What exactly is your Economic Life Value and why does it matter? In this episode, Hans Toohey and Brian Moody delve into the often overlooked concept of Economic Life Value—your potential financial contribution over the course of your working life. While your intrinsic worth as a person is immeasurable, there is a tangible monetary value to your ability to earn, which can be insured. This value, known as Human Life Value, represents a significant asset, more important than tangible assets like homes or vehicles. For instance, a 25-year-old earning $100,000 annually has the potential to generate $4 million over a 40-year career. This calculation forms the basis for potential insurance coverage, underscoring the importance of maximizing this to safeguard your family's financial future. Personal development and strategic investments in oneself can boost one's Economic Life Value. Maximizing insurance coverage is both a financial strategy and a moral obligation to those who have families dependent on them. Tune in to learn how recognizing and insuring your Economic Life Value can offer security and stability for your loved ones, and why it's crucial to ensure this asset is fully protected. Differentiating Economic and Intrinsic Value: There's a difference between a person's intrinsic value, which cannot be measured monetarily, and their Economic Life Value, which is the potential income one can generate over their career. This Economic Life Value can be insured, representing the monetary value of one's ability to earn. Importance of Maximizing Insurance Coverage: It's crucial to maximize life insurance coverage to match one's Economic Life Value. This ensures that in the event of an untimely death, one's family remains financially secure, and can provide the monetary value of their income even if they are no longer around to earn it. Investment in Self: Invest in personal development to increase one's Economic Life Value. Investing in education, skills, and mindset can lead to higher income potential, which, in turn, can and should be protected through appropriate insurance coverage. Moral Responsibility to Family: It's not just a financial strategy but also a moral obligation to secure life insurance that reflects one's full Economic Life Value. This ensures that dependents are not left in a precarious financial situation, aligning with the broader responsibility of providing for one's family even in one's absence. GOSPELS 9 FAMILY Today I'm doing number nine in the Gospel series and I'm calling today's word Family. I'm looking in Matthew and Luke, the two longest gospels, where Jesus teaches his disciples about prayer and then teaches them the Lord's prayer - The ‘Our Father' – the Father of his family in the earth. The accounts of this are in Matthew chapter six and in Luke chapter 12. Matthew has a bit more detail, so I'll go there. Reading in Matthew 6:5 ‘And when you pray, don't be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, so that people can see them. I'm telling you, they already have their reward. But for you, when you pray, go into your room, and close your door, and pray to your Father privately; and your Father who knows every hidden thing will openly show you afterwards how he has answered you'. This kind of prayer works. Jesus had criticised the show off Pharisees for good reason because they looked good on the outside but all they had on the inside were big egos. He called them hypocrites which means actors. Their prayers weren't for people's needs but instead were their opinions of how holy they were. So the first lesson from Jesus was don't pray for show because you're just putting your ego on display and not God. And then he gave them that radical prayer alternative. The earliest things that he did and said were radically radical, if you can make such a statement. He uncovered their religious hypocrisy and exposed their religious power plays and started a spiritual revolution and he never let up and in the end, they killed him for it. And Jesus is still speaking and leading that revolution from Heaven today if we want to listen. I want to unpack that radical prayer ‘Go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father privately about all the inner private things that are going on inside of you, the emotions the anxieties the hopes and dreams the threats and fears and the questions - all those questions all those uncertainties. And then he says - and your Father who knows every private hidden thing about you will listen to you - and what you need to hear or to see or to understand will be made clear and stare you in the face if you keep your antenna up.' The antenna of your togetherness with God that is always there for us. This was radical for those disciples to hear for several reasons, as it is for us. It was radical firstly because no one in all of Israel approached God as being their personal father - It was unheard of. But Jesus said that God was his personal Father all the time – he said he was the Son of God and he said I and the Father are one – and he also said that he only did what he heard the Father say, and that is what drove the Pharisees mad. Jesus said it because it was true, and Jesus wasn't mad, and he wasn't a liar. The disciples would have heard him saying that a lot and they would have believed it because of all the wisdom that he spoke and all of the amazing miracles he performed. But why did Jesus say to them ‘pray to Your Father? ‘Why didn't Jesus just tell them to pray to his Father because they would certainly have understood that. But he said to the disciples ‘Your Father.' What was Jesus saying? And here's the second