DRAGONS IN THE CLOUDS by David Blair Dragons in the Clouds is an epic adventure that takes place during a time period when Dragons were alive and freely roamed the land. The people during this time were getting eaten by a vicious species of Dragons. The ruling King finally orders the total annihilation of all living dragons. A powerful wizard, named Merlinius, who is a friend to the king, does not agree with the King's order, for Merlinius knows all Dragons are not what they seem. So he does what he must to protect a family of Dragons that he had befriended. And to protect his Dragon friends, Merlinius performs the spell of weightlessness and tells the Dragons to fly up and to hide in the cover of the Clouds. He then gives the Dragons strict instruction to live within the clouds and to only come down at night to eat. An apprentice to the wizard who has grandeur of his own has a plan for Dragons that he has hidden deep within a mountain cavern. Now enters a young boy, who had also befriended a dragon, though a very young one, suddenly find themselves caught between the Kings order and a battle that has begun between two species of Dragons. A battle that would determine control of the skies above the Kingdom of Albian. This Apprentice's plan has consequences that may bring the Kingdom and perhaps the very world we live in today to an devastating end. Rod Sterling is a big influence on my writing. His television show “The Twilight Zone” captured my imagination. Also, Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, to this day, has a place in my heart. And Dean Koontz’s books are fabulous. Gotta love them. I have also worked on a CGI film named "Dwegons and Leprechauns. A feature length film that went straight to video. One of the best experiences of my life. https://www.amazon.com/-/es/David-Blair-ebook/dp/B08QDTXXWK/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&ie=UTF8&keywords=%E2%80%9CDragons%20In%20The%20Clouds%E2%80%9D%20by%20David%20Blair&language=en_US&qid=1612820238&s=digital-text&sr=1-1 www.AuthorReputationPress.com https://dragonsintheclouds.com/ http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/davblairarp.mp3
In his follow-up to the acclaimed debut feature film, The Giant, Johannes Nyholm’s Koko-Di Koko-Da recounts the story of Elin and Tobias, a happily married couple who regularly vacation with their young daughter. The family is on a dreamy holiday when an innocuous case of food poisoning derails their plans and forever alters the course of their lives.Three years later, the once loving couple is on the road again to go camping, looking for one last chance to go back to the way things used to be. But what once was is lost, and our characters instead find themselves having to relive the same nightmarish events, as that day and the horrors it brings repeat themselves infinitely. Together, they must overcome their trauma, reconcile with their past and fight for their lives. Over, and over, and over again. Discerned through a dreamlike fabric, a story emerges about relationships in general, grief and reconciliation in particular, and love as a healing force. Director Johannes Nyholm stops by to talk about the mind-bending, Federico Fellini meets Rod Sterling mise-en-scène inhabiting this profoundly passive-aggressive tale of trauma, loss and truly terrible camping strategies. On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we talk about the life, awards, career, and films (lord, how many films!) of Steven Spielberg. And buckle up folks, this episode is a record-setting two hours long! With his very first movies being Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders of the Lost Arc, and ET, you can see that this man was destined for greatness in Hollywood. Many of the stars and producers who met this young 20 something genius back in the 60s said the same thing. He was the youngest director to ever get a directing contract with a major studio (just 21 years old at the time), and he has won countless awards. His films have made over $10 billion dollars total, and I’d bet good money that if you sat down and made a top ten list of your favorite films, at least one of his is on your list. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a concert pianist and a computer engineer, and though he moved around a lot, he had a love of film even at a young age. He won a merit badge in the Boy Scouts for a short film he directed (to get his still photograph badge). He started making films as a teen with an 8MM camera, and some of them even started to win local awards and make a tiny bit of money at the box office (well, a dollar, actually). After graduating high school, he moved to LA and tried to get into USC (along with film legends like George Lucas), but he was denied due to low grades. He got in to a different school, but ultimately dropped out because he was starting to get work. He started with an unpaid editing internship at Universal, and the gave him a chance to use their equipment to make a short film. He made Amblin’ (which his production company is called to this day), and it impressed