Our show opens news of lower than expected inflation numbers. Guess the Left and the vast majority of the economic “experts” were wrong about the tariffs. We then move to Jake Tapper of CNN and grifting for his book about how everyone in the White House lied to the press about Joe Biden's health issues. This is not about bringing the knives out for Joe Biden. This is about a Legacy/mainstream media desperate to look like they are fearlessly reporting the “truth” so they can go on bashing Trump with their newfound virtue. It's all a PsyOp. To remind you of their lies, I play some bites of Jake Tapper related to Russiagate. Then we play bites from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY), Karine Jean-Pierre and President Joe Biden (D) about needing more power to close the border. On top of that, we have more news about how the Biden Labor Department cooked the books by over-inflating the new jobs numbers in 2024. Now that white farmers are being slaughtered in South Africa, President Trump has granted those who flee, refugee status. This prompted the Episcopal church to cancel it's mission to help resettle foreign refugees in the United States. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), the Democrat's Village Idiot, has a comment about educated people. Looks like the DEI rules inside the DNC may cause the ousting of DNC Vice Chair David Hogg. And, we close with one of the most important comments in today's speech by Donald Trump given in Saudi Arabia regarding the state of Iran. Our show opens with more news from China where it seems they are now blocking access to economic news. The NCBA is happy with the trade deal President Trump struck with the UK to open their markets to American beef. It was discovered billionaire Leftist Reid Hoffman secretly provided a war chest for an electronic voting machine company to wage lawfare on news outlets to keep them from discussing security flaws in their tabulators. Joe and Jill Biden were on The View and it did not go well. NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley came out on the side of no men competing in women's sports. Which leads us to a fun new game that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), the designated Village Idiot invented called, “Trans or Trump?” We get positive news that the DOGE effort to modernize the Federal governments retirement program has been officially implemented. What used to take between 3-6 months can now be completed in 3-5 days. Judge Jeanine Pirro is Trump's new nominee to be US Attorney for Washington, D.C. And, finally, it seems there is a mass exodus beginning to take shape as mass layoffs inside the Beltway are leading to people moving out of town. We open with news of some American manufactures finding themselves inundated with orders thanks to companies not wanting to do business with China while tariffs are so high. In 2017 a radical Leftist supporter of Bernie Sanders wanted to assassinated Republicans on a ball field. We are only just now finding out how botched and politicized the FBI report on the incident was. Katherine Maher, CEO of NPR, believes government needs to be out of their business. How right she is! We then illustrate throughout the rest of the show how the Left will always say whatever is politically expedient, regardless of how inconsistent it is from what they have said previously. We have another activist judge who says Trump needs to keep 12,000+ “refugees” in this country. The 5th Amendment being applied to illegals makes no sense. We then move to the Hill where DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was testifying. I only pulled three sound bites from Democrats and that's enough to test the strength of the duct tape you need to keep your head from exploding. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon discusses Harvard and the push to remove their non-taxable designation. As we start to wind down, I have a crazy invented story from Ana Navarro regarding Canada. Ironically, Trump is meeting with PM Carney today. Trump just gave us a thinly veiled answer as to who blew up the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The courts say the President controls military law and thus can fire transactivist Rachel Levine. Data Republican along with James Hartline found a financial connection between Bill “the Kickball Kid” Kristol and money from George Soros. Tyson Foods just announced they want to remove all synthetic coloring by the end of the month. Finally, we show another example of duplicity from the Village Idiot, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). We open with breaking news that both National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Deputy Advisor Alex Wong have resigned. I remind the audience about what I said when Signalgate first happened. We then dive into more topics related to immigration, deportation, conflicts of interest with judges and more. Then we show how the WSJ ran with a rumor piece, even after they were told it wasn't true. Next up, we dissect Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) who has filed seven articles of impeachment against President Trump. After making a mockery of each of them, I tell you what the real purpose is his stunt. Even members of his own party are distancing themselves from it. Data Republican found emails showing Hunter Biden was using USAID funds to channel into Burisma. Seems he was earning that monthly board salary after all. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) explains the DOGE cuts are not being codified by Congress because no one want to stop spending money. Gretchen Carlson has a hissy-fit over DOGE getting credit for IT improvements. A story of a Tesla terrorist member of the Transmafia caught my attention. I use it to illustrate the duplicity of liberal activist judges who reveal their woke ideology. In positive news, the CEO of Ford says they are in-line with Trump's tariffs and his strategy. