The Tennessee Titans took a guard in the first round of the NFL draft and while some didn't like it, it has proven to be a smart pick so far. Finally, Will Levis had some struggles against the Panthers, but it is better for him to have those now than next year.Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitansFollow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPodSubscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videosSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!DoorDashGet 50% off up to $10 value when you spend $15 or more on your FIRST order, when you download the DoorDash app and enter code LOCKED23. After the six-game suspension of Nicholas Petit-Frere, is there more pressure on 1st Round pick Peter Skoronski and the O-Line? Also, what questions surround the Titans' Defense this upcoming season?
In an attempt to put the issues from his rookie season behind him, 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks decided to stay put. The wide receiver, who battled conditioning and injury issues last season, decided to spend the offseason in Nashville, training at the team facility to better acclimate himself to the local conditions as well as to build rapport and trust with the coaching staff. ... This year's first-round pick, offensive lineman Peter Skoronski, still does not have a position, based on the team's rookie camp. Skoronski worked at both guard and tackle despite a college career that suggests he is one and not the other. ... Quarterback Will Levis, this year's second-round choice, looked comfortable running the offense during the rookie camp -- which he should have. Coach Mike Vrabel was not exactly quick, however, to heap praise on the Titans' newest quarterback of the future. ... Running back Tyjae Spears, the third-round selection, had nothing to say about his medical history when asked (repeatedly). ... The 2023 NFL schedule is out, and it has Tennessee on the go for an extended stretch during the middle part.
The Tennessee Titans rookie mini-camp took place over the weekend and rookie QB Will Levis was the talk of the weekend. Tyler goes over the Levis' performance and why he should be the starter this season. Also, Titans' first-round pick Peter Skoronski got off to a strong start and showed his versatility out of the gate. Finally, Tyler goes over the debut of explosive playmakers like Tyjae Spears, Josh Whyle and Jacob Copeland.Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitansFollow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPodSubscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videosSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetterHelpThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. No one would say the Tennessee Titans' selection of Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft (11th overall) was a reach. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound All-American was widely considered to be among this year's top 10 prospects. However, pre-draft analysis included concern about his short arms, similar to what happened a year ago with cornerback Roger McCreary. The Titans selected McCreary in the second round, and he was one of their most consistent performers throughout the 2022 season. ... Skoronski was the first of six picks Tennessee made in this year's draft. All six were on offense, which is a franchise first. ... For the second year in a row, the Titans drafted someone they hope will be their quarterback of the future, Will Levis of Kentucky. Levis unexpectedly dropped out of the first round, and his selection -- a year after Malik Willis was picked in the third round -- was not universally celebrated by the fan base. ... To get Levis, the Titans traded up from the No. 41 overall pick to No. 35. By the time they made their third pick, a host of notable wide receivers were chosen, and if there is one position at which this team needed some immediate help, it was wide receiver. ... Tennessee finally selected a receiver in the seventh round. They made Colton Dowell of Tennessee-Martin their final pick (seventh round, 228 overall) and the 30th wide receiver overall selected. ... In his first draft as a general manager, Ran Carthon showed he was willing to be -- when possible -- aggressive. He also said he stuck to the team's draft board and that the focus on offense was not intentional.

Former Steeler Trai Essex joined the show. Trai said Peter Skoronski is the best offensive lineman in this draft and described him as an alpha – even comparing him to guys like Alan Faneca and Maurkice Pouncey. Trai has Broderick Jones as his second-best option for the Steelers. Trai talked about players getting pigeonholed as they go into the draft and how they can work their way out of that. Even though Trai loves Skoronski, he'd prefer to get a player without having to trade up and deal away some assets. He mentioned a few guys the Steelers can get with the 32nd overall pick if they don't get one of the top guys in the 1st round. He spoke highly of Dan Moore and thinks Chukwuma Okorafor would be the odd-man-out up front. He suggested going after a defensive tackle or corner at 17 because he thinks offensive line can be had later in the draft. When asked if he wants to trade up for Jalen Carter, Trai said YES YES YES. Trai talked about how the Steelers offensive line can fill out next season. Trai thinks the Steelers will take Joey Porter Jr. tonight.

The Chicago Bears have made some major moves that include the trade with the Panthers for multiple draft picks and D.J. Moore. Plus, they added three big-time free agents Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards and Nate Davis. The team has also made major strides with quality depth signings that make sense for this roster. However, where is Ryan Poles going to find players to fix the glaring holes left on the offensive and defensive lines? Are there any quality free agents left or will the Chicago Bears need to focus on the 2023 NFL Draft?

And do you agree with the Giants running it back by paying the QB and RB more money against the cap this past season? With the other team in NYC, will Aaron Rodgers go to the Jets? Former Steeler Arthur Moats joined the show. He still thinks Lamar's game could age well, but he might have to get out of Baltimore. Arthur talked about if Aaron Rodgers makes the Jets a better contender than the Steelers. Chris asked if the arm length for Peter Skoronski matters as he transitions to the NFL level and Arthur said he's got Skoronski as his best tackle heading into the draft and doesn't think the short arms will hurt him in the pro's. Arthur thinks Bud Dupree will be back in Pittsburgh. The 2023 Pittsburgh sports media March Madness bracket breakdown.

The NFL Scouting Combine has wrapped up in Indianapolis. Peter Skoronski had a very good performance, but will the short arms scare other teams away? Some draft analysts have Skoronski listed as a guard instead of a tackle. Mullsy made a push for Broderick Jones because he believes he has the highest ceiling out of the group. Chris thinks Mike Tomlin could side with the Georgia prospect because of the higher level of football. Giveaway. A true crime documentary discussion.
Steelers insider Mark Kaboly from The Athletic joined the show. Mark said Andy Weidl can put together the Steelers draft board, but the final call will come from Mike Tomlin, Omar Khan and Art Rooney II. Mark labeled it as the most important draft in decades. Mark doesn't think the Steelers will go get Jordan Addison, as in trade up for him, but he could see him becoming the 17th overall pick if the top offensive linemen and top cornerbacks are gone. Mark talked up Calijah Kancey, but said he was too good for the Steelers to have a shot at 17. Mark said Peter Skoronski is still his top target wit the Steelers first pick because there is still a need to build the offensive line. Mark expects Robert Spillane and Myles Jack to be back, but still expects inside linebacker to be targeted. Mark still thinks Mitch Trubisky would rather be elsewhere instead of signing an extension in Pittsburgh.
