August 13, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 9 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the overall health of the Pittsburgh Steelers now that their 2025 training camp practices at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA are over with. We discuss Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers getting dinged during Tuesdays practice and more. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward finally addressed the media to talk about his contract situation a few days ago so Alex and I completely parse all that he had to say on that topic. We go over what it sounds like Cameron Heyward is waiting in terms of his contract being adjusted, what he might and might not get as an end result and the several types of pushbacks he has received concerning the topic. Would Cameron Heyward seriously consider missing games in 2025 due to his contract situation? We discuss that question and also go over several other questions related to his contract wants and how that has been handled by his side this offseason. Keeping with the Heyward theme, Alex and I discuss Steelers TE Connor Heyward in this show. We talk about how safe his spot on the 53-man roster seems to be right now and if the Steelers should look outside the organization for a possibly upgrade to be their fourth tight end. Speaking of the tight end position, Alex and I discuss an old breakdown that former New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick had when it comes to what he looked for in his tight ends and the roles for each on the depth chart. That makes for a fun conversation when applying to the Steelers current group of tight ends. We also go over Belichick's old thoughts on offense and other offensive position groups. With the all-22 tape from the Steelers first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars now fully digested by both of us, Alex and I recap the good, bad, ugly, and other notable things that we observed. We address and review the individual play of several Steelers players from Saturday night as part of our lengthy postgame breakdown of the tape. The Pivot podcast recently released training camp interviews with Steelers HC Mike Tomlin and new CB Jalen Ramsey that certainly got our full attention. We discuss both interviews and especially Ramsey's in depth. I explain why the Ramsey interview really has me even more fired up when it comes to the impact he can make on defense for the 2025 season and beyond. This 140-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap, and we make sure to answer several email questions we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. On the Tuesday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette sports columnist welcomes insider Ray Fittipaldo to react to Cam Heyward's comments about his contract dispute with the Steelers. Did Heyward have valid critiques of dealing with GM Omar Khan's front office, a year after signing a contract extension? Why don't his comments seem to have helped his favorability among fans? And will he find a resolution that prevents him from missing regular season games? Later, the guys analyze the preseason victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars and what it tells us about the offense. Specifically, they discuss how valuable Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu can be if they're both healthy and playing well at tackle this season; the encouraging contributions of receivers including Roman Wilson and Scotty Miller; and the importance of quick throws from QBs Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and, eventually, Aaron Rodgers. They also give their thoughts on the overall roster depth and small offseason improvements that may have been overshadowed by big moves for Rodgers, Jonnu Smith, DK Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey.

RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot recap the Mariners' Ichiro celebration weekend, praising the team's tribute while questioning the odd inclusion of Tom Brady in the video montage—especially after deliberately omitting Alex Rodriguez to avoid boos. Episode 346's “area code spotlight” on Houston's, highlights a long list of famous residents and musical talent from ZZ Top and Kenny Rogers to Beyoncé and Travis Scott. Mitch and Hotshot marvel at the Mariners' blistering run—seven straight wins, 13 games over .500, and now just a game behind the Astros with 43 to play. With stars like Gino Suarez yet to heat up and pitching still not at peak form, the duo wonders just how high this team's ceiling might be. In this Mariners No-Table, Mitch, Joe Doyle, and Brady Farkas break down Seattle's 9–1 homestand, surging offense, and remarkable lineup depth even with Gino Suarez and Cal Raleigh struggling. They debate bullpen concerns—especially Andres Muñoz's command—plus looming roster decisions with Luke Raley and Victor Robles returning. Jacson Bevens joins Mitch for some key takeaways from Seattle's preseason opener, spotlighting rookie WR Tory Horton's strong debut, dynamic fullback usage, and a cleverly schemed interception that showcased Mike Macdonald's defense. They discuss the ceiling and depth of the defense, the roles of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, and the need for top performances from CBs Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon. In this re-aired classic, John Tesh tells Mitch the now-famous story of how “Roundball Rock” was born, from humming the tune into his answering machine in Europe to bringing it to life in the studio. He shares behind-the-scenes details about working with NBC, the song's enduring legacy, and his surprise at how deeply it has embedded itself in basketball culture. On this episode of the JT Sports Podcast, JT goes all in on the forced hate against Travis Hunter after his quiet preseason debut with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He breaks down why Hunter's two-way skillset is still elite, why size doesn't determine greatness, and why tackling Derrick Henry shouldn't be the measuring stick for a shutdown corner. JT then flips to the jaw-dropping 70-yard field goal from Jaguars kicker Cam Little, arguing that his leg is so deadly it might be more broken than the tush push. From there, he puts the NFL on notice about how Cam Ward could make Calvin Ridley a household name again and one of the league's most productive receivers in 2025. Finally, JT examines the stunning fall of Jeff Okudah from top-three draft pick to fighting for a roster spot, and whether Brian Flores can engineer one of the greatest redemption arcs in recent NFL memory.

