In this heartfelt episode of Nothing But Fine, Emily Trotter shares an unfiltered stream of thoughts about heaven, hope, and what it really means to say, “Come, Jesus, come.” Reflecting on CeCe Winans' powerful song and her own faith journey, Emily explores how our earthly need for justice and understanding fades in the light of eternity. With warmth, honesty, and wisdom, she reminds listeners that when we finally see Jesus face to face, all hurt and bitterness will melt away—replaced by peace, joy, and the ultimate embrace of love. Throughout the planning for this episode, we jokingly used the term "Electro-Bangers," with credit to panelist Rob White, knowing full well we wouldn't use it in the end. But then we figured... why not? This episode is full of excellent electronic music and they are all bangers, so there you have it. Some are from places you'd expect like Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Stellar Blade, and Shin Megami Tensei V, but others may surprise you!We were also supposed to encourage you to revisit Rhythm Encounter 119 - RPG Dance Party, but since we all got too invested in today's picks, consider THIS your reminder to listen to that episode as a followup. Chris immediately starts asking questions he shouldn't be. What are we Joe Rogan? Then we double down with getting into NYC politics. What the hell are we doing? Speaking of stupid entities, how about the ESPNBet, huh? Chris has a movie trivia for Kris, which he kinda aces it. Chris has a theory about sports teams. Kris also has a couple random thoughts before they make their week 10 picks.
There has been a lot of talk about the rapture happening these days. I always knew that there was debate about when it would take place. Meaning, whether it would be before or during or after the period of tribulation the book of Revelation speaks about. I vote for the before tribulation option. I did not know until recently that there are lots of believers that don't believe in any kind of rapture happening. To each his own, I guess. Honestly, it doesn't matter what any scholar or theologian or guru or preacher or professor says because they don't know any better than you or me. Only God knows the day and the hour. Jesus says in Matthew 24:36 that even he does not know.Continue reading the rest of this shows notes on our website Nothin' But Fine.Subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can watch this week's episode and catch up on past episodes! Stub Me Down wraps up their time as the official podcast of Oktoberfest at The Vortex with episode 2 of season 7. Chatting with each of the bands on the bill was incredible, and catching up with Jeremy Kaplan and Sam Lucid from the headlining act, Dogs in a Pile, was no different. Jeremy and Sam talked about the impact of touring on their music, playing shows vs. recording albums, and how each band member contributes to the collective sound. A special day wraps up with a great conversation with a formidable band on the rise! Nothin' left to do but smile smile smile! Thanks to Jeremy, Sam, and the rest of Dogs in a Pile! Special thanks also to Dennis Barth, Tanner Jones, and everyone at Sunrider 9 Productions and The Vortex! Thanks for listening!
God says you are beloved, chosen, known, and a saint. The world says none of that. The world says if you feel weird or sad you must be wrong inside. Get skinny. Plump up. Lift this. Erase that. Like boys. Like girls. Be a boy. Be a girl. My suspicion is that if you do all or some…at least one because we all have done something to be different, you still won't fix what ails you. I've lost 55 pounds. I've had trainers and instructors. I want to grow my followers and subscribers and have hired coaches and managers. I have been to retreats and conferences and zooms. Guess what? I still feel fat and I am not famous.I recently listened to a podcast episode of With the Perrys that talked about gender identity. Their guest pointed out that people just want to belong. Is that what our struggle is? To belong? To be seen? Do we just listen to the first group that does that? I think a lot of the time, yes. Because isn't that what we want? To just be seen and known.Continue reading the rest of this shows notes on our website Nothin' But Fine.Subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can watch this week's episode and catch up on past episodes! ---Check out the Nothin' But Fine blog and website.Follow us on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter YouTube Want everything in your inbox? “Money was a divine essence that could embody itself in any concrete manifestation…Because that's what money is: all things. Or at least it can become all things. It's the universal commodity by which we measure all other commodities.” Hernan Diaz, Trust Having money is not evil or sinful. But money is money and should be remembered as such and treated accordingly. It isn't the meaning of life or purpose of life. What a depressing focus to have. If that is your driving force, oh the disappointment you will face. You will never be fulfilled, never satisfied. Like being thirsty and never being quenched.Continue reading the rest of this shows notes on our website Nothin' But Fine.Subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can watch this week's episode and catch up on past episodes! ---Check out the Nothin' But Fine blog and website.Follow us on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter YouTube Want everything in your inbox? Doug is single handedly keeping network TV afloat.(14:54-26:06) Will Ben Folds Five be suing Akoostic Sessions? Empty calories down on The Plains. Billy Napier won but still got canned. James watched the game at home alone in his basement on Saturday. Does 10-2 get you in? When's the last time LSU lost a night game at home? James won't be heading to Nashville. Doesn't sound like Jackson's gonna be going either.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The world is a mess and we all have so many problems does God regret making us? I always have said that God does not make mistakes…but does he? First Samuel 15:11 says, “I regret that I have made Saul king”. Does that mean what I think it means? And if he regretted Saul becoming king, anointing him, then why not just fix it? If anyone could push the rewind button it is God. So, I called my pastor, the Reverend Dr. Shane Green to hash things out. This is a great conversation.Subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can watch this week's episode and catch up on past episodes! ---Check out the Nothin' But Fine blog and website.Follow us on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter YouTube Want everything in your inbox? Every time I try so hard I get nothin' and at this point I don't f***ing care anymore. At least, that's how we're interpreting the song "Nothin'" from the album Turn the Radio Off. And who are we interpreting this song with? Jesse (The OC Scholars, The Goodwin Club, Blu Aux, Teen Heroes) and we've got a lot to say about nothing.

