Back in 2011 I started this podcast. Sense then it's gone through many changes. It turned into an actual radio show on KIRO FM in Seattle for a couple of years. I had some great guests, invited friends on and went it alone. Gary was one of my first guests and the information holds up. I'll be back with new shows on January 7th. In last week's episode, we talked about Home Depot's value of "Power Hour," a customer-service value that has seen a great deal of success in the company. But what happens when that value slips at different levels of the organization? What if the value isn't emphasized or it's overlooked for a period of time? Pastor Q responds to Home Depot employee complaints & talks about how to inspire and uphold the values that matter most. At the end of the day, it's all about what motivates you. Enjoy!
Many of us operate by the book. By following what others are doing, we often think that we can also reproduce their success. But if everyone is doing the same things, success becomes stagnant and far from reach. A law firm is just like any other business — tried and tested methods work, but you don't have to rely on them all the way. Break away from the blueprint; take the road less travelled and carve your path. It will be scary, and it will be challenging. But it will open the doors to your success. In this episode, immigration lawyer Jacob Sapochnick joins us to share his journey in starting and running a law firm. The guiding principle that helped him find success is to do what others are not doing. He shares helpful advice in managing employees, building teams, fostering leads, and systemizing the business process. Jacob also shares the reason why you should start giving away resources for free. This episode is for you if you want to know the best practices to implement to run your law firm or business the enchanting way! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Find out why steering away from the herd opens doors to winning opportunities. Learn how you can apply the three principles of the enchanting way to your law firm or business. Discover the benefits of giving away resources for free. Resources Enchanting Lawyer Podcast My American Job by Jacob Sapochnick Visa Lawyer Blog Jacob's YouTube Channel InfusionSoft SweetProcess Youtility by Jay Baer Nice Companies Finish First by Peter Shankman The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk Social Media Marketing World Enchanting Lawyer Podcast Episode 50: Leadership, Excellence and Giving with Dr. William Dorfman Choose Yourself! by James Altucher Episode Highlights Starting His Law Firm If there's no tool or information about something you need, you have to make or do it. He started his law firm in 2004. He did it because he wasn't happy with his job, and he wanted to do something on his own. Attorneys fall into the same patterns when starting a practice and marketing, making it difficult to find success. Jacob realized that he shouldn't follow the herd when it comes to his law firm. Starting a Legal Blog He started one of the first legal blogs in California, called the Visa Lawyer Blog. Three to four months after starting the blog, he got a call from Fox News. They needed an immigration expert for the evening news. Doing things differently created an opportunity for him to be in the media, including newspapers and other TV stations. Shifting to Other Platforms When blogging became common for attorneys, Jacob decided to do something different. He started posting videos on YouTube in 2010. He also realized that no attorney was using Facebook, so he started using it. Within a year, he was able to build a proprietary community on Facebook with over 117,000 members. You will not have to compete with anybody if you build your audience. Jacob's law firm gets four to five leads a day from Facebook alone. Nurturing Leads and Employees Once you figure out how to get leads, you have to provide the level of service they deserve. When employees are happy, they're able to provide good service to the customers. How you treat employees matters more than how much money you pay them. When you are nice to your employees, they are nice to the customers. Jacob started a freedom policy. If somebody can't make it to work for whatever reason, they have to make it up once they already can. Giving employees validation gives them ownership of the law firm where they work. Three Principles of the Enchanting Way Generate leads: You have to provide free, valuable, and consistent content. Systemize: Set up a system to direct leads throughout different channels. Empower employees to make decisions: This will lead to improved retention levels, and clients will feel more comfortable doing transactions with them. Listen to the full episode to learn more about the importance of empowering employees and avoiding being a policeman at your law firm or business! Navigating the Biggest Challenges The key is learning how to deal with people. If you can't assess the personality of the employee you're working with, you won't connect level-to-level. When interviewing people for a position at his law firm, Jacob asks uncommon questions to connect with the applicant. Systemization is key. Jacob learned that you have to immediately change a process when it doesn't work. Jacob's law firm uses SweetProcess to document and share their processes with the team. Jacob's Book Recommendations Youtility by Jay Baer talks about marketing as a utility to help people as opposed to pushing sales. Tune in to the episode to discover the apps Jacob created, following the principles of Youtility! Nice Companies Finish First by Peter Shankman is about customer service. The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk changed the way Jacob deals with his business. Building a Team Listen to your team members and implement their ideas. When you do, they feel that they can trust you. You have to build trust; empowerment cannot happen until there's trust. Then, you can start assigning team leaders and do trial projects that the team can take on. Instead of preaching, give control during meetings by delegating people. Tune in to the episode to discover what team culture looks like in Jacob's law firm! Jacob's Winning Habits The most critical things for Jacob are to listen, be patient, and be nice. Being nice to his employees helped create an alliance between