This episode of the Dan Caplis Show is a must-listen for anyone interested in the world of politics and media bias. The host dives into a fascinating case of alleged media manipulation, where a prominent debate moderator is accused of protecting Democrats at the expense of Republicans. In this episode, the host discusses the recent decision by KUSA to not host a debate between Julie Gonzalez, a young Latina state senator, and John Hickenlooper, a Democrat running for the US Senate. Gonzalez was gaining momentum in the polls, closing in on Hickenlooper's lead, and many believe that a debate would have given her a much-needed platform to showcase her policies. The host argues that KUSA's decision not to host the debate was a deliberate attempt to protect the Democratic Party, citing the station's history of favoring Democrats in their debates. The host also touches on the topic of media bias, highlighting the importance of unbiased moderation in debates. They point out that KUSA's debate moderator, Kyle Clark, has a reputation for being one of the most talented in the state, but also for using his skills to protect Democrats. The host believes that this is a disservice to the people of Colorado, who deserve to see all candidates put to the test. If you're interested in learning more about this intriguing case and the implications of media bias in politics, tune in to this episode of the Dan Kaplis Show. The host provides a thought-provoking analysis of the situation and raises important questions about the role of media in shaping public opinion.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It appears most car thefts in Denver are due to repeat offender. I know, we are as surprised as you, wink. George welcomes Commander Mike Greenwell from CMAT to talk about a report outlining the number of auto theft repeat offenders. Even KUSA did an investigation and found just 10 people were responsible for at least 54 car thefts and many of them were out on little or no band at all when they continued to steal cars. The donation is the single largest donation in the organization's history since its founding in 1912, and will help the organization recoup a loss of programming and membership as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to reporting from KUSA.com. According to the report, only 2% of philanthropic giving in the United States goes directly to programs expressly interested in serving women and girls. Aron Bender talks with Lori Lizarraga -- a TV news reporter who just finished a two-year stint at KUSA 9News in Denver. Prior to that she worked at KGET in Bakersfield. On her way out of Colorado she wrote an article for Denver news website Westword.com called "LatinXed: 9News Got Rid of Three Latina Reporters This Past Year, Including Me." (linked below) She writes about what she describes as oppressive policies and actions — including using “illegal” instead of “undocumented,” one reporter wasn't allowed to cover immigration stories unless she revealed her immigration status, Lori says she wasn't even allowed to wear her hair in a bun with a middle part as she's seen and worn as a Mexican and Ecuadorian woman all her life, and a week after she and her colleagues presented a plan to improve the station's coverage of last year's racial justice movement SHE was put on improvement plan. In this episode we get into Lori's thought process going into writing the article, concerns about what she's done to her career, and conversations with her siblings and immigrant parents before and since it came out. ••• Connect with Lori Lizarraga: https://www.instagram.com/lorilizarraga/ https://twitter.com/lorilizarraga READ: LatinXed: 9News Got Rid of Three Latina Reporters This Past Year, Including Me https://www.westword.com/news/9news-latina-reporter-kusa-media-discrimination-diversity-11925702 Lori on The Aron Bender Podcast on YouTube: https://youtu.be/4T7xqx9bQEs ••• Connect with Aron Bender at www.aronbender.com NEW!
