Send us a textThis week we start our adventure at The Muddy Duck campground, just outside Longreach, where the Thompson River quietly flows and the night sky feels within arm's reach. We reminisce about a family road trip across the United States in a dusty old Winnebago and draw parallels with our current adventure DownUnder. The Muddy Duck's growing popularity speaks volumes, and we chat about their exciting expansion plans, giving you more reasons to consider this outback destination for your next camping trip. All aboard the historic 'Silver Bullet' train for an unforgettable sunset ride that combines the charm of the Outback with passionate Aussie characters. Jasper, our little train enthusiast, keeps the journey lively with his infectious excitement. The knowledgeable staff guides us through the endless outback landscape where kangaroos and emus make their cameo appearances. As the sun dips below the horizon, a surprise karaoke session breaks out, leaving us with a train whistle as a souvenir and memories that will remain long after the journey ends. Our road trip takes a lively turn at the Well Shot Pub in Ilfracombe, where history and entertainment collide in the best possible way. Experience the thrill of a pub game that sees young Jasper aiming for the cash-laden ceiling, adding a unique element of fun to our Outback adventure. This iconic pub, rich in heritage, sets the stage for a heartwarming fundraising event in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. As we prepare for new adventures, like reconnecting with friends on Keppel Island or visiting the idyllic hot springs, we invite you to join us in embracing the open road where the dreams are big, and the trails are endless.Subscribe to Jasperoo - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCceGx3esRSQBYZfWvf4KVtw Our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/thefeelgoodfamily has a new destination video every Tuesday night at 7.30pm (AEST). Send us a textWhat if achieving literary success doesn't erase self-doubt? Best-selling author Amanda Prowse joins us to share her remarkable journey from the streets of East London to becoming the writer of 35 books. Despite her impressive accomplishments, Amanda opens up about her ongoing struggle with imposter syndrome, revealing how her working-class background and challenging education initially made her question her potential. Her story is a powerful reminder that perseverance and passion can break down even the most stubborn barriers. Amanda and I explore the unexpected kindness within the publishing industry and the camaraderie that exists among authors. From the emotional depth of her new novel "Swimming to Lundy" to the humorous moments of discussing preferences for gravy on chips, Amanda's experiences offer a rich tapestry of insights into the writing process and personal growth. Whether you're an aspiring writer or a fan of her work, this conversation promises to inspire and uplift, proving that success is as much about the journey as it is about the destination.Swimming to LundyTawrie Gunn feels stuck. She's spent her whole life in the same seaside town with her beloved Nana and grief-stricken mum, all of them still reeling in different ways from the tragic loss of Tawrie's dad at sea. Desperate for a change, she challenges herself to take up wild swimming—every morning, no excuses, from March till September.Daring to take the plunge with the ‘Peacock Swimmers', Tawrie feels alive in a way she's never known. Suddenly it seems she might be able to step outside her comfort zone after all and let life surprise her—perhaps even dream of a future beyond the shores of Ilfracombe? Especially when, one day, she spots a man in a pink linen shirt who seems as eager for a new start as she does. But it turns out taking risks on land is a little different from wading into the sea. Can Tawrie face her fears head-on and find her way to happiness? She knows it's never too late to pursue your hopes and dreams, but it might be easier said than done…Follow Amanda ProwseSupport the show"Enjoying 'The Conversation'? Welcome to Eyes & Teeth The Worlds Greatest Variety Show, Season 15 edition 6 with the one and only Harry Hill.Harry is about to embark on a new UK Tour with his new musical Tony Blair the Rock Opera. So today we catch up and talk about his work as a stand up comedian, musical producer, admirer of ventriloquists and their dummies, Sean Lock and much more. Harry's success on television brought him awards and millions of fans but it was his decision to end the TV show that made him a household name as the schedule was gruelling and besides he is now able to tour his Stand Up show, write more books, collaborate with Steve Brown on exciting projects as well as be at home with his family instead of watching 12 hours of TV dramas and soaps for little comedy nuggets. Until I read his biography FIGHT I didn't know