them. Having these traits have helped him face a lot of failures, focus, and guide other attorneys. The Best Advice He Has Gotten Do what others are not doing; do the opposite of what people in your field are doing. Don't reinvent the wheel; copy the best things others are doing and put your unique spin on it. Why You Should Give Away Resources for Free You can overwhelm the public by providing so much value. Then they subconsciously perceive you as an expert. Jacob puts articles, videos, podcasts, and other resources because he wants to help people. People can find information online today whether you give it to them or not. Tune in to the episode to learn about Jacob's new experiment around referring competitor law firms! Jacob believes that you're providing more value for yourself by giving away resources because people will come to you anyway. Life Lessons Learned Jacob learned not to dwell over failures. Choose Yourself! by James Altucher says that nothing else will work around you if you don't choose yourself. The book recommends writing down ten ideas every day as a way of training your brain. Jacob's coffee shop concept came from applying this practice. 2 Powerful Quotes “You really have to find a way that the employees feel that you care about them, because then once they feel that, then they will go out there and do the same to your customers.” “What you do is you overwhelm the public by providing so much value, that they perceive you as an expert in their subconscious, where there's no other way anybody can convince them not to hire you.” About Jacob Jacob Sapochnick is an immigration lawyer and savvy marketer who enjoys combining law, technology, and social media to educate people. As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Jacob had spoken several times on immigration law topics at various national and international conferences. If you walk into any Home Depot around 10:00am on a weekday, you’ll likely hear an announcement that Power Hour is beginning. This customer service initiative popularized by CEO Frank Blake in 2010 inspired one of our values at theChapel. Every week, we take intentional time to pray for, recognize, and celebrate people who are making a difference in our organization! Even if you're not leading a church, don't forget that your business is still the people business. Customer service matters. And saying "THANK YOU?" That's not just an act of goodwill, but it builds influence & trust. Who can you "power hour" today?

The Thank You Economy is about something big, something greater than any single revolutionary platform. It isn't some abstract concept or wacky business strategy—it's real, and every one of us is doing business in it every day, whether we choose to recognize it or not. It's the way we communicate, the way we buy and sell, the way businesses and consumers interact online and offline. The Internet, where The Thank You Economy was born, has given consumers back their voice, and the tremendous power of their opinions via social media means that companies and brands have to compete on a whole different level than they used to.

“Gary Vaynerchuk has seen the future of marketing. The Thank You Economy shows how it's built on both the time-honored techniques of listening to and appreciating customers and newer services like Twitter that allow you to engage directly with customers at unprecedented scale and speed. The book, like Gary, is also a lot of fun and full of passion.” —Dick Costolo, former CEO, Twitter I accept that Gary Vaynerchuk (aka Gary Vee) is not everyone's cup of tea. However, this is a very good book. Is there a place for love in business? We have been conditioned to believe that love does not have a place in business. Love is reserved solely for our personal relationships. But why can this not be extended into the business world? This is what ‘Love Is Just Damn Good Business' by @steve.farber examines. Using Steve's LEAP framework (Love, Energy, Audacity and Proof) we are better able to understand why love rules above the rest. The book is full of practical examples about how we can increase our self-awareness of not only how we define love but also how to create this for ourselves. The book makes us recondition how we define love in the business world. To care for your staff, customers and the community is to love your business as well as value its ability to make money. For the individual it is asking how they want to fulfil their potential. It starts with asking the right questions. Rather than asking, “What's my passion?” ask “What gives me purpose?”. This slight change in phraseology has a huge impact on our ability to cultivate our passion. Why I like this book is because it affirms a pre-existing idea that I subscribe to. That idea is that passions aren't found they are created. Only through diligent and persistent action can you cultivate a passion that lasts. Most people sit back and wait for their passions to find them, however often it is due to a lack of action that they cannot find it. I would say that the ideal reader for this book is a business leader or an ambitious employee. Whether you run a large corporate organisation, a small start-up or you just entered the job market, having an awareness of how love ( I prefer the use of kindness) determines the longevity of business is crucial. This book also has similarities to ‘The Thank You Economy' by @garyvee, so I would definitely check out that book as well if you're interested in this topic. What are my top 5 favorite gratitude books? Thank you for asking! I love these 5 books because they all inspire me to take ACTION. Each ones shows you different ways to practice gratitude. It's not simply having an attitude of gratitude, it's about choosing to practice gratitude and make it a daily habit. In the order I shared them on the podcast: Thank & Grow Rich, A 30-Day Experiment in Shameless Gratitude and Unabashed Joy by Pam Grout. I met Gary Vaynerchuk back in 2008 and was instantly on Team Gary V because of Gary's enthusiasm for life and business. When his book The Thank You Economy debuted it really struck a chord with me how everything and nothing has changed about business and human nature. We all want to be connected to something or someone. And gratitude while taking the high rode is something everyone can agree is a key ingredient to a successful business.