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announces the execution of the mineral deal with Ukraine. And, finally, we get a moment of ironic joy from the Village Idiot of the House of Representatives, Rep. We open the show with Sen. Chuck “You” Schumer (D-NY) starting to run out of new material for the fearporn train. On the flip side, Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) says it's far too early to panic and she said her constituents are okay waiting a bit to see how the Trump reciprocal tariff plan starts to unfold. This morning, President Trump even said he hates the initial pain, but is happy to see so many countries lining up to negotiate fair trade deals with the United States. Then, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins had a great one-liner for CNN's Jake Tapper, while she was discussing the issues with unfair trade in the agriculture sector. Next, I take a moment to discuss how soulless some influencers are in our own country. I use a tweet by NY Time best-selling author Don Winslow as an example. I follow that up with propaganda from former White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates. If Trump is really out to hurt the little guy and give all the breaks to his billionaire buddies, why did he hurt the stock market like he did? CNN's Harry Enten reveals more interesting polling, with the overall message being that Americans see Trump taking us in a different direction and feeling like he needs more ability to accomplish his agenda. The SCOTUS just pulled the rug out from under activist D.C. District Court Judge Boasberg. Then, in another ruling a California judge had his injunction stayed as it relates to Trump's team being able to fire probationary employees. We get a sound bite from the Village Idiot, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) where she perfectly illustrates the Left's belief in the soft bigotry of low expectation. And, she did it with her fake accent, while pretending she was at a comedy club. We get a sneak peek at Ellie Cohanim, who might be on the short list to replace Elise Stefanik for UN Ambassador. She wants to “DOGE” the UN and root out their issues with antisemitism. Finally, President Trump is set to sign an Executive Order putting emphasis on keep our clean-burning coal plants going. Then I add my thoughts on the need for more new generation nuclear facilities. We open the show, dedicate the first hour to the story out of The Atlantic, with Trump-hater Jeffrey Goldberg saying he was mistakenly invited into a chat group where the Trump team was planning their strike against Houthi terrorist sites in Yemen. We discuss testimony from CIA Director John Ratcliffe, DNI Tulsi Gabbard as well as questions from Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), Mark Warner (D-VA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO). Next we discuss an anti-Trump conference that Judge Boasberg attended months ago. The group was pro illegal immigrant and one of the topics was the role of judges in democracy. Fox News reports DOGE is now going after all of the contracts the government has and giving everyone a week to detail what they are the benefits they are providing. This butts up against more comment on just how badly the IRS is run, yet they are billions in the hole and they keep spending money. MSNBC host Michael Steele believes illegal, violent gang members who have been designated as terrorists should be afforded due process and their day in court. In similar knuckle-head fashion, more Leftist Tesla owners are writing messages on their windows saying when they purchased their car and how they are aligned with Leftist ideology. Maybe if have write those kinds of message to avoid becoming a target, perhaps you are in the wrong party. Rep. Jasmine Crocket (D-TX) has one-up'd herself on the Village Idiot scale. At a Human Rights conference she mocked the wheel-chair bound governor of her state, using as much fake accent as she could muster solely for comedy. Finally, on some positive notes, HHS Secretary RFK, Jr. says they are eliminating fraud, waste and abuse as well as redundancy. The Secretary of the USDA said the same. And CNN has to admit, that while Trump is still at a -4 favorability rating among all Americans, it's the highest it's been and even higher than when he was initially elected. Don't let the Left lead you to believe we regret our vote. It's a narrative they are desperate to make true. We open with word that Russian president Vladimir Putin is open to a cease fire if it means getting to an end to all hostilities. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) belclowns herself again regarding the possible government shutdown. And, Sen. Chuck “You” Schumer needs to be reminded that the current CR is a continuation of the Biden/Democrat budget. Yet, many Democrats cannot be trusted to write their own thoughts about the looming shutdown and have to resort to copy/paste from the approved messaging from their Hive Queen overlord. Rep. James Comer (R-KY) says they have finally been given access to dozens of suspicious activity reports surrounding ActBlue. He also mentions there are likely hundreds more. The acting ICE Director, Todd Lyons, just revealed another instance of the Biden regime cooking the books. Seems all of those “arrests” they touted at the border, were nothing more than initial apprehensions, before processing them and releasing them into the country. This leads DNI Tulsi Gabbard to tell us while the Biden era wanted to focus on white supremacy, the real threat is with the influx of Islamists into our country unchecked. There was an illegal protest inside of Trump Tower today, demanding the release of the Hamas terrorist affiliate Mahmoud Khalil. While they were being arrested, Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained to the brain dead Legacy/Mainstream media why Khalil's case isn't one of First Amendment rights. We play audio of Sen. Bernie Sander (D-VT) sounding like he's now onboard with the DOGE team. Then we realize, that was back in 2011. We wonder what's changed since then? EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin explains how rolling back so many onerous regulations will help all Americans, while CNN makes fools of themselves by choosing not to look things up before trying to “fact check” them. Rep. Tim “Sarah” McBride (D-DE) took to