Awrite hens and laddies, and welcome to a very special episode of Front End Chatter presented, ingested and recorded LIVE at the Highland Fling tour(s) in bonnie, sunny (no, really) Scotland! With not a lot to discuss in the world of motorcycling at the moment - other than the uncertain future of one of Europe's biggest bike manufacturers, plus a raft of new flagship models revealed by another of Europe's biggest bike manufacturers - our fabulous FECers have boldly stepped into our creative breach. Episode #212 is a Live FECsack extravaganza, with a wealth of wicked wonderings wittered by Highland Fling tourists spaken in the vague direction of Simon McHargreaves and Martin McFitz-Gibbons, including but not limited to… Does the rise of Chinese bikes mean certain doom for European brands? What effect will US tariffs have on motorcycling? Can KTM repair its reputation - and who would we pick to run it going forwards? What substance, material or concept should power motorcyclings's future? If you could only ride one road for the rest of your life, which would it be? And what would you ride it on? What's all the fuss about two-strokes? What would be the least-enjoyable bike to ride the Highland Fling on? Risk - what is it, why do we take it, and how much do we try to avoid it?  What would be the best bike for Mufga and Si to ride two-up to Gdańsk? Thanks to everyone for the fabulous questions! Speaking of thanks, our recognition, acknowledgement and gratitudes are, as always, directed to Bennetts, Britain's best bike insurers, and BikeSocial.co.uk, home to all the very best motorcycling news and reviews. Plus our enormous, heartfelt appreciation to Paul at MCi Tours - mcitours.com - for all his graft in taking charge of the grown-up logistics that enabled the FEC Highland Fling tours to happen. Thank you, Papa Smurf, sorry you couldn't make it, and see you in September! Right, that's it, we're outta here, dinner's calling. Regular service resumes soon(ish) so please keep your emails coming in to anything@frontendchatter.com Guid cheerio the nou!

Send us a Text Message.Welcome to the latest epsode of our pod. On this episode we chat to pone very determined lady.I first met Nic when we were over at the European Multisport Champs in Portugal, she had travelled over with former guest Robert Myler, who suggested Nic should come on and share her story. Nic says " Im a full-time working mum with 2 young children. Sport is my hobby and I love it. I have run from a small age, my first run I remember was a 1.5 mile road race when I was about 12 and then the school cross country races on the sand dunes in Irvine with the wind battering me. That didn't put me off and I did my first half marathon at 17 and the London Marathon at 21.  My main achievements to date are completing the triple crown in 2022 – the Highland Fling, West Highland Way ultra and Devil O' the Highlands races, completing Celtman solo extreme triathlon and representing GBR in the European Duathlon Championships. I run because I enjoy it. It's an escape from the real world and I get thinking space. I love the outdoors and this gives me a chance to see some amazing scenery. I always run on holiday (at the request of the family) as I find all the great places we can go adventuring to later. I'm also quite competitive and enjoy the races…the muddier the better! I'm a role model to my children and others showing that us girls / mums can do these things and inspire the next generation. My best and worst run moments: My children being at the end of my ultra races and running with me to cross the finish line, they are my inspiration and love seeing their faces as I near the end. Worst was when I had an undetected stress fracture in my foot which eventually broke, 3 operations over 3 years until it healed and was told at one point I'd never run again. In my spare time I coach, I was a tennis coach for 20 years until injury struck but I have now retrained and qualified as a personal trainer, running and triathlon coach with Glasgow Triathlon Club. I have been leading trail runs for many years."You can follow Nic on Instagram @epicrunningtrails_nicand her website is https://epictrailsrunning.co.ukYou Can Follow us  onInstagram @amp_1967X : agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook : AMPGBfind all our episodes on our websiteor our YouTube Channel AMP GBWebsite is : https://agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.com/email: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.comIf you are an agegroup athlete and would like to come on the pod, get in touch.

