In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Erik Olson, Jocelyn Brumbaugh, Jared Correia, and Gyi Tsakalakis discuss:Social media and your law firm.Doing research on LinkedIn for potential connections. Taking accountability for what you publish on social media. Directing people back to your website for the full content and owning your content on your website. Key Takeaways:Be on the social platforms that your audience is on. Keep your social media posts to information, not advice. Clients want to know about the legal process. Responding to negative reviews is not for the reviewer - it is for the next person who sees it and sees that you are recognizing it. Repurpose the content on your website for social media - don't make more work for yourself. All content should be guided through the eyes of your audience. "You've got to think about who your audience is. But I will tell you this, from a from a top of mind awareness standpoint, it's the best, the most efficient, and the most effective way to stay in front of your audience on a regular basis. It's cheaper than TV, it's cheaper than radio. Radio and TV don't even have the eyeballs and the attention span that social media has." — Gyi TsakalakisGet a free copy of Steve's book “Sales-Free Selling” here: www.fretzin.com/sales-free-selling Thank you to our Sponsors!Get Staffed Up: https://getstaffedup.com/bethatlawyer/Overture: https://overture.law/Get Visible: https://www.getvisible.com/Lawmatics: https://www.lawmatics.com/bethatlawyer/ Episode References: LinkedIn Examples: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanmckeen/https://www.linkedin.com/in/brewster-rawls/YouTube Examples: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCra2AXtKeyqnkAcToRAP8wwhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCFwfTmTPYWyj7F2tg6VPOzg2b1eRru8PClio Legal Trends: https://www.clio.com/resources/legal-trends/What Legal Consumers Want to Know Article: https://www.attorneyatwork.com/2019-clio-legal-trends-report-lawyers-fail-to-communicate-value/Coogan Knows the Law: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coogan-knows-the-law/id1701005291Simple Concepts for Legal Consumers: https://drewlewis.law/category/blog/Descript: https://www.descript.com/Think About Client Journeys: https://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/consumer-insights/consumer-journey/micro-moments-understand-new-consumer-behavior/AI Assisted Workflow Tool: https://www.taskade.com/ Connect with Erik Olson: Website: https://arraylaw.com/Show: https://arraylaw.com/managing-partners-podcast/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWsbJqhtLMS5wmWmXulpY2ALinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/iamerikjolson/Twitter: https://twitter.com/thisisarrayFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thisisarrayInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/array.digital/ Connect with Jocelyn Brumbaugh: Website: https://www.buildenpartners.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jocelynbrumbaugh/ Connect with Jared Correia: Website: RedCaveLegal.com & Gideon.LegalLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jaredcorreia & linkedin.com/company/gideon-legal-software/Twitter: twitter.com/RedCaveLegal & twitter.com/Gideon_LegalFacebook: facebook.com/GideonLegal Connect with Gyi Tsakalakis: Website: GyiTsakalakis.com & AttorneySync.comEmail: Gyi@AttorneySync.comShow: legaltalknetwork.com/podcasts/lunch-hour-legal-marketing/LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/gyitsakalakisTwitter: twitter.com/gyitsakalakisFacebook: facebook.com/gyitsakalakis Connect with Steve Fretzin:LinkedIn: Steve FretzinTwitter: @stevefretzinInstagram: @fretzinsteveFacebook: Fretzin, Inc.Website: Fretzin.comEmail: Steve@Fretzin.comBook: Legal Business Development Isn't Rocket Science and more!YouTube: Steve FretzinCall Steve directly at 847-602-6911 Show notes by Podcastologist Chelsea Taylor-Sturkie Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Erik Olson, Jocelyn Brumbaugh, Jared Correia, and Gyi Tsakalakis discuss:The first step lawyers and law firms need to do before marketing themselves. Positioning yourself as uniquely qualified to help your client. Perspective client avatars and referral partners. Pros and cons of specializing and finding your niche. Key Takeaways:Look at what you are already doing well now and capitalize on that first. Bring in personal differentiation points in your marketing strategy to stand out from the crowd. Positioning is what you want to be known for, it does not necessarily cover all that you do. AI can be a tool, but there still needs to be a human component both before and after using the technology. "AI is a remarkable tool as a supportive assistive tool. I think about it just like we use Grammarly or a bunch of other stuff to help us write and publish and do research, and it is absolutely remarkable in those contexts. So short answer, yes, use it - just learn about it and learn how you can actually use it both effectively and ethically." — Gyi Tsakalakis Get a free copy of Steve's book “Sales-Free Selling” here: www.fretzin.com/sales-free-selling Thank you to our Sponsors!Get Staffed Up: https://getstaffedup.com/bethatlawyer/ Overture: https://overture.law/Get Visible: https://www.getvisible.com/Lawmatics: http://lawmatics.com/bethatlawyer Episode References: ChatGPT for Legal Marketing Search: https://www.google.com/search?q=chatgpt+for+legal+marketing ChatGPT for Legal Marketing Article: https://www.attorneysync.com/blog/chatgpt-for-legal-marketing/ Law Firm AI Article: https://thisisarray.com/law-firm-ai/ Connect with Erik Olson: Website: https://arraylaw.com/ Show: https://arraylaw.com/managing-partners-podcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWsbJqhtLMS5wmWmXulpY2A LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/iamerikjolson/Twitter: https://twitter.com/thisisarray Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thisisarray Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/array.digital/ Connect with Jocelyn Brumbaugh: Website: https://www.buildenpartners.