the lectern to address being called “Congressman” and went on a silly and ironic rant about culture wars and a wish for the GOP to work on bringing down costs and finding government efficiencies. So, on the heels of people living mentally unhinged, we turn to a man in Seattle who bought a Tesla, only to destroy it in an effort to hurt Elon Musk. Finally, we get work from a TikTok'er by the name of TheSouthernGal1 regarding “intelligence” after being mocked by someone for her accent. We open with a return this week of Tara Bull's Top 10 News items the Legacy/mainstream media likely didn't cover this week, or didn't cover properly. It's always fun to run through several news items before jumping into my show prep. February hiring numbers finally showed more hires in the private sector, with losses in the public. That's the trend we want to see continuing for several months. The Trump administration may be having talks with the opposition in Ukraine in an effort to supplant Zelenskyy. They want to push an election cycle and what better way to see if the people are behind their cosplaying war president. Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) revealed that the money allocated for Ukraine is more of a slush fund. She recently said that often billions would be siphoned elsewhere, including to terrorists in Yemen. EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin discussed more about the EPA slush fund story that broke yesterday. On the same subject, seems HHS also has a story regarding one of Biden's former COVID advisors and a funneling of $28 million dollars to a new NGO with no location other than a P.O. box. DNI Tulsi Gabbard was at the border yesterday and revealed some striking numbers of crossings from the prior administration. The most troublesome ones related to known terrorists who were allowed to go free in our country. We get two back-to-back soundbites from D.C.'s village idiots. In the first one Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tries to sell the idiotic concept that tax cuts “cost” the government. In the second, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) conflates Transgenderism and DEI with the moves of the administration to crackdown of fraud, waste and abuse. I also give you a runner-up for village idiot with Stacey Abrams explaining what they wanted to do with the $2 billion funneled into her NGO. ActBlue might be in serious trouble. Seem a lot of resignations and turmoil within is being reported by the NYTimes. President Donald Trump just signed an order making March 2025 Women's Appreciation month. Finally, as we look to spring forward with the clock to DST, can we finally set the clocks and leave them alone forever? We open the show amazed at the number of overly qualified village idiots who have found a home inside the Democrat leadership. We get a zinger from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) followed immediately by Sen. Chuck “You” Schumer (D-NY). Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) reveals the latest scheme by the Democrats in the House to take away Constitutional power from the President and put it in their own hands. At President Trump's first Cabinet meeting, he had Elon Musk explain what the role o DOGE is and how it's going. They also took questions from the press. Tulsi Gabbard said they have already fired 100 agents at the CIA for their postings. She also said the same thing about the CNN piece we discussed yesterday about fired agents selling state secrets in retaliation. Sec. Of Defense Pete Hegseth said they are doing a full, internal investigation into the Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan. There will likely be several political generals who will be let go. A gifted data analyst who goes by the moniker DataRepublican revealed how an NGO run by far Left activists behind most of the lawfare waged on Trump had $17 million sent to them to create a knock-off of a Muppet show. Based on the quality of the show and only 200 views, she wonders where all the money really went? CNN's Jake Tapper is gaslighting us with his latest book. Original Sin is supposed to be about the cover-up of Joe Biden's cognitive decline, but we cannot pretend he wasn't part of it. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt schooled the press on Dan Bongino and then took delight in telling them that they were no longer going to let the D.C. press pool decide who could ask the President questions. MSNBC just fired Rachel Maddow's staff after her rant in defense of Joe Reid, while throwing her own employers under the bus. That's a shame. Finally, we reveal the latest astroturfing move to try to sow seeds of discontent inside deep red pockets of the country by sending agitators into town hall meetings. The agitators pretend to be outraged MAGA voters, but they are Democrat operatives who have been bought and paid to pretend. Jack Barksdale's Roots Revival

Today I sat down with Ed Snodderly, an amazing roots singer-songwriter and musician from Johnson City, Tennessee. We got to talk about his new album (Chimney Smoke) coming out in July, the songwriting class he teaches at East Tennessee State University, how he got started in music, and much more. Ed has released LPs on Sugar Hill and other prestigious roots-oriented labels and, in addition to his solo work, he also recorded and performed as the Brother Boys with duet partner Eugene Wolf. Ed's songs have been recorded by such artists as Sam Bush, John Cowan, Reeltime Travelers, Missy Raines, Jerry Douglas, and several others. His original lyrics from "The Diamond Stream" are featured in Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Hall of Honor Rotunda beside A.P. Carter's standard "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." He also appeared in the Coen Brothers' 2000 award-winning film O Brother, Where Art Thou as the Village Idiot, and again as a ballroom musician alongside Alison Krauss's band. So needless to say there was a lot to discuss and, though we didn't get to touch on everything I was really glad to learn more about him and his music. As always email me at jack@jackbarksdale.com for any questions or show ideas.

