Our word of the week is a big one, Nonviolent Social Revolution. We rebroadcast the Evolutionary Activist podcast of February 26, 2020 by Patricia Pearce called Nonviolence and Possibilities in Times of Polarization – an interview with George Lakey. We then deconstruct the myth of the so-called massacre in Beijing's Tienanmen Square on June 4th, 1989. Following that we look at President Biden's authorizing Ukraine to use US weapons to attack Russia, and how Israel is using bots and fake social media accounts to influence Congress. Then we look at updates for local stories that include: the outcome of the Montanans for Palestine “No Preference” campaign in Montana's Democratic Presidential Primary race, the Eagle Watch Estates Tenants struggle, and the latest effort by the Missoula City Council to address the issue of the unhoused.

We hear from tenants of the Eagle Watch Estates apartment complex in Missoula who have organized to get their issues resolved by an unresponsive landlord. That follows our Word of the Week, the “CIO Organizng Method,” and how the method may also explain why the United Autoworkers Unions lost the election at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama. On today's show we also feature Robbie Liben and his opinion piece on the campaign in Montana for voting “no preference” in support of Palestinians in Gaza in the Democratic Presidential Primary election. And that follows how billionaire oligarchs are behind some of the repression on university campuses; and by the story of the union graduate student worker strikes in response to the repression on some University of California campuses.

Over 100,000 Michigan voters in the Democratic Presidential Primary last week sent a message to Biden. Their message was strong and clear: End this war. Stop funding Israel's slaughter. Young voters in this 21st century will not support a president who funds a massacre, and if Biden continues to ignore the wishes of the vast majority of Americans, he will lose thousands of people in November who simply won't vote, and Trump will win by default. Digby then joins as she dives right into the GOP's brand new “Throwing Sh*t at the Wall Until it Sticks” committee, walking through Jesse Watters' proclamation that he just wants to throw someone in jail while the rest of the Five obsess about whether the Right's special investigation is more or less special than the Left's. Next, they walk through AOC's performance at the Subcommittee on Weaponization of Federal Government, highlighting Twitter's special treatment of the far-right, before wrapping up the interview by parsing through the Republican Party's complete embrace of minoritarian rule, and where the GOP-led House is going next. Judy Gold then gets right into the renaissance of her political vitriol with the emergence of George Santos, before she dives into her recent work transforming her book “Yes, I Can Say That!” into an Off-Broadway production, exploring the growing prevalence of silenced comedians (be they jailed or canceled) and the importance of judging the intent of a joke rather than claiming entire topics as “off-limits.” And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma expand on the train derailment in Ohio, the labor battle that preceded it, and the legal fight that might follow, before parsing through the footage revealing Atlanta PD's lies and abuses that were covered up in the murder of Tortaguita in Cop City, and watching Ben Shapiro remind us to NOT BLAME THE BOSSES for going woke. Joe Rogan compares Jews and Money to Italians and Pizza, Ben Shapiro asks if we must judge bigoted political analysts for their bigoted political analysis, and Sam and Emma assess the future of a Democratic Presidential Primary, plus, your IMs! Senator Bernie Sanders who represents Vermont in the United States Senate, has not told the public media or Americans he isn't running for President in '2024. However in 2020 when Bernie suspended his campaign for the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nomination Sanders said he would not be running for President again. But circumstances in politics change for the best or worst. His closest advisor Faiz Shakir according to CNN Politics wrote a memo detailing polls showing how Bernie is still rising in popularity and name recognition especially in special election decider states. There's also the possibility Senator Bernie Sanders could ultimately challenge current President Joe Biden through a Democratic Presidential Primary in '2024. This is a very real challenge relying on the fact that the remainder of Biden's Presidential term does not go as planned or as expected. So will Biden be challenged from a Independent Caucus Democrat such as Bernie Sanders in 2024'? We will have to see and find out ourselves. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nrodyunknown/message

On the phone were Jim Goerner and union official Buck Geno. The group was talking about the efforts in Michigan to have legislative districts redrawn every 10 years by a citizens committee instead of the party in power. This led to Joe and Nate getting into a shouting match about whether the Democrats were any better than the Republicans. In this clip, Joe correctly predicted that Sen. Darren and Jim are angry about the Democratic Party shenanigans in the Arizona primary, so much so that Darren announced that he left the Democratic Party and that Democrats “would never get another g*ddamn penny” from him. Darren and April then got into a heated argument about independent voters being shut out of the primary process, even though 40% of voters are independent. Darren was so mad that he left the studio for the remainder of the show. From July 14, 2017: KJ Millo joined Darren and Jack Prince. The trio discussed political fatigue, authoritarianism, organizing protests, the failures of the Democratic Party, and the lack of consequences for Trump and his supporters over comments they made. From October 29, 2021: A rare blooper clip as Darren, Katy Steele, and Jack Prince talk about the shenanigans at the Hazard High School homecoming rally in Kentucky. OVERVIEWBrownTown finally dives head first into the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary election season. With a 24/7 news cycle, social media frenzy, infighting within established parties, and liberatory movements and rhetoric being reflected in mainstream discourse, how do we makes sense of a flawed state process while fighting for a new world? Originally recorded March 2, 2020...the day before Super Tuesday. The fellas discuss the current state of the presidential race with the (at the time) remaining candidates as well as the original historically large field. As Caullen and David get news of Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar dropping out of the race and MSNBC host Chris Matthews abruptly resigning right before recording, they try to make sense of what this means on a larger scale within the politics of politics. As BrownTown tries to keep the conversation macro as new votes and global emergencies have changed certain realities since recording, they analyze gendered coverage of candidates, the fallacy of electability and the "safe" candidate, the contextual meaning (or lack there of) "progressive," representation versus liberation, and irksome corporate news punditry.--EPISODE CORRECTION: Now Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was the Secretary of State, therefore in charge of elections, during the 2018 Midterm Elections, where he defeated Stacey Abrams, which many argue was due in part to voter suppression.CREDITS: Audio engineered by Genta Tamashiro.--Bourbon ’n BrownTownSite | Become a Patron on Patreon!SoapBox Productions and Organizing, 501(c)3Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Site | Support
