Growing up in California, he wanted to be like his favorite Raider's player, Howie Long. Coincidentally, Travis Kirschke paralleled Howie's NFL position (defensive end) and longevity in the league (13 years). Howie stayed with the same team and won one Super Bowl. Travis made 3 stops in the NFL, with the final one providing him two Super Bowl rings. Travis was a standout high school player in The Golden State, earning a California Player of the Year Award and the Glenn Davis Award for the best high school player in the Los Angeles area. His career at UCLA wasn't nearly as illustrious as he endured a few coaching changes and injuries. The result was being undrafted in 1997. He stuck with his goal, however, and got on with the Detroit Lions where he became a starter his 3rd year and stayed for 6 seasons. From there he moved on (by choice) to the 49'ers and had one of his best seasons, starting nearly every game and racking up 43 tackles. After San Fransisco, he was courted by the Saints and Steelers and felt Pittsburgh was the best fit. Smart move. Travis helped build a solid defense with names like Polamalu and Porter and won two Super Bowls. After 13 seasons, Travis knew his time had come. He had moved to Colorado during his NFL career with his wife and three kids and returned there to start the next chapter. In retirement, he has stayed busy as an assistant football coach at Valor High School and being dad to three athletes. Currently his two youngest sons are college student athletes with Gabe playing football at Colorado State and Blake playing lacrosse at the University of Denver.

Hour 2: BREAKING NEWS: The Seahawks are moving on from Pete Carroll. The guys talked about what could have been behind this. Carroll won a Super Bowl and went to another in 14 seasons there. We also tied this back to Mike Tomlin, just days after rumors started stating Tomlin could walk away from football after this season. Are we going to see a Tomlin extension soon? If the season ends on Sunday, what does the future look like for Tomlin? Could Art Rooney step in and make a strong recommendation on the Steelers next offensive coordinator? The guys still think candidates with a tie to Pittsburgh have an advantage in that process. Poni said Tomlin stepping away from football would shock the world. Does Tomlin think the Mason Rudolph bubble is about to burst? Troy Polamalu did a rare interview and said he cannot picture the Steelers without Mike Tomlin. Poni chalked that up to Troy not being able to say a bad thing about anyone. Can the Steelers pull off the upset this weekend in Buffalo in what the guys think would be Tomlin's best playoff win? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. The guys asked Mike about the Mike Tomlin rumors that a few of the national pundits put out there this past weekend saying Tomlin could step away from football after the season. Mike gave his take on why we have heard very faint praise of Mason Rudolph so far for what he's done. Mike thinks Rudolph could have a play in the Steelers QB1 search next season, but he thinks the team will have options, including going back to Kenny Pickett. He thinks Rudolph will have to do even more to build up a true market in the off-season. The guys asked Mike about the future of NFL playoff games on streaming services, like the one airing on Peacock exclusively Saturday night.

Brian talked about the Steelers offensive line. He says that most players will make a jump from year one to year two. He said you'll learn a lot about the coaching staff. "20 million dollars a year for A receiver seems like a high number." Baldy thinks that that Minkah is the best free safety in the NFL. He thinks that Mitch Trubisky needs to prove that he can make reads at the NFL level. He thinks he could be Ryan Tannehill if he can have a good year this season. Baldy said that Polamalu could take liberties because he had Ryan Clark playing with him. He also thinks Minkah could be a "green dot guy." He was traded for on a Tuesday and started on Sunday.
It's hot as hell in the studio. Colin is going sleeveless. Josh Taylor is moist. Crowley's studio is cool and comfy. Crowley saw a dude dressed in full pads with Polamalu jersey walking around the strip.
