With a diverse musical upbringing spanning country, rock, pop, red dirt, blues, and 90s rock, Danny Spiro showcases his unique take on country music through high-octane performances that captivate audiences with infectious enthusiasm, igniting the crowd. With his slightly rough-around-the-edges yet charismatic southern charm, this blue-collar musician is one you can't help but root for. Hailing from humble roots in Mobile, Alabama, and with aspirations to one day grace the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage, Danny made the bold move to Nashville, TN, to carve out his path to success. A defining moment at the age of 14 was witnessing an electrifying performance by a local band that had achieved success: 3 Doors Down. Feeling the pulsating energy of the venue and witnessing the intense engagement of the crowd left a lasting impression, igniting Danny's desire to evoke similar emotions in others. Teaming up with acclaimed drummer and producer Grady Saxman, whose credits include Luke Combs, Dustin Lynch, Trey Lewis, Muscadine Bloodline, Kassi Ashton, and Uncle Kracker, Danny is poised to make waves with his upcoming music. From intimate songwriter rounds where Danny showcases his storytelling prowess to being a sought-after performer on Nashville's famed Broadway strip, he dazzles audiences at renowned establishments such as Blake Shelton's Ole Red, Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa, Tootsies, Big Machine, Bus Call Showcase - Tin Roof Midtown, FGL House, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson's, Kid Rock's, and Jason Aldean's. And this is just the beginning. Excited to listen to Danny Spiro's music? Keep an ear out for his highly anticipated EP, slated for release later in 2025. In this episode, Laura and Tracy sit down with songwriter, producer and publisher Luke Laird. Luke talks the magic of writers' rounds, being reluctant to ask for help, letting go of jealousy and the nitty gritty details of his early publishing deals. Laura also shares the story of a pivotal moment that lead to her being a songwriter. Ferocious talent, wit, and sincere humility rarely come together like they do in Grammy winner Luke Laird. Since moving to Nashville from a small farming town in Pennsylvania, Laird has become one of country and pop's top songwriters and producers. The numbers are staggering: 52 radio singles –– 24 of which were Billboard No. 1 hits and 5 of which were in the Top 5 –– 2 Billboard No. 1 singles as a producer, and more than 125 released cuts fill his catalog. In four separate years, every single released that Laird wrote peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. He earned ACM Songwriter of the Year honors in 2015, and was named BMI Songwriter of the Year in 2012.   As a producer, Laird has helped shape some of music's most critically acclaimed projects of the last decade. He co-produced Kacey Musgraves' 2013 debut, Same Trailer, Different Park, which garnered Grammy honors for Best Country Album and an ACM Album of the Year win. In 2015, he returned to the studio with Musgraves to co-produce her triumphant sophomore release, Pageant Material. Laird earned his second Grammy for Best Country Song with Musgraves' “Space Cowboy” in 2019. He also has producer credits on Thomas Rhett, Ingrid Michaelson, Brett Eldredge, Steve Moakler, Everette, Kassi Ashton, Anna Vaus and more.   A slew of Grammy, ACM, CMA, and other nominations line Laird's resume, which also includes six CMA Triple Play Awards, four NSAI “Songs I Wish I'd Written” Awards, the 2012 BMI Country Song of the Year trophy for Rodney Atkins' “Take a Back Road,” and more. His list of No. 1 singles reads like a carefully curated playlist of soulful contemporary country: “Hard To Forget” (Sam Hunt); “Fast” and “I See You” (Luke Bryan); “Head Over Boots” (Jon Pardi); “T-Shirt” (Thomas Rhett); “Gonna” and “Hillbilly Bone” (Blake Shelton); “Talladega,” “Give Me Back My Hometown,” and “Drink In My Hand” (Eric Church); “American Kids” (Kenny Chesney); “Sunshine & Whiskey” (Frankie Ballard); “One of Those Nights” (Tim McGraw); “Downtown” (Lady Antebellum); “Somebody's Heartbreak” (Hunter Hayes); “Beat This Summer” (Brad Paisley); “Pontoon” (Little Big Town); “You” (Chris Young); “A Little Bit Stronger” (Sara Evans); “Take A Back Road” (Rodney Atkins); and “Temporary Home,” “Undo It,” “So Small,” and “Last Name” (Carrie Underwood).   Other artists who have recorded Laird-penned songs represent a jaw-dropping grab bag of genres: George Strait, Maren Morris, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Brandy Clark, Toby Keith, Jake Owen, Steve Moakler, Sister Hazel, Ingrid Michaelson, Ashley Monroe, Sam Hunt, Angaleena Presley, Nikki Lane, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Sheryl Crow, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Ne-Yo, Neal McCoy, Amy Grant, and many more.   Laird recently released his own record, Music Row, that offers an intimate look into his journey from Hartstown to Nashville. The first-ever record from one of music's most trusted creators and collaborators, Music Row is a songwriter's story, traversing childhood, grief, addiction, family, and the community he loves. The songs are deeply personal and sometimes raw, all delivered by the songwriter himself.   Today, Laird writes for and co-owns Nashville-based publishing and management company Creative Nation with his wife, Beth.   Learn more about your ad choices. Not everyone in the music industry has known that's where they wanted to be at an early age. In the case of Beth Laird, a forced internship with her childhood nanny, resulted in finding a life-long passion and drive for music and artists. Beth is the CEO and founder of Creative Nation Music and has been turning Nashville on its head for years.  Her perspective on mindset and courage is truly amazing. It was her courage to make shifts and try new things that pushed her to greater and greater heights in the music industry. That same courage helped her to step into her own publishing company when she realized that she was not meant to serve the masses.  The experiences she gained while working with country music legends helped her to start and grow her own publishing company. She now focuses more energy on fewer people and is dedicated to helping them build the life and careers that they love.  