A whole bunch of us were raised on the premise of an Amercian Dream, and it turns out we were all sold a lie. The harder we work, the less we own. As the average life expectancy reaches new heights, so too do health disaprities. No matter who we vote for, politicians have zero interest in doing the will of the people. And there's no justice to be found in the legal justice system. So now that we've woken up (some of us have been awake for a while now), what are we going to do about it?Visit Asher's website and check out all his FREE RESOURCES. Massive show after a couple of massive weekends of golf for both Jace and Gropes. After all the build-up and excitement of the scramble final, there may have been some choking go on. Ned Brockman is an absolute weapon; he will sleep well for the next 400 weeks. The Pacific Championships start this weekend, the AFL trade period has laid dormant for 8 days but we FINALLY had trades on Tuesday. Plenty of cricket including Sheffield Shield, England making 800 in a test match, Joe Roots arse and a few bits of big news regarding Steve Smith and Cam Green for the upcoming summer. Baseball and Amercian sports got an unexpected plug so no doubt we have got several facts incorrect and can't wait to hear all about it from The Reggies community. Heaps of boxing yarns from the weekend including a couple of Aussies absolutely killing it in their divisions. As per usual there was plenty of controversy in the main event but hey, that's boxing! Shout out to our sponsors The Standard Squeeze and CTC, could not do the show without them and we love their support. Get around the people who support us! Hosted on Acast. In this episode the Tico Torres Tombola of Topics and Themes set the lads the task of finding three albums or bands that were in some way linked to criminal acts. And not just misdemeanours, thank you very much - these had to be crimes for which jail time would not only be inevitable, but also very lengthy. So, enter stage left Richard, clutching a copy of ZZ Top's Deguello (you'll have to listen to the episode to discover how it meets the brief). It marks a change of direction for the Texas boogie crew as they shifted away from their early blues and bluegrass brand of rock and roll to a more mainstream sound. 1981's El Loco would open the band up to mass awareness, and two years later the singles-packed Eliminator would become both golden goose and millstone. Welcome then to one of rock music's most significant commercial stepping stones. Next up, Mark. 1986's Mayhemic Destruction, from Aussie thrash merchants Mortal Sin was their recording debut after solid work on the local gig circuits around Sydney and the wider locale. It also contains two absolute nailed-on thrash gems. Prepare for Steve to go into an advanced state of priapism. Finally, Steve brought something as familiar and much loved as an old winter comforter, walking through the studio door with License To Kill, the 1987 sophomore effort from Amercian power rockers Malice. With a clutch of songs that could strip paint from the wall, this episode would get both loud ... and weird.

What's on the minds of Central Ohio's Gen Z girls, and where will they take America? Generation Z – the Zoomers – were born after 1996. The oldest of this rising generation has just graduated from college, and the youngest are now entering their teenage years, having been born just as Barack Obama entered the White House. Their formative years have been shaped by a global pandemic and the tumult of a divided America. Studies have shown that Gen Z embraces strong values rooted in a passion for racial justice, a deep concern for the planet and environmental sustainability, and as consumers, favor access as much as (or more than) ownership. Zoomers are digital natives, the first generation to grow up from their earliest childhoods with an ever-present Internet and portable digital technology. They're the fastest-growing segment of the Amercian electorate and the most racially-diverse,with a non-Hispanic white majority of just 52%. #florida #rondesantis #africanamerican #greeklife A bill proposed by Florida state Rep. Alex Andrade that "prohibits a state college, state university, or one of their direct-support organizations, from expending state or federal funds on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs or activities" has generated significant controversy in the U.S. Broadly speaking, the bill increases the authority of the Florida Board of Governors (the governing body of Florida's state university system) to regulate state-funded higher education by terminating the tenure of professors and imposing limits on programs related to "Critical Race Theory" and DEI programs. The Florida state House