Hello Season 6, we've been expecting you. And we are off to a flyer, quite literally, with this week's guest Robbie Dunlop. Robbie has enjoyed a remarkable 2022 so far and we were super keen to get the lowdown from the man himself. We start with a look at happenings over in California as our gal Debbie Martin-Consani mastered the conditions at the Badwater 135 AND we've a competition for all you to enter!! And it is well worth winning, we've a place at the Run with Pyllon event on 13 August up for grabs! Listen to find out how you can join Debbie and James Stewart in Aviemore! With two outstanding outings under the belt this year bringing 2nd place finishes at the Highland Fling and West Highland Way Race our guest Robbie is enjoying the time of his life out on the trails. His year-on-year improvement since a debut marathon in 2016 has been astonishing. Robbie gives us the story of his running journey. From a footballing background to finding running. Learning his craft from some of the best, understanding the importance of structured training and consistency along the way. We then home in on those 2 recent great outings on the West Highland Way. In Robbie's own words they both ‘couldn't have gone much better'. We get under the skin of all that though, a 16 hour and some loose change West Highland Way doesn't just happen after all right? We have our first shwank discussion of the season (quell surprise!) as well as find out Robbie's nutrition/hydration fav choices. Robbie unveils how his own motivation and inspiration was super-powered by his daughter Maisie. A real personal reason for stoking the fire. Robbie offers us an honest and refreshing take on his own progression into the world of ultra-marathons, a super talented athlete with a super humble outlook. We know fine well there is plenty more to come from Robbie, his dedication to learning and improving is meticulous, he's only getting started! So, grab your ear buds, give Alexa a shout or whatever you do and settle down for our amazing season opener with Robbie Dunlop. Find out more about Run with Pyllon event here RUN WITH PYLLON

The Highland Fling is a 53 mile trail race which traditionally takes place every year in April. This years race is the first since 2019 as a result of the global pandemic. Ding Ding The Highland Fling is back! The route follows the West Highland Way, Scotland's oldest official long distance footpath, through the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The Fling is one of the hottest race tickets around in Scotland and sells out (normally goes to a ballot) very soon after race entry is made available. For those who are already thinking ahead...The Highland Fling has been classed as a three point qualifier for entry into the 2023-2025 UTMB® races. #justsaying In this episode we catch up with race director John Duncan aka Johnny Fling to speak about preparations for The Fling, find out what's involved in setting up that world famous finish line, and cover some of the race advice and rules in the 2022 Runner Handbook (you've all read that...right?) We hear about John's own running memories where he picks out and shares some very special moments. What's behind the 'Ding Ding' race tradition? Where did it start? All is revealed in this episode! The chat is focussed mainly on the race itself and the people involved, volunteers, marshals, runners and supporters. It's all of these people that make trails running such a wonderful sport to be a part of. We also catch-up with co-host Steven Watt, still stateside and fresh from his adventure in Boston Marathon. Yep, Young Hearts Run Free are transatlantic...again! We begin to unpick Stevie Boys USA trip (more on that later!) with a wee chat about the hot topics, weather, food and of course...shwanking!

Rob Sinclair joins the boys to talk about his return to winning ways at the Ultra Trail Costa Blanca 75K race and reflect on his storied running career so far. This episode is packed full of insights from one of the best mountain and ultra trail runners in the UK as he moves into a new phase of his career. Rob talks about the challenges of balancing the training of an elite performer with long working weeks of up to 80 hours, compared to the relative freedom he enjoyed in the build-up to UTCB from becoming self-employed. Inevitably, Chris fanboys about Rob's tear on the Triple Crown of Scottish ultra running in 2017 - winning and setting still-standing course records on the Highland Fling, the West Highland Way Race, and the Devil o' the Highlands. Fortunately, this makes for a good discussion about how Rob's approach to training and racing has evolved over the years, and what he's looking to do in 2022. To get in touch, email: thepod@run4it.com.

Welcome to Episode 67 of the Young Hearts, Run Free podcast! Joining John & Steven this week is Gillian McGale. Gillian recently completed the Glasgow to Edinburgh (G2E) Ultra Marathon, a monumental journey that crowned a rise through the running distances that started way back in 2012. Now, we first invited Gillian on to speak mostly about her G2E experience. Turns out though she had much much more to talk to us about other than that! She has quite some story to tell us..... From humble running beginnings running laps of George Square in Glasgow, to finding a running dreamland in Vietnam via a couple of stops at the Highland Fling running has become an absolute staple part of her life. That does not tell the full story though. The episode also discovers some of the reasons that Gillian possesses mental resilience that most of us can only dream of. We touch on a harrowing part of Gillian's life where she lost her 1st husband to suicide, we find out about raising money for and awareness of mental health and how perseverance mixed with a spade load of determination has allowed Gillian to reach the heady heights of competing in some of Scotland's most high profile ultra-marathons. Gillian is one in a million and there are laughs galore as she regales some of her experiences and thoughts on running. An athlete with an attention to detail as strong as Gillian's we've yet to meet. We even have a new shoe reveal for any fellow 'shwankers' out there! So prepare to be inspired because this episode is a belter.