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jocelynbrumbaugh/ Connect with Jared Correia: Website: RedCaveLegal.com & Gideon.LegalLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jaredcorreia & linkedin.com/company/gideon-legal-software/Twitter: twitter.com/RedCaveLegal & twitter.com/Gideon_LegalFacebook: facebook.com/GideonLegal Connect with Gyi Tsakalakis: Website: GyiTsakalakis.com & AttorneySync.comEmail: Gyi@AttorneySync.comShow: legaltalknetwork.com/podcasts/lunch-hour-legal-marketing/LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/gyitsakalakisTwitter: twitter.com/gyitsakalakisFacebook: facebook.com/gyitsakalakis Connect with Steve Fretzin:LinkedIn: Steve FretzinTwitter: @stevefretzinInstagram: @fretzinsteveFacebook: Fretzin, Inc.Website: Fretzin.comEmail: Steve@Fretzin.comBook: Legal Business Development Isn't Rocket Science and more!YouTube: Steve FretzinCall Steve directly at 847-602-6911 Show notes by Podcastologist Chelsea Taylor-Sturkie Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Jocelyn Brumbaugh, Jared Correia, and Gyi Tsakalakis discuss:Appreciation marketing, email marketing, and newsletters. The incremental approach to social media and content marketing. The business of law and treating your firm like a business. Being involved in the marketing plan. Key Takeaways:Send a handwritten note. People get stuff all the time, but a handwritten note is personalized and feels more intentional. Segment your list. Do as many thank you cards as you can, but don't ignore everyone else. Utilize stats, don't just list your credentials, in your marketing, content, and bio.You need to understand your goals and what needs to be done in marketing to make those goals happen. "Business development is about process, it's about figuring out what works and takes the least amount of your time and doing it over and over again. And that's no fun. That's so boring. But it's always like losing weight and figuring out how to run a marathon and learning another language - it's doing something incrementally every day. In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Jocelyn Brumbaugh, Jared Correia, and Gyi Tsakalakis discuss:How law firms can show their personal side on social media. Focus on who you are serving. Marketing locally and internationally for the best return. Opportunities and challenges around AI. Key Takeaways:Lawyers do really cool things outside of the law - people want to see that side of you. Put some of you in your bio, not just your credentials. Optimize content on your site for users who consume it internationally. If you can position yourself as the expert, it is a much less competitive market. ChatGPT and other AI are changing the face of searching and content generation. Your content is best when you are in the content. It needs to be authentic and sound like you to really soar. It also tracks people from the time they come into our atmosphere, which will allow the firm to dial in exactly where the leads are coming from. Gyi's Tip: Create feedback loops. There are often a lot of improvement opportunities in law firms, starting from the point of first contact. The feedback loop is a great way to regularly ask clients, team members, other lawyers, etc for feedback about the entire legal process from start to finish. Conrad's Tip: All about velocity. How quickly are people moving through your funnel? This will give you a good metric for responsiveness and the ability to get people from one step to the next.Tyson's Tip: Leaky funnel! Look and track your abandoned calls within your phone software system to see where the leak might be in your funnel. If you don't know about it, you could be losing out on a lot of cases.Watch the podcast here. Join the Guild: www.maxlawguild.com
In March 2022, I attended the fabulous ABA Tech Show in Chicago, and I had a chance to hear from some amazing speakers, and even chat with a few for our show. I asked our guests the same four questions: Describe the topic you're talking about at the conference Give me one takeaway from your session Tell me one thing you've learned here at ABA Techshow And lastly, what's one of the biggest distractions facing lawyers today? I spoke with some familiar names, and a few new guests: Gyi Tsakalakis, Jeannine Lambert, Ivy Grey, Jon Tobin, Jacqueline Schafer, Josh Weaver, Ann-Marie Rabago, Maddy Martin, and Bob Ambrogi. The answers I got were pretty fantastic, and I want to share them with you here this week. ----- FiveStarCounsel.com Get our FREE client service whitepaper! If you like what you hear, be sure to subscribe for more Conrad and Gyi Tsakalakis. ----------- Conrad and Gyi take on the elephant in the courtroom. Clio's Legal Trend Report shows us potential clients are interested in both pricing and payment plans, but as lawyers, we're reluctant to go there. Why? Explore options on how you can better position yourself. Are you less expensive than the competition? More efficient? A better value? Dig into the marketing opportunities that make you special based, in part, on your pricing model. Hey, the other guy is doing it. If it's something you've never considered, it's probably time you did. And in the news (maybe related, just a bit!) we're seeing a spike in inflation, even if the Fed wants to call it transitory. Look around, everything seems to be going up … except legal fees? Plus, Facebook (and its global apps) go down. In legal tech, what's up with Smokeball legal matter management? Changes in Google marketing? Let's talk.
Gyi joins us today to share his tips on looking at the bigger picture, and seeing whether or not your firm is moving in the right direction.
