In this episode we'll celebrate a personal milestone for myself. Then we'll visit two fountains at Disney's Hollywood Studios and at Disney California Adventure. These fountains anonymously acknowledge William Mulholland and his contribution to bringing water to the state of California. He was a key figure in Golden Dreams, an early Disney California Adventure presentation that celebrated the heritage of the Golden State. He was even the namesake of an early Disney roller coaster attraction. We'll look at this fascinating figure and the leadership lessons that can be found from his life and legacy. For all you Disney fans out there, I had the honor to co-host a segment called The Mouse and The Music on the Imagineer Podcast. This is the full two parter deep dive conversation we had on our favorite attractions in Disney parks including Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disneyland, and California Adventure. Here's the description: Music at the Disney Parks is so iconic that several attraction themes have been popular for generations. From Sherman Brothers classics like it's a small world and The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room to modern favorites like Golden Dream and even Nothing Can Stop Us Now, Disney attraction themes and scores help convey the story of the attraction and leave Disney fans singing along as they exit the experience. In this podcast episode (part 1), I chat with my cousin Mike (a music industry executive and lifelong Disney fan) about our favorite attraction soundtracks, including the stories behind them and why we love these themes so much. In part 1, we discuss our favorites at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. In our next episode (part 2), we'll discuss our favorites at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure. Check out the Imagineer Podcast! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to hear some words of inspiration as we head to Disneyland to watch Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on March 8, 2022. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we visit Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland to watch Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Revel in the stirring oratory of Abraham Lincoln—delivered in person—and explore rare Disneyland memorabilia. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as being Dark. Before we blast off, here are five fast facts about Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. 1. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln has its origins in the 1964 New York World's Fair where the show was the prime feature of the State of Illinois Pavilion. A year later the show debuted at Disneyland on July 18, 1965. Over there years there have been some show tweaks and name changes and now Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is an element of the broader Disney Attraction The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln which debuted on December 18, 2009. 2. As you'll hear in the pre-show, Lincoln is voiced by actor Royal Dano. The recording in the current version of the show includes portions of the original World's Fair version of the show but made from, then, newly discovered recordings of Dano's performance. 3. The model of the Capitol Building in the lobby of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln took 3 years to carve from stone. 4. The present day version of this attraction shares some similarities with Epcot's American Adventure. Not only are the songs Two Brothers and Golden Dream featured in the show, the 12 Spirits of America featured in The American Adventure can bee seen in the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln lobby area. 5. While the Lincoln audio-animatronic has always been state of the art, in 2009 it made the jump from hydraulics to electronic giving it more of a range of motion. Let's head to the lobby to catch the pre-show. After the show, I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we watch Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland. "The Story of the Iceberg Shipwreck" (discovered in His Dressing Case) is an exciting and ironic tale of disaster and derring-do on the high seas. Its narrator Monkhouse tells of the sinking of the good ship Golden Dream around Cape Horn after colliding with a massive iceberg. Cast onto the iceberg, Monkhouse discovers a group of other passengers as they battle to survive, led by quirky Able Seaman Tom White. How they interact and finally reach land makes for an entertaining exploration of Victorian class issues. The tale was written by Arthur Locker (1828-1893), an English novelist and journalist. His other fictional works include Sweet Seventeen (1866), Stephen Scudamore the Younger (1871) and notable translations of the works of Victor Hugo. Episode 3 of 7

Will an extra read and an extra week to reflect soften our hearts towards this, the so-called (by us, we called it that) "best" of the Kiesha'ra series? Spoiler Alert: no. No, it actually did the opposite. Sorry. Chill: Tangentially related drinks this time - Cyna is drinking a Golden Dream (orange juice, triple sec, vanilla vodka, and cream), and Ollie is drinking an Undeath in-- er, a Hawk's Keep (Absente absinthe - not on fire - and cold ginger ale). To kick off the third season of Attraction Checklist, we’re going to revisit an attraction we’ve already featured on the show but one that recently got an update. Way back in episode 3 we featured The American Adventure at EPCOT. On February 9, 2018, Disney announced that the attraction would be receiving a bit of a refresh. The theatre received all new digital projectors, a new screen and new speakers. The ending film montage received a new edit adding new notable figures from American history and the attraction’s signature song, Golden Dream, was rerecorded with all-new orchestration. So sit back and enjoy this recording of the refreshed American Adventure. After the audio, I’ll give you my thoughts on the update. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we head to EPCOT to experience The American Adventure. Alien Covenant Spoilers, I Had a Golden Dream, Perhaps it is Time for Depends and Someone had it out for Can Man
Chuck Prophet describes his new disc BOBBY FULLER DIED FOR YOUR SINS as “California Noir.” He says, “the state has always represented the Golden Dream, and it’s the tension between romance and reality that lurks underneath the surface in all noir films and paperbacks, and that connects these songs. Doomed love, inconsolable loneliness, rags to riches to rags again, and fast-paced violence are always on the menu on the Left Coast. Who is Bobby Fuller? He’s the star of the ultimate Rock and Roll Babylon feel-bad story. The title track came out of an obsession Prophet shares with co-conspirator klipschutz. Prophet explains, “One day we were sitting in my so-called office South of Market listening to LPs, when out of frustration –I picked up a guitar and shouted, ‘I hear that record crackle, the needle skips and jumps!’ and klipschutz shot back, ‘“Bobby Fuller died for your sins! One thing led to another, and ten months later he found himself at the legendary Hyde St. Studios in the heart of the Tenderloin “slaving over a hot two-inch tape machine, cutting tracks with Brad Jones, Paul Q. Kolderie, and Matt Winegar riding herd.” And pumping it all into the echo chamber. No computer in sight and two-inch tape boxes stacked up to the ceiling. The Mission Express, Prophet’s band, which includes his wife Stephanie Finch, provided the backing. “Talented, difficult people who all played their hearts out. You can hear it,” he says. And recording at Hyde Street – walking distance from his apartment – was a homecoming of sorts. “I did my first session there, in high school no less,” says Prophet. He even dragged out his ’64 Stratocaster, a guitar that Jonathan Richman said sounds, “like gasoline in the sand, like a motorcycle at a hot dog stand.”

