ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Elizabeth: "I am no man's Elizabeth." It's Laura Marie's half birthday! You know what that means! It's time to subject Jessica Marie to something in the historical fiction genre, and since it's been Egypt heavy this year (JUST WAIT IT'S COMING) the decision was made to explore another hyper-fixation, English Queens. Specifically with the fantastic movie Elizabeth. The plots are plotting, the romance, the betrayal, the Church! There's so much to love here and Laura Marie clearly does with the amount of gushing that's done. Jessica Marie has never seen the film which makes the conversation even more fun. Real people! Real events! History can be fun! "I will have one mistress here, and NO masters." “Why do Catholics call priests Father when the Bible clearly says, ‘call no man father’?” This episode delves into this common question while also addressing the Great Apostasy claim by Latter Day Saints, the real presence in Communion for those exploring Catholicism, and the interpretation of Catechism 841 regarding salvation. Join The CA Live Club Newsletter: Click Here Invite our apologists to speak at your parish! Visit Catholicanswersspeakers.com Questions Covered: 12:10 – How would a Catholic respond to the Latter Day Saints claim of the Great Apostasy? 19:12 – I'm Protestant and exploring Catholicism. I'm starting to believe in the real presence. Should I stop receiving Communion in my Protestant church? 32:01 – How would you respond to a claim of once saved always saved? 41:30 – Are there some principles to applying scripture to our lives? It seems like I'm getting signs from God in these verses that come to me and I read. 50:15 – CCC 841 seems to imply that Muslims are included in the plan of salvation. I don't believe they worship the same God. How do we interpret that Catechism paragraph?

No Man's Sky, MMOs, V Rising, HP Hogwarts Battle, The Quick and the Dead
The start of World War I featured officers in white gloves, leading troops in neat lines, and cavalry charges complete with sabres and lances. But this changed on 15th September, 1914 - when soldiers began digging into the earth, laying the groundwork for the trench warfare that would come to define the conflict. By that November, trenches covered 400 miles along the Western Front, in two opposing lines that were often as close as 50 metres, with "No Man's Land" in between—a deadly strip of land covered in barbed wire. Soldiers lived in constant fear of artillery, sniper fire, and brutal night raids. The trenches were muddy, disease-ridden, and teeming with rats and lice. Arion, Rebecca and Olly consider the physical and psychological toll of trench life; explain how flamethrowers, ‘trench clubs' and even helmets all became more popular over the course of the conflict; and discover that the process of rotation meant soldiers were in the trenches only for short bursts, yet long enough to leave lasting trauma… Further Reading: • ‘First trenches are dug on the Western Front | September 15, 1914' (HISTORY, 2009): https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/first-trenches-are-dug-on-the-western-front • 'Trench tactics: how was war fought in the WW1 trenches?' We're kicking off Season 14 with a legend. George Takei joins The Trek Files to reflect on landing the role of Sulu in Star Trek's second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before”—filmed 60 years ago in July 1965. With humor and honesty, George recalls the early days on set at Desilu's Culver Studios, working alongside James Doohan, and navigating the challenges of being a closeted gay actor in 1960s Hollywood. In a wide-ranging and heartfelt conversation, George also shares his early talks with Gene Roddenberry about Star Trek's inclusive vision—and what it meant to see that future taking shape on screen, even in its earliest days.

007 First Light had it's first gameplay reveal. This is the new Bond game from IO Interactive, the creators of Hitman. It's looking good in some areas and not so much in others. How will it turn out when it releases next year?Brett revisits some older games. He dives back into No Man's Sky Voyagers update with the new build-your-own Corvette's. It's an awesome update and No Man's Sky is a technical marvel, but it's daunting and Brett keeps realizing that every time he jumps back in.Brett also went to see The Witcher in Concert and that brought him into The Witcher 3. He may have also convinced everyone else to jump back into it. The Witcher 3 came out 10 years ago and it surprisingly still holds up!We also finished Mafia The Old Country and take a look back at the Mafia games of the past and what they could do in the future. We were a little let down by the overall package provided in The Old Country and Mafia 3 and 2 definitely showed us they can make amazing stories with fun gameplay.Lastly, we're 10 years old! We're kicking off Season 14 with a legend.

In the mud and chaos of the First World War, soldiers knew the trenches held every kind of danger. But sometimes, the worst terrors aren't the ones wearing another army's uniform. In this week's episode of Drew Blood's Dark Tales, we present Jack Finn's chilling story “No Man's Land.” Step into the cratered wastelands of Flanders, where a handful of weary men find themselves cut off, surrounded by shadows that refuse to stay still. As night falls and the fog begins to stir, they'll discover that survival may demand more than grit and gunpowder—it may require facing horrors no human was ever meant to see. As the clock ticks down toward the looming release of Hollow Knight Silksong, we say goodbye to a bygone era. Strangely enough, that era ends with us revisiting three established franchises with vastly different approaches to modernization. Nick and Chris Davis talk about the impressive - but slightly unambitious - remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Brad delves into Shinobi: Art of Vengeance which has reinvented the franchise with a shift of genre and a beautiful new coat of paint. Meanwhile, Krispy declares No Man's Sky: Voyagers to be the ultimate expansion which softens the barrier-to-entry and out Starfield's Starfield. Kids back in school, dads back in space. This week on New Dad Gaming, Trevor and Jeff swap school drop-off war stories, crack seasonal beers, dive into No Man's Sky “Voyagers” (ship interiors! group missions! biomes!), pine for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and—dad confession—Trevor actually buys a Fortnite skin. If you're a gaming parent balancing family life with your backlog, you're in the right place.
President Trump's spectacular success in decimating the crime rate in Washington DC was one thing: that city exists in a No Man's Land where the justification for federal intervention seemed clear-cut. But bypassing both city and state governments to bring the same peace and rule of law to what Lincoln called “that awful wicked city of Chicago” definitely raises the stakes. Is it worth the gamble?
Gamescom brought big World of Warcraft reveals: the new housing system with public, charter, and guild neighborhoods (50 homes each, customizable biomes, permissions, and community events), plus new solo content like Prey hunts and ongoing Delves. Blizzard is also integrating add-on features directly into the UI (boss timers, nameplates, DPS meters), raising questions for Deadly Boss Mods and others. Bobby is here to help us make sense of it all. Also we have a LOT to say about the No Man's Sky's Voyager update—building Corvettes, exploring derelict ships, taming bizarre pets, farming nanites, managing settlements, and enjoying the endless systems, bugs and all. New leaks from friend-of-the-show MLiD have given us a deeper glimpse into Sony's plans for PlayStation 6, especially when it comes to the rumored handheld iteration, codenamed Canis. It appears this device -- slated as part of a potential trio of PS6 hardware due out in '27 -- will be affordable, powerful, and perhaps most surprisingly dockable. With all first party competitors now occupying space (Nintendo, Valve) or chasing a presence (Sony, Microsoft) in the handheld realm, it seems like things could get very spicy on multiple fronts. Allow us to discuss in minute detail. Plus: Hermen Hulst gives a rare interview, Ken Levine emerges with hot-off-the-presses details about Judas, Sony reveals its first four incubated products in the MENA Hero Project, it'll now be easier to request a refund on PSN, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Some 14 years after release, what are our thoughts on Catherine? Could a major Xbox announcement be lurking in Sony's reported September showcase? How does Hello Games and No Man's Sky survive by giving so much away for free? Is Where's Waldo nothing more than an unconvincing psy-op?
