ACESS VIDEO VERSION BELOW, PURE AUDIO ABOVE Welcome to Season 11 of the Thoth-Hermes Podcast. On this first episode, Rudolf meets with guest Karin Valis to expand the growing conversation around Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Occultism. Karin is Slovakian, a Machine Learning Engineer and former teenage atheist “GO” game fanatic turned occultist This is to say that Karin is both a brilliant analytical mind and committed spiritual explorer. Karin is a blogger, conference speaker, musician, magazine editor and AI-integrated tarot deck creator. Most recently, she has been engaged in creating a philosophical learning platform designed to counterbalance the funneling manipulation effect of Social Media on societal viewpoint dialogue. A core question in the conversation today centers on how AI development can offer us insight into our very human development of occultism. Distinguishing the windows of learning available to us, Karin describes the mapping of semantic space in the meaning-making processes of AI model development. Karin highlights the parallels between Sacred Alphabet and Sacred Language concepts. Karin comments on theories of AI as a “super positioned simulacrum” of language model AI functioning as a multiverse generator. Karin and Rudolf, as both musicians and polyglots, describe the variance of spoken and written human language, embodied and disembodied: and the challenges that this presents to AI as a human tool. 0 – The Fool 10 The Wheel of Fortune 21 – The World 17 – The Star Tarot of The Latent Spaceshttps://mercurialminutes.substack.com/p/tarot-of-the-latent-spaces-by-hermetechnics Far from idealizing AI technology, several times Karin acknowledges the problems of AI: human workforce impact, and the “soulless” nature of AI prose. Her emphasis is AI as a tool to greater human creativity, as opposed to a replacement. Resourcing the knowledge of AI development as an opportunity- not replacement- for occult epistemology is an on-going theme in the episode. Along the way, we hear about Karin's experiences creating a recent tarot deck, a shocking synchronicity encountered during AI-enhanced editing of a shamanic ritual recording, and her recent exploration of AI in the context of Vanessa Sinclair and Carl Abrahamsson's Cut-Up classes. Karin shares regarding her magazine, Gnostic Technology and her involvement with the European Foundation for Shamanic Studies. We hear about her expriences with technological, academic and occult conference audiences. Karin shares her intent to “soften the gaze” of the “tech bros” -which in response to Rudolf's question- she describes as “complicated” in reception. The European Commission has authorized the world's first one-dose drug against a respiratory virus that sickens millions of babies and children globally every year. In a statement, drugmakers Sanofi and AstraZeneca said the European Commission had given the green light to nirsevimab, a laboratory-developed antibody designed to protect infants during their first exposure to RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, a highly contagious common infection that infects nearly all babies by age 2. At the moment, babies at high risk of the disease can be given monthly shots to protect them during RSV season. In September, the European Medicines Agency recommended that nirsevimab, sold as Beyfortus, be authorized based on advanced research that showed the drug reduced the chances that babies with RSV needed medical attention and appeared to be safe, compared to infants who got a dummy treatment. The drug is given in a single injection. “We are excited about the opportunity to expand prevention efforts to all infants,” said Silke Mader, co-founder of the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants. In the U.S., RSV is causing an early surge of infections in children's hospitals this year. European health officials are warning there could be a similar spike across the continent. For most healthy people, RSV is a cold-like nuisance. But the virus can be life-threatening for the very young and the elderly. The virus can infect deep in the lungs and in small babies, it can impede breathing by inflaming their tiny airways. RSV kills about 100,000 babies annually, mostly in developing countries. Nirsevimab was developed to give newborns and infants immediate protection against RSV through an antibody to prevent infections in their respiratory systems. In November, Pfizer announced preliminary research showing that a new vaccine given to pregnant women could help protect their babies against RSV, after decades of failure to develop an effective shot. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Russia could not feel "safe, develop, and exist" because of what he claimed was a constant threat from modern Ukraine. Immediately after, a full-scale military invasion on Ukraine was launched, resulting in number of casualties, both military and civilian. With President Joe Biden's recent decisions to increase sanctions on Russia and keep all Russian airlines out of U.S. airspace as tensions escalate, it is pertinent to analyze and evaluate the role the United States will play in this crisis. While current events are still current, the Council is dedicated to offering a RealTime Report, hosting speakers with firsthand knowledge of the issues at bay and the ability to best interpret the situation as it unfolds. For this Russo-Ukrainian crisis, we've invited the Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison, the 22nd permanent representative of the United States to NATO, in conversation with moderator and Russia and Near East expert Anna Borshchevskaya. Ambassador Hutchison has worked tirelessly with members of the 72-year-old alliance to protect our freedoms at home and abroad. She will share her informed insights on the world's response to the unfolding war in Ukraine while Borshchevskaya will offer perspective on Putin's intentions and Russia's foreign policy. Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchison The Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison served her term as U.S. permanent representative to NATO in Brussels, Belgium from 2017-2021. For decades, Israel and Russia stood on opposite ends of an ideological divide. During the Soviet era, Moscow not only supported Israel's enemies economically and militarily, but also sought to stamp out any connection between Russian citizens and Israel, refusing millions the right to emigrate. Since the Soviet collapse in 1991, however, relations have turned a corner.Where are Russian-Israeli ties headed today?

What began as a parallel digital sphere now disrupts the physical world, fundamentally changing our understanding of society. What impacts does technology have on our identities and the rise of extremism? How does the borderless online realm impact our system of nation states and democracy? What importance will we ascribe to the concept of trust, in an increasingly faceless transparent world? This academic event endeavours to examine these developments in more depth through the examples of radicalisation, political communication, and humanitarian aid.

A new ongoing series on Deconstructing Dinner that will look at the chemicals in food. From pesticides to food additives, chemicals are both intentionally and unintentionally entering into food, and into our bodies. Recent studies have demonstrated how Canadians are chock full of toxic chemicals. The most startling findings have been that children, are more toxic than their parents. But while many of these chemicals found in our bodies come from environmental pollutants, both industrial and commercial, there are a number of chemicals being added to food. One of the most controversial chemical additives is Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal). The sweetener has once again entered into the media radar since the published results of the most comprehensive study ever conducted on the sugar substitute. The results have indicated that Aspartame, is indeed, carcinogenic. But how have health authorities responded? Do these recent findings perhaps illustrate the power of corporations in influencing food, policy, and health? Guests Kathryn Knowles - Director of Resource Development, European Ramazzini Foundation (Italy) - The mission of the European Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences "B. Ramazzini" is to prevent cancer by identifying its causes and studying new strategies for early diagnosis and intensive therapies. The Foundation is a non-profit, private institution with official governmental recognition. Located in Bentivoglio, in the province of Bologna, Italy, its facilities include a Cancer Research Center (CRC) with more than 10,000 square meters of laboratories and archives and an Epidemiological Research Center. The Foundation recently released their findings of the â??First Demonstration of the Multipotential Carcinogenic Effects of Aspartame Administered in the Feed to Sprague-Dawley Rats". The results were published in the March issue of the peer-reviewed scientific journal Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP). Sarah Winterton - Program Director, Environmental Defence (Toronto) - Environmental Defence protects the environment and human health. They research. They educate. They go to court when they have to. All in order to ensure clean air, safe food and thriving ecosystems. Nationwide. The organization released their Toxic Nation report in 2005. The study saw 11 adults from across Canada tested for 88 chemicals. Their most recent study released in 2006, titled Polluted Children, tested children, parents and grandparents from five Canadian families for 68 chemicals. Pollution in Canada is getting worse. While some countries step up to tackle toxic pollution, Canada straggles behind. Fortunately, the opportunity exists now to bring the regulation of toxic chemicals up to international standards.
