University of Miami President Joe Echevarria joins the show for a wide-ranging conversation on the future of college athletics, beginning with the Brendan Sorsby situation and what it says about the NCAA's declining authority. Echevarria discusses how college sports may be moving toward a true free-market system and explains why he remains confident Miami will thrive regardless of where the landscape ultimately lands. He reflects on the Hurricanes' run to the national championship game last season, the dramatic turnaround engineered by basketball coach Jai Lucas, and why the expectation at Miami is now for both football and basketball to compete for championships every year. Echevarria also addresses the legacy of Miami baseball and the program's goal of consistently returning to the College World Series, while providing insight into the search for a new athletic director and the qualities the university is prioritizing. The conversation wraps with a broader discussion on NIL, revenue generation, and why college athletics increasingly resembles professional sports in both structure and business operations.
Hour 3 opens with World Cup discussion and how Lionel Messi's success continues to elevate Inter Miami and the MLS on a global stage. The conversation then shifts to the latest Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors, including Miami's respectful approach from Giannis, the possibility of him becoming publicly disgruntled if a deal doesn't happen, and whether Miami or other contenders can get a package done. Joe also reacts to the modern era of NBA drama, from social media unfollows to superstar trade demands, while questioning whether he has any interest in Kawhi Leonard. The guys then explore the idea of the Dolphins taking a swing on Brendan Sorsby in the NFL Supplemental Draft despite concerns about his gambling issues, noting Miami's willingness to draft quarterbacks and the risk-reward nature of the decision. The hour wraps with University of Miami President Joe Echevarria joining the show to discuss the Sorsby situation, the NCAA's declining authority, Miami's championship expectations across football, basketball, and baseball, and how NIL and revenue demands are pushing college sports toward a more professional model while the Hurricanes aim to remain a national powerhouse.

Father Dave welcomes veteran filmmaker and Catholic René Echevarria to discuss his latest project called "The Faithful: Women of the Bible." René is a television writer and producer best known for his work on "Star Trek," "Castle," "Dark Angel," and more. "The Faithful" is a three-part series on Fox that centers on five well-known matriarchs of the Old Testament.

René Echevarria, screenwriter and producer, has helped bring their lives into the spotlight with the new series from Fox, The Faithful. He joins AllMomDoes host Julie Lyles Carr for a fascinating conversation about his own journey to faith, what the lives of women found in the book of Genesis have taught him, and why their stories matter more than ever today.Show Notes: https://bit.ly/40RPkZe

The Oscars are almost here! On the fifty- eighth episode of ATFT, my friends filmmaker Emma Catherine, movie lover Taylor Donaldson, and Emmy- winning photojournalist Cole Echevarria join this year's panel to discuss the Oscar nominated films and share our predicted winners! This episode is explicit and spoiler- filled. As Cole and I discussed in the “2025 in Film” episode, this past year has been a solid, diverse year for cinema and that is very much reflected in the Academy Award nominees. This year's awards season has largely been excitingly unpredictable, making the Oscar's more highly anticipated than usual. The four of us share many of the same favorite 2025 films such as Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and Sinners. The latter, which reunited one of the best actor- director collaborators of our time (Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler), has already made history as the most nominated film in Oscars history. There were several actors who became first time nominees from Renate Reinsve to Teyana Taylor to Delroy Lindo. It's a competitive year with so many great films and artists nominated. But there is one particular film and actor that we find overrated and it becomes a continuous topic of discussion… but you'll have to listen to the episode to find out about what we're talking about. This is the fourth annual Oscars special! Cole has been a part of this big episode all four years and this episode marks his 21st appearance on the All the Film Things! Since the Oscars is the “Super Bowl for film fans”, this episode was aimed to be more of a Sports Center/ panelist format. This is the first time Emma and Taylor have joined the Oscars special panel, making this Emma's second appearance on the show and Taylor's fifth! Emma joined our friend filmmaker Franklin Ritch and I for an analytical discussion on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest this past September while Taylor hasn't been on the podcast since the 1999 in Film episode, which was released a year and a half ago. This episode was recorded on February 17, 2026. It was originally 2 hours and 45 minutes so it really had to be trimmed down and, sadly, some hilarious moments, were left on the cutting room floor. After a sold out Cirque de Mort show in October, Emma will soon be performing in another aerial showcase for Jax Beach Aerial Arts this May! This spring showcase is in development so there will be more information to come! I'll be sure to post about it on the All the Films Things Instagram but follow Emma on Instagram to stay updated! Taylor, who is based in North Carolina, is currently looking for a new job! Though she has a degree in film and experience in film production, she is very open to working in other industries. After working with her on a few projects, I can attest she is wonderful, hard- working, and easy to work with! Reach out to her on LinkedIn about potential job opportunities! In this episode, Cole, Taylor, Emma, and I go through each category sharing our thoughts