radical thing. Jesus was inviting them to become part of the God family with the Father and himself and the Holy Spirit. He wanted them all to become brothers and sisters with him as their big brother. This is why he said ‘Pray to your Father' This was the Father's idea from the beginning, and this is why he sent Jesus to us and to give his Holy spirit to each one of us so that we would know we can become part of his family. This had never been said before - never even been thought of before. That's why I'm calling today's word Family – It's like God 1.01 his big idea. Church should be more like this instead of being like an institution. He then goes on to teach them the ‘Our Father' prayer, not just a ‘his Father,' prayer, but the Our Father prayer. The ‘Our Father' is not a religious prayer ritual to be said in a pious voice in sombre tones as if the more pious you sound the more spiritual you are. That is missing the point of God's idea of who you are and who he is and what you mean to him as his child in his family. God is all about family. He started the idea. Why does it get forgotten? It's probably because many church people have tended to talk about church rules and religion rather than loving and caring relationships. I was taught in my early years in the catechism the answer to the question ‘Why did God make us? The answer was ‘To know, love, and serve God in this life and to be with him forever in the next. Amen.' And most Christians agree with that statement, but some think the emphasis is all about being a servant more than anything else. Its not about God wanting more servants. let's look at that for a moment – ‘To know and to love and to serve'. That is a beautiful thing to understand. So how many people do you know, how many people do you love and how many people do you serve in your life? I would say there are many. First. You can't know someone if you don't relate to them. And you can't love them if you don't know them. I am not saying that knowing someone is loving them, but it starts there and when the relationship has qualities like acceptance and friendship, you're on the spectrum of liking and loving. And that could be on a range from say one to a hundred. And I'm not saying that liking and loving someone means you have to serve them. But what does serving them mean? It means that somewhere on a serving spectrum on a range of one to a hundred again you might want to just ‘be there' for them in one way or another. And being there for someone means you are actually serving them. Just think of some of the ways you could do that and are doing that. And it is good for everybody if that's always a two-way thing. from God's point of view he is committed to knowing and loving and serving us and he understands how difficult it is for us as his children (In our humanity) to be that way for him. loving parents have that same heart for their children They try to be there for their children giving them the best that they've got so their children can be the best that they can be. But God doesn't say if you are not going to be there for me I'm going to punish you and make you suffer. No - he says if you do want to know me and love me and be there for me you will live a fulfilled and meaningful life and you will make the world a better and happier place. If you choose to not live that way you will find you just end up causing yourself unnecessary suffering anyway. So the way I see us as being in the God Family with the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is that we can see God the Father as a devoted parent who has given us Jesus as our older brother who is dedicated to us. He has laid down his life for us so we can have his life within us and have the same faith and trust in his Father that he has. And we can see the Holy Spirit as the one who touches our hearts so we can know God and love and serve one another. That is the best kind of life there is on this earth. So Jesus tells his disciples about how Our Father wants to ‘be there' for all of us in the Lord's Prayer. I will pray it from Matthew's Gospel and then I will pray it how I hear the Holy Spirit speaks to me in the Our Father prayer. Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Our Father living in heaven you have the most exceptional and unique name, God. We want your way of commanding everything in the universe to play out here on earth as it does in Heaven. Please keep looking after our basic human needs every day. And forgive us for letting you down the way we do, just as we can forgive others who let us down, often without meaning to And keep us from the trap of always wanting to have what we want when we want it. Guard us from the powers of darkness For You are in majestic command of everything in the Universe with limitless power, and you give to us a stunning display of design and beauty in your creation now and through out all the ages. Amen When we pray to God we can pray with hope and expectation that he can do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He is devoted and dedicated to that.

Dennis R Wiles FBC Arlington June 27, 2021 2021 A JOURNEY OF FAITH Celebrating 150 Years of Ministry: Appreciating Our Past Anticipating Our Future JUNE 2021 Faith-Filled Families June 6 – July 3, 2021 Taking It to the Streets! James 2:14-26 FAITH-FILLED FAMILIES Trust God! Treat Each Other Well! Teach the Word! Taking it to the Streets! James 2:14-26 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God's friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. FAITH: It all begins with sincere faith. FAMILY: It is where we live! FRUIT: Our faith bears fruit through service!