how much hands on harry was in putting together these clips but that is the main reason he wanted more freedom after a good 10 years on ITV. My wife Nina & I loved the show so much we went along to one of the recordings to see the magic happen and he had us in hysterics as usual. One thing Harry does have as well as his successful career is that he has his charm laid back nature and I was delighted he agreed to our chat on Eyes & Teeth and its just in time to mention that the Tony Blair Rock Opera is now on sale at the Leicester Square Theatre and is on from April 15th to my 21st before going on a National Tour.Oh while I'm here my theatre Tour Ventriloquest – A Life in the Day of Arthur Lager continues April to August and can be seen in Hunstanton, Southampton, Hastings, Bungay Norfolk, Saddleworth, Verwood Dorset, Eastbourne, Chelmsford, Stafford, Axminster, Shanklin IOW, Ivybridge, Bromyard midlands, Haverhill Suffolk, Paighton and Ilfracombe in DEVON.Got to www.thestevehewlettshow.com for dates. Now its time for a special edition of Eyes & Teeth with Harry Hill

In May of 2017, Marcus Hutchins saved the internet. A vicious ransomware attack known as WannaCry had infected computer systems across dozens of countries. It was the worst cyberattack in history at the time, and it seemed unstoppable. But Hutchins, a 23-year-old-hacker in Ilfracombe, England, discovered a secret kill switch that stopped the malware from propagating. Hutchins became a celebrity overnight, with the hacker community and the media hailing him as a hero. But all of the newfound attention was not good for him. Three months after defeating the malware, Marcus was arrested by the FBI—not for his involvement in WannaCry, but for a string of past illegal activities that he had kept secret. This week on Gadget Lab, WIRED senior writer Andy Greenberg joins us to talk about Hutchins' remarkable story. It's such a privilege and honour to present this podcast today with the Year 5 students (aged 10), and teachers at Ilfracombe's Church of England Junior School. As a parent of 2 boys under the age of 10, I find the whole conversation about kids online to be incredibly negative and over sensationalised in the media. In an effort to have a more positive discussion, I approached my son's school and asked them could I do a podcast about the subject with the Year 5 teachers and students. The school not only embraced the idea but added a whole layer of additional creativity and flair to the discussion that I could never have imagined, likened to "opening Pandora's Box" by Catherine Cox, the Head Teacher. In this podcast you will hear from Maggie Foster, an Assistant Head Teacher and Head of Music at the school, whose passion and love of her subject is transforming the lives of the children in the school. We hear from Maggie and the pupils about how the Church of England School Values of Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity, are shaping the children's lives, both on and offline.Even more so, how music is at the heart of everything the school does, and how the Principles of Taiko drumming, which is a Japanese art of drumming, has recently been adopted by the school. The children share how these Principles can be extended out across all manner of experiences both on and offline. We also hear about the benefits of drumming and what it's like to experience a Taiko drumming session. In addition we share fly-on-the-wall discussions in the class rooms between the children and the teachers as they talk about podcasting, digital media, and how to present themselves positively online. There is so much richness to this podcast and whilst I initially went into the school as a concerned, worried parent, I left feeling humbled, uplifted and inspired by what I heard and experienced whilst being at the school. I would like to extend a massive thank you to the Year 5 teachers who are; James Clatworthy, Kimberley Campbell, Lauren Caller, Phoebe Reed, Will Speed, Rachael Moore and Jo Parsons and a heartfelt thank you to Maggie Foster and Catherine Cox whose total commitment to the subject and the discussion enabled this to happen. To my incredible Sound Engineer and Producer, Will Flisk, who attended and recorded 10 hours of content in the classrooms and helped bring the podcast to life in the studio with me.But most importantly I would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful children in Year 5. You are so very special and you know so much, you guys are truly inspirational and I want to thank you for being so open and free with your conversation, knowledge and kindness. Together with your teachers, we have turned the conversation about kids online on its head, and you will uplift so many people with your positive messages, insight and voices.Thank you so very much.Fiona xxxAdditional Note;'Drop in the Ocean' is featured in this podcast. Who started the first DJ Bar in