on what should win and what will likely win, according to Gold Derby and Cole's new favorite writer Scott Fineberg from The Hollywood Reporter. Cole, who continuously brings up Fineberg, shared great insight about the documentaries nominated this year. He also has a short rant about a film that shouldn't have been nominated for Best Visual Effects. Cole and I's banter nearly hits our peak in this episode, partly because of those two reasons. Taylor reveals which Oscar- nominated actor scares her, Emma shares her least favorite Safdie brother and I once again champion my favorite actor who has a chance at earning his second Oscar this year. All this and much more on this new episode of All the Film Things!ATFT Announcement!: All the Film Things will be back on April 8! Stay updated by following @all.the.film.things on Instagram! The first episode of the new year! On the fifty- fifth episode of All the Film Things, Emmy- winning photojournalist Cole Echevarria returns to look back and discuss 2025 in film! This episode is spoiler- filled. The 2025 films spoiled are Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Bugonia, Caught Stealing, Hamnet, Jay Kelly, and Sinners..While 2023 continues to set a high bar for the 2020s decade, 2025, in my opinion, was a pretty solid year filled with a fantastic variety of unique, original films and stories. Cole and I disagreed greatly in regard to 2024 in film, but when it comes to 2025… we still disagree. Early in the year, Michael B. Jordan reunited with Ryan Coogler for Sinners, proving that they are one of the best actor- director collaborators of our time while Robert Pattinson's long- awaited sci- fi film directed by Bong Joon- Ho, Mickey 17, finally hit theaters. While several prominent actresses, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Winslet, and Kristen Stewart each made their directorial debuts, Celine Song followed up her directorial debut, Past Lives, with another beautiful film that has endured as a favorite amongst audiences. And the Oscar season officially began with the return of two of the greats, Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Thomas Anderson, for an epic, hilarious, and action- packed masterpiece beloved by film aficionados and general audiences in One Battle After Another. From then on, several brilliant films such as Sentimental Value, Hamnet, and Jay Kelly instantly became beloved by audiences and Oscar contenders. On previous year in review episodes, the concern of physical media's future was discussed and now, due to recent events, the future of movie theaters has become more grim than ever before. This episode not only marks the 101st (!!) episode of All the Film Things, but also Cole's 20th appearance on the show! He is far and away the most frequent guest and I'm very grateful for his friendship, banter and all, as well as, of course, being a part of ATFT since the early days in 2022. This is the fourth year in review episode on All the Film Things and I always look forward to these reflective episodes, not only because I get to chat with friends, but also because these episodes will act as sort- of time capsules someday. This episode was originally 130 minutes so much had to be cut, which especially affected the tribute segment, but it was recorded on December 23, 2025. In this episode, Cole and I share our top five favorite films of the year and, much to our surprise since we never agree, we have the same number one pick . Weirdly enough, we have a few of the same films in our top five lists, though my fourth favorite of the year immediately made Cole laugh. We go on to discuss the favorite films of past ATFT guests from K- Pop Demon Hunters to Bugonia, ponder which other movie stars could have played the titular character of Jay Kelly, and pay tribute to the giant stars we lost in 2025 as well as two previous ATFT guests. You also won't want to miss Cole's Bob Dylan impression... because you won't be able to unhear it. All this and much more on the brand new episode of All the Film Things! On the forty- fifth episode of All the Film Things, my friend Emmy- award winning photojournalist Cole Echevarria is back for the third “wide- released” edition of our segment, Film Finds! The “Film Finds” segment is ATFT in its most casual, spontaneous form as we talk about the films we've recently watched with nearly nothing prepared. The last time we did a “Film Finds” episode was exactly a year ago (give Episode 23 a listen) and the first “wide- released” Film Finds episode was Episode 3 (so check that one too while you're at it)! Like previous Film Finds episodes, I mostly talked about older films I discovered and Cole, the frequent theater- goer, mostly focuses on newly released films he has seen so far this year. This is Cole's record- breaking 19th appearance on ATFT! He is far and away the most frequent guest on the show and has proven to be a fan- favorite. Not only is Cole one of the biggest champions of ATFT, he makes this podcast fun and brings out a less- serious version of myself. He won an Emmy last year for his work on the news package “Waiting for Rebuild” for First Coast News. As always, we do banter a bit but it is a little more sporadic this time around. This episode was recorded on June 10, 2025. In this episode, Cole and I discuss the films we have recently discovered as well as films we've recently rewatched. Cole talks about important characters in Wes Anderson films as well as his new film The Phoenician Scheme (2025). This discussion leads us to debate whether or not Wes Anderson is an auteur and then to me once again raving about Pedro Almodóvar who was helmed as cinema's “greatest auteur”. I talked about my recent viewing of Mr. Klein (1976) which left me rattled as well as recent rewatches of Tokyo Story (1953) and Revolutionary Road (2008). Cole later reveals his surprising new hobby and how that ties into the comfort film he dreams to remake one day. All this and more on the new episode of ATFT!Background music created and used with permission by the Copyright Free Music - Background Music for Videos channel on YouTube.