The Village Idiot by Steve Stern (Melville House, 2022) opens with a marvelous boat race on the River Seine in 1917. The already well-known artist Amedeo Modigliani is in a bathtub ostensibly being pulled by a flock of ducks, but actually being hauled by immigrant painter Chaim Soutine. Soutine, a poorly educated, rough, and unmannered immigrant from a shtetl in the Pale of Settlement, is disoriented by the recycled air he breathes into his helmet. As he trudges along the river bottom pulling the bathtub along, he considers his past and future life. Soutine painted as a child even when it led to humiliation and beatings by his father and brothers. Neither the collectors who supported him, the friends (like Modigliani) who stood up for him, or the women who fought over him could get in the way of his painting. But then the Nazis swept across Europe, destroying everything Jewish in their path, including a generation of talented Jewish artists. Some, like Soutine, managed to evade capture. Stern's gorgeous novel is a sweeping, imaginative story of a great artist who was uniquely brilliant but simultaneously unpleasant and unwashed. Steve Stern was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1947, and left to attend college, then to travel before ending up on a hippie commune in the Ozarks. He studied writing in the graduate program at the University of Arkansas, at a time when it included several notable writers who've since become prominent, including poet C.D. Wright and fiction writers Ellen Gilchrist, Lewis Nordan, Lee K. Abbott and Jack Butler. In his thirties, Stern accepted a job at a local folklore center where he learned about the city's old Jewish ghetto, The Pinch, and began to steep himself in Yiddish folklore. His first book, Isaac and the Undertaker's Daughter, 1983 won the Pushcart Writers' Choice Award. By decade's end Stern had won the O. Henry Award, two Pushcart Prize awards, published more collections, including Lazar Malkin Enters Heaven (which won the Edward Lewis Wallant Award for Jewish American Fiction) and the novel Harry Kaplan's Adventures Underground, and was being hailed by critics, such as Cynthia Ozick, as the successor to Isaac Bashevis Singer. Stern's 2000 collection The Wedding Jester won the National Jewish Book Award and his novel The Angel of Forgetfulness was named one of the best books of 2005 by The Washington Post. Stern, who teaches at Skidmore College, has also won some notable scholarly awards, including a Fulbright fellowship and the Guggenheim foundations Fellowship. He splits his time between Brooklyn and Balston Spa, New York and enjoys hiking, climbing, biking, and kayaking. G.P. Amid the carnage of World War I, some of the foremost artists of the age have chosen to stage a boat race.  At the head of the regatta is Amedeo Modigliani, seated regally in a bathtub pulled by a flock of canvasback ducks.  But unbeknownst to the competition, he has a secret advantage: his young friend, the immigrant painter Chaim Soutine, is hauling the tub from underwater.  Soutine, an unwashed, misfit artist (who incidentally can't swim) has been persuaded by the Italian to don a ponderous diving suit and trudge along the floor of the river Seine.  Disoriented and confused by the artificial air in his helmet Chaim stumbles through the events of his past and future life. It's quite an extraordinary life.  From his impoverished beginnings in an East European shtetl to his equally destitute days in Paris during the Années Folles, the Crazy Years, from the Cinderella patronage of the American collector Albert Barnes, who raises him from poverty to international attention, to his perilous flight from the Nazi occupation of France, Chaim Soutine remains driven by his unrelenting passion to paint.  To be sure, there are notable distractions, such as his unlikely friendship with Modigliani, who drags him from brothels to midnight felonies to a duel at dawn; there are the romances with remarkable women who compete with and sometimes salvage his obsession. But there is also, always on the horizon, the coming storm that threatens to sweep away Chaim and a generation of gifted Jewish refugees from a tradition that would outlaw their longing to make art. Wildly inventive, as funny as it is heart-breaking, The Village Idiot is a luminous fever-dream of a novel, steeped in the heady atmosphere of a Paris that was the cultural capital of the universe, a place where anything seemed possible.Buy the book from Wellington Square Bookshop - https://wellingtonsquarebooks.indiecommerce.com/book/9781612199825

This week I am joined by great comedian and co-producer of the Village Idiot comedy show, Andrew Ginsberg. We talk about him starting out in the improv community before switching to stand up, growing up with city parents in rural country, the underground counter culture of stand up during the pandemic, and just a lot about our experiences in comedy in New York. With Andrew being over a year sober from booze he has plenty of EX Drinking Buddy stories that got him there; starting to drink in 7th grade, partying all through high school and college featuring a hybrid drug we dubbed “Molly-esque”, blacking out a lot (including on a zoom call with friends), and we end on the two stories that lead to his current sobriety.Follow Andrew on Instagram and make sure to check out the awesome shows he helps produce with The Village Idiot.Follow Me on Instagram and Twitter, check out the EX Drinking Buddy MERCH, and please subscribe on Patreon.
