Follow along as we hike from Hunting Lodge to Cypher's mine by way of the Middle Fork Trail. Our crew of three - Cormac, Dave, and I - banter as we pause along the stream, discussing Philmont past, present, and future. Arriving at Cypher's main cabin, we're welcomed by the bustling energy of crews, porch talks, and the staff prepping for dinner. We jump at the chance to go on a tour of the Contention mine and catch a moment at the forge. The episode closes as I slip away to sit next to the stream, and journal. Support the show

What! Have you no monks to teach, to dispute, to govern, to intrigue and to burn people who do not agree with them? -Voltaire On today's episode of the Only in OK Show, we discuss The Monastery at Forest Lake in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Monastery at Forest Lake is a historic castle-like estate built 100 years ago as a Hunting Lodge on 40 acres on Forest Lake in NE Oklahoma City. The Lodge has been a residence for Oil Baron & Oklahoma Governor Robert S. Kerr, home to a medical pioneer and an actual monastery. It is now a 5 Star Award winning B&B and one of the most picturesque wedding venues around. Oklahoma City, officially the City of Oklahoma City, and often shortened to OKC, is the Oklahoma State capital. Tourism in OKC has grown dramatically over the past few years due in large part to the western charm of the city. No matter your interests, there is bound to be something for you anytime you are in the area and you can explore the area on OKC's newest transportation offering, Oklahoma City Streetcar. The show was later created for television with a new name "Jet Jackson, Flying Commando" There is a playlist of Captain Midnight adventures on this podcast... so if you like this one, there are more on that list and more coming. The Habsburgs were passionately fond of hunting and shooting. On the left-hand side of the room you can see portraits of Maria Theresa’s parents, Charles VI and his wife Elisabeth Christine in hunting costume; between them is Franz Stephan, later husband of Maria Theresa, as a boy. Franz Joseph was also famous for his passion for shooting; even as a child he shot sparrows and pigeons in the park at Schönbrunn.