passed the bill. As of this writing, it was awaiting action in the Senate. The vague language combined with Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' prior actions in the Florida education sector have led many to raise concerns about the law's effect on classes or organizations discussing or founded around subjects like race. One viral post by comedian D.L. Hughley summarized this interpretation of the bill: AIR-USE COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. The CEO says Tik Tok is moving all US data and operations to the US, operated by US companies with Amercian employees. Lawmakers say they still worry the Chinese government can still access information on US users if it wants to. About 150 million Americans use Tik Tok regularly. Utah has become the first state to require teens to get parental permission before joining social media sites. The law signed by the Governor Thursday imposes a digital curfew, blocking sites for minors past 10:30 p.m. It'll also blackout ads for underage accounts and compel social media companies to allow parents access to their children's profiles. Wednesday August 31, 2022 - As we talked about on this show, the Amercian Rescue Plan required third-party e-commerce platforms like eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, and Tradesy to issue a 1099-K tax form to anyone with a total revenue of more than $600. A dramitic change to the old requirement of $20,000.00 in reveneue AND 200 or more transactions. Well, EBay is now demanding social security numbers from anyone with $600 in sales - or their account will be locked until they comply. Over and over, I opined that eBay and other cash app vendors would send 1099-Ks to anyone who met the threshold. Over and over, the IRS said no, this will not change the tax consequences of this sales. Only goods and services would be taxed. Well, that's still true. But, taxpayers who receive more than $600.00 will receive a 1099-K and have to prove to the IRS that the funds were not payments of goods or services. It will be a nightmare for taxpayers! Attorney Steven A. The City of DJinn project began as an invitation by Mickey Weems, Project Coordinator to send Marwan Kamel and Micah Bezold to travel from Chicago to Hawaii to perform as the City of DJinn and bring Muslim musical artists to perform and discuss Islam, Sufism, mysticism and transgression to Hawaii. Weems submitted a proposal and was granted by SEEDS IDEAS and the Department of English at UH Manoa. Kamel and Bezold are both students of Sufism who take traditional Arabic music and give it an American twist as their version of drone rock. When Covid 19 struck, it didn't stop the musical duo from completing the project and they started to work remotely and the collaboration extended to include some of the following artists: DJ Chris Chartier, hip-hop activist Navid Najafi, Poet Yasmine Ruhia, Sama Essa of Oman, DJ Russell Dement-Trent, DJ Yves Kline, violinist Patrick Park , KTUH Honolulu and myself, DJ Nocturna who helped coordinate the interviews. There's a whole list of people to thank for this project but it could not have been possible without the undying passion and dedication of Mickey Weems Kamel and Bezold ground their music in the intricacies of maqam, the classical system of melodic modes in Arab music and Amercian rock. "I went through a punk phase," he recalled, but was not satisfied with American music and the instruments with which he had become familiar, first the violin as a child, then the guitar. Eventually, he encountered his true love, the buzuq, a long necked string instrument found in Syria and Lebanon. As rooted as he is in classical Arabic music, one might suspect that his second love is innovation. But he finds much of his energy is dedicated to resurrection. This multitasking duo, City of DJinn create post-Tarab - a longform sonic tapestry of dark, psychedelic, drone rock that draws from experimental music vernacular as well maqam tradition. Their arsenal of instruments ranges from electric buzuq, modified quarter-tone acoustic-electric guitar, violin, fretless electric guitar, foot pedal drums/cymbals, darbuka, daf, DIY stompbox and samplers. https://cityofdjinn.bandcamp.com/releaseshttps://somnimage.bandcamp.com/album/city-of-djinnSubscribe to my monthly mailing list for the latest music news, updates and my next interviews and events:http://eepurl.com/gtw6PPQUEEN OF WANDS with DJ Nocturna Every Saturday on Modsnap RadioKMOD: San Antonio"San Antonio's leading alternative streaming Radio Station since 2017"Listen : http://modsnapradio.comPlaylist and podcast: https://djnocturna.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DJNocturna2pm (HST), 5pm (PST), 6pm (MST), 7pm (CST), 8pm (EST)
