Prof. Jakob Foerster, a leading AI researcher at Oxford University and Meta, and Chris Lu, a researcher at OpenAI -- they explain how AI is moving beyond just mimicking human behaviour to creating truly intelligent agents that can learn and solve problems on their own. Foerster champions open-source AI for responsible, decentralised development. He addresses AI scaling, goal misalignment (Goodhart's Law), and the need for holistic alignment, offering a quick look at the future of AI and how to guide it.SPONSOR MESSAGES:***CentML offers competitive pricing for GenAI model deployment, with flexible options to suit a wide range of models, from small to large-scale deployments. Adam and Faith are delighted to be joined by Louis Rosenberg, PhD, and David Baltaxe, who are the CEO and President respectively of Unanimous AI. Unanimous AI amplifies the intelligence of networked human groups through their Swarm AI technology. This technology seems to be especially directed at businesses with multiple shareholders trying to all pull in different directions, with the idea that a ‘swarm' can get to the solution more effectively. Louis and David often refer to their technology in the biological sense with schools of fish or swarms of bees, but the technology is far from rudimentary. Unlike most AI companies, Unanimous AI is not looking to replace humans, but instead looking to connect people leveraging AI. We hope you enjoy the conversation!

This episode was recorded live in Austin, Texas at the West China Tea House in partnership with EFF-Austin, a non-profit committed to the establishment and protection of digital rights and defense of the wealth of digital information, innovation, and technology. Founded in 1991 as a local sub-chapter of The Electronic Frontier Foundation and run as an independent organization, EFF-Austin promotes the right of all citizens to communicate and share information without unreasonable constraint — as well as the fundamental right to explore, tinker, create, and innovate along the frontier of emerging technologies. In this episode, I talk with Kevin Welch and David Hensley about why digital rights matter to our analog lives; whether and how the genies of rampant technological innovation can be forced back into the bottle; how to think about the inherent tensions between individuals and institutions; what esoteric traditions and superhero movies may have to teach us about living in the 21st century, and considerably more. Louis Rosenberg, PhD is a technology pioneer in fields of virtual reality (AR), augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI). He founded Unanimous AI to amplify the intelligence of networked human groups using the biological principle of Swarm Intelligence combined with AI. The idea panned out, resulting in Swarm AI, an award-winning technology used by a wide range of organizations from Fortune 500 corporations to the United Nations. Rosenberg began his career at Stanford University where he earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees. Working at Air Force Research Laboratory in the early 1990's, Rosenberg created the Virtual Fixtures platform, the first functional AR system merging the real and the virtual into a unified interactive reality. He then founded the early VR company Immersion Corp (1993) and brought the company public in 1999. He also founded Microscribe, maker of 3D tools used in the production of animated films, including Shrek, Ice Age, and Bugs Life (acquired in 2009). Rosenberg also founded Outland Research in 2004, a developer of mobile media and AR technologies (acquired in 2011). Rosenberg was also a Professor at California State University (Cal Poly) teaching engineering, design, ed-tech, and entrepreneurship. A prolific inventor, Rosenberg has been awarded more than 300 patents worldwide for his efforts in VR, AR, and AI.I run into him at the bar, and we talk about the early pioneering days of AI, once forecasting the superfecta of the 2016 Kentucky Derby, AI advancements in the medical field, improving accuracy, data integrity, Unanimous AI, Swarm technology, and security risks of the Metaverse.Tony forecasts a "Mint Julep".Support the show

On today's ID the Future, Animal Algorithms author Eric Cassell delves into another fascinating portion of his new book, the programmed social behaviors of colony insects and the challenge these instinctive behaviors pose for modern evolutionary theory. Cassell and host Robert J. Marks discuss the complex caste system of these colonies, the impressive signaling systems they use to communicate, and how technologists study these tiny-brained creatures to learn tricks for developing and improving drone swarm technology. How could a mindless evolutionary process have evolved these sophisticated colonies, where various castes appear essential to the functioning and survival of the colony, and possess their division-of-labor skills instinctively? Some colony members also behave altruistically, a fact that Charles Darwin himself conceded posed Read More › Source

