“Train like a fighter, think like a soldier, fight like a warrior.  I believe confidence has to be done with inoculation.  In martial arts we have stress and aggression drills that inoculate us to pain, it's like they give us a little bit of poison, and the next night a little more poison, then a year and a half later, when we are in the arena with real fighting, we can perform.  In sparring you have to give students inoculations, it's got to be done in a logical progression, because if you don't do it in a logical progression, those students will break.  So first they need to learn defensive maneuvers, then they got to learn how to block and get hit, it's got to be done in a systematic progression with sparring drills that lead the way.  This is how you build confidence.”—Mike Lee KanarekMy guest this episode is Mike Lee Kanarek, who is a multi discipline martial arts master.  He is the founder of Haganah, a 6'th degree Black Belt in Joe Lewis Fighting Systems, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a 1'st Degree black belt in Krav Maga, a Brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Former Special Forces.  He was inducted into the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame and was Instructor of the year in 2007.  He is a teacher of teachers and has instructed Special Units in every branch of the US Military. This episode is all about progressively developing the warrior spirit and trusting yourself in combat.  My key takeaway is that constant growth and evolution is essential to building trust and performing under pressure.  In life and death situations, those who have prepared themselves by testing themselves under pressure, will have the confidence to execute in chaos.  A principles based modular approach that addresses the physical, mental, tactical, and spiritual aspects of an individual is essential for growth and development in combat and in life.  We discuss the importance of integrating fighting training from sports combat with self-defense training to develop a complete martial artist.  Mr. Kanarek is truly a Machine, he has a unique sense of his purpose, and is driven to make the world a safer place by creating warriors on and off the battlefield.  Join me for an amazing episode with a one of a kind martial arts personality.

In the latest episode of the Money Mastery Unleashed podcast, host Adam Olson, a certified financial advisor, presents a concise Sunday short episode, blending financial wisdom with leadership principles. Drawing from John Maxwell's "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership," Adam explores the "Law of the Lid," emphasizing how a leader's ability caps their overall effectiveness. He illustrates this with the biblical story of David and Goliath and the leadership outcomes of Hebrew kings. Transitioning to his own book, "21 Things You Need to Know About Money," Adam discusses the importance of saving at least 20% of one's income for retirement before assisting with children's college expenses. He warns against the generational cycle of debt and advocates for prioritizing long-term financial security. Adam's challenge to listeners is to elevate their leadership potential within their households and to model behaviors they wish their children to emulate. He shares practical advice on using Roth IRAs for both retirement and educational savings, underscoring the necessity of breaking the cycle of financial dependency.  "Don't sacrifice your retirement for your children's college. Be the one in your family to prioritize long-term financial planning." Equinix, Inc., the world's digital infrastructure company, is calling for municipal planning agencies, energy utilities and heat network operators around the world to join the Equinix Heat Export program to unlock the value of the residual heat generated in its International Business Exchange (IBX) data centres. Equinix's innovative Heat Export program recovers residual heat from its IBX data centres and exports it to buildings in surrounding communities, providing a cleaner alternative to traditional methods at a time of rising global energy prices and supply constraints. The company has implemented several Heat Export initiatives across Europe and the Americas with projects in France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and Canada. Beginning next month, Equinix plans to export heat in its newest IBX in Paris, PA10, and transfer it to the Plaine Saulnier urban development zone and the Olympic Aquatic Centre, which will host several events during the 2024 Summer Olympics. Heat exported from TR5, one of Equinix's IBX data centres in Toronto, is distributed throughout multiple residential buildings, as well as a nearby hotel, university and local shopping centre in downtown Markham. TR5 also services multiple buildings with domestic hot water all year long, thanks to the heat network of Equinix's energy partner, Markham District Energy. Equinix is dedicated to expanding its Heat Export program in suitable locations, where data centres can serve as valuable heat sources for local communities. It is actively seeking partnerships with organisations such as heat network operators, energy utilities and local municipalities to bring heat export projects to fruition. By collaborating with these entities, Equinix aims to make a significant positive impact in the communities where it operates. "Our Heat Export program is one important way data centres can give back to their local communities," explained Gary Aitkenhead, SVP, EMEA IBX Operations, Equinix. "However, it is only possible through collaboration with energy providers, governments and other third-party enablers. So, we are asking for more partners to join the program and re-use the heat from our operations for the good of people and our planet." Globally, Equinix is investing in new and innovative technologies in energy efficiency, renewable energy and heat export projects as part of its global Future First sustainability strategy, focusing on areas that have the greatest impact on customers and key stakeholders. The company was the first in the data centre industry to align to an approved short-term science-based target, for emissions reduction across its global operations and supply chain by 2030. It is also a founding signatory of the EU Climate Neutral Data Centre Operator Pact, which is leading advocacy and steering the development of sustainability requirements for the EU data centre industry to become climate neutral by 2030. For more details about becoming a partner in the Equinix Heat Export program, please contact heatexport@equinix.com. See more stories here.

