I appreciate her being so vulnerable today with us. What's in this episode: Getting Real About Mom Life. Megan's Experience as a Young Mom and Wife. Why Megan Left the Corporate World. The Pandemic's Impact on Mental Health. Choosing the Right Therapist and Medication for You. Why Moms Need to Prioritize Themselves. ABOUT MEGAN Megan is a 35 year-old mom of three and married to her high school sweetheart. She first became a mom just two weeks after her 18th birthday and had her last baby at just 23 years-old. She was thrown into motherhood before she really had a chance to figure out who she was. Megan shares openly about her experience with anxiety and depression, and how taking care of her physical health impacts her mental health and vice versa. She was once an overwhelmed mom of three who had no idea who she was, or what she needed to be fulfilled. Now she is prioritizing self care and good mental hygiene to be the best mom and wife that she can be. Her life has been everything but traditional, and she shares all the ups and downs with raw transparency. Her ultimate goal is to normalize all the parts of motherhood that no one tells you about so that other moms don't feel so alone in their own journeys. "A big part of managing my mental health — beyond therapy and meds — is moving my body and spending time outside. I feel my best when on our family camping trips. While some might see these trips as a lot of work, which they are, I find them to be everything I need: connection, fresh air, no Wi-Fi…" Megan Eddinger is a runner and founder and host of the podcast The No BS Mama. She joins Heather to talk about her mental health journey and the ways being self-aware changes us and our relationships for the better. They talk about noticing our "warning signs" -- the perhaps not-so-healthy ways we cope with everyday stress -- and how shifts in our mindset (and prioritizing sleep and making room for the little, meaningful things in life) can help us feel better and improve our overall well-being. Megan Eddinger, host of the No BS Mama Podcast (& yes that is BS as in BullS*iT) is someone whom I met via the internet and via my podcasting course in May of 2020.Megan and I are now in a Podcasting Mastermind together and I wanted to bring her on to highlight what it means to have a side hustle out of necessity, to work multiple jobs based on circumstance and than what it looks like to have a hobby vs. an actual side business or passion project. Hey girl, thank you for being here for this episode. In this episode, we have Megan Eddinger sharing her story about her experience being a teenage mom. Pregnant at 17 years old, she often felt alone because as she was trying to figure out how to support her newborn, most of her friends were moving away for college. Megan mentioned that the hardest part of being a teen mom is that she didn't have the chance to get to know herself before taking care of the needs of her baby. A positive of being a teenage mom is that she had the energy to play and do a lot of things with her kids. She created the Unlocking Your Ambition podcast for other moms to share their experiences and make a community. Advice to teen moms: Find a community! Beware of other people trying to tell you how to raise your child(ren).