Your pain can either become your PRISON or your PURPOSE!!! Are you one of those people who believe that all the pain you have experienced and been experiencing are just plain punishments? Then you must tune in to this episode to change that belief into its exact opposite. My guest today is one of the most inspirational and motivational people on the planet. He is a former American football wide receiver, speaker, author and his content reaches more than 60 million people weekly across his social media platforms. I am incredibly honored to have Trent Shelton, founder of RehabTime on the show today. He will make you realize that all the problems and pains were given to us by God for a reason. A bit about Trent's story: Trent's everything was sports. Since he was four or five years old, he played baseball, basketball, and football track. And all the way up to high school, he still played basketball, football and baseball. That was his identity. He was blessed to be an outstanding athlete in Texas, went to Baylor University on a full scholarship, and his career at Baylor went great. He had a chance to get drafted, and that was the picture that he's always painted. Draft day came. He was waiting for his name to be called, but he never heard it. And that's the first moment in his life where he felt like he wasn't in control, and he wasn't enough. That lasted for just a short while because he got a call. It's like a big war how the teams are calling him — the Cowboys, the Colts, and other teams. His uncle advised him and said, “Hey, go with the Colts. Don't go with the team that offers you the most money. Go to a place where they have nothing to give you but a fair shake.” So he signed an undrafted free agent deal, which was a very small signing bonus. Probably a few thousand dollars, and he had to work his way up. But in the same year, Trent ended up having the greatest preseason with the NFL. They brought him in, and they said, “Hey, you know we want to develop you. We have a lot of receivers — Marvin and Reggie. All these guys want to develop you and there's gonna be a good chance in the season. Somebody's gonna get hurt, you're going to be ready.” He went ahead and bought his car, got his apartment, and all those things. But within just three weeks, Trent got a call. It's what they call a “Terrible Tuesday”. They released him. He went back home and tried to suppress everything, and the suppression turned into depression. And two weeks later, Trent got called back. His career was very unstable. 2008 was his breaking point, and he just didn't care anymore. He didn't even want to live anymore. The only thing that kept him going during that time was his three-month-old son, Tristan. He knew that he had to keep living because his son needs his father in his life. Faith, family, and fitness: What do these three words mean to Trent? Faith It is the rock. It is everything, whether it's a spiritual relationship with faith or just the word in general. We are human beings, we operate off of faith. We have to strengthen it to be able to see the unseen, to be able to believe that there's something that's going to happen for our lives as we like to put it, and believe that there's a door that's going to open from my life that didn't exist yet. Family It is his accountability. It is who he does everything for, especially his immediate family. Fitness It's been a part of his life since he was five years old — obviously with sports. But now, even just moving his body, he would say movement influences mood. It is his release from stress, and it builds on his mental toughness. What is Trent's biggest joy in life? His biggest joy is being able to coach his son's football team. He would rather do that than go speak on the stage in front of 5000 people. Because he knows that the seeds that he is planting in his family's life will not just affect this generation, but also future generations. “I don't want to be successful to the world and unsuccessful to my family. It doesn't matter if people say, ‘I love Trent Shelton.' but my kids are like, ‘I don't love my father.' or ‘My father is not here.'” - Trent Shelton What pieces of advice can Trent give to anybody who's struggling to decide whether to let someone go or not? Just because they're a good person doesn't mean they're good for you. Always try to ask yourself, “Where is this bridge leading to? Is this bridge leading me to a greater version of myself? Or is it leading you to a lesser version of myself?” And if your answer is a lesser version of yourself, you have to burn that bridge. For Trent, what is the reason why people like to run from their pain and their problems? Trent knows that running away from pain and problems is one of the three parts of the rehab process, which is the reality. Reality is hard to face. People want to stay blind to what they actually see, and they don't want to go through that emotional pain, that emotional journey, so they are going to just sweep it under the rug, as if it doesn't exist, than actually deal with it. How does sharing a message, helping others, and being of service inspire Trent's transformation? For Trent, it brings healing to his soul when someone else benefits from the things that he does — serving, sharing his story, and giving the things he learned from his story. He starts to realize that he didn't just go through all that for no reason. There was a greater purpose than the pain he was experiencing. In this Monday with Michael, I talk about how I overcame loneliness as a freelancer and provide some actionable steps for you to