Two weeks in a row for a Talbot title, so you can guess which one of the Johns is on with Krys this week! First up, for the second week running, it's good news from the Scottish national team as they book a place in the B-Section of the UEFA Nations League, and give themselves a second chance at qualification for Euro 2020 should they need it. With the draw coming up on Sunday, we're all expecting the usual horror draw of France, Germany, Scotland, Brazil, Real Madrid and Georgia. On the domestic front, John had something of a mixed day on Saturday. Aberdeen were humped by Motherwell, but Talbot progressed to the fourth round and after a journey to Fraserburgh, the Arctic Circle and the Moon, a nice little home time to some local rivals was long overdue. Elsewhere the league, Rangers are excited at the prospect of being able to go top of the league next week as all they have to do is score their now obligatory late goals against a Hearts team who haven't scored since Noah was in their youth setup. St Mirren got their first win against them, and the wondergoal in that game leads us on nicely to talking about the Scottish Cafu joke that's doing the rounds. Coming up this week is match day five in the Europa League. Red Bull gives you wings but does it also give you a stitch up? Has a Rangers team ever beaten a Spanish side? We don't know the answers but we heard it once so that's good enough for us. Oh, and of course it's League Cup final weekend so with Celtic and Aberdeen playing for the first silverware of the season we discuss out hopes and dreams. Can it be a magnificent seven in a row for Celtic, or can Aberdeen win on penalties against Celtic like the Scottish Cup final of 1990? Which takes us full circle to reminiscing about Scotland in major tournaments. It's almost like we plan these things, but we can assure you we make this up as we go along. Thanks for listening, feel free to tweet us or follow us on Instagram - @sffpodcast, or you can find Scottish Football Forums on Facebook.

Book Clips  Highland Fling by Anna Larner  Synopsis Eve Eddison describes her ideal woman to her best friend, Roxanne, over pints in their local pub a few days before she travels to the Scottish Highlands. There she falls head over heels for an enigmatic local, Moira Burns, and the usually reticent Eve wants more than a holiday romance. Forestry officer Moira Burns has no intention of letting go—either of past pain or for present pleasure. If that means she misses out on her chance at happiness, so be it. Convinced Eve is headed for heartbreak, Roxanne advises her to let Moira go…but has Eve found her ideal woman at last?  From the breathtaking Highlands of Scotland to the buzz of a Leicester gay bar, family and friendship are tested to breaking point, as letting go proves painfully hard.    You can find this novel on Amazon.com | on Amazon.co.uk | on Amazon.ca    Visit www.TheLesbianTalkShow.com/Reading for more information on sending us your reading for Book Clips

Oh, and both really like it when the young folks talk to the old(er) about their perceptions of queer culture and community and they think it’s such a good idea to share experiences and ideas.  22 April: Author Anna Larner joined us to discuss her debut novel with Bold Strokes Books, Highland Fling. She also did a giveaway, because we are big into giveaways.  Women and Words link HERE Anna Larner’s website ALSO, call for submissions, hashtagqueer.com. Keep them in mind for future reference, too.  23 April: Author and editor Sacchi Green joined us to chat about her latest edited anthology through Cleis Press, Witches, Princesses, and Women and Arms: Erotic Lesbian Fairy Tales. And she did a giveaway!  Women and Words link HERE  Sacchi Green’s website  24 April: Author and Women and Wordster Yvonne Heidt shared a bit of her creative process, and we think it’s super cool when authors do that.  Women and Words link HERE  Yvonne Heidt’s website  25 April: Author, Women and Wordster and national lesbian treasure Lee Lynch did something really cool and posted an interview with a young woman in high school who is working on a project about being a gay activist in the 1960s. Give this one a read, friends, because the more community we build across generations, the better for all.  Women and Words link HERE  Lee Lynch’s website  27 April: Author and Women and Wordster Renée Bess joined us to discuss language – a “pulsing, living, changing entity that adjusts itself to fit new environments.”  Women and Words link HERE  Renée Bess’ website  28 April: Author and Women and Wordster Andi Marquette fangirled over a discontinued Marvel comic, Fearless Defenders. But she sure dug the 13 issues of a team of women superheroes with lots of WOC rep and some lesbian rep.  (special thanks to horror/bizarre author Gina Ranalli for telling me to read it),  Women and Words link HERE  Andi Marquette’s website  And fangirl with Andi on Tumblr  Also, Jove would like readers out there to know that if they’re interested in writing a blog from a reader’s perspective to please hit her up. We love it when readers share their thoughts on books they’re reading.  And author and publisher Amanda Radley (who recently launched Heartsome Publishing) has a lesbian and bi women fiction questionnaire she’d like you to participate in, to get a sense of the lesbian and bi women’s fiction market. Results will be collated and made available to publishers and indie authors with a view to help improve the lesbian and bi fiction market for all.
