San Francisco's property tax appeals just EXPLODED to the highest level since the Great Recession, with owners demanding $52.3 BILLION in valuation cuts. Is anyone surprised when buildings are selling for 90% discounts? From the Warriors seeking $1 billion off Chase Center's assessment to Salesforce Tower asking for $564 million in reductions, the city's facing a $600 million potential tax revenue wipeout while already drowning in an $800 million deficit. Officials claim a potential 'turnaround' while commercial vacancy rates hover at a staggering 34% and taxpayers foot the bill for their delusions. Is this the bottom of the doom loop, or just another chapter in the city's financial free fall? Like, share, and subscribe to keep up with the government waste your local officials don't want you to see.
Property tax reform has been a priority of Governor Mike Braun's administration from Day 1 of this year's General Assembly session. Senate Bill 1 limits the property tax revenue Indiana counties receive by providing relief on property tax assessments. And while homeowners and businesses will see some relief, local governments are preparing for potential staff and service cuts due to the loss of revenue from the state. Monroe County alone is projected to earn about $37 million less in revenue over the next three years, according to the state's latest fiscal analysis. Read more: County says it cannot do more with less City and county officials said the bill puts the onus on local municipalities to make up the deficit. “Because the state legislators who supported SB1 were too cowardly — and yes, I choose that word purposefully — to do their jobs, local governments are going to have to raise local income taxes to make up deficits. We're not going to have a choice,” said Monroe County Commissioner Jody Madeira. The uncertainty with the loss of funding loss is already having an effect. Monroe County Council Member Peter Iversen said the council does not want to make a financial promise that it cannot fulfill in five or 10 months. And that could mean hiring freezes and stagnant salaries. Read more: Salary request discussion leads to tense exchange at county council meeting The property tax bill will also affect the amount of money going to public schools. On this week's Noon Edition, we'll discuss the property tax law and the impact it will have on local communities. Join us on the air by calling 812-855-0811 or toll-free at 1-877-285-9348. A Clare Government senator insists a new Model 3 hospital in the Midwest region can be funded without dipping into the Apple tax windfall. Speculation around how the State will spend the €14 billion in Apple tax revenue is continuing unabated as the Taoiseach has told members of his party that the money's use will be revealed on Budget Day. It's now over a week since the European Commission ruled that Apple must come up with the €13 billion in tax it failed to pay to the Irish Government. The ruling was the culmination of a long-running legal battle in which Ireland took the side of Apple. In 2016, the lower General Court of the European Court of Justice found that the American multinational corporation had underpaid taxes due to Ireland amounting to €13.1 billion between 2003 and 2014 which was a decision both Apple and the Government took umbrage at. Following the latest ruling, it's been confirmed the total amount in the third party account containing tax money owed by Apple is now €14.1 billion. Speaking in the Dáil, Finance Minister Jack Chambers has defended the Government's approach to the legal battle, claiming the case was "complex" and that the goal was to protect Ireland's tax sovereignty. Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty has challenged this position, saying it's incredible the State fought so hard not to receive such a large amount of money given the service deficits in Ireland across multiple sectors. With calls coming from all sides for the windfall to be put towards improvements in health, housing, infrastructure and countless other areas, Taoiseach Simon Harris has told a Fine Gael party meeting that its use will be made known in Budget 2025 on October 1st. Sources close to the Taoiseach say he's suggested it will go towards infrastructure and investments which can "create a better future" but that the money will not fund day-to-day costs. Chief Executive of Ireland's Foreign Direct Investment Agency Michael Lohan says infrastructure in particular is essential to attract companies from abroad. Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has this week called for a portion of the tax windfall to be set aside as funding for a new Model 3 hospital in the region. The Government has yet to commit to such a facility, with the findings of a HIQA review examining the need for a second emergency department in the region not expected to be released until May 2025. Tulla Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley insists the new emergency department should be in Clare but claims the State has enough in its coffers already to develop a funding stream.

HR3 How the Government is After 65 Million Americans for More Tax Revenue. | CO GOP Troubles 1-10-24 by John Rush
The recent trend of millionaires leaving California has sparked significant concerns about the state's tax revenue and economic stability. In 2023, California witnessed a notable population decline, with the exodus of wealthy residents being particularly impactful. This shift is attributed to several factors, including high taxes, cost of living, and suboptimal services, driving individuals to seek better prospects in states like Texas and Florida. As these affluent individuals leave, California faces a potential $68 billion budget deficit and risks losing crucial tax income, which is heavily reliant on this demographic. The state's reliance on top earners and expansive government programs compounds the issue, potentially leading to long-term economic repercussions and challenging the sustainability of its financial structure. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/darien-dunstan3/message
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, a Democrat, has come under fire for planning a “no whites” Christmas Party that specifically sought to exclude white members of the city government. California's funding from gas taxes will drop by nearly $6 billion in the next decade due to the state's electric car rules and other climate programs, “likely resulting in a decline in highway conditions for drivers,” according to a new state analysis released today. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on Wednesday that “credible sources” have informed lawmakers that information on UFOs has been improperly kept away from Congress. Tom welcomes Bob Coleman CEO of Idaho Armored Vaults back to the show. Bob discusses some of the shifts and patterns in the precious metals market this year. He explains that the increase in SLV shares by authorized participants does not necessarily reflect an influx of new investors or a rise in silver purchases. Rather, it could simply indicate the moving of existing supplies. Due to low physical volume, borrowing costs, and short positions in the futures market, sentiment levels have been fluctuating and frustrating investors. Bob also identifies factors such as rising interest rates and competition for assets as key contributors to the lack of physical demand. He notes that as the current trading range for metals continues, the potential for a significant breakout or breakdown also increases. Bob advises investors to stick to buying physical metal and paying in cash rather than using leverage or options, as the market often holds unexpected surprises. Bob reminds listeners to let the information come to them instead of trying to predict the market. He notes that the past months have seen little significant news, leading to a stagnant market. Some investors may not be fully aware of what goes into the digital silver representation of certain financial instruments, presenting a problem for the market. As money shifts away from one asset, it must find a new place to go, and this process takes time to understand. Bob also mentions the current trend of central banks buying gold and how this could impact the market during a crisis. He believes that the silver market, in particular, is oversimplified with an emphasis on paper investments, and that current physical support is growing, but many investors have lost interest due to the absence of news. Bob also mentions the rise in production costs for silver, potentially contributing to its current price compared to other assets. He suggests that rising costs, specifically for copper and gold, could be future factors to push up gold and silver prices. Bob's technical analysis of the silver and gold charts leads him to predict that September could be an interesting month for precious metals, as it tends to be seasonally weak for both metals and the stock market. He also speculates on the possibility of informal controls in China to curb imports and support their currency, leading to a disparity in premiums between the Chinese and Western markets. Bob concludes by noting that physical premiums have dropped significantly in the past year, with American Silver Eagles being the only product with enduring pricing power. He believes that this could lead to a balancing of the market and a potential surge in new buyers, and comments on the Silver Symposium's history of marking low points for silver prices in the past two years. Proposing a flat 10% federal income tax while instituting a 10% national sales tax (with rebates for the first $20k of purchases annually), his hybrid solution provides an innovative and effective economic plan that increases tax revenue, capitalizes on foreign national tourist spending, and offers progressive tax relief for low-income families.James also delves into topics such as foreign & domestic policy, the national defense budget, the strength of the US dollar's role in the global economy, and how America's dominance in technology and innovation cements the United States' role as a global superpower. Each week, James will be answering user-submitted questions from the web form, Twitter queries, and submissions via NotePd.com------------What do YOU think of the show?