not feel the same way. One of our basic desires as humans is connection. When I worked my 9-5 I was surrounded by people to talk with and even though I didn't realize it at the time, those mundane conversations and meetings provide connection. When I left my job in May 2017, it was very exciting to create my own schedule, not shower to noon and experience all that freedom of doing what I wanted to do! At the same time though, I was suffering in silence and battling thoughts that I wasn't good enough. This spiraled into thinking I wasn't worthy enough to go out to eat, rent an office or hang out at a coffee shop. Things had to change! What to Do if You Feel Lonely as a Freelancer 1. Take the Myers Briggs Personality Test I have felt more energized in the last 6 - 8 months because I have made it a point to get out and be with people. This all started with taking a personality test, realizing I was an extrovert and then finding ways to connect with other people through group fitness classes. The upside of this has been that I am more productive when I am in my office getting work done! 2. Stay in Touch with Your Circle of Friends and Family It's easy to be 'out of sight, out of mind' when you work from home but it is very important to be intentional and stay connected with those whom you care about and who care about you! Make the time to grab dinner or a movie with a friend. It may feel counterproductive to go out rather than stay at home 'working'; but in reality, most people are not more productive than 24 - 30 hours per week. I have found that I am more productive in my work life when I have created a balance of work/play in my personal life. Earn your first $1,000 as a writer here -- inspireyoursuccess.com/1k

You can be successful in many areas of your life. Work, Sleep, Family, Fitness, or Friends: Pick 3. I recently stumbled upon an article online with that title. And I have to tell you guys, I disagree with it. The idea that you can’t work, get enough sleep, and have time for family, friends and fitness is crazy. I’m tired of hearing the message that if you’re winning at work, you're failing at home. Or if you're winning at home, you're failing at work. What's interesting is, not only is this message common in media, but it’s also reinforced by the narratives in our heads. So many of us have this broken record on repeat in our heads telling us we're always failing. It's not if we're failing. It's which thing are we failing at today. But you know what? It's simply not true. Now, I know you can't do everything in the world (of course you can’t). But you can do the most important things. You can't take advantage of every single opportunity, but you can do the right things, and you can do more than three things. The truth is: You can be successful in many areas of your life. Related: Ep 84: Cultivating Good Habits in Every Season of Life 7 Areas of Your Life to Find Balance I love Zig Ziglar’s Wheel of Life. It paints a great picture of the most important areas of a person's life. If you’re not sure where you should be prioritizing your time, these seven areas are a great place to start. The Wheel of Life isn’t a prescription for every single person, but it does hold true for most of us. Just like a bicycle, when one wheel isn’t working, the entire bicycle will have trouble moving forward. That’s why it’s important to find as much harmony and balance as possible in each area. Let’s go through each of the different spokes of the Wheel of Life and what they each represent. This list is not in order of priority. You should prioritize these different areas based on your season of life, and then set appropriate goals in each. 1. Career (and Business) You spend a lot of hours of your life at work or in your business. So this should be an area of your life that brings you joy and fills you up. 2. Finances Your money affects everything. It impacts almost everything you want to do in life. That’s why you need to be intentional about how you manage your finances and set goals in this area of your life. 3. Spiritual growth Growing in your faith is not going to happen accidentally. Your relationship with God is like any relationship. It will grow in proportion to the amount of time you invest in it. 4. Physical health I’m not talking about being skinny here. I'm talking about how you feel. How's your energy? Are you sleeping enough? How are you taking care of yourself? We only get one body, so taking care of it should be a priority. 5. Intellectual growth Are you investing in your personal development? What books are you reading? What conferences are you attending? What podcasts are you listening to? What are you putting into your mind that will change the actions you take and the decisions you make? 6. Family It's really easy to take family for granted because they're just always there, right? But you know what? Your relationship with your family will grow in proportion to the amount of time you invest in it. So find time to pour into your family members. 