Jasmine Johnson is like a very rare flowering plant. You likely did not know who she was, but now that you know you're like "How has this beautiful flower not been known to me before?" Then, suddenly, you have a whole new favorite flower. Mary and Jasmine have been rolling together since they were teens. If you want to hear all about their lives as badass Catholic school girls, this is the episode for you. Note: The opinions stated by hosts and guest do not necessarily represent the opinions of their employers. With the Supreme Court decision that ended Roe v Wade, states, hospitals, clinics, and caregivers are scrambling to figure out how to provide necessary health services without running afoul of often unclear, poorly created, and poorly worded laws. With disparities already existing in health care — particularly in birthing mortality rates — the end of safe access to abortion in many states will likely mean even greater mortality among Black and other underrepresented minority communities. In this episode, Anne and Ruby are speaking again with Dr. Jasmine Johnson, this time about the potential ramifications of this decision on all people who can get pregnant. Listen up, and if you're so moved, get active to protect reproductive health! Follow Dr. Johnson on Instagram @MrsMommyMD and check out her blog: http://www.mrsmommymd.com/. Among the "industrialized" nations, the United States fares worst in terms of maternal mortality. That means more birthing people die in childbirth in the US than in any other industrialized nation. In fact, in 2017, US rates of death from childbirth actually went UP. And for Black people giving birth, the risk of death is even higher. Why are pregnancy and childbirth so much more dangerous in the US than in so much of the world, and why is it even more dangerous for people of color? Dr. Jasmine Johnson is a physician and assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Indian University School of Medicine. She is a fierce advocate for improving equity in obstetrics and gynecology and health care as a whole. In this episode, Ruby and Anne talk with Dr. Johnson about the historical and continuing disparities in health care and how we might understand and solve them. Today on the podcast, we are diving into all things personal finance with my guest Jasmine Johnson. It's often a conversation that can be uncomfortable, but it's truly one of the most valuable subjects to discuss. Jasmine started her career as a financial professional out of necessity. She found herself in the position at the age of 17 where she had to take care of her and her two sisters on her own. That started her on the path to being the money queen she is today. We discuss a range of basic personal finance strategies, but here's the BIG takeaway: A framework for personal finance success. Are you ready? Here it is! 5 simple steps to get you on track for financial success. PLAN – Have a plan so you can identify where you are and where you're going. SET A SAVINGS GOAL – Put that inside your budget and work toward it. CREATE A BUDGET – Hello! Everyone needs a budget. MINDSET – How you will achieve your goals. ACTION – Put everything into action – this is the most important. See the show notes for the full post.

This episode of The Mommy Labor Nurse Podcast is all about the realities of black maternal health here in the US, and what we can do to spark change! I actually put this article out last year, but I wanted to re-release it this week in honor of Black Maternal Health Week 2022. to spark any kind of change surrounding racism in healthcare (and specifically in black maternal health) I truly believe that awareness is the first step.

We're right in the thick of spooky season so we've got a special interview this week. We had a chat with co-executive producer Jasmine Johnson and one of the stars, Mischa Osherovich from Crypt TV's new original series 'The Girl In the Woods,' now streaming on Peacock. In this supernatural drama we follow Carrie's escape from a cult that guards the world from monsters hidden behind a secret door within the woods. We had a nice chat and of course had to throw in some of our usual antics. HOPE Y'ALL ENJOY!!! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

After a traumatic event, Carrie goes on the run from her cult to the local logging town where she makes friends with local teens Tasha and Nolan. But her cult isn't done with her...and neither are the monsters from the other side of the door. It's got some of the DNA of a show like Buffy, but it deals with gender, race, sexuality, disability, class, and addiction with a cast and crew that are remarkably inclusive including a head writer who's a trans woman, a queer woman of color producing, and a non-binary lead played by a non-binary actor in Nolan (Misha Osherovich). It's inclusive queer teen horror in a way you've never seen it before. All eight episodes are streaming on Peacock today, but we had the amazing chance to sit down and talk to actor Misha Osherovich and executive producer Jasmine Johnson about the series, it's dedication to getting right, and all the things it does that we've never seen in a teen action horror show!Recommendations:TerminatorJennifer's BodyFollow Misha on twitter at: @mishaosherovichFollow Jasmine on instagram at: @jazzfacekillaCheck out The Girl in the Woods on Peacock!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Today I'm talking to Emotional Wellness Coach, Jasmine Johnson, about grief and how to properly heal from it. The conversation with Jasmine and I went from discussing the different types of grief, dating, marriage, cancer, and nutrition. And guess what? It's all connected! Jasmine's Bio Jasmine M. Johnson is a writer, mentor, cancer survivor, and Emotional Wellness Coach. Through her business, Embrace Your Healing, she serves women who have experienced loss and are struggling to navigate the grief journey. Her passion for supporting those who are grieving stems from her own extensive journey with loss over the course of her life. Among those losses, the most devastating was the death of her mother in 2016. Knowing that such a significant loss could cause her to lose her will to live, Jasmine made the choice to be intentional about obtaining support to process her grief in a healthy way. The freedom that she experienced (via therapy, grief support, and emotional/spiritual healing) ignited a flame in her to support others in their journey to healing and wholeness, know firsthand that grief is not something that should be tackled alone. Utilizing her Intentional Healing Method, Jasmine helps women to give language to their pain, embrace healing, and go from a place of simply surviving to thriving. One thing that stuck out: You can't heal from what you fail to acknowledge. The Intentional Steps of Healing – 22:08 Compassion – show it towards ourselves and others on the journey. Process – begin to give language to your pain. Feel what you need to feel. Locate – Identify the stages of grief and determine where you are in the process. Faith – The foundation of our hope Support – What support is needed to heal in a healthy manner? Is a support system currently in place? Acceptance – Coming to terms with our past. Final Comments from Jasmine: What you are experiencing is normal. You are not the only one who feels what you feel. It's okay to feel how you feel. Acknowledge it and embrace it. Grief is a journey that should not be traveled alone. Where To Find Jasmine Instagram: jasmine_m_johnson Follow me! Instagram: Taccarra_Renee Facebook Group: A Letter To My Sister Podcast

Have you ever had a situation happen to you that you didn’t think you could bounce back from? That’s what Jasmine Johnson had when she found out she was pregnant right before she went to med school. She talks about how she had to get over the “shame” and opinion of others to accomplish what she thought at one point was impossible. If she can go to med school with a family, you have no excuse! Now she’s a doctor specializing high risk pregnancies and we had a great conversation around her story, how she made it by staying focused and relying on her support system. But my favorite part of the episode was discussing why black women are the most high risks for death during pregnancy. She breaks it down for me why that’s happening and how her role is to change this. In this episode we talk about: Black women and the maternal mortality rate being 10 times as high Getting over rejection Self care - making your health a priority Working out to Beyonce videos - such a smart idea!