studio execs enough to give him a contract directing TV episodes. In short order, this led to him impressing the likes of Rod Sterling and others. They gave him a chance at a first big budget film, a little thing about a shark. Jaws redefined what a block buster meant, and he followed it up with Close Encounters. If you look at the film list of Spielberg, it will astound you. It’s like every four or five films are what a typical director would be known for in their entire career. But then, there is another and another, and most of them are masterpieces. From Saving Private Ryan to Ready Player One, Amistad to Schindler’s List, and rounding it all out with Jurassic Park, his genius and ability to tell stories has not diminished. If you like film, then give this one a listen. If you don’t, then in the words of Conan the Barbarian: “The hell with you!” Visit Our Sources: https://www.biography.com/filmmaker/steven-spielberg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Spielberg https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/ https://www.forbes.com/profile/steven-spielberg/#b58d2c3228a7 https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/steven_spielberg https://time.com/43618/george-lucas-steven-spielberg-star-wars-bet/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firelight_(1964_film)
The Twilight Zone Season Two Gains Some Thematic Clarity Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone premiered on CBS All Access last year. The showrunner's track record had expectation set high. Too high. The series struggled to find its identity and footing in a world where Black Mirror reigns supreme and many of the more subtle aspects of Rod Sterling's show have been forgotten in syndication. But Season Two corrected more than a few of the show's missteps. The largest among them by releasing the entire series in one fell swoop. Leaving it up to audiences to set their consumption pace allows for more room for episodes that feel less than fully cooked. This decision allowed for a more natural ebb and flow particularly as it swiftly becomes clear this season, again, has some episodes that carry its theme somewhat better than others. It's clear that Peele is intent on revitalizing more than rebooting The Twilight Zone and reconnect it to its anthology roots. Season Two is not without it's hiccups but between the (once again) top shelf talent, better visualization of its themes and commentary it's a definite improvement. There's more show than tell. More metaphorical staying power. And less rush to make the story land. This time, there's more obvious faith in the narratives being baked in (and in the audience). Ro, Parish, and HiroJa got together to review Season Two and all agree it's a vast improvement on first season. Listen as they discuss its clearer overall theme for the season, standout performances and episodes, writing, storytelling, and direction. We all look forward to the third season when it comes out in 2052. Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode! Today I am talking about Zora Neale Hurston’s short story, “Black Death”. This story can be found in “The Complete Stories” and “Hitting a Straight Lick With a Crooked Stick.” I believe that Zora wrote it in 1925. Now almost 100 years later, we can discover and enjoy these stories. In this story, Hurston uses her knowledge of black folklore and black tales of the supernatural, to tell a story of obtaining justice for a broken heart. This story could easily have been an episode Rod Sterling’s Night Gallery or the Twilight Zone. The antagonist of this story has a name that everyone will find familiar. I will not tell you so you can be surprised like I was. I do wonder about the name’s history and did the entertainer who used it, get the name from the folklore and literature of the time. This story is listed as one of the seven unpublished stories in “The Complete Stories” collection. I think that is a shame because I really like the way this story flowed. One thing I have noticed during this process is the way Hurston paints a picture of the way women are treated. The needs of the women are ignored or openly rejected. Hurston weaves this treatment into her stories narratives, so it is apparent and a part of the world her characters live in. This is terribly similar to the way things are in real life. One key thing I get from this story is the respect Hurston has for the black people in her story. She shows this by the respect she gives the beliefs of the people even when it is something that the white population would laugh at. This is a good read and for fans of supernatural stories, this is a story you will want to read. https://www.ifoundthisgreatbook.com/reading-zora-neale-hurstons-short-stories/

Watch The Twilight Zone episode, "The Obsolete Man" when you can. You might think this episode is futuristic. It is actually constructed from history, warning us that our future may be doomed to look like this if we fail to learn from history. I can see the latency of its arrival. Serling's words here are incredibly prophetic and wise.
