Ce 2 juin, Marjorie Hache convoque dans RTL2 Pop-Rock Station T. Rex, Björk, Depeche Mode, Fatboy Slim, The B-52's, The Beatles, Interpol, Blur, Thin Lizzy, Eels, David Bowie, Joan Baez, The Undertones, James et Jimi Hendrix. For May's episode we discuss our favourite songs of 2009, including epic drone soundscapes, haunted TV themes, Emo Chiptune, Indiepop songs about outdated heartthrobs, and deconstructed Arab Strap. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - :(, Animal Collective, Belbury Poly, Betty & The Werewolves, Bon Iver, Brand New, Bill Callaghan, Crippled Black Phoenix, Editors, Future Of The Left, PJ Harvey & John Parish, The Horrors, Isis, Jesu, Dan Michaelson, Metric, Malcolm Middleton, Aidan Moffat & The Best Ofs, Mono, The National, Om, Paramore, Pelican, Porcupine Tree, Regina Spektor, Sunn O))), The Temper Trap, Cortney Tidwell, and The XX.Find all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5g3iJkWjs932dm8nn7bCEP?si=ae57751dec554930Find our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, and Canadian national team chat and interviews. Canada is flying high at the 2025 Gold Cup, at least on the pitch with wins over Honduras and Curacao. Off it, head coach Jesse Marsch has been ruffling CONCACAF feathers and was under investigation over incidents in Vancouver last week. We delve into the two victories, the standout performers, and the drama off the pitch. The FIFA Club World Cup is coming to the end of its group stage, and while the much maligned tournament has drawn a lot of criticism, the footballing fare on offer has been first class and very entertaining. We look at the tournament so far and see what lessons could and should be learned ahead of hosting next year's actual World Cup here in North America. The Whitecaps have had much needed and well-deserved time off after a crazy first half of their season. They're going to be back on the pitch on Wednesday to take on San Diego in what is now a battle of the top two teams in the MLS West. Who saw that coming when we saw the schedule?! We look ahead to that match up and discuss the first half of the 'Caps season with head coach Jesper Sorensen, captain Ranko Veselinovic, and forward Emmanuel Sabbi. Plus we chat with rookie standout Tate Johnson about his stellar first six months as a Whitecap, his first international experience with a US national team, riding camels in Cairo, and he helps launch our new food section as we talk milkshakes! All of this plus music-wise, a solo Pete Shelley continues his residency as our Album of the Month, we've a Britpop song from Whiteout, and a summer kick-off classic from Arab Strap features in Wavelength. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 01.26: Intro - Groundhopping Germans 14.10: Club World Cup continues to entertain despite its flaws 36.33: What countries would you like in Vancouver & Seattle for 2026 World Cup? 44.10: What lessons can 2026 organizers learn from the Club World Cup? 64.35: Canada v Honduras - did they peak too soon? 71.48: Jesse Marsch vs CONCACAF - what's going on? 84.35: Curacao unlucky to get just a point against Canada 97.35: International 'Caps and Ali Ahmed's injury 108.15: Tate Johnson interview 117.20: Milkshake Man - Tate Johnson 120.07: Whitecaps face San Diego in top of the MLS West clash 129.05: Emmanuel Sabbi talks the Whitecaps season so far 137.30: Wavelength - Arab Strap - The First Big Weekend

2024 is in it's final days and as is traditional it's time for us to talk aout all of the fantastic music released this year. This year Tracey & Colin have been on board with Charli XCX's Brat summer, while Ian has pretty much avoided it entirely while he's been rocking out to masked Hardcore bands with salsa rhythms. Welcome back to Trve. Cvlt. Pop! a music podcast. On this week's show Steve and Gaz begin to round up what has been a frankly insane month of May in music, by reviewing a mere 10 of the excellent releases of this month... there's 10 more next week and we still aren't getting it all in! We look at new albums by Dua Lipa, Arab Strap, Knocked Loose, Beth Gibbons, Willow, Big Special, Les Savy Fav, Childish Gambino, Hot Water Music and Sebastian Bach. Plus we react to the news that Manchester recently opened Co-Op Arena is DEFINITELY cursed as Nikki Minaj gets arrested before she can perform there, the new that, despite Steve only saying a day prior that they would never reform, The Blood Brothers actually had already reformed a week prior and have sold out their entire comeback tour and we say HELLO (HA!!!) to a long lost dance rock banger from electro-synth legends The Beloved. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

This week was an experimental show: can you do a live radio show if you haven't slept in two days? If radio DJs marathoning shows for charity can, surely I, Rue can too! Cue a fun, loose, ever-so-slightly shambolic show where pulled out new CDs, did some on-air Bandcamp diving and had LIVE coverage of the Grammys from Hayden! bdrmm - "It's Just a Bit of Blood," a 2023 single on Rock Action Records When post-rock icons Mogwai sign you to their label, Rock Action, you know you gotta be doing something right. Such is the case for Hull-based quartet bdrmm, whose second full-length, titled I Don't Know, was just released by the label back in June. “After touring with Mogwai and forming such a close relationship with them, we feel blessed to have been invited to work with them and their team," the band said via a press release. "To be on the same label as Arab Strap too? I mean, say no more.” On today's Song of the Day, the band capture a favorite live track. Lead vocalist Ryan Smith shares, “The more we played it, the more it dawned on us it was becoming something special, and an integral part of our set. Lyrically, it stems from my recent mental health awareness. I'd become depressed and very socially anxious, I really felt like I had changed and didn't know who I was. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by three of my brothers within this band – one literally by blood – and have always been able to be myself with them. It's about realising what you have and remembering that when you can't see it.” Read the full story at KEXP.orgSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Over a ten year run, starting in the mid-90s, Arab Strap released a half-dozen albums that brought them critical and public acclaim. They were the sort of artist that was your favourite band's favourite band. Then one day, they called it quits: moving on to other bands and other sounds. Last year announced a return, their first album together in 16 years, called As Days Get Dark. In the Drawing Room, Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton reminisce about the early days and the way the world has changed.

(107:17) There are also brief reviews of Bad Pond Festival as well as Arab Strap's much anticipated debut show in London since the release of their critically lauded come-back album As Days Get Dark.