Send us a textTyler Ballantyne has always loved music, but he didn't start playing seriously until his college years. Around that time, he became obsessed with Dave Matthews, particularly his right hand—the way he played rhythm guitar.Ballentyne bought a guitar, and he says that at the time, he learned about half of one of Matthews' songs and otherwise strummed it to play songs like “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Ring of Fire.”Once he arrived in Colorado, he fell in love with bluegrass and folk.A few months into the COVID pandemic, he decided to take guitar more seriously, inspired by acts such as The Grateful Dead, Phish, and Billy Strings. He bought a Martin D-18 and signed up to take lessons from Bryan Sutton. Thank you for listening to The Mountain-Ear Podcast, featuring news and culture from peak to peak! Christone "Kingfish" Ingram has been steeped in the Blues since he was eight years old, when he visited the Delta Blues Museum as a student in Clarksdale, Mississippi (Jackson Advocate). He played drums, bass, and GUITAR and was recognized at a young age for his exceptional musical talent with his debut album Kingfish, in 2019 on Alligator Records. Since then he's released two more albums, won a Grammy and a shelfful of Blues Music Awards, and he's still just 26. His raw and inspired guitar playing, soulful vocals and mature songwriting, bandleading, mentoring younger musicians, and starting his own record label have led Christone “Kingfish” Ingram to be “the face of a new generation of blues artists” (Fender). Christone "Kingfish" Ingram and his band play songs from the new album, called Hard Road, in-studio. Set list: 1. Voodoo Charm 2. Bad Like Me 3. Nothin' But Your Love
This week, the Dem Vinyl Boyz throw on the leather pants, tease up the hair, and turn the glam all the way up as we drop the needle on Poison’s multi-platinum party record Open Up and Say... Ahh! Released in 1988, this was the album that catapulted Poison from Sunset Strip heroes to global rock gods. Produced by Bruce Fairbairn (who also worked with Bon Jovi and Aerosmith), the album is packed with arena-shaking anthems, glittery glam hooks, and power ballads that defined the late '80s. From the sleazy swagger of “Nothin’ But a Good Time” to the tearjerking heartache of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” this LP is a crash course in glam metal glory. We talk about the album’s massive success (over 8 million copies sold), the MTV-fueled rise of Bret Michaels and crew, and how Poison both embodied and exploded the glam rock scene of the era. We also dive into the album’s infamous original cover art controversy and the evolution of their sound that balanced pop appeal with hard rock riffs. So plug in your Aqua Net and hop aboard the glam train—we’re revisiting the wild ride that was Poison’s Open Up and Say... Ahh!

As a believer all I can do is introduce Jesus. I can only tell the facts: born, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, rose again. What people do with that information is up to them. Jacob wrestling God in Genesis 32:22-31 has got me asking myself some real questions. Does my “faith” get in the way of claiming or asking for a blessing? What can I learn from Jacob? Demanding a blessing from God seems…disrespectful and rude. This story clearly says that God doesn't mind. Also, might kind of enjoy. I know that God could have ended the wrestling match at any time. He could have moved Jacob and detached him from him. I picture Jacob wrapping his arms and legs around God's leg as God tries to walk away. Like a kid to an adult. But God stays in the fight and doesn't get angry when Jacob says he will stop when he gets his blessing. He does the opposite. He gives the blessing. Law firm fires lawyer over Kirk comments and law school announces new scholarships. ----- Perkins Coie cut ties with an attorney over Charlie Kirk comments on social media. The remarks were measured and reasonable, but the firm is still fighting the Trump administration in court and -- seemingly -- does not want any distractions or mere appearance of bias. But is that a worthy excuse? A Pillsbury partner received a benchslapping over what the judge considered unchecked entitlement. A Biglaw partner? Entitled? No! Also, a law school responds to the new federal loan caps with guaranteed scholarships to cover the gap. Is this the start of a trend?
Gratitude is recognizing that we have not done everything for ourselves, but we depend on others and need to appreciate them for what they do for us.C.S. Lewis Institute Am I expressing genuine gratitude for what I have given? Do I feel I have what I have because I deserve it? Am I entitled to it? Or worse, do I think I did myself? Does my faith feel stagnant because I have not properly, sincerely thanked the Lord for what he has done in my life?Continue reading the rest of this shows notes on our website Nothin' But Fine.Subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can watch this week's episode and catch up on past episodes! ---Check out the Nothin' But Fine blog and website.Follow us on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter YouTube Want everything in your inbox? Tobin starts the final hour with an infamous edition of Could be Somthin, Could be Nothin as he tries to convince everyone that Kel'el Ware is swole. The gang is not buying it… and it is just two segments of photo comparisons and silly sauce. We finish up the show with our favorite Tuesday game of Damage is Done, Canes, McDaniel, and Cormani McClain.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could always trust what people say to you? What happened to the sentiment that you are only as good as your word? Can you be trusted? They utter mere words; with empty oaths they make covenants; so judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the fields. Hosea 10:4This passage from Hosea is interesting. Israel has strayed from the Lord. They've gotten too comfortable. A symptom, or a side effect I should say, of the complacency and faithlessness/disregard to the Lord is that their words no longer mean anything. They are taking credit for all their good fortune. Not only that, but they are also thanking and building altars to other gods. This is a real slippery slope. One of those situations that starts as a small snowball but ends up being as big as an elephant careening down a mountain taking out everything in its path. Moses warned of this way back in Deuteronomy. (8:11-20) He told the Israelites to not forget what God had done for them. Forgetting the lessons from the wilderness opens the door to pride. When you forget you allow room for the false idea that maybe it was you that did it all. You made it by your own strength and intelligence. You are a great problem solver. You are independent. Look what you did!
