Happy Thanksgiving to you and to your family! We present our only thanksgiving movie reaction, the cult classic Pauly Shore movie, Son In Law!
Son in Law is the perfect movie to watch during Thanksgiving. A precursor to Hallmark Channel, this is a 90s story of an outsider coming to a small town for Thanksgiving and bring everyone together. We talk about the Pauly Shore 90s, how his career could've been different and why I want all the fashion Crawl is wearing. We gotta split cause we got to munch on some grindage.
We're covering two comedy JUGGERNAUTS in this episode: Chris Farley and Pauly Shore! Listen as we discuss Son In Law, Black Sheep, staples of 90's comedy, which movie Ryan thought was one of the best movies he's reviewed so far, and which comedian Mike has never had the pleasure of watching perform

This Thanksgiving, Dan “The Part-Time Avenger” and Mark “The Resident Jedi” head back to the '90s for a holiday feast of nostalgia with Pauly Shore's cult-classic comedy Son in Law.The guys carve into this fish-out-of-water gem where a SoCal party animal takes on small-town farm life—and somehow becomes the hero no one expected. From weasel-isms to hayrides, denim vests, and Thanksgiving chaos, it's all on the table.

A respected law professor. A bitter custody battle. And a murder that took more than a decade to fully unravel. When Dan Markel was gunned down in his Tallahassee driveway in 2014, investigators uncovered a murder-for-hire plot tied to his ex-wife's family, the Adelsons. Now, after years of wiretaps, arrests, and courtroom chaos, the matriarch herself, Donna Adelson, has finally faced justice.Convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation, Donna was sentenced to life in prison at 75 years old for orchestrating the hit that ended Dan's life. But even at sentencing, she swore she was innocent. Was she the mastermind behind one of Florida's most infamous family murder plots or just another Adelson in denial?*********************Past Cases Mentioned in this Episode:Love, Lies, and Divorce | A Tallahassee Murder-for-Hire That's Stranger Than Fiction | The Murder of Dan Markelhttps://wp.me/pdbuVw-WRQ**************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you'd like to hear about? In this heartfelt coaching call, Nina wrestles with two layered questions:1.How can I have an honest, meaningful conversation with the boy my daughter is dating, without overwhelming or intimidating him?2.How do I stay emotionally attuned and supportive to my older daughter who might feel left behind when her younger sister gets engaged first?Together, we explore what it means to assess someone's emotional maturity: not by lecturing or preaching, but by creating relational moments that reveal their capacity for humility, self-awareness, and connection. Nina learns to shift from “explaining what matters” to “asking questions that reveal,” including storytelling prompts that elicit vulnerability, repair orientation, and conflict navigation style. Then we transition to her fear about her older daughter's emotional reaction to the younger sibling's engagement. We unpack the cultural and personal sensitivities involved, and I offer a powerful shift: lead with presence, not performance. Ask before reassuring. Witness before reframing. Allow emotional truth to be spoken without trying to fix it.Listener Takeaways•How to assess emotional maturity in someone without coming off as judgmental or overbearing•Conversation starters that reveal someone's approach to conflict, power struggles, and personal growth•The difference between performing connection and living it•How to support adult children through complex sibling dynamics•Why “fixing” someone's feelings can feel like disapproval, and what to do insteadIf you're looking for a high caliber small group where you can deepen your practice and really live into the principles of compassion, non-violence and relational presence, apply for The Mentorship Circle, which will begin November 2nd. Bishop T.D. Jakes, who founded The Potter's House and has led the Dallas megachurch for almost 30 years, announced at a Sunday morning service that he will be handing leadership of the church over to his daughter and son-in-law. Their appointment will occur later this year. In other news, two young men are dead and a third was injured in a shooting when a fight broke out at an Arlington gas station Saturday night. At about 10:06 p.m., Arlington police officers responded to a reported shooting at a gas station in the 5600 block of South Cooper Street; a throng of people gathered in downtown Dallas Sunday afternoon to rally against the Trump administration's policy changes that have affected labor, federal workers and immigrants' rights. According to organizers, the rally held at Civic Garden was part of May Day celebrations across the country, an event also known as International Workers' Day; and the NFL draft is an unpredictable force. A prime example came this weekend when a pair of area quarterbacks were selected far later than expected. Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers went into the third day of the draft Saturday afternoon waiting to hear their names called. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

FIDF Chief Executive Officer Steve Weil welcomes Yuval Baron, Son-in-Law of Keith and Aviva Siegel, to share his family's unique story of survival. Yuval describes the feeling of welcoming back his mother Aviva, and later his father Keith, from Gaza as witnessing what is known in Judaism as “Techiat Hameitim,” the revival of the dead. Yuval then provides some details on the harrowing conditions under Hamas captivity, such as living underground in tight quarters, a lack of food and water, and being under constant psychological torture from their Hamas captors. Yuval is thrilled to have his family back, but, he explains, healing for Keith and Aviva cannot begin until the other hostages are back. Keith finds it difficult to understand why he is home but not the other hostages. With that being said, Keith is recovering well, and is receiving an outpouring of support from the country and the Israeli government. And Yuval has taken it upon himself to be an ambassador for his parents and the other hostages, using his voice to influence the current state of the hostages. But we thought this year's Thanksgiving episode would go good with a side of Shore, so we're doing the oft-overlooked classic Son in Law.
