Tim is an accomplished hunter and outdoor survivalists and has been from a very early age. Tim founded the tv show SOLO HNTR, which at the time was unlike any other hunting show. “ I want my viewers to feel the experience rather than just see it.” SOLO HNTR is now a national brand and Tim is working relentlessly to capitalize on its popularity. Tim sits down with Chad to discuss the daily commitment it has taken to visualize a national television idea and turn it into something that people can’t live without it. This episode is brought to you by the Bone Collector North American Whitetail Championships and Mathews Bows.
Tim is a family man and puts them first in all aspects of life. It’s not a secret that he is also very passionate about the outdoors and spending as much time in them as possible, which to him is a normal part of his self-sufficient lifestyle. The love and passion for the outdoors all started for Tim at the age of 12. He would simply grab a backpack, sleeping bag, fishing pole or rifle, and go give her hell. More often than not, he ventured out alone, with the solitude of the outdoors calling his name. His camera days started in college when he bought the best camera he could afford and began filming his steel head fishing trips. The idea behind SOLO HNTR was to be different. “I want my viewers to feel the experience rather than just see it.” And boy do he and his co-hosts deliver on that. In this episode we cover: Tim asks me a few questions about myself Chat a little about editing His life behind the scenes of SOLO HNTR and how he balances family, hunting, destination hunts and what is most important His kids and hunting A little about his sheep hunt The most overlooked aspect of filming a hunt The most uncomfortable situations for him when hunting, the kind that make his skin crawl Experiences when running into other hunters His most rewarding hunt to date and why More From Tim: Instagram: @solohntr @solohntrbrand Website: https://solohntr.com/ YOUTUBE: ‘Archery Maniacs’ Our YouTube channel consists of ‘Hunting’ videos, ‘Gear Reviews’, ‘How To’ videos, ‘Bloopers’, ‘Kill Shot Compilations’, and more. If you’ve never been to the Sheep Show, you’re missing out. It’s one hell of an event that brings together the best mountain hunters in the world and raises a pile of money for conservation. In between entering raffles to win sheep hunts, live shows and fancy banquets I caught up with Warren and Burnett to talk tag draw strategies, Nevada living, sheep hunts and test out some new segments for the show. Enjoy. Connect with Ben and MeatEater Ben on Instagram MeatEater on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube Shop MeatEater Merch See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Solo Hunter, Tim Burnett, joins us on this episode. The topics we cover with Tim are far-ranging, and move well beyond what you might expect. We collected numerous listener questions for Tim before this show, and those questions focused primarily around advice for hunting solo, some aspects of filming hunts, and more general hunting tactics. But this conversation goes well beyond those topics and is sure to give you something to think about. Learn more at http://ExoMountainGear.com/podcast
In this episode Brian sits down with Solo hunter's Tim Burnett. The guys talk about Hunting solo and hunting with buddies. They compare the advantages and disadvantages of both. They also talk about thin line that separates being aggressive and being patient. They also get into experience, learning from it and improving your hunting instincts. A great conversation between a couple passionate hunters.

Hey friends! Today on Gritty I’m hanging with my good buddy Tim Burnett--the SOLO HNTR brand OG. We recorded this podcast at my house after returning from our Oklahoma Whitetail hunt. Tim is one of my favorite people to hang out with. He’s gonna have fun, but he’s not gonna talk your ear off--in fact, you kinda have to drag words out of him. So it was not a surprise to me when I found out that Tim created a podcast for the SOLO NATION with more than 15 recorded episodes and I didn’t know about it. I’m all about more SOLO HNTR. If you’re like me, go and subscribe to the SOLO HNTR podcast and get some! So here it is… a final Oklahoma Whitetail podcast recording session with Mr. SOLO himself, before he road off into the sunset in the aged and crippled Solorado.

Living Country in the City sits down with Tim Burnett of SOLO HNTR about influencing others to get into the outdoors, trying to piss off the fewest people possible, his hunting heroes, lots of followers not equaling quality content, the benefits and downsides of hunting solo, focusing on positivity, essential gear and people getting butthurt when he's not hunting alone 100% of the time. Today on Gritty, I’m on location in Oklahoma with Tim Burnett. We’re on a whitetail hunt in Oklahoma. And I’m trying to self-film my hunt. And… it’s not so easy. Tim shares his philosophy on self-filming. And we stray from the subject of self-filming hunts to the topic of so-called trophy hunting--and the propensity of weak people to fault-find and criticize others to make themselves feel better about their own lives. Because if you can hate on a post about a kid’s first bull elk, you’ve got problems and I’m not afraid to say, “grow-up” and “get a life.” Stop saying things that make you weak. And figure yourself out. Too many people assume the problems of the world are someone else's fault. A true person tries to change him or herself, which is more difficult and less grand. If we all focused on fixing ourselves instead of trying to fix everybody else the world would be a better place. And if you think you don’t have anything to fix--think again. Evil is the force that believes its knowledge is complete. The reality is this: •Everybody acts out a myth, •but very few people know what their myth is. •And you should know what your myth is, •because it might be a tragedy. • And maybe you don't want it to be.