Here is another redo of a prior episode of the podcast. This one highlights a non magician, Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, GQ, and Time, has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Ellen. He also makes regular appearances on Fox News, MSNBC, CNN and the major network news outlets. Vaynerchuk has been described as "the first wine guru of the YouTube era", "the wine world's new superstar", and by Rob Newsom, a Washington State wine maker, "outside of Robert Parker, probably the most influential wine critic in the United States". Gary is also a best selling author of three books focused on the concept of personal branding and the power of social media and the internet in doing so. He joins us on the Magic Newswire to discuss his latest book "The Thank You Economy." Gary says, "I feel that we're living through the biggest culture shift of our time. The internet, itself, is 17-years-old. It's just hitting the social part of its life. It's just like growing up. As you get to 13, 14 and 15, you want to go out and go to parties. That's what's happening right now! The internet is growing up." Find out why this should matter to you!

This is the second of the Gary's New York Times bestseller books. The book explains the tactics that businesses can use to provide real value to consumers in what he terms the ‘Thank You' economy. In the book, Gary explains that social media has given the power of voice back to consumers, making businesses volatile to any public issues. He explains that businesses that understand the use of social media as a gateway to provide value alongside closer contact with customers rather than a way to gain likes will win in the Thank You Economy. I really enjoyed reading this book as it gave me a real insight into what a leader in the current entrepreneurial environment is thinking about when running his business. This book would provide value for businesses owners in any industry as well as those who are thinking about establishing their own enterprise in the digital age. Today on Gritty, I am joined by Tim Burnett, aka SOLO HUNTER and we talk about branding, marketing and business. Tim and I are in the business of content creation and so our branding and marketing discussion leans that direction. I really like Tim--he’s got a “what you see is what you get” personality that I find refreshing. And he doesn’t over complicate things--words like, “don’t be a jackass” are pretty easy to comprehend. Nonetheless, in classic fashion, I ask him to elaborate on the “jackass” statement just to be sure I fully understand it. I ask Tim how Solo started. What’s the biggest mistake people make when creating a brand name. We talk about our objectives when we create content. And we talk about the importance of good business partners and how you know whether you have a good one or not. We agree that media consumption habits differ greatly from platform to platform, for example., from TV to FB to Instagram to Youtube to Twitter--and people have preferred platforms. We discuss the differences between platforms and we share our thoughts on how our messaging differs from platform to platform. This isn’t all we talk about, but this intro gives you a good idea of what this show is about. I hope you find this episode helpful. In today’s world, nearly everyone is a content creator of some sort. So I don’t believe this episode is just for those trying to build a brand per se. This episode can help those who are actively involved in promoting the hunting life, conservation and life values. Finally, please know that Tim and I are by no means experts in marketing or content creation--we just know what has worked for us and we share it on this podcast. For those who want to learn more about these topics, I recommend that you read the following books: 1.The Thank You Economy, Crush It, and Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk. 2.And for those wanting to start a new career and chase a more meaningful job, check-out the book START, by Jon Acuff. In this book, “Jon Explores the five stages every life goes through on the path to awesome and looks at what it takes to punch fear in the face, escape average and do work that matters.”
