In this episode, Jessica makes Natasha watch Daybreak, a Netflix apocalypse show that is scary-similar to The Last Kids on Earth. (We're talking the same zombie-survival town map, the same gathering our friends vibe, and the same monsters and zombies in one apocalypse theme.) Listen as we discuss Sam Dean the Supernatural-themed John Green protagonist, our flashback king Josh, and Angelica the bomb girl. Natasha comes up with some wild fanfic that I personally vote we force them to write, as it would be a very fun apocalypse story to read. And then I try to come up with any answers at all for our usual questions given that I remember extremely little about this show. Will Natasha survive the apocalypse? Or will she lose jock idol and be thrown to the zombies? You'll have to listen to find out.Follow Natasha at twitter.com/natashadamours Follow Jessica at twitter.com/jessicairowe Email us at episodeepiphanies@gmail.com, tweet at us @epiphaniespod, and follow us on Insta @epiphaniespod Intro and outro music is Feelin Good by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Rob Jones is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and the Daily Telegraph's Sam Dean to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We start by talking about Arsenal, and Sam believes the fans have lost hope in their title bid, and that Merino as a false nine was unsustainable. Darren argues that the defining moment in Arsenal's season was a failure to sign a striker in the January window.Next to Manchester United, after their 2-2 draw at Goodison; Sam suggests Everton should have had a penalty in the final moments, as the referee wasn't shown the most incriminating angles and the incident wasn't ‘clear and obvious' to be overruled. Meanwhile, United's rivals Liverpool look for their twentieth league title and Jamie Redknapp sits down with Arne Slot to talk about the challenge of competing in both the Premier League and Champions League, and the surprise of City's fall. And finally, Sam criticises Chelsea's model, and after a third loss in four Premier league games yesterday at Villa Park, Darren questions the level of Chelsea's two available goalkeepers.
Join Krissy and Nate as they tackle Supernatural's Season 9 Episode 15 "#THINMAN," where the infamous Ghost Facers make their final appearance in the series. This monster-of-the-week episode takes a dark turn when what seems like a supernatural entity turns out to be something far more sinister – human killers exploiting internet folklore. The episode follows Sam and Dean investigating a mysterious death where a teenage girl is killed after capturing a creepy figure known as "The Thin Man" in her selfie. Their investigation leads them to cross paths with Ed and Harry of the Ghost Facers, who are desperately trying to prove the Thin Man's existence. As tensions rise between the Winchester brothers over past betrayals, a parallel story unfolds as Ed's own betrayal of Harry comes to light. The true horror of the episode emerges when the Thin Man is revealed to be two local men – a deputy and a waiter – who are killing people for revenge and internet fame. In a poignant conclusion, Harry leaves the Ghost Facers behind after learning of Ed's manipulation, marking the end of an era for these beloved recurring characters.Other topics covered:The hosts' drinking game rules, including taking drinks for Ghost Facers mentions, pop culture references, and every time someone says "Thin Man"A record-breaking 43 mentions of "Thin Man" throughout the episodeThe real-world location of Springdale, Washington, and its connection to the episode's settingSam and Dean's touching childhood memory about jumping off a shed dressed as Batman and SupermanDiscussion of the episode's commentary on internet fame and viral contentThe parallel relationship struggles between Sam/Dean and Ed/HarryA breakdown of the various supernatural creatures initially suspected before revealing human killerWhether you're a long-time Supernatural fan or just love a good drinking game podcast, this episode delivers plenty of laughs, scares, and surprisingly emotional moments as we bid farewell to the Ghost Facers team. Air New Zealand is ditching its carbon intensity reduction targets and will withdraw from the Science Based Targets initiative. It planned to cut carbon intensity 28.9 percent by 2030 - but blamed a lack of fuel-efficient planes and the costs of alternative fuel for this shift in priorities. Patricia Highsmith's novel The Talented Mr. Ripley follows a young man named Tom, whose deep-seated jealousy and ambition leads him down a very dark path. He wants the jet-set lifestyle his trust-fund friends are living, and he sets out to get it using his intelligence and skill at deception. Tom Ripley is a pretty realistic depiction of a psychopath. To get close to the wealthy people he envies, he puts on a convincing mask of helpful friendliness. But underneath, he's scheming with every breath—biding his time. And no one is safe around him. Join us for the story of a real-life Mr. Ripley, a man who was good at being charming, but bad at being good. A man who left one person dead, one heartbroken and defrauded, and a pretty little town in shock. While Manchester City and Liverpool were giving Arsenal a taste of what they are chasing this season and Manchester United and Chelsea played out a turgid 1-1 draw, Mikel Arteta's side have been preparing for a tough trip to West Ham. With the international break taking the players away from the Emirates Stadium, we've decided to focus our third Arsenal Beat special of the season on a man who has instigated the change in fortunes in recent weeks and months. This is a special about Martin Odegaard, and Ode to Martin, if you will... Arilas Oulda Saada, football journalist for Norweigan channel TV2, Spanish correspondent for AFP Tom Allnutt, The Telegraph's Sam Dean and Mark Mann-Bryans from PA Media are your guides - and we also hear a few words from the man himself, taken from an exclusive sit down interview Mark had with Odegaard at Arsenal's training ground at the start of March. The panel discuss his arrival as a teenager, more like Messi and Zidane than Hangeland and Carew, a trial tour of Europe, a trophy player, growing pains in Madrid, upsetting the apple cart, a Perez PR stunt, no time to shine, missing out to Modric, success at Sociedad, captaining his country, a Dutch master, running his arse off, self-belief, Mystic Sam Dean, catching Covid, winning over Arsenal fans, nerding out with Arteta and finally finding his home at Arsenal. Please remember to rate and review The Arsenal Beat and you can catch our weekly preview & review shows, as well as all of our past and future specials, by subscribing via your preferred podcast provider.
Another victory on Sunday saw Leicester become the latest side to be steam-rollered by Mikel Arteta's top four bandwagon, but could the wheels come off when they host title-chasing Liverpool on Wednesday? Mark is joined by the Telegraph's Sam Dean and Molly Hudson from the Times to look back on the Leicester success, who stood out, the change in atmosphere around the club and why Granit Xhaka being a square peg could be bad for the Switzerland captain. The trio also preview the visit of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, is there such thing as a free hit, does this result matter in the grand scheme of the top-four race and could a heavy loss dent recent morale? Molly is then put to the test in the long-awaited return of the Arsenal Beat Quiz. Please remember to rate and review the Arsenal Beat.
