Listen in, as we teach you the 10 Principles of Being Successful -- more accurately, as described in the podcast would be to refer to these principles as "common traits of extremely successful people"... Which is even better in our minds, because what you are about to learn is not "theory" or "speculation"... it's REAL PRINCIPLES that are shared amongst the most successful people in the world! And better yet, they cannot be debated because they've been proven time and time again by these individuals (as well as Cody, himself). So listen, learn, and apply these 10 principles if YOU, too, want to be successful. PRINCIPLE #1: THEY HAVE A SERIOUS PASSION FOR THEIR PURSUIT. PRINCIPLE #2: THEY HAVE AN UNDERLYING PAIN THAT DRIVES THEM. PRINCIPLE #3: THEY AREN'T MOTIVATED BY MONEY OR RECOGNITION. PRINCIPLE #4: THEY'RE WILLING TO MAKE SACRIFICES IN ORDER TO WIN. PRINCIPLE #5: THEIR DISCIPLINE IS STRONG ENOUGH TO REPLACE A NEED FOR MOTIVATION.  PRINCIPLE #6: THEY HAVE MORE SELF-BELIEF, THAN THEY DO SELF-DOUBT. PRINCIPLE #7: THEY VALUE TIME MORE THAN DOLLARS. PRINCIPLE #8: THEY SHAPE THEIR ENVIRONMENT TO HELP THEIR SUCCESS, BY ANY MEANS. PRINCIPLE #9: THEY CREATE SYSTEMS FOR EVERYTHING THEY CAN. PRINCIPLE #10: THEY PRIORITIZE THEIR HEALTH. —

Launch Your Box Podcast with Sarah Williams | Start, Launch, and Grow Your Subscription Box

This week my guest is LYB OG Debbie Poole, founder of the Create Happy Box, and we're talking about fear. Starting your own subscription box business is a risk and taking on risk means having to deal with fear. Fear is that thing deep inside all of us that all entrepreneurs will need to be able to deal with, because that fear follows you through your whole business. We need to be able to identify that fear and to know it for what it is so that we can deal with it and move forward.   Know Your Fears   When it comes to starting your new business, launching a subscription box, or moving on to the next step, we're going to have our doubts dancing around our heads trying to stop us from progressing. It's not only at the beginning of our launch, but all through the process:   -Fear of Failing -Fear of Not being good enough -Fear of Disappointing others -Fear of Cancellations -Fear of Being Successful and Growing   As you can see, fear can follow you all the way through your business cycle, and even make you afraid to succeed too much! But if we know what fears we may encounter, we can be ready for them.   The first and best way to overcome and beat this fear is to do the steps. Build your audience, do the live videos and become an expert in the skill your box is going to be about. Once you have your audience, make sure you're listening to what they want. Debbie asked her audience what they wanted in a box, and they were ready to tell her. “I began asking my ride or die customers what they wanted, questions like what kind of projects, paints or no paints…all the questions.”   Remember, don't try to be all the things! Your audience will tell you what they want and if you listen, you can build a box that will fly off the shelves. But you need to also remember that you're not going to please everybody all the time. There will be cancellations, but if you keep developing your business, there will be growth to replace those cancellations.   It can be easy to let fear stop your progress, but it can also help you keep your focus if you know it for what it is. Follow the steps and do the work to build your audience, listen to them when they tell you what they want, and be ready for the future of your business and remember, don't let anything hold you back!   You can find Debbie and the Create Happy Box at: https://www.paintandwood.com/pages/the-diy-tiered-tray-create-happy-box-waitlist   Remember to subscribe to the podcast on your favorite podcast provider, as well as leave a 5-star rating and a review! In this episode, we have invited Tom Brush, a non-profit consultant and coach who works with non-profit stakeholders and institutions to develop policies to enhance participation in their electoral environments, actively organize volunteers and committees, maximize private, corporate and charity giving, and strategically manage the donor. Today, Tom shares how to understand and know what your mission is – one assumes this is a given, but sadly, not for many nonprofits. How people make money. [2:08]In nonprofits, sometimes, all they think about is the dollar amount at the end. How much time and effort, and energy is it going to go to raise whatever it is? So a lot of times, if they took that time and leveraged it differently, it might be more effective.Building Relationships[3:38]If you don't understand the relationship or the perspective of that relationship, you're going to send them the wrong message, and they're not going to be engaged.Better Connection to People[5:44]There are a lot