The Oscars are almost here! On the thirty- seventh episode of ATFT, my friends Emm- winning photojournalist, writer/ director Samy El- Kamel, and director Craig Ienne Pedroza join this year's panel to discuss the Oscar nominated films and share our predicted winners! This episode is explicit.2024 was a mixed year for us… Cole and Craig believe 2024 was a great year for cinema while Samy and I don't quite share that opinion. This year's awards season has become plagued by various controversies and many believing this is not as competitive as last year's Oscar race. For the 2025 Academy Awards, Jacques Audiard's Emilia Pérez earned the most nominations(13) this year whileboth The Brutalist and Wicked tied for second, earning 10 nominations each.Other films that received many nominations are Conclave, Anora, and The Substance. So many categories are up in the air with no film expected to sweep, leaving audiences torn on who will win. Will it be Sean Baker or Brady Corbet who takes home the Director Oscar? How about who will win Best Actress: Demi Moore, Fernanda Torres or Mikey Madison? These are just two of the widely debated categories. We will soon learn the answer on Sunday, March 2!This is the first time each of the ATFT regulars are all together for an episode! This is Cole's eighteenth appearance on ATFT (seventh on this wide release), Samy's eleventh (fourth on the wide release), and Craig's sixth appearance (fourth on the wide release). This is the third annual Oscars special! Cole and I recorded the 2022 Oscars special through the Relevnt app, which is currently in the vault. The first wide released Oscars special (give Episode 15 a listen) was last year's 2023 Oscars special with Cole, Craig, and past guest Lina Smith. Since the Oscars is the “Super Bowl for film fans”, this episode was aimed to be more of a Sports Center- format. This episode was recorded on February 6, 2025. Cole recently won an Emmy for his work with First Coast News on the news package “Waiting for Rebuild”! Watch the full news package here!: https://youtu.be/Pa1m0qm8h-Q. Samy's latest short film “Waveform” will be making the rounds at film festivals soon so stay tuned by following his production company on Instagram and Youtube @barefootpythonmedia! Craig recently directed the short film “Floating Daisies” which will also begin its film festival run soon. Stay updated on that project by following @floatingdaisiesfilm on Instagram and Craig on both Instagram and Youtube @iennefilm!In this episode,Cole, Samy, Craig and I go through each category and discuss our predicted winners. The categories are discussed in the order of which the categories were read at last year's Oscars. There are very few categories we unanimously agree on. Arguments are had, impressions are hilariously done, and the power of friendship lives on. All this and much more on the latest episode of All the Film Things!ATFT Announcement!: All the Film Things will be back on March 26! Stay updated by following @all.the.film.things on Instagram! Carlos Cruz-Echevarria, a 60-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Deltona, Florida, was killed on November 11, 2017. At first, his death seemed like an unfortunate act of random violence. He was found shot near his disabled vehicle, and his truck was later discovered burned several miles away. However, investigations revealed a more sinister plot. — Support Us: Donate $1 to the podcast (Patreon): https://patreon.com/CuentoCrimenPodcast?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink Shoutout to Our Paterons!! You really think this guy gets a job 40 days before the assassination, moving to Dallas from New Orleans and just happens to work in a high rise building right at the end of the motorcade rout that had an empty (meaning no people) room on the top floor? You'd have to say one of 3 things. Either he was part of a plan, was extremely well handled, or was a super rare coincidence.Think about it, a covert asset of ONI and CIA who could speak Russian and was certainly not lacking intelligence, moves to a new city to get a minimum wage job moving books. And then as testified by Roselli, he was shot so as to silence him.Remember what Hoover wrote Nov 24th 1963Why say the Real Assassin?”It is nteresting because Nick Katzenbach who Hoover is referring to, himself wrote the next day in a memo to Bill Moyer “THE PUBLIC MUST BE SATISFIED THAT OSWALD WAS THE ASSASSIN; THAT HE HAD NO CONFEDERATES WHO ARE STILL AT LARGE; AND THAT EVIDENCE WAS SUCH THAT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CONVICTED AT TRIAL.””Jack Ruby, also a Jew, even told the warren commission he had to do it “because of his Jewish faith”and what was he talking about when he told Earl Warren“Unfortunately, Chief Earl Warren, had you been around 5 or 6 months ago, and I know your hands were tied, you couldn't do it, and immediately the President would have gotten a hold of my true story, or whatever would have been said about me, a certain organization wouldn't have so completely formed now, so powerfully, to use me because I am of the Jewish extraction, Jewish faith, to commit the most dastardly crime that has ever been committed. Can you understand now in visualizing what happened, what powers, what momentum has been carried on to create this feeling of mass feeling against my people, against certain people that were against them prior to their power?” That goes over your head doesn't it.