Porque ter filhos? A pergunta me foi disparada durante uma tarde de pouco sol, o que tornava o dia levemente mais frio, mas ainda assim, agradável. Apoiei uma das mãos no queixo, enquanto a outra tamborilava os dedos na mesa. À medida que pensava na resposta mais sincera, olhei para cima, observando as nuvens pairando carregadas pela suave brisa pelo céu azulado. Em pouco tempo, já estava divagando entre memórias de uma outra época. Um lugar longínquo que até poderia ser outra vida. Eu fui pai aos 21 anos. Pela idade, é possível imaginar que não foi nada planejado. E realmente não foi. Também não posso dizer que estava preparado para essa grande missão. Mas não acredito que alguém esteja. Eu só tive plena consciência quando ouvi, pela primeira, vez o coraçãozinho do Arthur, que batia tão acelerado quanto uma bateria de heavy metal. Desde esse momento, pulsou em meu corpo uma energia diferente e minha vida mudou por completo. Muitos caminhos e decisões foram tomadas em consequência disso. Dez anos depois, eu fui pai pela segunda vez. A situação era outra, porém, os desafios eram de igual tamanho e não foram poucos. Apesar disso, bastou que eu segurasse o Ravi em meus braços e ouvir seu chorinho, que tive certeza de dar conta. Faria meu melhor. Criar um filho não é uma simples tarefa. Requer muito cuidado, atenção e disposição para ensinar os caminhos da vida. Nesse ponto, eu tive a sorte de possuir exemplos incríveis: meu pai Janary e meu avô Gerardo. Cada um, à sua maneira, fez com que eu soubesse o que fazer e onde acertar. Ouso dizer que meu pai é uma pessoa tão maravilhosa que eu jamais vou conseguir ser tão bom quanto ele. Meu consolo é que meus filhos tiveram oportunidade de crescer e conviver com o avô e o bisavô. Fisgado por todas essas lembranças, esqueci-me de responder o questionamento: porque ter filhos? Bem, como me propus a dar a resposta mais sincera, o que posso dizer é que os filhos são a forma mais pura de amor e nos ensinam mais sobre nossa vida, do que poderíamos aprender de qualquer outra forma. Os filhos nos fazem evoluir e com eles, compreendemos o verdadeiro significado de palavras como dedicação, sacrifício e esforço. Uma palavra que se aplica muito bem ao sentimento de ter filhos é plenitude, que significa estar completo e perfeito dentro da sua totalidade. E é isso que eu sinto. Por Janary Damacena.

Quando eu era garoto, fiz diversas longas viagens de carro com meus pais. Naqueles tempos a maior tecnologia para ouvir música eram as fitas K-7, que tinham em média 60 minutos de gravação. Pois bem, em uma dessas viagens por rodovias interestaduais, estávamos sem fitas no carro (e eu não lembro por que), então meu pai parou em um posto de gasolina da beira da estrada e comprou três ou quatro fitas, dentre elas uma com as melhores músicas do Raul Seixas. Ele e minha mãe gostam muito até hoje, mas naquela viagem em especial, ouvimos as mesmas músicas por mais de 600 quilômetros. No meio daquelas pérolas roqueiras, uma das músicas eu ouvi pela primeira vez e me deixou pensativo em sua letra. Na verdade até hoje eu penso na dura verdade que é a mensagem principal da melodia do Trem das 7. Nela, Raul Seixas canta que o trem vem chegando, apitando os que sabem do trem. Nele, não precisa passagem nem mesmo bagagem. Então, quem vai chorar e quem vai sorrir? Quem vai ficar e quem vai partir? Essa música pode tratar a respeito de diversas mensagens, mas para mim, fala sobre o tempo. Essa palavra é tão volátil quanto os significados em que a empregamos. Por vezes quer dizer movimento; mas pode se referir à condição climática; ou pode se referir a uma época, a um período, um prazo, alguma hora específica; ou pode simplesmente se tratar de uma oportunidade. E quantas oportunidades nós desperdiçamos por acreditar que sempre teremos mais tempo no futuro? Quantos momentos deixaram de ser vividos por acreditarmos que poderíamos fazer as mesmas coisas depois? Pois é, mas o que todo mundo sabe (ou deveria saber) é que o tempo não para e também não volta. Parece banal falar sobre isso, algo tão simples de entender. Mas não é bem assim. Acreditamos sempre ter mais tempo do que realmente temos. E sabem de uma coisa? Vivemos para conquistar formas diferentes de aproveitar nosso tempo. Tudo o que fazemos está ligado diretamente ao nosso tempo. Quando trabalhamos, estamos colocando um preço sobre quanto tempo vamos precisar para desempenhar uma função; ou na quantidade de tempo que tivemos que estudar para aprender a aquela função. Mas o mais precioso de tudo é o tempo que dispomos para as pessoas que amamos. Nossos filhos, pais, esposa, marido, amigos... a lista é grande. Mas não muda o fato de que nosso bem mais valioso é o tempo, aquele em que passamos junto a essas pessoas e como aproveitamos esse tempo. Hoje eu tenho certeza de falaria para o Janary de quase trinta anos atrás: Aproveite essa viagem de carro, ouça mais Raul Seixas com seus pais, brinque mais com seus filhos do parquinho... o tempo é tudo aquilo de melhor que temos a oferecer para outras pessoas. Research confirms alligators are eating sharks A new study confirms that alligators on the Atlantic and Gulf coast of the United States are eating small sharks. The scientific documentation is the first study to establish the extensive interaction between the two species. To conduct the study the researchers captured hundreds of living alligators, pumped their stomachs to learn what they’ve been eating, and then returned the gators to their natural environment. Our next National Park may be in Indiana A 15,000-acre park stretching along the Lake Michigan Shoreline cleared its first hurdle to become a National Park. The House Committee on Natural Resources approved legislation to designate the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore as a National Park. If passed, the designation would create the first National Park in Indiana and the 60th in the United States. Momma bear and cubs break into pizza shop, feast on salami A Colorado man has a video of three bears breaking into his pizzeria to eat salami and dough. “It was really fun to come into that one,” Tony Francher, the co-owner of Antonio’s Real New York Pizza in Estes Park told CBS news. The black bears reportedly broke through the front window of the Estes Park pizzeria, but in a string of comments on Facebook, the owner isn’t blaming the bears. He’s blaming bear-proof Dumpsters installed throughout the city. NASA offers program to send your name to Mars Next spring NASA plans to launch its InSight mission to study the interior of Mars and now your name can travel to the Red Planet with the spacecraft. NASA will upload the registered names to a dime-size chip and secure it to the InSight lander deck. The InSight was originally scheduled to launch in March of 2017, but NASA suspended launch preparations in December due to a vacuum leak in its prime science instrument. The InSight is currently scheduled for a May 2018 launch and will then have a six-month journey to Mars. InSight will be carrying science instruments and hundreds of thousands of names. The rules are changing for lodging at Grand Canyon’s Phantom Ranch Effective with stays of January 2019 and beyond, Phantom Ranch will utilize a lottery system for random selection of bed space. Lottery  entries will be required between the 1st and 25th of the 15th month prior to the desired stay month. Lottery submissions will be processed, lottery winners notified and reservations guaranteed within the 14th month prior. Any unsold/unclaimed inventory will be released to general availability for reservations following the current 13-month reservation window. Translation Want to stay in Janary 2019? You enter the lottery (online) between November 1-25, 2017 The lottery will be processed and you’ll be notified in December 2017 Unsold inventory will be avilable January 2, 2018 (normally on the 1st of the month, January is on the 2nd due to the New Year’s Day holiday)