7. Social This area includes your friendships, hobbies, creative outlets, etc. It's really easy to neglect this one when you get busy. Friendships tend to fall by the wayside. But without friendships and hobbies, your life will feel unbalanced. Related: Ep 67: How to Build Community With Your Business I know it can feel overwhelming to think that these seven areas of your life need to be perfectly balanced. But remember, life balance isn't doing everything for an equal amount of time. It's about doing the right things at the right time. It's about finding confidence in the choices that are right for you, knowing what those are, and then making them a priority. You know, successful women don't do everything, but they do know that they can be successful at many things. And if you focus on your priorities, then you can too. Being Successful in Many Areas of Life with Sarah Sloyan, Jen Sievertsen, and Suzanne Simms Y’all, today is a special day because I’m sitting down with three incredible women! Sarah Sloyan, Jen Sievertsen and Suzanne Simms are all senior leaders at our company, Ramsey Solutions. You may recognize these women from past Business Boutique conferences, where they sat on panels discussing topics like balancing family life with demanding careers. I had so much fun sitting down with each of them again—this time, individually. These interviews are jam-packed with incredible insight and wisdom into becoming a successful, well-rounded woman. Sarah Sloyan is the senior vice president of EntreLeadership. But with three young kids at home, I wanted to talk to her about how she makes time for more than just family and career. We talked about: Giving yourself grace when expectations aren’t met Prioritizing the most important things according to your season of life Letting go of unrealistic standards and cultural norms Related: Ep 59: How to Work Smarter Not Harder in Your Life and Business Jen Sievertsen is a Ramsey Solutions board member and the chief marketing officer. I so admire the way Jen leads with such grace and strength. That’s why I wanted to talk to her about: Being a strong female leader without being a bulldozer Going after something even when you don’t feel ready Leading people who are older and more experienced than you Suzanne Simms is a Ramsey Solutions board member and the senior executive vice president of the business to consumer division. Suzanne is gifted in saying no and standing her ground. We talked about: Taking your season into account when setting goals The most important question to ask yourself after you’ve set a goal How to know when it’s time to quit something Challenge: The Best Way to Have What You Want A few months ago, my husband and I decided we were going to finally move forward with a bathroom remodel. Now, our bathroom isn’t terrible, but it's also not great. In our house, it's probably one of my least favorite rooms. There's no counter space, the bathtub is tiny, there’s old tile all over the place—it’s just a sad, pitiful room. So, you can imagine my excitement when we finally decided to get it updated. We found a contractor, signed the contract, put a deposit down, and locked in the demo date on the calendar. What’s so interesting is that from that moment forward, I became more frustrated with my bathroom than ever before. I could now envision the brand-new, luxurious bathroom we dreamed up with the contractor. So, every day, when my makeup brushes would fall into the sink or my legs would be cramped up in the tub, I would get even more annoyed than I’d been before we decided on a remodel. Related: Ep 70: How to Be Content in Every Situation Well, there was a small turn of events: The handyman had a scheduling conflict outside of his control and had to cancel our bathroom remodel. Y'all, I was so disappointed that I didn't even want to go out and get a new quote. All my dreams and excitement for a beautiful, new bathroom went out the window. Well, last night when I got home, our neighbors were out on the front yard and asked if we wanted to walk down to the duck pond with the kids. So, I grabbed my family and we joined them on the walk. And when we got back, the kids spent some time jumping on the trampoline. And as I watched them jump, I thought, You know what? We live in the greatest house, in the greatest location, in the greatest city ever. I would not want to live anywhere else. And immediately, my perspective shifted from being disappointed about our bathroom to being so grateful for a beautiful house with great neighbors. And then it dawned on me: The best way to have what you want is to want what you have. There are so many people who would give anything to have our old, 1983 bathroom. There are so many people who would love to live in our house and be friends with our awesome neighbors. There are so many people who would love to live in this location and enjoy the yard we have. All of a sudden, I was so grateful. It's amazing how choosing to want what you already have changes your perspective. Friend, I know you want bigger and better things. I love helping you go after your dreams and chase your big goals. But I just want to encourage you today: Don't get so focused on the finish line and so focused on the next thing that you miss the now. Don’t miss the opportunity to be grateful for what you have today. Remember, the things we have today are things we prayed for years ago.

Hide your best “unbreakable” china, and pray that your washing machine is in working order. Mommy and Daddy are out of town and the only thing they left for us to watch was John Hughes’s 1989 comedy Uncle Buck. Imagine getting up to record the podcast only to find stack of gargantuan pancakes, and our underwear freshly pressed, straight from the microwave? Who could have done this? John Candy…really? He may be a bit of a slob, and his car may be just be a death trap, and he may threaten to dismember our boyfriends with a hatchet…but he really doesn’t seem like that bad of a guardian. Will we each survive this surreal week at the Russell house, while keeping our kneecaps intact? You’ll have to tune into Nightcaps at Theater to find out.