…I want to say this to you. The Jewish people are being exterminated at this moment. Consequently, a whole new form of government is going to take over our country, and I know I won't live to see you another time. Do I sound sort of screwy–in telling you these things?… All I know is maybe something can be saved. Because right now, I want to tell you this, I am used as a scapegoat, and there is no greater weapon that you can use to create some falsehood about some of the Jewish faith, especially at the terrible heinous crime such as the killing of President Kennedy….Now maybe something can be saved. It may not be too late, whatever happens, if our President, Lyndon Johnson, knew the truth from me. But if I am eliminated, there won't be any way of knowing. Right now, when I leave your presence now, I am the only one that can bring out the truth to our President, who believes in righteousness and justice.”Note that later while talking to the press that Jack Ruby says the Truth may never come above board and that it goes all the way to the top. If LBJ isn't in the loop and at the top as it were, then who is he talking about?“But he has been told, I am certain, that I was part of a plot to assassinate the President…. I am sorry, Chief Justice Warren, I thought I would be very effective in telling you what I have said here. But in all fairness to everyone, maybe all I want to do is beg that if they found out I was telling the truth, maybe they can succeed in what their motives are, but maybe my people won't be tortured and mutilated. ….No; the only way you can do it is if he knows the truth, that I am telling the truth, and why I was down in that basement Sunday morning, and maybe some sense of decency will come out and they can still fulfill their plan, as I stated before, without my people going through torture and mutilation. …But I won't be around, Chief Justice. I won't be around to verify these things you are going to tell the President. … I have been used for a purpose, and there will be a certain tragic occurrence happening if you don't take my testimony and somehow vindicate me so my people don't suffer because of what I have done. …All I want is a lie detector test, and you refuse to give it to me. Because as it stands now—and the truth serum, and any other–Pentothal–how do you pronounce it, whatever it is. And they will not give it to me, because I want to tell the truth. And then I want to leave this world. But I don't want my people to be blamed for something that is untrue, that they claim has happened. “It seems that Jack Ruby is paranoid that the president has been told already that he was party of a plot to kill the president that that “his people” meaning Jewish people or the Israeli state was behind it. Israel had several motives to want both JFK and RFK dead. It was in their eye a matter of survival.1 The Kennedys want Israel inspected for nuclear weapons. RFK also had information and testing done around Dimona showing the Uranium there had come from the US's Nautilus project, since it was the only uranium in the world enriched to that high a % at that point in time. It was all over the area.2 The Kennedys supported Palestinians right of Return.3 They wanted Israel's foreign lobbies to register as foreign agents4 JFK along with France's Charles de Gaulle who also survived an assassination attempt, supported Algeria independence. The John Birch Society, who Ruby tries to paint a picture of as all powerful, didn't kill the President. As much as big oil was tied to LBJ, and Texas oil man David Harold Byrd owning the building where Lee Harvey Oswald worked, they didn't control Jack Ruby nor did they gain anything worth the risk when RFK was assassinated in California. Guys like David Ferrie and Jacob Rubenstein were working for the Mafia. And the Mafia lost a billion dollars in revenue when Castro shut down the casinos. They had every reason to work with the CIA when they came knocking and they did, and the CIA had every reason to seek plausible deniability that the mafia provided for a variety of illegal activities, from narcotic and gun running to assassination. The CIA's Victor Marchetti testified that Ferrie worked for the CIA.Jack Ruby was a central mafia figure and knew almost every cop in Dallas. He also went the Cuba and even rode with FBN agents to the airport. So was Oswald's childhood friend and fellow closet f****t Efraim Sullivan, who became a chief of police in Louisiana and got 4 cops killed as well as 5 civilians all in one shooting. According to his son he work for the Mossad. These southern mafia heads guys were bragging about JFK AND Robert getting killed before both happened. The Kennedys demanded the ZAC/ZOA/AIPAC register as a foreign agent. RFK issued them a moratorium with 72 hrs to comply in November of 63. The PM resigned over it to stall for time and Kennedy was killed the same month. The mafia was the CIA's plausible deniability and ground