Academy Award®-winning production sound mixer Simon Hayes joins us to discuss his groundbreaking work on “Wicked.” Nominated for his third Oscar®, Hayes shares how he captured live vocals on set, blending the technical innovation with the emotional. He reflects on lessons learned from “Les Misérables,” how he worked seamlessly with the music department, and the intricate process of ensuring performers like Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande had the freedom to deliver their most powerful performances while always staying in sync with the film's score."We had no idea that when Cynthia and Ari sung together, their voices would mesh the way that they did. And something very, very special happens when those two sing together… That first time when I had my cans on, and they were dueting, and the hairs on the back of my neck started standing up, and you get that tingle… You just know, as a sound mixer, 'My God, we've struck gold.' This is something very unique and special."—Simon Hayes, Production Sound Mixer, “Wicked”Be sure to check out “Wicked,” now available to stream at home in Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos®.And don't miss our previous episode featuring Stephen Schwartz and the music team behind “Wicked, as well as our episode with Director Jon M. Wicked has music that swings from massive orchestral pieces, to delicate underscore. There is sound design adding comedy, tension and fear. On top of all that, there is the singing, recorded live on set, that really brings out the emotions of the story. Production sound mixer Simon Hayes tells us how they captured the vocals on a busy set and supervising sound editors Nancy Nugent Title & John Marquis discuss building up the sounds to create the sonic world of Oz. Supervising music editor Jack Dolman, discusses how the music all came together from pre-records to the final edit. All that work, so re-recording mixers Andy Nelson and John Marquis could sculpt the mix to make this crowd pleasing epic operate at its peak. Let's see how optimising communication in home care makes things easier all around! Simon Hayes is the co-founder of Hayylo. He is focused on building a world where customers can seamlessly connect and communicate with their providers, friends and families. Simon is a generalist entrepreneur. Hayylo is a purpose-built communications platform. It is helping providers to engage effectively and efficiently with clients, families and their support teams. Hayylo bolts onto the provider's current record systems, CMS and other infrastructure they already have in place, enabling them to share information out into the community.  In this episode, Pete and Simon have a conversation about the Hayylo platform, the importance of person-led care, and the opportunities for innovation at scale within the health and aged care sectors.  This episode is packed with innovation guides for aged care and home care. From this episode, you will understand just how implementing and improving communication channels give rise to person-led care and reduce the cost and other pressures for the providers, the client, their families and support teams.  Check out the episode and full show notes here. This episode is another one that looks at better ways of transacting commercial real estate. My guest in this episode is Simon Hayes from LeaseSearch. Now one of the big issues with commercial real estate, especially in the industrial and big office leases, is that it's hard to compare apples with apples. Unlike residential, where a three bedroom home is going to be pretty easy to compare to other three bedroom homes in the suburb, the variations in commercial can be extensive, and the value of the different features or compromises are hard to compare and put a value on. Lease negotiation therefore can be complicated, including large spreadsheets of features and lease terms. Now LeaseSearch makes all of that easy. It helps tenants identify the features they really need a property to have, and it connects tenants with landlords of suitable properties. It then speeds up the leasing process, ensuring all property and financial issues are covered, and saves time for everyone involved. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theproptechpodcast/message

It is this:Undue concern regarding your ranking amongst geniuses is an unworthy preoccupation. It's an inward-looking, utterly theoretical concern that's extremely unlikely to lead to any tangible value for yourself or anyone else. True or false,  it simply does not merit the attention you're giving it. Also,  has it not occurred to you that anyone actually qualified to provide the affirmation you seem to be seeking would need to be beyond your own level of genius to an extent that would compromise the value of that affirmation ?Suppose you get it : what next ?Suppose you don't get it: what next ?In short,  I humbly urge you to seek out a more worthy preoccupation - one that has some hope of bringing real benefits - both to yourself and the rest of us. Good hunting,  comrade !
