Today's episode is a conversation I think is so important to hear because it features Sarah Donner, a brilliant woman who started as a fashion model and is now a hypnotherapist and health coach. She started modelling when she was just 14 years old and while going through teenage body changes, had her whole self-worth focused on a career about her body and what size she was. It was when Sarah transitioned into start-up companies and the tech world that she learned there was so much more to her than her body. Sarah's story and the work she does now are just so inspiring and really drive home the fact that we all think if we were thinner, with model bodies, we'd have more confidence or opportunities. But I think Sarah's story kind of disproves that idea.Sarah speaks frankly about the dark cycle of tying our self-worth to our body size and looks. She explains the struggle to find an identity outside of her looks and the intense imposter syndrome she experienced, and still does, in other careers. We can all identify with that, really, or certainly I can. One of the exciting things about Sarah's journey is her work in hypnotherapy now. Hypnotherapy is not the same thing as hypnosis acts in Vegas or on TV, the two get confused, but it is a tool used to bypass the conscious critical mind which makes us more receptive to new ideas and realizations. Hypnotherapy can be a very useful tool in finding what lies at the root of self-worth or food issues. Like myself, Sarah focuses a lot on coaching toward intuitive eating. Hypnotherapy can help get to the truth of our struggle so that we are free to pursue intuitive eating because unless we can connect with our bodies, we can't hear the signals intuitive eating requires. This conversation with Sarah is so important and I'm really glad you're here listening to it now.About Sarah Donner:Founder of Siva Wellness, Sarah grew up in Germany and started her career in fashion, which allowed me to travel the world at a young age. After finishing her degree in New York City, Sarah pivoted into the start-up world and lived between New York and Europe. She had the privilege to work in some terrific tech startups and is the founding member of an AI-backed beauty company called 2250. Sarah is grateful for her past work experiences but needless to say, living that fast-paced life without the right tools in place left its mark on her and she ended up feeling mentally and physically depleted. She suffered from imposter syndrome and anxiety and was constantly battling all sorts of ailments that traditional medicine could not help her with. That is why she started to look for alternative methods to heal herself, and the journey and results have been remarkable. After receiving her license as a Holistic Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York and her Hypnotherapy License from the Center of  Integrative Hypnosis, she studied Transpersonal Hypnotherapy with Allison Axinn in Tuscany, Italy. Sarah decided to turn her passion into her career and Siva was born. Siva is for everyone that is ready to implement change with a long lasting effect and without any of the side effects.__Learn more about Sarah Donner:Website: siva-wellness.comInstagramLearn more about Dr. Michelle Tubman and Wayza Health:Website: www.wayzahealth.comFollow me on Facebook and Instagram

Joshua Ohmer: Most famous has to be Danny Boy, although it's not a favorite of mine. Then I'd say Whiskey in the Jar, Molly Malone... And if we can dip into modern Irish music, I'd say that The Cranberries' Zombie and probably something from U2, like Sunday Bloody Sunday should qualify as particularly famous Irish songs. Janine Rinker: That's tough. I've only learned a few... Molly Mallone, Paddy Works on the Railway, a verse-ish of Danny Boy. I'd probably go with The Wild Rover and Whiskey in the Jar as the last two. I'd occasionally hear "They Kept the Pig in the Parlor" from my dad's family, but have to say that's an anti-Irish song. Allan Marcotte: The Wild Colonial Boy, Bold Fenian Men, Whiskey in the Jar, Rising of the Moon and Brennan on the Moor Matt Hughes: Wild Rover, Black Velvet Band, Whiskey in the Jar, Finnegan's Wake and Molly Malone > Celtfather Photo Series Allan Marcotte Celia Garland Janine Rinker Jenn Wallace

Bonus Song Thursday! Sarah Donner (singer/songwriter/creative type) is back! And, wait a minute, aren't we supposed to be bonusing (that's a word, right?) Regina Spektor? Well, she makes a special guest appearance on this Ben Folds song off his 2008 album Way To Normal. We talk about recording in bathrooms, the secret to successful marriages, and traveling to the Waffle House that's over an hour from your home on a beautiful Sunday morning. Brian also does a great impression of his significant other (if she were a gargoyle). Check it all out as we discuss this great song from Ben Folds and Regina Spektor!

Singer, songwriter, cat enthusiest, creative type Sarah Donner (sarahdonner.com) joins Bill and Brian on the podcast to talk about Regina Spektor's Soviet Kitsch (2004, Sire). We talk a little bit about Sarah's music and Settlers of Catan before delving into Regina Spektor's roots in the NY cafe scene. As we make our way through the album track by track, we discuss vocal inflections, dipthongs, and not playing the keyboards in our houses. In order to avoid discussing just how depressing "Chemo Limo" is, we instead invent a great new Benjamin Franklin themed cereal, Ben Crispies. This (and more) in the episode you will be listening to as you read this!

GenCon is over. As much as I love the con, boy, am I tired! I'm ready for a few days of recoup, but "days" is the wrong turn of phrase. I have today. The show whole weekend was fun, fantastic with lots of amazing people. I think it's the people I love best at this convention. They're pretty laid back. They're friendly and fun. I saw nothing but smiles all weekend, even in those grumpy mornings when folks were up after not enough sleep. It's a wonderful environment. Add on top of that some amazing people to work with like Jeannette, Tiana, Todd, LT, and good friends and musicians like Apryl Knight, the Great Luke Ski, Dan the Bard, Water Street Bridge, Il Troubadore, Mikey Mason. It's just a tremendously awesome weekend. I also enjoyed meeting Sarah Donner, who tore it up at Friday Night Live this year. I want to thank each and every person who came by and said hi. Thanks to everyone who attended my shows. And a big thanks to those who supported the arts by buying a CD. I hope you love the new albums! Today's show is sponsored by Lunarpage.