In this episode, we talk with The Tech Rabbi: Michael Cohen. Michael is a designer and technologist turned educator. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator and Google Certified Trainer who advocates, speaks, writes, and facilitates workshops on creativity and innovation. He works with schools on a local and national level to help them develop a creative mindset to influence and empower individuals in becoming confident and passionate problem solvers. You can hear Michael’s story of creativity and innovation through social media, and conferences such as Apple Education Events, EdTechTeacher Summits, iPadpalooza, ISTE, and SXSWEdu. He holds a Master of Science Education (Educational Technology) from California State University-Fullerton and a Bachelors of Fine Art (Printmaking and Design) from California State University-Long Beach. Gary Vaynerchuk is the CEO of VaynerMedia which is one of the world’s hottest digital companies, and the host of the #AskGaryVee Show. He is also the author of four New York Time’s bestselling books including Crush It!, The Thank You Economy, Jab Jab Jab Right Hook, and #AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneurs Take on Leadership Social Media, and Self-Awareness. When Gary was fresh out of college he took his family’s wine business and grew it from a 3 million dollar a year business to a 60 million dollar a year business. He did this in just five years. He is also a prolific angel investor and a venture capitalist investing in companies like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Uber, and BirchBox before eventually co-founding Vayner/RSE, a 25 million dollar investment fund. In today’s show, we talk about how Gary was approached by a publisher and got his first book deal. We also discuss Gary’s feelings on self-publishing, and what it means to Gary to build a brand. We also touch on business and book promoting tactics that Gary used to become as successful as he is today. Gary also talks about the importance of finding what you are good at and the important concept of “hustle” and just putting in the work. I'm so pumped to give you my takeaways from this amazing book. I want to Thank you, Katie Donnelly, for gifting me this book. She’s my co-host on another podcast “Lingerie Success" and she is awesome. This book has become on of my favorite business books. This is going to be a permanent item on my top book collection. Gary vee for those of you that don’t know built his reputation in the Wine Industry, he took his fathers business from a liquor store and grew it into a 60million dollar empire and is now a rock star in the marketing world and consults with some of the top 100 companies in the world through his agency VaynerMedia. Like Charles Duhigg from my last review, I had a chance to meet with Gary at Inbound 2016 in Boston and he packs an ultra energetic punch, he is like a human energizer bunny. This book is an extension of that. He presents case studies and observation both present and future of real-time businnes, to really recognize the extreme importance of lifetime customer value and simply out-caring our competitors in business.

We all have way too much on our to-do-lists. Trying to determine what takes priority can be difficult. In this episode, Jeff and Kristin discuss how to prioritize all the things you need to get done. Often, we try to get everything done at the same time and end up getting nothing meaningful done. Knowing your priorities is an important step to finding the meaningful tasks in your business. Your top priorities should always be products and people. Products include everything you sell. If you don't have something that will generate income, you won't be in business for long. People are those who will assist your business and those who will become customers. Focusing on relationship building is an important part of your business. How much time are you focusing on it? Don't get caught up in perfection. Don't get caught up in the technology. There are always ways to simplify the process so you can get started easily. If you are getting bogged down in the details, tells us about it in the Facebook group. Jeff and I are always here to help. This week Cut The Crap Podcast features the marketing book, 'The Thank You Economy." The Thank You Economy, by Gary Vaynerchuk, encourages executives, marketers, sales professionals, and entrepreneurs to rethink how they use social media and challenges many of the beliefs we have about using certain platforms. This book was directly responsible for TWO innovations that I am now running with, so I hope you are able to take something incredibly insightful from it as well! There were 4 Golden Nuggets taken from 'The Thank You Economy'. Go to CutTheCrapPodcast.com and sign up to receive Mind Maps from each episode that will highlight all of the golden nuggets shared that week in the podcast. “You've got to know what you are good at — that’s the game. If I had a potion that could allow somebody to become fundamentally self-aware and know what they’re good at, they would all win.”Gary VaynerchukNobody works harder — and smarter — than Gary Vaynerchuk. That's because the maniac known online as Gary Vee operates on one mode and one mode only: full blast. Gregarious, confident and incomparably charismatic, Gary is never at a loss for opinions on everything from the future of social media and the preeminent