Creative Nation has had 17 #1 hit songs (so far!) and has had songs recorded by top artists such as Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, John Legend, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, and many others. Creative Nation's roster includes Lori McKenna, Alec Bailey, Barry Dean, Bear Rinehart, Luke Laird, Casey Brown, Jonathan Hutcherson, Kassi Ashton, Steve Moakler, Travis Wood, and Tyler Johnson.  She credits her faith and her ongoing relationship with her therapist for helping her to put into place a super positive workplace culture. Her staff, and the artists and writers that she works with, are all like family and they have very specific guidelines for anyone new coming into their sphere. Listen as she shares her story in the music industry. Everything that she has been through, all the good and the bad, have led her to an amazing place and she is so excited to share her dream with her family.  We even touch on women in the music industry and her thoughts and the disparity in success between genders. This episode we discuss new music Fridays, our favorite artists, and some concerts we have attended. We have so many artists that we love and know we left many out, but it was hard to stay on track with talking about the music that we love.  We discussed Selena Gomez's interview with Zane Lowe and how she talked about her music influence from her mother. Zane brought up a good point that her mom wasn't a genre lover but a lover of songs. This hit me as that's how I view music. Artists mentioned in this episode are... Macklemore, Nickelback, Lizzo, Julia Michaels, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance , Hawthorne Heights, Relient K, Green Day, Secondhand Serenade, Sum 41, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Hanson, No Doubt, N*SYNC, Madonna, Vanilla Ice, Kylie Minogue (The artist I couldn’t remember the cassette of), Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Jewel, Mumford & Sons, Blink-182, Taylor Swift (we don’t go into detail on her as she deserves her own episode, watch out for Episode 13), Kesha , Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Kassi Ashton, The Highwoman, Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde, Metalica, Led Zepplin, Pantera, Bleachers, Lorde, Katy Perry, IZ, Selena Gomez, Halsey, and P!nk. New music, a preview, and getting to know Ivory Layne and Kassi Ashton. Ivory Layne, one of Justin Timberlake's artist's under Villa 40 just released "Cookie Cutter" and Kassi Ashton takes us back to California...Missouri. Look out for the full episode of Ivory Layne in a couple of weeks and stream all their music where ever it's the coolest.    Layne started songwriting at age six but didn't take serious interest until turning fourteen. She taught herself music production, working from her bedroom and posting demos online. In 2011, her work caught the attention of Grammy award-winning producer, Ed Cash. The two wrote, produced, and released her first EP, Volume One, in 2013. Shortly after, Layne moved from her hometown of Denver, NC, to Nashville, TN, to further her artist career. "Cookie Cutter" is Ivory's latest release but in the conversation, we get a spoon full of her quick whit and personality. Download "Cookie Cutter" and all her past releases anywhere and visit  for everything including tour dates. Follow her @ivorylayne.   Swagger and vibe all day with Kassi Ashton. I've known and listened to her music but we get to know Kassi and her music in this conversation. Growing up "unconventionally" in a Missouri town left Ashton to her art. From fashion to music, creating is more than just a hobby or a job. Then working at Hooters to going to school in a conservative school for music, Kassi wins her showcase to eventually become the artist we know today. From Keith Urban's "Drop Top" to her own music with writers like Luke Dick, Natalie Hemby, Luke Laird, and others creating with her. It's a breath of Nashville bubble fresh air. New music is out now and she continues to release new music just about every couple of months. Her latest release, "Field Party" is out now and you can visit  for her merch, news, and everything else. Follow her @kassiashton.

Few people have the power to have you lock in with who they are within the first handshake. Kassi Ashton is one of those musicians that when she enters a room, you know there’s something. Pretty Shiny Things, her latest release, gives you a depth of her that you may not have even noticed when this California, Missouri native first busted on the scene. In this sneak peek to all new episodes we talk about the ugly truth of validation, breakdown her recent releases, and her view of the relationship between music and the radio business. Kassi Ashton is a Missouri native with a California, L.A. vibe. So I guess being from California, Missouri makes perfect sense…almost. Going through the motions of high school and thinking about college landed her in Nashville, Tennessee’s Belmont University studying voice. After winning the Country Showcase hosted by the university, life quickly involved publishing deals, record contracts, and writing songs. The Huffington Post gives Kassi “mad props for her songwriting and stage presence” while CMT calls Kassi “fearless” and notes “her point of view is inspired and her storytelling knows no bounds.” This still remains constant with Ashton. With recording and writing songs for herself, there’s no way she’s slowing down or changing who she is. We like that. Named “Who to Watch” by ,  and radio personality Bobby Bones’ , Kassi also caught the attention of country superstar Keith Urban. Describing her as “such a unique, original creature,” Urban featured Kassi on his song “Drop Top” for his latest album Graffiti U. Be sure to follow Kassi and visit for tour dates and merch swag.

Kassi Ashton had us laughing hard with her tales of working as a karaoke DJ in Nashville before signing her record deal. Now, she’s shaking things up in country music with her new video for “Violins.” She tells as about creating the singular look and concept for the clip, which features some jaw-dropping choreography. On top of her recent collaboration with Keith Urban, Kassi has also turned heads fashion sense, which has led to a partnership with Forever 21 for International Women's Day. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