distribution network for narcotics which is how they were covertly financing anti communist resistance in Cuba, China, and USSR. Vietnam's opium was a natural market move as Europe was recovered from WWII. RFK was prosecuting the same mob leaders who the CIA was secretly working with to sell drugs and even attempt to assassinate Castro. Think back to the CIA's earliest operations in the Middle East, operation Ajax and the Suez Crisis, which was itself the product of a botched 1956 Israel false flag operation, Operation Suzanna, now commonly called the Lavon Affair. As a Senator, Johnson blocked the Eisenhower administration's attempts to apply sanctions against Israel following the 1956 Sinai Campaign. Who did these CIA operation in Iran and Egypt really benefit? Not the United States. But of course both Dulles brothers were hardcore Zionists. Bobby was killed on the first anniversary of the six day war and set up a Palestinian. Now who would want to do that? The plan was to replace him with Katzenbach, which LBJ did. And none of it could move until JFK was out of the way. The mob lost a billion dollars a year in gambling revenue when Castro shut down casinos. Hoffa using teamster pension funds to create Las Vegas as the new Cuba was in reaction to this. These are the guys who end up in a series of murders for or before finishing testimony to the House Committee on assassination. Giancana had been Ruby's boss. Trafficante had him killed. The Jewish finger prints are all over both assassinations. Johnson's domestic and foreign policies on Cuba on Russia on Vietnam didn't really change. Kennedy was not getting out of Vietnam. This is wishful thinking on par with the fools who thought Obama was going to be an antiwar president. JFK had already procured 6 billion dollars, most of it left over from Eisenhower who had had enough of the MIC, to spent on the F111 fighter jet. Oh it is interesting that the Crown family benefited when Johnson lobbied to have the contract go to General Dynamics. They also married into the family who owned the hotel where Bobby was shot and allowed Jewish mobsters to use it for gambling operations. It was Henry Crown's personal lawyer Albert E Jenner, who was appointed by Johnson and to be part of the Warren Commission whitewash, was hired to look into the backgrounds of the two most important individuals, Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby. Of course he found no intelligence ties or mob ties. Jenner was also a director for general Dynamics. Reading the biographies given for these men by the WC and comparing them to the mountains of information we have now is enough to make even the most crooked lawyer blush. Jack Ruby's first jail visitor was the mob boss of Dallas. The only dramatic changes under LBJ were on his Middle East policy. He had Americans killed! About the USS Liberty which the Israelis attacked in the Six Day War, LBJ told Admiral Lawrence Geis “I dont care if that ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean.” LBJ stacked his admin with Zionists and the US has never recovered. Israel kept it nukes, Palestinians never got right of return, (it was never even brought up again) the lobbies never registered as foreign agents, and America as subsidized the racist apartheid state with billions every year from then to now. Of Course Johnson didn't want the ZOA (Zionist Organization of America) to be registered as a foreign lobby. His aunt, Jessie Johnson was on it! Few people know that according to Jewish law, LBJ was himself Jewish. His mother was Rebekah Baines, thus Johnson's middle name. She was Jewish. Her mother was Ruth Ament Huffman, and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Perrin all of whom were Jewish. Perrin's husband was John S. Huffman whose mother was Suzanne Ament, thus Ruth's Middle name. Ament was a German Jew. The Huffman's settled in Fredrick Maryland and from there went to Kentucky and finally Texas. The Jewish times brags ” The line of Jewish mothers can be traced back three generations in Lyndon Johnson's family tree. There is little doubt that he was Jewish.” Regardless there is no doubt that LBJ was a Zionist and put Israel's needs first. Writing that list would take a long time.On November 21, 1963, a government informant named Thomas Mosley was negotiating the sale of machine guns to a Cuban exile named Echevarria. In the course of the transaction, Echevarria said that “we now have plenty of money – our new backers are Jews” and would close the arms deal “as soon as we [or they] take care of Kennedy.” The next day, Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. You wont see that in Oliver Stone's film on JFK of course the Executive producer of that film was Arnon Milchan, Israel's largest arms dealer. It is unfortunate but many laymen JFK researcher use that film as their initiation.Echevarria's words are often associated with the Mocone -Rowley memo. CD 498 [Rowley memorandum| which does reference it. It goes on to explain how the conversation was interrupted by other bus drivers. The follow up interview with the informant is of course classified.Furthermore this adds. “I further told Mr Johnson that the informant had