importance of authenticity to his almost antiquated but refreshing take on the importance, power and relevance of a committed work ethic – a welcome breath of fresh air that stands in stark contradiction to our pervasive, myopic lifehack culture — a regrettable, technocrat popular trend that woefully overvalues false promise short cuts to success over passion, service and fidelity to the journey.Internet omnipotent with over 1.2 million followers on Twitter, 500K+ Facebook friends and a vast and loyal YouTube subscriber base, I suspect many of you are already daily consumers of Gary's persistent, relentless feed of videos, blog posts, social media updates, Snapchat stories and live casts. For those unfamiliar, Gary is a Belarus-born entrepreneur, venture capitalist and CEO of NYC-based VaynerMedia, one of the fastest growing digital ad & marketing agencies in the world.A mainstay on YouTube, Gary hosts the hugely popular #AskGaryVee Show and dons protagonist duties on #TheDailyVee, a surprisingly hypnotic, behind the scenes gander into Gary’s everyday business life. You've seen him profiled in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Time and Fortune's annual list of 40 under 40. You've watched him on Late Night With Conan O’Brien and Ellen. And maybe you've even read one his three New York Times bestselling books, Crush It*,Jab, Jab, Jab*, Right Hook*,The Thank You Economy* and now #AskGaryVee* – his newest offering which hits bookstores everywhere March 8. A compelling and entertaining distillation of practical, timeless workplace advice on entrepreneurship and management for anyone launching their own company, working in digital media, starting their first job or simply seeking inspiration, Gary's fourth book is certain to be a massive, ubiquitous success.A legitimate marketing & business genius, Gary is a kick in the pants – loud, irreverent and unconventional. But he’s also incredibly warm, personable and quite giving when it comes to freely sharing a seemingly endless stream of good ideas, tools and strategies he credits as part and parcel of his personal success equation.Conversing with Gary is a bit like trying to wrangle a wild horse, so this one is a bit all over the place. Risk Without Regret: Stories from Risk Takers, Inspiring Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners
I love it when people reach out to me about being on the podcast, which is exactly what this episode's featured guest did. Fat Tony is a 33 year old freelance photographer and entrepreneur from Long Beach, California. As soon as the call started, I could tell this was gonna be a super exciting and entertaining episode to be a part of. As well as the type of episode I couldn't wait to share with you, so here we are! He's been to 35 countries, he landed his dream job right out of college at one of the top magazines in the world, and everything seemed to be going just as he planned. But then he just wasn't feeling it anymore, he was searching for new dreams. With no plan B or safety net, most people would be terrified. Not this guy. Hhe quit his job and went straight back to traveling around the globe like a badass!Well I don't wanna give too much away, so hit that play button below and get to know Fat Tony's story and what he's currently working on. This is an episode you won't stop listening to, so get comfy or turn the cruise control on in your car, and enjoy!Subscribe to the podcast!Featured products/services:Ask. by Ryan Levesque. I finished this book in less than 2 days. I was so interested in the content and I literally couldn't put it down. The first half talks about his story and the second half explains the "Ask Formula" that he's developed. It's basically about asking questions to prospects, getting them into a really advanced sales funnel, and then transitioning them into customers through a series of surveys and stories. But it's all about asking the right questions, which most businesses don't do, which means they think they know what customers want when they actually don't. So if this sounds interesting to you, go check it out at here!Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk. The second book is by one of my favorite entrepreneurs and this is his 3rd book. I've talked about his first book before called Crush It!, and I have his second book on my Amazon Wishlist called The Thank You Economy, and now I just started reading this one a couple days ago. It's all about how to tell your story in a noisy social world. The title of the book means that, just like boxing, you want to throw a few small punches before you throw the big knockout punch. So that means a few subtle soft sells then a more direct sell. It's about building trust with your community and speaking the native language for each individual social media platform. I'll have this book done in a few days and I'll be anxiously awaiting his next book which is due out in March. But if you want to grab this book and really ramp up your social media strategy, just visit this link now!Show notes:[04:45] Tell us who you are...[05:50] Did you go to college for photo/video?I realized that the designer sits at a computer all day and a photographer travels the world and does a bunch of cool shit.[07:05] Did you do freelance work while you had a fulltime job?I got a taste of this lifestyle, of this freedom, and world travel, and adventure. That was really what made me think, eventually I want to have a life more like this.