Last year my friend Lindsay de Swart and I sat down for a Fireside Chat episode where we took a look forward into where we might be in a year. Lindsay never would have realistically guessed what her year might look like. She took a deep dive into  her life, her marriage, and everything that was affected by those and turned her world upside down. When her family's future was at a fork in the road, she chose to take the road less traveled, but the one she knew she HAD to take. I know that we will all be touched in some way by her story. Facing fear. Having to put ourselves first sometimes. Having to upset the apple cart of others and the guilt over that. Knowing and accepting that change needs to happen. Admitting that things aren't perfect and owning that.  Beating back all the judgement and guilt  from herself and others and then and relying outside help to get her through when she couldnl't do it herself.I think when we face all of these things, we find out who we truly are and what we are truly capable of. My friend Lindsay is one of the strongest women that I know. I guarantee all of you are the second strongest women that I know. As  Glennon Doyle says, We Can Do Hard Things, especially when we know that we will be lost if we don't.If you find also find yourself in a place where big change needs to happen before you are lost, know that change and making big pivots takes time and sacrifice. But it's important to make that investment. I may not know you personally, but I know you. You are worth it and you deserve it. Thanks for listening today. Future First are the UK education charity helping young people in state schools and colleges broaden their horizons by connecting them with former pupils. Their mission is to see every state school and college supported by a thriving and engaged alumni community, which improves students' motivation, confidence and life chances. Future First provides schools and colleges with the technology, tools and support needed to mobilise their past pupil networks. Alumni can support the whole school community and delivery of school improvement plans, including meeting Gatsby Benchmarks, Baker Clause and PHSE goals. For too many young people, their start in life is limiting their future. They do not have access to relatable role models to help them understand what they can achieve, nor the networks, knowledge and tools to help them to get there. Alumni can act as relatable role models, showing students a world beyond their current experience and expectations: a future that could be theirs. My fears and anxiety melt away, I have a new found confidence and faith and I feel even more open and grateful for what I have but also what exciting things the future holds for me. If you want this to work for you, you need to be open, you need to give it a go and give it a chance to work for you. The moment something happens, not matter how small, you must acknowledge it but you also much say thank you to the universe or your faith of choice. Words can't really explain how this works or even how powerful it is but it just is. Let me know how you go with this... There's Nick Bosa and Dre'Mont Jones, but how many other future first-round NFL Draft picks populate the roster of the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes? Bill Landis and Doug Lesmerises dug into that and much more on the latest episode of Buckeye Talk from cleveland.com, as Ohio State prepares to face Tulane on Saturday. Honestly, this podcast is more than two hours long, and I think the only time we said the name Tulane is when we were asked why this game is kicking off at 3:30. We were buoyed by a new Buckeye Talk theme song, created by Mike Lewis in Nashville, so listen to that sweet tune. And we visited with Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated and Ryan McGee of ESPN and grilled them on why they picked the overrated Wisconsin Badgers to make the College Football Playoff. Bill and I then talked some about what's next with Ohio State recruiting, the future for Dwayne Haskins and Ryan Day, what should happen at the safety position for the Buckeyes and a ton of other things you asked about. It's just another Buckeye Talk. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Creating New Value Frontiers through Future First Leadership: A Conversation with Alice Mann of Mann Advisors Organizational psychologist Alice Mann talked with over 60 sustainable business leaders to find out how they're innovating in the face of today's global challenges. Her new book, Future First: How Successful Leaders Turn Innovation Challenges into New Value Frontiers, distills what she learned into these five business practices. In Future First, Mann argues that the three biggest challenges we face—climate change, resource scarcity, and social dynamism—offer opportunities for business to get out ahead of tomorrow's market demands and beat the competition, while making a positive impact on the world. The Bard MBA's Heather Bowden spoke with Mann about her work and Future First for the Impact Report.   #leadthechange ImpactReportPodcast.com

Hey, did you know that Back to the Future was originally written in 1981, featured a refrigerator-based time machine, an organ grinder monkey named Shemp and a bonkers ending? It stalled out for a few years before being rewritten as the movie we all know and love but we wanted to explore what might have been, if only someone had jumped at that original draft. This is our first foray into material outside our own body of work and we had a LOT of fun with it! Unlike what we’ve done so far, there’s no way to call this script awful, but working through the differences between this and the Back to the Future we know is a blast. Being a feature, we had to split this up into a few episodes. This is part 1. Enjoy.
