In episode 704, Jackie Thesing shares how food bloggers can go beyond their blogs by pursuing sponsored posts, media appearances, and other visibility opportunities to grow their brand. Jackie Thesing left her corporate job in 2017 to stay home full time with her daughter. Since then, she has welcomed two more children and started her dessert blog, Sweet Girl Treats! She launched the blog as a way to find something for herself outside of motherhood, and it has turned into SO much more. In this episode, you'll learn actionable tips for landing brand sponsorships, making media connections, and confidently putting yourself out there, even when it feels scary. Key points discussed include: - Start with a media kit: Create a simple one-pager to showcase your blog, offerings, and photography—it's the first step to pitching brands professionally. - Pitch brands you genuinely use: Authenticity matters, so look in your pantry or at your favorite products to find meaningful partnership opportunities. - Explore different types of brand collaborations: From recipe development to UGC and sponsored posts, there are many ways to work with companies. - Be bold and follow up: Don't be afraid to message brands on social or follow up multiple times—persistence pays off. - Media appearances build credibility: Local TV shows are often looking for fresh content—reach out and offer to share your expertise. - Interviews and articles expand your reach: Podcasts, online magazines, and lifestyle publications offer valuable backlinks and visibility. - Imposter syndrome is normal—but push through: You know your stuff, and you have something valuable to offer. - Your work has value—charge accordingly: Follower count isn't everything; your content is worthy of fair compensation. The Washington Nationals are entering an exciting new chapter as Major League Baseball announces that they can explore new local television rights starting in 2026, marking the end of a 20-year relationship with MASN. With past media rights disputes resolved, potential new broadcasting partners like Monumental Sports Network are on the horizon, promising enhanced coverage for fans. Additionally, the Nationals have secured a new stadium naming rights deal and jersey sleeve sponsorships that could significantly boost their revenue, allowing for investment in marquee players and a brighter future for the team. In parallel, the upcoming season is pivotal for CJ Abrams, whose performance will be critical as the Nationals aim to move beyond a rebuilding phase. After facing challenges, including a stint in the minors, Abrams is expected to solidify his role as the starting shortstop. Teammates express confidence in his talent and potential, while general manager Mike Rizzo remains optimistic about his development. With the pressure on Abrams to rise to the occasion, his success could be integral in shaping the team's future and improving fan engagement.

The NFL has apparently ended racism in America as they will no longer call for it to be ended with logos on the playing field. All joking aside, this is a really, really big deal as we keep reminding everyone we now live in a post racist/post cancellation free speech America. What a glorious time to be alive. President Trump will attend the game, the first sitting president ever. Andy Reid says he's back for at least another year in 2025, the Chiefs defense is on quite a playoff roll stopping running backs and costs for a possible parade are going to cost taxpayers. The Royals will feature Sunday games on broadcast tv as they announce a new deal. Trump has quite a plan for Gaza that is similar to something I used to joke about at work 25 years ago. And it's a really good idea. The Department of Education is targeted for elimination, USAID is on administrative leave and a plan for Iran is dire if they get out of line. Every day is a whirlwind for the Trump team. Incredible.

The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Are local TV stations being completely honest with you when they gin up anger and tell you the local cable, or satellite, or internet TV provider is “dropping” their channel? No, they are not telling you the whole truth and are in many cases spinning the issue opposite of truth. It is rarely the cable provider dropping the channel, in almost all cases it is the local station refusing the cable company permission for retransmission of the channel because it will not cough up ever more money to do so – which just gets passed right along to you in your cable or satellite TV bill.Wikipedia isn't great but the top part of this entry will give you a basic idea of what is going on and how it got started. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.A Big Win: In victory for gun rights, ATF reverses illegal “zero tolerance” policy for revoking gun store licenses.Speaker BurrowCrat and his team show more evidence of abandoning the conservative Republicans. A former autism center employee tried to report suspected fraud to the state — and got no response. We'll have more on that story and a larger FBI investigation into autism treatment in Minnesota. We'll learn about a proposal to set up new permits for immigrant food vendors in parks. Local TV reporter Courtney Godfrey has an impressive side gig — we'll talk to her about joining Team USA for para-snowboarding. And a new exhibit dives into the history of girlhood — including girl's basketball.
Are we really in a final phase in which only a few local media companies will successfully make the digital transition? Gordon & Corey turn to advertising executive Shawn Riegsecker, who foresees the swift demise of two large and popular types of media but also sees a great deal of opportunities arising from it. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Brad James, son of game show host and television icon, Dennis James. We loved talking to Brad because of all the many connections his dad had to early – and we mean early – television that connected with host Josh Mills own family in early television. Fans of classic television should appreciate this episode as we talk about televisions earliest beginning when there were literally just a few hundred sets in the New York metropolitan area. From there we discuss all the many game shows Dennis James was a part of including landmark shows like: The New Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal and Name That Tune as well as obscure shows like Haggis Baggis, Cash and Carry and Name's The Same. It's why he was known as the “Dean of Game Shows.” We are just scratching the surface here as James worked on commercials, radio, movies and became a philanthropic juggernaut when he hosted the first-ever telethon for united Cerebral Palsy Associations as emcee that continued well into the 1990s. In fact, after his father passed away in 1997, Brad took over that role as host to help keep his father's life work alive. Along the way, we talk golf & Kevin Costner, a skinny kid from New Jersey like James named Sinatra who came up through the ranks together and how his father raised – get this $750 million dollars in his five decades of work for United Cerebral Palsy. There is also a story about Foster Brooks and a gun that entertained us to no end. So please, take a listen to the Rarified Heir Podcast with guest Brad James. Everyone has a story.
The Trail Blazers' expected return to over-the-air broadcasts will make it vastly easier for fans to watch games starting this season, but the team is also in the early stages of a rebuild that should start resonating with fans. On this episode of The Oregonian Sports podcast, hosts Bill Oram and Brenna Greene discuss why the Blazers got out of their ROOT Sports contract at exactly the right time and why this team could be poised to start winning fans back over. Also discussed on the show: • Is there a trap game on Oregon's first Big Ten schedule? • Could Ben Gulbranson be the answer at quarterback for Oregon State? • The oddity of watching former Beavers stars become difference-makers for contenders around the country.
