Todays extremely fun and insightful episode of Synthetic Dreams features electronic musicians, Jess and Jeff DeCuir who make glorious synth-pop music under the name, Hyperbubble The couple, who met back in 1996, spoke to me about their music, early gigs in both America and in the UK, musical heroes and the documentary film, ‘Cowgirls and Synthesizers' which is a somewhat bonkers, but absolutely brilliant.Directed by Joe Wallace, with narration by Ricard Autobahn from Helen Love, ‘Cowgirls and Synthesizers' follows the duo on their way Nashville to record a country and western album using just synthesizers and drum machines. It's a fascinating, inspirational, hugely entertaining film. An extremely well-made documentary that is worth checking out. The film has featured in many film festivals across the world and the should hopefully be able to stream very soon.Hyperbubble 'The Singles' album is out soon, check out their previous releases here:https://www.hyperbubble.net/https://hyperbubble.bandcamp.com/merchCowgirls and Synthesizers - Offical Trailer Synthetic Dreams is presented and produced by Scott ZverblisFollow Synthetic Dreams on InstagramFollow Synthetic Dreams on ThreadsFollow Synthetic Dreams on Twitter / XSynthetic Dreams title music by Chris IbbottIf you can, please support the Synthetic Dreams Podcast by buying a coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/syntheticdreams

A few weeks ago, Malibu Lou from Rum Bar Records sent me his latest free digital compilation. Accompanying the fabulous 35 tracks was this declaration: “Swag·ger-ing: Rum Bar Records extended family and friends of artists and musicians performing, writing or otherwise making art inspired by Jagger, Dolls, Heartbreakers (Thunders & Petty), Stardust, Rebel Rousers, Barroom, Struttin’ Glimmer & Glam anthems, with hints of Punk, power-pop, dashes of alt-country, out-of-the-garage riveting, soul shakin’ rock n’ roll. Tends to inhabit and play said music loudly in hole in the wall dive bars. Swaggering rock n’ roll is general enjoyed best with your fist raised air guitar, a warm beer and cold shot in a corner at a neighborhood watering hole.” Sounds like a declaration of a typical episode of The Ledge, right? That’s why Rum Bar’s Swagger comp dominates this week’s episode, with four sets of tunes representing the release. But there’s plenty of “swagger” from other sources – one set is devoted to material from the all-girl power pop cop Heroes of the Night Vol. 2. Other compilations devoted to The Mosquitos and Helen Love are highlighted. And there’s also great power pop and garage rock from current artists such as The Goods, The Far Outs, […]

You might have noticed that I'm mixing the podcast up a bit at the moment – speaking to journalists and photographers, label owners and industry people – as well as the obvious musicians that make up the majority of the episodes. Well, in doing that, I had to speak to the head honcho at one of my very favourite indie labels, Jack Clothier, the man at the control deck of the great Alcopop! Records. If you're a fan of Cheerbleederz, Best Ex, Art Brut, Dream Nails, Happy Accidents, Helen Love, The Spook School, Loose Articles, Peaness, Pulled Apart By Horses – I could go on, and on, and on, basically any music made with fizz in its heart – then you'll know the label, already. But I think Jack does a great job on this episode regardless, of explaining why his label is such a special, and beloved, fixture on the scene.