worked with us in a recent counterfeiting Case and had proved to be reliable.”However the primary source is a Secret Service ReportSpecial Agent Joseph E Noonan. What is the Jewish (mafia/state) doing mixed up with anti-Castro Cuban exiles who were illegally buying arms? And why isn't this pre Kennedy assassination foreknowledge more well known? Oh but you see it is, only the Jews part is usually removed. I don't think researchers should omit this just to be Politically Correct. The international angle and Johnson's deep ties with Israel and Israel's motives to kill not only JFK but RFK as well, is seldom explored. Stone's movie doesn't even mention middle eastern policy or Israel and instead focuses on the Bay of Pigs and Vietnam. I think enough eyeballs have been over every inch of those theories for over 5 decades. I have a working theory that cleanly ties both assassinations together. But I am censored on everything. How Israel stole the bomb and killed JFKI need you to subscribe, it is just $6 a month less if you sign up for a year. This is a public episode. The first episode of the new year! On the thirty- fifth episode of All the Film Things, I am joined by my friends and ATFT regulars "unofficial co- host"/ Emmy- winning photojournalist Cole Echevarria, writer/ director Samy- El Kamel, and Samy's friend movie lover Adolfo Miranda to talk about 2024 in film! This episode is explicit and a few recent films are spoiled, especially Joker: Folie à Deux. 2023 set the bar pretty high in terms of years in film. While I believe 2024 was mostly a lackluster year in cinema, there were undisputed gems beloved by many. Most of us agreed the latter part of the year contained the best new releases compared to the beginning of the year, including films like A Real Pain, Anora, and The Substance. As previously stated, both Cole and Samy are ATFT regulars while this is Adolfo's first time on the show! More specifically, this episode marks Cole's 17th time and Samy's 10th time over the course of 81 ATFT episodes recorded thus far.!Cole, Samy, and I have reflected on past years in film for three years in a row now. Our "2022 in Film" episode is in the vault but check out Samy and I talking about "2023 in film" last year (Episode 11)! I always look forward to this yearly episode since it not only gives me an opportunity to chat with my friends but it is nice to know these episodes will act as a time capsule years from now. With each episode, the banter only gets funnier and funnier, even if it is at my expense. Cole and Samy will hopefully be back on ATFT soon for the upcoming Oscars special! Last month, Cole won an Emmy for his work with First Coast News on the news package “Waiting for Rebuild”!! Click the link to watch it!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDo6Cbvzyj4 Samy's long- anticipated short film “Waveform” will be released soon, under his production company Barefoot Python Media, but is expected to hit some film festivals so it may be a while before it is readily accessible online. Check out the teaser trailer for the short on the Barefoot Python Media YouTube channel by clicking this link!: https://www.youtube.com/@BarefootPythonMedia You can also find Samy discussing his updated top ten favorite films of 2024! Last year's “2023 in Film” episode was more of a year in review. That was the intention with this episode but unfortunately we ran out of time. This episode is most entirely the four of us sharing our top favorite films of the year. Cole and I each share our top five favorites of the year while both Samy and Adolfo each shared their top ten favorites. Even though we share a few similar favorites, our lists truly vary between each other. Cole's favorites of the year have changed slightly since last June's “Film Finds” episode. Adolfo, an A24 fan, listed several A24 productions in his top ten list and also made a comparison using Conclave that thrilled me. Samy chose his favorite films carefully and, as per usual, articulately describes each of his picks in a way that will entice you to watch them soon after listening to this episode. My list was not as concrete as everyone else's but I talked about the return of one of my favorite actresses, Angelina Jolie in Pablo Larraín's Maria, before sharing my favorite film of the year which was such a controversial choice that it launched a long analytical debate. On the twenty- third episode of ATFT, my friend and photojournalist Cole Echevarria returns for the second “wide- released” edition of our segment, Film Finds! This episode spoils two 2024 films: Monkey Man and The Fall Guy. The “Film Finds” segment is ATFT in its most casual, spontaneous form as we talk about recent films we've watched with nearly nothing prepared. The last time we did a “Film Finds” episode was back in August of last year. Listen to that episode titled “Episode 3: Film Finds- August 2023 with Cole Echevarria”! This time around, I discuss a few old films I have seen since our last Film Finds episode while Cole focuses on 2024 films. This is Cole's, record- breaking, sixteenth appearance on ATFT! On this “wide release” of the show, this is Cole's sixth appearance! Check out Cole's previously “wide- released” episodes 2, 3, 10, 13, and 15! Before recording this episode, I gave Cole his long- awaited birthday present: the very first ATFT shirt! Not only is he the most frequent guest and “unofficial co- host” of the show, Cole is one of the biggest champions of this podcast. He surely makes each episode fun and brings out a less- serious version of myself. Cole has been asking for merch for a while now and, since he is both a great friend and aforementioned champion of ATFT, I wanted to make him the very first ATFT shirt individualized just for him! Check out @all.the.film.things on Instagram to see the shirt! This episode was recorded on June 10, 2024. Cole is a photojournalist based in Jacksonville, Florida. He works behind the scenes for First Coast News! While this segment is meant to be sharing the films we have recently watched, this episode went slightly awry. This episode is filled with debates, especially in the first twenty minutes or so. Those twenty or so minutes are some of the most comical ATFT has seen thus far since our banter just gets better and better. Debate topics include Cole's bold statement, “If 12 Angry Men was made today, it would be far better than the original 1957 film”, and if coloring in film is better now than back in the day when Technicolor was used. Weigh in on the debates by answering the question that appears after listening to this episode or by going to or tagging the All the Film Things Instagram! Cole also shares his top five 2024 films so far while also discussing the new films he has recently seen in theaters. Towards the end of this episode, I talk about a few of the films I have seen lately, including The Virgin Spring, Le Samouraï, and The Children's Hour. Cole and I also share some hot takes surrounding Sydney Sweeney and The Bikeriders, respectively. All this and more on the latest episode of All the Film Things! Pedro "Pegy" Rosello was a Cuban-American drug trafficker who was affiliated with the Los Muchachos crime syndicate in Miami during the 1980s. He grew up in Little Havana, where he met Willy Falcon through his sister, who was married to Willy's brother Gustavo ("Taby"). Rosello grew ambitious because of his unwillingness to follow in the footsteps of his working-class father, and he became involved in Falcon and Sal Magluta's cartel. Rosello developed a relationship with Alexia Echevarria, a Cuban-American woman whom he had met at a restaurant and later a nightclub, and they were engaged to marry before they were forced to call off the wedding on learning that the police intended to arrest him there. On 17 September 1991, he was arrested in his driveway as the police cracked down on the cartel. Rather than spend the rest of his life in prison, he agreed to cooperate with the government, drawing a map of La Gorce Island and thus helping with the 15 October 1991 arrest of Sal Magluta. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison, serving only 4. He was released in 1996, and he divorced Echevarria, who became a reality television star. In 2021, after being interviewed for the documentary Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami, he was arrested for attempting to sell 5 kilograms of cocaine to a DEA informant, and he was released in 2022. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/checkingconmauro/message

The Oscars countdown has come to a close on All the Film Things! On the fifteenth episode of ATFT, my friends photojournalist/ unofficial ATFT co- host Cole Echevarria, director Craig Pedroza, and actress Lina Smith join this year's panel to discuss the Oscar nominated films and share our predicted winners! This episode is explicit and spoiler- filled. 2023 was a great year for film… making this year's Oscars very exciting! This year's awards season has become the most competitive since the 2020 awards season, with competing films that included Parasite, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, and Joker. For the 2024 Academy Awards, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer earned the most nominations (13) this year while Poor Things came in second, earning 11 nominations. Other films that received many nominations are Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie, Maestro, and American Fiction. Even though Oppenheimer is predicted to sweep this year, many categories are have become incredibly competitive, leaving audiences torn on who will win. Will it be Cillian Murphy or Paul Giamatti who will take home the Best Actor Oscar (a strong debate between Cole and I)? How about who will win Best Actress: Lily Gladstone or Emma Stone? These are just two of the widely debated categories. We will soon learn the answer on Sunday, March 10! Every one of this year's Oscar panelists are returning guests. This is Cole's fifteenth appearance on ATFT (fifth on this wide release). This is both Craig and Lina's fourth appearance each on the show while also having one episode each released on the wide release (Episode 12 for Craig and Episode 6 for Lina). Cole and I recorded an Oscars special for the 2023 Oscars via the Relevnt app. We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to make it a big