of questions to donate to charity. There may be a lower degree or a beginning level of discomfort. It could all be about your mother having cancer or your grandma having cancer. And what they truly want is a way to sustain their lives.Understanding Rejection[10:01]You just must understand and take yourself out of it. Key areas in Non-profit[13:08]Timing is key in the nonprofit world. You can put all the messaging out that you want, but it won't reach them if it doesn't touch them. It's a tough thing because it's so individual but buying is personal.Rubik's Cube analogy [15:36]When he was a kid, he spent his time playing Rubik's Cube, and when it just got me thinking about, you know, there are processes for how we solve problems. And for us to understand that everybody's going to get to result differently. We can't just say, here's my system, throw it on them, and it's going to work. You need to act.[18:17]People in the nonprofit world can't slow down and evaluate their work. You slow down, assess your work, and figure out what you could have done better. He believes coaching can help you become more effective and efficient in your work. Tom thinks that's the beauty of coaching. It's straightforward, but it's not easy.[20:23]It's one thing if we want to get it done and get it out there. Sometimes action is better than inaction. You're so ingrained in what you're doing that it's hard to step back and remember.Being Successful.[22:08]Tom thinks it's always evaluating where you are. He says you can have success but sometimes that you get lucky, and you have success.[22:34]He felt that every time where he had that feeling of like he really was able to sustain and do something significant.[23:23]A look at your perspective on leveling up. What do you need to do to see yourself at the next level? What do I need to change about the words I use and the people I spend my time with? You must have a plan.Getting more Donors and Clients.[28:18]You know that many times people who run an agency get in the way of egos. Let me find the most brilliant absolute people I can do the stuff I can't do. And let me know how to make their path clear.Embodiment your Mission[30:16]Your mission is all based on that phrase; what is your Why? Why are we doing this? What is the point of all of this? The why is because you need to make more money, great. Tom thinks having competence in, what your mission is, what your why is, and how you're going to get there makes all the difference. What is your Why?[35:14]Tom wants to help the world figure out how to be better at what they're doing. Because he knows there are a lot of people out there who struggle with, he struggled with it at times. It's going to help you move forward. And so when you have those types of people, it just made my world that much easier.https://advancementdesigns.com/ignite-your-nonprofit-organization.html Hosted on Acast. Today we're celebrating mom entrepreneurs! Some call us mompreneurs, but basically, we're talking about moms who run their own businesses. What is a mom entrepreneur, or "mompreneur"? According to a quick Google search, a mompreneur is: "a woman who sets up and runs her own business in addition to caring for her young child or children." Well that's the basic, glossed-over version, isn't it? As moms, we're responsible for all kinds of things-all the time. There's grocery shopping, laundry, doctor's appointments, laundry, after school activities, laundry . . . it's a full-time job (and a half). And adding a business into the mix makes it feel like we're working several full-time jobs. As a business owner, you're the CEO-but you're also the bookkeeper, chief marketing officer, receptionist, saleswoman, creative director and the janitor. It's no wonder that being both a mom and an entrepreneur can feel a tad overwhelming at times. Being Successful in Both Business and Motherhood Back when I was a little girl with a front-row seat to watching my mom chasing her dream and running her business, they hadn't coined a trendy catchphrase for what she was doing. And what she was doing was hard. I remember arriving at the cake shop one dark morning at 3 a.m. to shattered glass everywhere. Mom's shop had been broken into, and we were standing there in fear, wondering if the person who did it was still inside. I remember getting stuck with Mom in the rain with a flat tire and getting locked out of the house without any money. All of this happened before the age of cell phones, by the way. And as a working mom myself, when I think back on all that, I don't know how Mom did it. She didn't have even half of the help that I have! She raised me and made a way for us-all while running a business. So whether you're a single mom like mine or just a tired mom, this episode is for you. Related: How to Deal With Mom Guilt Now, before you think I'm going to give