August 10, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 8 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Sunday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers on the heels of their Saturday night preseason game win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After some initial overarching thoughts on the first preseason game, Alex and I roll through the additional players that did not play against the Jaguars due to injuries. We also go over the one injury the Steelers did sustain during the Saturday night preseason game that HC Mike Tomlin highlighted during his short postgame press conference. Alex and I then get into breaking down the Saturday night preseason game based only on the television copy, and we start on the offensive side of the football. We discuss the play of quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson on Saturday night and how both played well above the line. We discuss those two quarterbacks pushing the football down the field quite frequently in Jacksonville and also discuss the few touchdown passes from the game. Could Thompson potentially make the Steelers 53-man roster as the third string quarterback over rookie Will Howard? Might the Steelers consider placing Howard on the Reserve/Injured list to accommodate Thompson? How about the Steelers potentially trading Thompson before the start of the 2025 regular season? We discuss all of those questions early in this show. Moving forward in this preseason game recap, Alex and I go through all of the position groups on both sides of the football. We talk snap totals and the play of several individual players on both offense and defense against the Jaguars. We make sure to hit on the offensive line combinations used Saturday night and how the pass blocking was much better than the run blocking in Jacksonville. Alex and I make sure to note the play of all of the rookie draft picks that played Saturday night such as DT Derrick Harmon, RB Kaleb Johnson, OLB Jack Sawyer, DT Yahya Black, and ILB Carson Bruener. We make sure to hit on special teams play from Saturday night and that includes the Jaguars kicker nailing a 70-yard field goal before the end of the first half. Our top takeaways from the first preseason game of 2025 are also mixed in throughout this podcast episode. This 65-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap, and we make sure to give our and the Steelers' schedule for this coming week. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the recent transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers that include a new quarterback and offensive lineman being signed on Thursday. We go over the corresponding moves to those new signings and also discuss how a few more transactions might be on the way ahead of Saturday night. On Thursday, Steelers DT Cameron Heyward and K Chris Boswell both dominated the team's headlines due to their contract situations ahead of the 2025 regular season getting underway. Alex and I spend a lot of time in this show discussing why this contract news with both Heyward and Boswell has surfaced at this point of the offseason and what the options are for potentially appeasing both players. We talk about what could and likely will happen with both Heyward and Boswell prior to the regular season starting and how both players could still potentially be back in the same place a year from now when it comes to each's 2026 earnings. We make sure to discuss the pushbacks that a lot of fans seem to have when it comes to both players and specifically when it comes to Heyward. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin met with the media on Thursday to discuss the upcoming preseason game on Saturday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Alex and I go over the extensive list of players that Tomlin said won't play Saturday night and why. We also go over a few things that Tomlin had to say on Thursday about a few younger Steelers players such RB Kaleb Johnson, WR Roman Wilson, and ILB Payton Wilson. Alex and I then preview the Saturday night road preseason game against the Jaguars when it comes to all three phases. We discuss the likely staring units, playing time and even attempt to take a stab at the quarterback rotation used and playing time. We make sure to go over some of the key things we'll both be looking for against the Jaguars. Later in this show, Alex and I discuss what Steelers president Art Rooney II recently said about the team's travel plans for the Week 4 road game in Dublin, Ireland against the Minnesota Vikings. This 103-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap, and we make sure to answer a few listener questions at the very end. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
