Sludge Life 2 is an extremely welcome sequel that gives us more of the original's winning formula. It's an improbably enjoyable game that mixes high-speed first-person parkour with tagging, urban exploration, puerile humour, a wavy soundtrack, and a bleak world full of hilarious NPCs just trying to get through life. In the roundup: Jingle Jam 2023, A Highland Song, December releases, Backpack Hero, and more. And many thanks to the show's 59 patrons! The midpoint of the year means it's time to decide what our five favorite games of the past six months are, and this week we're joined by Jesse Cox of Chilluminati (among other projects) to help us count 'em down. Then we'll dig into Sludge Life 2, unravel the latest knot of Activision-Microsoft news, and hear about your favorite games of the year so far.
The All-Elite Wrestling game is finally out and Alex has spent a bunch of time with it, Sludge Life 2 has oozed onto the scene, we're still playing Diablo and Final Fantasy, a ton of juicy details have emerged from the Microsoft/Activision FTC hearings, and Nintendo has pledged the unthinkable: carrying your online account over to their next console. It is well-known amongst both developers and players that Australia has one of the most onerous and hardline classification systems in the world. From AAA titles including FALLOUT 3 to indies including DISCO ELYSIUM and most recently SLUDGE LIFE and LAKE, there are a significant number of titles that run into release problems under our current classification guidelines. In this PAX Australia 2021 panel, we'll explore how the videogames classification system works, the impact of interaction on classification, we'll look at the history of games that have been refused classification and pose the question - isn't it time our videogames classification system was overhauled? Screenhub's Jini Maxwell, Freeplay's Chad Toprak and ACMI's Arieh Offman joined SIFTER's Gianni Di Giovanni for this fun discussion . Lightmap is produced by Nicholas Kennedy, Viv Thum, Fiona Bartholomaeus, Daniel Ang & Adam Christou. Mitch Loh is Senior Producer and Gianni Di Giovanni is our Executive Producer. Neste episódio da série Jogos INDIEspensáveis, Tovar, Kiefer e Reche trazem mais três indicações: Sludge Life, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX e Retro Machina. Bora ouvir?
This week's featured game is Sludge Life – a brilliantly fun, deeply grimy first-person game about tagging and thieving your way through a smoggy industrial dystopia, to the sound of a stellar lo-fi hip-hop soundtrack. Also mentioned this episode: Slay The Spire, 80 Days, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and how feels to finally get a PS5. This week I took on Ubisoft's Immortals: Fenyx Rising. It's a comedic take on some familiar Greek myths, with gameplay DNA from both the Assassin's Creed series and, notably, Nintendo's Breath of the Wild. Also mentioned this episode: Sludge Life, Umurangi Generation, Slay The Spire, Death Stranding, FAR: Changing Tides and the Wholesome Games direct. You can follow the show's Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch via http://gaminginthewild.carrd.com and support the show on Patreon via http://patreon.com/gaminginthewild. Thanks to Ubisoft Nordic for supplying a review copy of the game. And as always, thanks for listening!
This week's featured game is indie smash-hit Slay the Spire. It's an easy to play, tough to master deck-battler game in which you try to fight your way to the top of the mysterious spire via bouts of addictive, strategic combat. There's also a less positive review of the conceptually interesting, visually spectacular and deeply flawed Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Also mentioned this episode: Ni No Kuni, Immortals: Fenyx Rising, Card of Darkness, Loop Hero, Sludge Life, Umurangi Generation. You can come say hi and follow the show on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch via http://linktr.ee/gaminginthewild. A in chronologischer Reihenfolge: Huntdown, Cloudpunk, Sludge Life, Golf with your Friends, Maneater, What the Golf, Fury Unleashed, Through the Darkest of Times, The Flower Collectors, Atomicrops, Night Call, Animal Crossing. Artikel und Trailer zu den genannten Spielen findest du natürlich bei uns im Magazin. Was waren deine Indie Game Highlights der ersten Jahreshälfte?
