As seen in Shape, VOGUE, New York Times, Today and other major publications...we bring you a treat! Today you are in for sharp lessons on business, the pursuit of aesthetic excellence in the work with this beauty raised in New York, Dr. Jennifer Levine, MD. Not one to be intimidated (she was the only female on a floor of 20 men when she started her surgical residency), we follow the fascinating story of how she got into medicine, her grueling years in medical school, and her no nonsense approach to being a master of her craft, but not "showing" the work. As an multi-faceted artist (she is amazing at calligraphy!) she talks about how her practice of various forms of art informs her surgical practice. As a business owner, Dr. Levine also emphasizes the importance of diversity of thought and surrounding yourself with people who have the business acumen to help you succeed. She also talks about the importance of hard numbers, and understanding what your benchmarks are to win in the game of business. Link in bio-leave us a review! @drjenniferlevine www.drjenniferlevine.com About Our Guest: Dr. Jennifer Levine is an award-winning, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, world-renowned beauty expert and steadfast innovator. When she started her surgical residency at Lenox Hill in 1995, she was the only female among 20 men, and prior to her career as a cosmetic surgeon, she was a professional calligrapher — proving that not all doctors have bad handwriting. From an early age, Dr. Levine has had a profound appreciation for beauty, precision and mathematics, solidifying her future career in aesthetic medicine. She believes that beauty is both a science and art — and prides herself on her proprietary “Art of the Assessment.” Her patients know that when they're in her office, they're in the presence of mastery — the ultimate expert in symmetry. In addition to running her Manhattan private practice, Dr. Levine is an attending plastic surgeon at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Levine's passion for innovation earned her recognition from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, who named her Vice Chairman of the Board for Emerging Trends in Technology in the Cosmetic Industry and Co-Chair at the 2021 Masters of Facial Plastic Surgery. Earlier this year, Dr. Levine was invited to join an esteemed cohort of fellow female physicians as part of Merz Aesthetic's BeHer empowerment collective. In 2021, Dr. Levine was named Castle Connolly Top Doctor for the fifth year in a row, as well as one of New York Magazine's Best Doctors. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/diamondhands/message

She is a winter child; her hair and eyes are the limpid darkness of the solstice. She confuses everyone in spring, because she runs with light feet over melting snow and budding flowerbeds, throwing fertilizer every which way and generally appreciating growing things. In summer, she hides from the sun with books in hand and bag, or seeks out dark corners where secrets hide. But when the leaves turn brown and the air grows cold enough to slow the smoke stacks as they climb, she becomes expectant: this is when carnival comes to the city. "Carnival will take her someday," she hears them whisper as she walks past the crowded cafes and the silent sidewalks. "Carnival will claim her as its rightful child." She ignores the gazes, flinty from fear of blackmail. The city people's secrets are mundane, and she has stopped looking for these; the city's secrets are more interesting, and she has found some of those.