yearly event for the show! Since the Oscars is the “Super Bowl for film fans”, this episode is in a more Sports Center- format. This episode was recorded exactly one month before the Oscars on February 10, 2024. In this episode, Cole, Craig, Lina, and I go through each category and discuss our predicted winners. Cole and I have very strong favorites, his being The Holdovers and mine being Oppenheimer. We agree that our banter in this episode is the best and most entertaining yet. There are few categories we unanimously agree on. Lina compares the brilliant aging hair and makeup in Oppenheimer and Maestro. Craig thinks that even though Oppenheimer is predicted to be the Best Picture winner, there could definitely be an upset. In addition to sharing our predictions, we talked about snubs and surprises, our ranging thoughts on Wes Anderson's work, films like Saltburn and May December that fizzled out from Oscar buzz over time, and more! ATFT Announcement!: Due to recent production assistant opportunities, there will be no episode on March 13. All the Film Things will be back on March 27! In 2018, Chris Echevarria launched Blackstock & Weber, the Brooklyn-based footwear brand that has become well-known for its updated takes on classic loafers. “I own the business 100%, and it's grown 300% every year since we started,” Echevarria said on the Glossy Podcast. Still, he's finding time to launch other businesses and tackle new projects: In November, he introduced the brand Academy, which brings his signature preppy-with-a-twist style to menswear. And, after being announced as creative director at Sperry in September, his debut Sperry by Chris Echevarria collection debuted at Paris Fashion Week Men's last month. On this week's episode of the Glossy Podcast, Echevarria discusses the throughline of his projects, as well as his long-term goals for his businesses and a recent advertising pivot that's working to his brands' advantage.
The apostle Paul, author of a series of letters in the New Testament, had a vocation by which he took care of himself through the day: tentmaking. Indeed, as a pharisee, Paul was required to learn such a trade so that he had a meaningful, marketable skill with which to earn his daily bread and bless others. The idea is so popular that individuals in education or in ministry refer to side jobs (or even a full-time job) as "tentmaking"--that is, something outside of their highly-specialized academic that is more technical and hands-on. In this episode, Winston Brady speaks with Miguel Echevarria, a professor of New Testament at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC about the idea of tentmaking and how students can learn from Paul's example. Dr. Echevarria is the co-author of a new book on Paul entitled, "40 Questions About the Apostle Paul," available here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/40-Questions-About-Apostle-Paul/dp/0825447526/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3IIHUOPSYNUKN&keywords=miguel+echevarria&qid=1704821075&sprefix=miguel+echev%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-1

On the twelfth episode of All the Film Things, I am joined by my friends photojournalist Cole Echevarria and director Craig Pedroza to talk about a #FilmTwitter trend where we each name our favorite film from a list of highly acclaimed directors. The directors listed were: Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, and James Cameron. This episode contains a few spoilers. This episode is the first of a new recurring segment- type episode on ATFT called #FilmTwitter Trends. As a film aficionado, I thoroughly enjoy #FilmTwitter. I often tweet my responses to the latest brilliant trend going around. Each trend is a fun, challenging topic to answer which makes for a great discussion with fellow film aficionados. This episode was not originally on the January schedule for ATFT. Due to a last minute cancellation, I took this episode out of the vault of episodes recorded on Relevnt. This episode was recorded back in April 2022 (before Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Killer were released) so the audio quality is, unfortunately, not as good as previous episodes. Hopefully, listeners will enjoy the conversation and will not be bothered by the more- poor quality. As recurring listeners may know, Cole is back for his fourth appearance on the "wide release" of ATFT. Craig has appeared on three episodes of ATFT but this is his first appearance on this "wide release"! This will not be the last time listeners will hear from Craig as he is scheduled to join the upcoming Oscar predictions episode alongside Cole! In this episode, Cole, Craig, and I discuss our favorite films from each of the directors previously listed as well as a few more we added. The few tangents include Craig discussing his opinion on why more recent films are more beneficial to watch than older films and trying to solve the name of the actor who starred in both Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (apologies to Matthew Modine). Cole and Craig share funny yet fearful stories relating to Jaws while I, a horror film scaredy- cat, remember how I came to enjoy The Shining.