you life hacks, methods, efficiencies, and ways to get more done, stop right there. That's not what this episode is about. There are just two things I want you to remember when it comes to your journey in business and in motherhood: You cannot do it all. You are enough. The women who do well in both business and in life know and practice these two things. In this episode, I'll give you very practical examples from my own life about how I live this day to day. I'll teach you how to master these mind-sets like a boss-a mom boss! After all, God gave you your family and your business-and He doesn't make mistakes. My Guest This Week Is My Mom: Entrepreneur Darlene Therber! You may already feel like you know my mom from all my stories about the bakery I was practically raised in, but today, it's time for you to hear from her directly! She's the woman I have watched persevere with an absurd level of persistence. I've watched her do the right thing, even when it cost her. I've seen her go above and beyond for her customers time and time again. I've watched how she always paused and talked to homeless people-even in the middle of the night when we were downtown unloading bags of powdered sugar and flour. In honor of Mother's Day weekend, it's my honor to have her as our podcast guest this week. In this episode, Mom and I talk about: How she came up with her business idea and actually made it happen Unique ways she set herself apart from the competition (before anyone was teaching this stuff!) How she convinced a candy store to give her the space in their front window to put her product on display Life-balance and how to integrate the different areas of your life in a way that works for your family Lessons she's learned from over 30 years in business as a female entrepreneur Entrepreneurs Need Self-Care, Too Like I said before, being both a mom and a business owner is hard work. And as a result, we...

But do we have the power, in and of ourselves, to raise our kids into successful God-fearing adults? Does shaping their behaviors necessarily mean we've shaped their hearts? And what kind of room are we willing to give God in the course of being His ambassadors of grace to our foolish offspring? Paul David Tripp is a pastor, author, and conference speaker. He is the President of Paul Tripp Ministries where he works to connect the transforming power of Jesus Christ to everyday life. Paul is the author of 17 books on Christian living, he has produced 14 teaching series, planted a church, founded a Christian school, and travels around the world for speaking at events. Today, Paul shares his book: Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that can Radically Change Your Family. With a heart for pastors, Paul is also the Executive Director of The Center for Pastoral Life and Care. Paul lives in Philadelphia, PA with his wife, Luella. They have four grown children. Paul's driving passion is to help people understand how the gospel of Jesus Christ speaks with practical hope into all the things people experience in this broken world. What is the Key to Being Successful as a Parent Well, if we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times here on the License to Parent broadcast: "The only perfect parent that ever existed was God the Father—and look what His first two kids did!" It even went downhill from there! That doesn't mean we can disregard the teachings of Scripture when it comes to raising our kids. As godly parents, our first priority is still to heed God's Word, will, and way. If we do that, not only will we keep from making idols out of our own kids—or ourselves for that matter—we'll be walking in obedience to God. And that's always a good thing, even though it can sometimes look and feel incredibly different from what we may have actually envisioned for ourselves as good parents. This is just like the approach we take with the kids here at Shepherds Hill Academy—all we can do is obey God by creating an authoritative community environment where we can cultivate the soil of our student's hearts. In this environment, the seed of God's Spirit and grace has a place to take root and bear fruit. God will give the increase as we partner with Him in the things He has called us to do as parents, so that He can do the things that only He can do as God. Trace Embry and Paul David Tripp discuss godly parenting as they cover the following topics: What lead Paul to develop his parenting resource? Paul's book: Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that can Radically Change Your Family. Why parents need to provide loving boundaries and rules. The true calling a parent has in the lives of their children. Is there really a need for grace? How to extinguish your parenting bad habits. What does grace look like when your child is physically abusive to a parent. Picture provided by: dagon