No matter its shifting place in the wider world, the United States is still the only home of "The American Dream." That's why millions of legal and illegal immigrants flock to its shores, the latter gambling against increasingly longer odds to reach a new home fraught with risks. It's that reality that prompted filmmaker Diego Quemada-Díez to title his award-winning debut feature film"La Jaula De Oro”—“The Golden Cage." The Spanish-born Mexican director garnered three awards at the Cannes Film Festival for his tale of four Latin American teenagers struggling to come to America. Through his film, Quemada-Díez raises powerful and timely issues dealing including the plight of child migrants, such as those which flooded the U.S. last year and sparked a political storm. The film is critical of U.S. government policy, particularly the circumstances created by its economic and political interventions in Latin America. It also examines the impact of prohibitive immigration and drug laws. It is the most awarded film in Mexican history, winning more than 60 different accolades from around the world. "The Golden Cage" will debut for American audiences this summer on HBO. Tellingly, Hollywood has rebranded it as "The Golden Dream."

Jambeaux, everyone!!! Welcome to another episode of the Magic Our Way podcast. It is our first major holiday show!!! It’s is our 3.5 hour July 4th American Independence Day spectacular!!!!....not really. It is a long show, however...1 hour and 45 minutes long. Kevin had a lot of fun coming up with new jingles, background music, and sounds for this 4th of July special. What’s even better is that this is a regular format show...somewhat. LOL!!! In this week’s Queue, the boys do not necessarily chat about the latest news. However, while waiting in line, they do decide do a salute to patriotic things at all of the Disney parks.... but mostly Walt Disney World and Disneyland. A lot of help came from the Military Disney Tips blog on the www.militarydisneytips.com website. This website has a great series of blogs related to experiencing all things patriotic that happen in Walt Disney World. This is not just talking about the special events that happen on July 4th, but rather things of a patriotic nature that happen year-round. This is the stuff that makes the hairs on the back of an American’s head stand up whenever you visit them. Things mentioned include the Disney flag retreat, the Hall of Presidents, the American Adventure, and the Shades of Green resort. And then, in the Hub, the boys discuss a 1990s Eisner creation that never saw the light of day: Disney’s America theme park. This resort was to be placed in Haymarket, Virginia not far from Washington, D.C. This theme park was to be dedicated to the history of the United States from the 1840s to 1945. They explore the layout of the park including all of the lands, the proposed attractions, where some of the ideas ended up, and instances that led to the downfall and demise of Eisner’s pet project. And lastly, we end the show not with our regular closing jingle, but with the popular song from the American Adventure pavilion, “Golden Dream.” This celebrates the spirit of America and serves as our salute to the nation’s birthday. As always, if you like the show, please rate us and leave a review in the iTunes Store. We do appreciate you taking the time to do so. Also, you can find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@magicourway). Find some of our video statuses on Keek.com. If you have any suggestions or comments for the show, please do not hesitate to contact us at magicourway@gmail.com. We will be sure to read your email on the air, unless you tell us not to. We do want to hear from our fans and we want you to be part of our discussion. Also, check out our slowly growing website at www.qmarkproductions.com. Thanks again for listening to us. We do realize that you have many choices when it comes to Disney podcasts and we appreciate your attention. Also, we were talking about seatbelts. Plug them in. Use them. It can get kinda choppy out there, so keep your hands and arms inside the podcast at all times. Flash photography? I wouldn’t. It alters the podcast’s homing signal and that’s not good.