Today on Gritty, I am joined by Tim Burnett, aka SOLO HUNTER and we talk about branding, marketing and business. Tim and I are in the business of content creation and so our branding and marketing discussion leans that direction. I really like Tim--he’s got a “what you see is what you get” personality that I find refreshing. And he doesn’t over complicate things--words like, “don’t be a jackass” are pretty easy to comprehend. Nonetheless, in classic fashion, I ask him to elaborate on the “jackass” statement just to be sure I fully understand it. I ask Tim how Solo started. What’s the biggest mistake people make when creating a brand name. We talk about our objectives when we create content. And we talk about the importance of good business partners and how you know whether you have a good one or not. We agree that media consumption habits differ greatly from platform to platform, for example., from TV to FB to Instagram to Youtube to Twitter--and people have preferred platforms. We discuss the differences between platforms and we share our thoughts on how our messaging differs from platform to platform. This isn’t all we talk about, but this intro gives you a good idea of what this show is about. I hope you find this episode helpful. In today’s world, nearly everyone is a content creator of some sort. So I don’t believe this episode is just for those trying to build a brand per se. This episode can help those who are actively involved in promoting the hunting life, conservation and life values. Finally, please know that Tim and I are by no means experts in marketing or content creation--we just know what has worked for us and we share it on this podcast. For those who want to learn more about these topics, I recommend that you read the following books: The Thank You Economy, Crush It, and Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk. And for those wanting to start a new career and chase a more meaningful job, check-out the book START, by Jon Acuff. In this book, “Jon Explores the five stages every life goes through on the path to awesome and looks at what it takes to punch fear in the face, escape average and do work that matters.”

Founder of the Solo Hntr TV show and brand, Tim Burnett is no stranger to backcountry hunting. Tim has packed in solo since he was a kid, now packing a camera to self-film most of his hunts. Solo Hntr TV show has been extremely popular on The Outdoor Channel. Above all, however, Tim is a family man first. We discuss his hunting experience growing up, hunting with his kids, and business decisions. Tim has also recently started the Solo Hntr podcast that is quickly turned into one of my favorites! This is the first episode I had a guest co-host, my brother Jason Wittwer. Enjoy!

On this episode of Gritty Bowmen we hang out with friend, Tim Burnett of SOLO HNTR. Earlier this year, I showed Tim a film I was working on to get his opinion on my edit of the film. Long story short, the hunt is a solo blacktail deer hunt. Tim asked me if I wanted to share my film on his TV Show, SOLO HNTR, and the rest is history. The film first debuted at the Full Draw Film Tour earlier this year. But now you can see the film on the SOLO HNTR TV Show that airs this week, starting August 9th on the Outdoor Channel. For more TV show times, go to SOLOHNTR.com or look-up SOLO HNTR on the Outdoor Channel. But if you’re like me, and you don’t really do the TV thing, Tim crushes it on Youtube. You can find a ton of great of content on the SOLO HNTR website and the SOLO HNTR Youtube channel. If you miss my film on the TV show, you can still see it when Tim posts it to YouTube. I hope you enjoy this podcast. I always enjoy hanging out with Tim Burnett. Tim is real. What you see is what you get and I find that refreshing.

Joe Rogan is a podcaster, UFC commentator, stand-up comedian and HUNTER. Joe’s podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience, is a powerhouse. Joe has been an avid hunter Since his first hunting trip with Steven Rinella on the MeatEater show, titled First Timers, Montona Mule Deer, which aired in April 2013. On his podcast, Rogan has interviewed such people as Jim Shockey, Steven Rinellla, Tim Burnett, Remi Warren, and more. Joe has a massive non-hunting audience that loves his show. And he’s been able to use his platform to educate the non-hunting community about how hunting is conservation… about how hunting saves wildlife and wild places. He’s a gifted interviewer, entertainer, and with the help of his good friend Cameron Hanes, I’ve no doubt he’s become a skilled hunter as well… as long as he doesn’t talk to much… so i’ve heard from Cameron. I don’t think Cameron needs an introduction to the Gritty Community… but here goes anyway for you new hunters or for those of you who live under a rock. Cameron Hanes is a bowhunting fool. And he trains year-round, always pushing his body to failure and beyond. He grew up “getting it done” on public land with elk and deer and bear… today, he continues to inspire both hunters and would-be hunters everyday. In the middle of this podcast somehwere, we lost a camera angle for a couple minutes--like 10 minutes. Cameron is cut-off the screen… sorry Cam. This is a fun podcast--you’ve got Joe Rogan, Cameron Hanes, and Aron Snyder, all on the show. If you don’t like the show, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Solo Hunter is Gritty. The raw, Do It Yourself Nature of the show really appeals to me. In the show, Tim and Remi Warren are both the hunter AND the cameraman. That’s intense. I can barely film a hunt when we’ve got a full-time cameraman--I can’t even imagine trying to pull it off while trying to shoot an animal. Tim was easy to talk to. And he’s pretty much the same guy you see on the show--real gritty and down to earth. http://solohntr.com