[09:55] Seems like you have the world traveler life for sure now. Do you?I definitely got bit by the travel bug when I was at the job because I was getting paid to do the traveling. You can have a great time in a shitty place or you can have a shitty time in a great place, depending on who you're with and your experiences while you're there.[15:15] How did you get into the vegan lifestyle? If you don't know what the ingredients are, don't put it in your body.[18:40] Have you always been a person that goes to the gym?[23:00] Talk about the 5th grade family trip in NYC and how you fell in love with photography...I love that feeling of looking through a viewfinder, finding a composition, taking the image, getting it back, and being able to share that with people. If I put my mind to something, I was going to do it.If you set goals and work towards them, it's gonna happen.[25:25] Have you always wanted to be an entrepreneur?[27:00] How did you get into video?I basically learned on the job which was great because I was getting paid to hone in my skills and become better at this.Everybody watches YouTube videos and now I'm just one of the people who makes them.[31:25] What did that feel like on your last day of your job to quit and go on your own?I don't want to change these things about myself. This is who I am. I'm proud of this. This is what I think is right for me.[37:45] Did you go straight into freelance right after you quit? When you're pretty good at a lot of things, it's hard to release some control and trust other people.I needed to work with people on a more regular basis than just sitting in my condo by myself.Having a partner not only helps keep me sane, it helps me push myself further, and it gives me another creative eye to help look at the stuff that I might oversee. It also gives me more ideas, plus it's a lot more fun to work with somebody than alone all the time.[42:30] Talk about the podcast you started...As I was listening to these a ton, it just became natural for me to want to create my own.I just want to have interesting conversations with people that I might not normally have otherwise, record them, and share them with people. -Tim FerrissIf you do the homework, the test is easy. -Dave Mirra[49:35] What is Break Parallel?[56:55] Has social media helped you over the years?I've definitely had interactions with people that have followed my personal Instagram and have been inspired to make positive changes in their lives just because I set a good example that they can follow. It's a no-brainer, it's 2016 now, so social media is a part of everything.[59:55] Do people always tell you that you're "living the dream?"Yes, this is my dream, but if you have your own dreams, then it's up to you to make it happen. You can have everything else you need, but if you don't have the mindset to make it happen, then you're going nowhere. If there's something ingrained in you that is holding you back, you need to do a little self-analysis on yourself to figure out why you're like that, undo that, then change that about yourself.[1:02:30] What inspires you?[1:04:10] Is there anything unique about what you do?I accel at telling those stories and I accel at that quick workflow that allows me to deliver the product faster than just about anyone else.[1:06:20] Were there things you had to give up early on to get to where you are now?I had given up so much, and didn't even realize it, to have a full-time job.[1:07:25] Any fears you had back then or now?It was hard for me to give it up because it was what I knew and what I loved.Leaving the full-time job? Not so much. But making a full transition to a different industry was a big fear. There was definitely an ego component to it where I enjoyed having a certain status, I enjoyed people knowing who I was. And nowadays that I'm making that transition, I don't really care if people know who I am.I want to do the work that inspires me and that energizes me and that leads me to my goals, but I don't necessarily need to be the face of the work. I'm happy enough now letting the work speak for itself.[1:12:05] Any mastermind groups or mentors in your life? It's so easy to have self-doubts. But maybe that's a good thing because maybe that means you're pushing yourself.[1:14:40] Where did the name Fat Tony come from?[1:16:45] Has there been a moment that stands out that really makes you proud to do what you do?I think the biggest compliment you can ever get is for somebody to say that you've inspired them.[1:20:45] Is being an entrepreneur easier if you're single? This is cool and I'm appreciative, but even though I'm here and doing these things, I'm lonely.[1:22:30] What's a big risk you've taken? If you calculate the risk, then you're probably not gonna have many regrets.[1:23:20] What's the best way to connect with you?Connect with Fat Tony:Website: fattonybmx.comInstagram: @fattonybmxTwitter: @fattonybmxFacebook: facebook.com/fattonybmxBreak Parallel: breakparallel.comThe Expansion Project Podcast: theexpansionprojectpodcast.comPeople, websites, & products mentioned:Best Speech You Will Ever Hear - Gary YourofskyForks Over KnivesCrossFitRob DardenPurePharmaA Day in the Life of Brooke EnceFUEL TVJoe RoganTim FerrissAndy HurleyDave Mirrahttp://theexpansionprojectpodcast.com/Ben BergeronJohn ResigSecrets of the Millionaire MindDarlene AdamusikThanks again for listening and reading the show notes. I know they will bring value to your life and business. --SamT