Joel Dietz is a technology entrepreneur and early contributor to Ethereum. The founder of Swarm Network Joel is researching blockchain network topologies, swarm intelligence, and holonic philosophy. Joel is working on Art Wallet, a smart wallet for NFTs. Why you should listen: Art Wallet is a one-stop solution for the NFT markets and the Metaverse. ArtWallet provides a solution for storing and owning NFTs with a simple gateway to NFT marketplaces. ArtWallet provides a media delivery vehicle for the playback of unique audio/visual content. Created with Data Persistence and Authenticity Verification in mind, the protocol acts as a useful gateway to the most reputable NFT platforms while also providing a media delivery vehicle for unique audiovisual playback. ArtWallet even supports NFT content rental, introducing a new primitive in the market and giving users the convenience of only paying for the time they use the material itself. The protocol's media delivery vehicle supports exclusive content locked to specific consumers: raising the possibility of accessing fan sites via non-fungible tokens. Holonic philosophy is an evolution of jurisprudence, data-driven approaches to innovation, and smart city data architecture. Have you ever been involved in a “brute force” cost cutting exercise? Ever felt helpless as valuable programs were eliminated or gutted and skilled talent walked out the door? If so, you are not alone. You were likely involved in a corporate expense slashing exercise or what many call “corporate downsizing”. These efforts have historically been orchestrated by C-suite executives coupled with management consultants, with little or no input from rank-and-file employees. Unfortunately, the C-suite and their advisors often lack the in-depth knowledge and appreciation for what is involved in the complex operations of medium-to-large enterprises. The fallout from these efforts can be devastating, taking years to restart key programs and rebuild lost talent, if it happens at all. This episode of The North Star is titled “Improving Corporate Earnings via Swarm Intelligence”. William Ulrich and his guest, James Smith, will examine the major shortcomings of historic corporate downsizing efforts and discuss innovative approaches to achieving the long-sought goal of intelligently reducing corporate expenses. If you want to explore more optimal and effective ways to improve corporate earnings, tune in and gain insights into how this innovative approach to cost reduction may be deployed in practice.

What does swarm intelligence have to do with building self-healing teams? In this episode, I feature a paper by our research team that takes on a strongly contested argument - that the collective behaviour of social insects, like ants, could provide inspiration to our thinking about effective teamwork. In particular, the idea that teams can recover from disruption by becoming interchangeable, as ants do. Full citation: Cristancho SM. Ok guys today we sit down with Louis Rosenberg.Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs….I would not be surprised for future generations to be referencing the brilliance of Louis Rosenberg in the same light. He is an innovator and by that I mean he sees things before they happen. Not only does he think outside the box and see what could be…but he also makes that vision come into our physical reality. To be able to see it…and then do it. Talk about two simple concepts but very few ppl on the planet have done what Louis has done.In this conversation we get into his journey starting as a kid from Long Island, NY…how he was diagnosed with dyslexia but instead of dwelling on the difficulties of that dx he really leaned into the creative doors that it allowed his mind to open. Which leads us into his journey West to study at Stanford where he gets his PhD… and then its an exploration of his path thus far… starting companies, creating technology, writing screen plays that have turned into films, and books….We talk about his latest endeavor which I personally am very excited about called Unanimous AI. This part of the conversation begins around min 52 for anyone that likes to listen out of order.Unanimous AI is fascinating because Louis invented the technology to allow humans to leverage the swarm intelligence that is present in Nature. The possibilities and potential positive contributions to humanity that will come out of this technology is really exciting.People are smart. We want to connect. We want to belong and contribute to something greater than ourselves in a positive way. Louis leaned into these truths and listened to nature to build us a technology to access a collective super intelligence.