the UK? Will Flisk did. Will, together with his business partners, set up Bar Vinyl which was voted one of the UK's Top 10 Best Bars in the 90's. Located in Camden, Bar Vinyl had quite the reputation and Will openly admits to not remembering most of his time there. That said with guests like Boy George and Fat Boy Slim together with the MTV crews casually popping in to record music videos and interviews from his bar, he has quite a few funny stories to tell. Come with me as we chat about the launch of Bar Vinyl; how he hosted a tent for 2000 people in Glastonbury whilst sleeping next to Rob Da Bank; his time in Greece where he was frequently called Malakas as a term of endearment; his up and coming new Vinyl releases and how world famous artist Damien Hirst drew him to Ilfracombe in North Devon which has now resulted in him opening his very own studio called Gates Of the West Studio to help new and emerging local talent.Oh and we also cover a bit about me and how my Box of Frogs podcast got its name which is as mad as it sounds! To hear more of Will’s music find him on Soundcloud: @WillFliskWill’s North Devon Studio is at www.gatesofthewest.co.ukA bit about me …. On today's show, Róisín hears about Anna Parnell, pioneering Irish feminist, founder of the Ladies Land League and younger sister of Irish Nationalist Charles Stewart Parnell. Anna has long since been written out of Irish history, but Lucy Keaveney has been working hard to reverse that. She talks to Róisín about Anna and about her commemoration at Ilfracombe in England this weekend. Lucy is joined by journalist Martina Devlin who has written about Anna in her new book Truth and Dare, a collection of short stories about some of Ireland's trailblazing women. Later in the show, historian professor Christine Kinealy speaks about the abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who toured Ireland in 1845, and the women who helped him while he was here. Also today: Hannah Gadsby at the Emmy's and Christine Blasey Ford. Produced by Róisín Ingle and Jennifer Ryan

With Mark Lawson. Some of the most famous costumes in Hollywood history, including John Travolta's suit from Saturday Night Fever and Judy Garland's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, are on show in a major new exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Curator Deborah Nadoolman Landis and Deborah Scott, costume designer for Titanic and Avatar, discuss the collection. Three new rock documentaries are released this week, focusing on blues legend BB King, the rock group Status Quo, and the former frontman of Queen, Freddie Mercury. Music critics Rosie Swash and David Hepworth compare and contrast the films' styles and content. A vast bronze statue of a pregnant woman by the artist Damien Hirst now stands near the seafront in Ilfracombe, Devon. The 20-metre statue called Verity has been given to the seaside town by Hirst on a 20-year loan. Travis Elborough, writer of Wish You Were Here: England on Sea, went to take a look, and gives his verdict on the work, and its role in the town's life. During the 2008 election for the American Presidency, the media spotlight fell on Barack Obama's youngest half-brother, George Hussein Obama. Much was made of the difference in their lives, one running for the highest Office in the USA and the other living in poverty in Kenya. A new play based on George's life has just opened in Leicester. George Hussein Obama and the writer Kevin Fegan discuss the drama. Producer Jerome Weatherald.

With Kirsty Lang. Singers Amy Winehouse and Katy Perry are the focus of two new documentaries. Katy Perry: Part of Me follows the American performer on tour, as her marriage to Russell Brand was ending. Amy Winehouse - the Day She Came to Dingle includes footage of the late singer performing in a small Irish church in 2006. Mark Frith reviews. Singer Sam Lee gave up being a visual artist, a teacher of wilderness survival skills and a burlesque dancer, to learn folk songs. He talks about collecting material from gypsy and traveller communities for his CD, Ground of its Own, and the sounds - including birdsong and drones - that he has added to his interpretations. As Damien Hirst announces plans to erect a 20-metre statue of a pregnant woman in Ilfracombe, and London City Airport unveils what is claimed to be the UK's tallest bronze sculpture, art critic Rachel Campbell-Johnston considers the continuing appeal of large-scale art. Salman Rushdie has described the American writer Joseph Mitchell as a 'buried treasure'. Working on the New Yorker from 1938 until his death in 1996, he specialized in portraits of eccentrics, workers, bohemians and their haunts. As a new edition of Mitchell's writings is published, writer William Fiennes and Janet Groth, receptionist at the New Yorker and a long-standing friend, reflect on why his work deserves a wider audience. Producer Philippa Ritchie.
