. What if you've taken the vaccine but subsequently wished you hadn't?We will be hosting a podcast every week to cater for these kinds of question. You can watch a video version of this conversation here.Related reading to this episode: At least for consideration, our friend Steve Buckley's podcast re the general COVID situation here: Worthy/concise reading from Malcolm Duncan on the conscience issue of the vaccine here: Further reading on this issue can be found on Dave Brennan's website here.If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. Welcome to the third season of the Into the Pray podcast! Mairi and I needed a wee break from the frenetic activity surrounding podcasting as season two drew to a close just a few days before Christmas. (There are more than 40 other episodes over seasons 1&2 that you can go ahead and listen to, including solid teaching through the book of 1 Corinthians). 2021 has started with an intense sense of spiritual activity surrounding a one day fast as we gratefully said goodbye to 2020. (How much do we have to be grateful for in such an unparalleled year?!).Suffice to say, 12 months ago (before COVID was a thing), the Lord asked us to call every single church in the UK to close its doors. 12 months on we are now recognising more and more why He wanted this to happen and, indeed, why it shouldn't be a reality that we are resisting. Lord willing, we will be producing a short/hard-hitting/provocative film in the early part of February that communicates strongly about where we ourselves have been feeling overwhelmed with the scale and magnitude of what He's been showing us....and we trust that He will also have been showing you too. Look out for this film, our ongoing weekly sessions with Dave Brennan, our continuing Sunday teaching through 1 Corinthians and a new audio book version of Body Zero. We need your help! Please consider supporting this podcast and the wider work that we're pioneering by giving here. You are also more than welcome (especially if you're sick of Facebook) on our free community app, as part of our fledgling JesusCome! community, and you can find out more here, including the community values and etiquette documents that we make no apology for. In this week's episode of Into the Pray we meet with Dave Brennan for the last time of 2020. (This is the 4th part of a mini-series introducing the gargantuan issue of abortion.)Shining a spotlight onto this subject - forcing it into the front of our consciousness - rather than leaving it buried in numbness and complicity of our minds, Nick and Dave discuss the root of the problem: idolatry. As you come to listen, be prepared for some straight talk especially regarding much that is acceptable within the Church. The truth is that abortion and related fertility practices such as IVF, are far from acceptable. With thousands of babies aborted every week in the UK, with DIY "pills by post" abortions readily and indiscriminately available, with little babies flushed down the toilet like faeces into the rat-infested sewers below, what else can we pray? Oh, come Lord!If you would like to watch this recorded podcast on YouTube, you can do so here. In this week's episode of Into the Pray, we come to our next conversation about the abhorrence of abortion. Words are important and we need to keep using specific words that are vital for us to "get" in our hearts. Abortion is abhorrent and yet we don't feel the abhorrence of it; to us it is just normal. This is where we really need to pray for the power of the Spirit, that the hearts and minds of the redeemed of the Lord (who should "say so") would be set free from this callousing normalisation of child sacrifice and hope again in the power of God. Oftentimes mountains seem immovable to us but we must remember that God is the only One who can shape a mountain, the only One who can move them and the only One who will surely crush the enemy. How will this ever happen? By coming to Him, by acknowledging that we don't really know Him and that, therefore, we don't really love Him as we should. We must remember his beauty and power. Churches must remember, church leaders intimidated into silence by the power of Satan...must remember. This week Nick, Mairi and Dave dive into Psalm 106 at the beginning of the podcast. Please listen prayerfully to the conversation that follows until the end where there is an extended time of prayer. Please consider sharing this with others who need to hear. If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. You can give here. Come, Lord Jesus!Love in Jesus,Nick & Mairi xx
In this week's episode of Into the Pray, we deliberately expose ourselves to another dose of abortion's abhorrent arsenic. Since last week's episode, we sat back and watched Amazing Grace, the 2006 film adaptation of William Wilberforce's long-term campaign towards the eventual abolition of the slave trade in Great Britain. The film opens with this text:"By the late 18th century, over 11 million African men, women and children had been taken from Africa to be used as slaves in the West Indies and the American colonies. The slave trade was considered acceptable by all but a few. Of these, even fewer were brave enough to speak against it." It was William Wilberforce who said (of slavery) to Prime Minister, William Pitt, "It's like arsenic: each new tiny dose doubles its effect."Let's keep this very simple:- unless the Lord reveals to our hearts by His Spirit what He sees and feels about abortion (and, most fundamentally, about the Church and the world), then we will waste our time on this planet in varying degrees of apathy and prayerlessness.Rather, let us pray every day that we will see the 'wonderful things' of His heart and His word, (Psalm 119: 18) and that we can be in genuine faith for social reform as part of our "Work for Reformers". Thanks again to Dave Brennan for joining us. If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. You can give here.
In this week's episode of Into the Pray, Mairi and Nick are joined again by Dave Brennan for the second podcast in a long, trailing conversation about the abhorrence of abortion. Please listen to these podcasts with an open heart and a willingness for the Lord to bring you into a new realm of sensitivity to His heart regarding such matters. If you don't follow Mairi's Instagram account - My Heart Notes - you can do so here. We'd encourage you, especially, to prayerfully read the related collection of Bible verses that will cut us to the core...if we will allow them to. This is what this is all about, guys! We're calling this season on the podcast, as you'll know, "Work for Reformers", and this issue of the gift of prophecy is so pivotal for us to not waste our lives in the arrhythmias of "church business as usual". May we all think, speak and feel an awful lot more about these hard realities. Thank you to Dave Brennan of Brephos and CBR UK for partnering with us on these podcasts. If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. You can give here. Until next week, let's continue to pray, "Come, Lord!". in Jesus' Name, LoveN&M xx
In this week's episode of Into the Pray, we speak with Dave Brennan of Brephos, a Christian (not Catholic) organisation heralding the plight of unborn babies. (Correction to the podcast: “Brephos” is the Greek word for “baby” not “breath”).“They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. ..Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage.” (Psalm 106: 37-38, 40).Dave helps us with the conviction that we all need be having conversations about this in an ongoing, increasing way and, as such, a new weekly episode of this podcast will now be dedicated to this worthy conversation. (More info to follow).Suffice to say, we need much more Christian action and much less Christian apathy/ignorance.How many people were killed during WW1 and WW2, combined? Do you know? Do you know how many people were killed in the last century through the abhorrence of abortion? As Dave begins to help us all to understand, this issue of babies being killed on an industrial scale is nothing short of "normalised" genocide and yet tantamount to many, many in our sick society today with merely personal hygiene choices - after all, "It's MY body!", right? We will all very soon stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ with this incomparable injustice firmly in His view - what will He say to us; what will we say to Him? More information regarding Dave Brennan & Brephos here, as well as the wider work of CBRUK here. As well as our regular Friday episodes (featuring guests/book reviews etc) we also have a dedicated Sunday morning session for solid biblical teaching. As we continue to embark on this "Work for Reformers" we are increasingly finding ourselves out of our depth in terms of space, capacity and time. Therefore, if you're interested in helping to regularly support what we're doing, please consider regular giving here. Thank you.Come, Lord!in JesusNick & Mairi xx
