The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Carly and I were thrilled to have Josh Crutchmer back on the show to talk about his 3rd and latest book, Red Dirt Unplugged. Along with working a day job for a little ol publication called the New York Times, native Okie and Red Dirt Music Fan, Josh Crutchmer, is a journalist who's played a significant role in getting recognition for the artists and the music we all dig for years now. For example, Josh just spent an entire year basically embedded with Wyatt Flores as he rides a very hot streak into the fall. He was in the studio with him as he recorded his latest album. Josh has also been spending a lot of time with The Great Divide as they capped their comeback this year with some Texas Music honors as well as their Opry debut in July and their Ryman debut (opening for Wyatt) coming in December! Over the past year, Josh has also had his articles published in Rolling stone featuring artists like Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen, Dylan Gossett, Koe Wetzel, American Aquarium, Cody Canada, Reckless Kelly, Muscadine Bloodline, Dasha, Shane Smith, Old 97s and Charles Wesley Godwin. So, let's just say Josh has his pulse on the scene and the exciting time we're all experiencing in our favorite genre of original music. We were thrilled to have him on the show and we can't recommend his book highly enough! With a diverse musical upbringing spanning country, rock, pop, red dirt, blues, and 90s rock, Danny Spiro showcases his unique take on country music through high-octane performances that captivate audiences with infectious enthusiasm, igniting the crowd. With his slightly rough-around-the-edges yet charismatic southern charm, this blue-collar musician is one you can't help but root for. Hailing from humble roots in Mobile, Alabama, and with aspirations to one day grace the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage, Danny made the bold move to Nashville, TN, to carve out his path to success. Feeling the pulsating energy of the venue and witnessing the intense engagement of the crowd left a lasting impression, igniting Danny's desire to evoke similar emotions in others. Teaming up with acclaimed drummer and producer Grady Saxman, whose credits include Luke Combs, Dustin Lynch, Trey Lewis, Muscadine Bloodline, Kassi Ashton, and Uncle Kracker, Danny is poised to make waves with his upcoming music. From intimate songwriter rounds where Danny showcases his storytelling prowess to being a sought-after performer on Nashville's famed Broadway strip, he dazzles audiences at renowned establishments such as Blake Shelton's Ole Red, Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa, Tootsies, Big Machine, Bus Call Showcase - Tin Roof Midtown, FGL House, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson's, Kid Rock's, and Jason Aldean's. On this episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Maks Gabriel! Based in Nashville, Maks is a Canadian-American music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Having studied classical piano growing up at The McGill Conservatory of Music in Montreal, Maks had a love and drive for music in his youth that propelled him to where he is today. Prior to moving to the Music City, Maks worked closely with Ryan Kowarsky of the group RyanDan. Together, they wrote and produced numerous hit songs with multiple Canadian artists, including Massari, Danny Fernandes, Belly, and Mia Martina. That success included a Juno nomination for "Dance Recording of the Year" for their work on Mia Martina's Devotion album. With a love for songwriting that eventually led him to Nashville, Maks continued to make a name for himself and build upon the musical foundation he built in Canada. Over the years, he's worked with artists ranging from Clint Lowery of Sevendust, members of 3 Doors Down, Honey County, Muscadine Bloodline, Cassadee Pope, and CB30, among others. He also produced and co-wrote the song "Got It From My Mama" from Honey County, which reached 1 billion views on TikTok. Additionally, Maks' love for TV & film has led to his songs being placed on hit shows like Yellowstone, Nashville, True Blood, The Mindy Project, and Roswell New Mexico, among others. In this episode, Maks talks with Mike about his early love for music, including studying classical piano under the renowned Russian piano virtuoso Marina Goglidze-Mdivani, what he learned about music from that experience, turning down multiple job promotions to chase his songwriting dreams, what it was like starting over in the Music City, and more. This episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman also features the cinematic remix of the song "I Mean This" from Maks Gabriel and Clint Lowery, available where you get your music!