#QOTD: What's YOUR spirit animal? #TIMESTAMPS 0:49 - If you’re not from an English speaking country, should you produce content in English to reach a higher number of people, or should you produce content in the native language of your country? 1:42 - Trader Joe’s has a cult like following with no social media presences. What are your thoughts? 2:34 - My little sister has Insta and Snapchat but has no interest in FB. What do you think the future holds for FB? 4:03 - Morale in public education is at an all time low right now. How do we create a Thank You Economy Culture despite government mandates, curriculum that isn't effective today, no funding and, most of all, high stress and pressure on teachers? 5:17 - Sprint is taking over the Radio Shack stores, but what is the relevance of Sprint? Is Sprint the new Radio Shack? 6:12 - Would love to hear more on HOW to hustle faster! 6:39 - Last year you nailed it when you recommended we use Medium. What are your recommendations for 2015? 7:19 - How would you market an industry that has negative connotations surrounding it, or one that people only use in emergencies? Like the towing industry for example. 8:23 - Girl Scouts cookies are onsale now. If you were a Girl Scout, how would you maximize your sales? 9:33 - How do you decide what to trust when it comes to news media bias vs fact reporting? 11:04 - How can a small, local non-medical in-home senior care agency incorporate the Thank You Economy into our business with our clients and their families? 12:13 - How do you see the world in 2018ish once the Apple Watch has probably become a vital part in everybody's lives? 13:31 - I use my GoPro for my Instagram on pics. Any tips on differentiating my content from other GoPro accounts? 13:49 - But seriously, though - why are you scared of cows? 14:06 - Some companies' timelines are nothing but apologies (i.e. Comcast). Should they take a break from Twitter to fix their product? 14:24 - Blackberry use to be socially hip. Could a new social media approach make a difference or is it too late? 14:36 - My family has always believed so much in me. Back in the days, were you more afraid of letting yourself down or your family? 15:32 - You get very personal when building your brand with the public. How personal is too personal? Where do you draw the line? 16:26 - I am wondering what you think of Direct Message on Instagram. Is it an untapped resource? 17:35 - How can I engage with an audience who has private interests, i.e., the hair loss replacement industry? They don’t tweet about it and they don’t post on Facebook about it! 20:12 - How would you respond if your wife decided to open up a business as direct competition to VaynerMedia or Wine Library? 20:55 - Why do you put so much emphasis into/on sports/the Jets? 21:49 - I spend 10-15 hours on image posts I make for my company on social media. They are hand drawn as well as computer drawn. I am getting way more 'likes' on my hand drawn lettering posts compared to these non-hand drawn ones. Lettering takes a long time to do, and I don't think I can create that many for daily social media content. What should I do? 23:29 - What's your spirit animal? #LINKS http://cordproject.co/

#QOTD: What's the last app you downloaded? The humanization of business. Manners of Marketing. Thank You Economy. They're all same. Now that the Internet has allowed consumers to have more control, businesses are expected to behave differently and interact with their communities in a way that humanizes their messaging. Unfortunately however, brands haven't fully embraced the mindset that I thought would have been exhausted by now. My prediction with the Thank You Economy was that by 2015 everybody would be on board. Unfortunately, that is not the case. People just haven't adopted it at scale and therefore how can it really be over? Nobody's ruined it. This might actually take forever or never happen at all although I know that those practicing it are getting real results. I see those emails every day. And so, my prediction was incredibly off. It just may never happen at scale because companies can be heartless. Heck, even I'm heartless when it comes to money. I know that business is all about the wallet and I get that, but there's a real financial benefit with TYE mentality. I see the dividends with it each and every day. People are STILL flabbergasted when a company reaches out to them with a half-assed approach, and so I know that the potential is still there, but I'm utterly confused as to how it hasn't been fully adopted yet. It's 2015, people!

"Nobody here is Mother Teresa; we're trying to sell stuff" - Gary VaynerchukUnless you're not familiar with this thing called “the internet," you probably know who Gary Vaynerchuk is. Gary Vaynerchuk is the author of the NY Times best seller, "Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook" which has been making a lot of noise in the auto industry since its release. Gary is co-founder of VaynerMedia, a social media agency. With offices in New York and San Francisco, his company manages some seriously powerful brands on social media and online content strategies, like the NFL, NHL and Campbell's Soup. In April, Gary spoke at the Driving Sales Presidents Club in New York City, where he was dropping knowledge bombs left and right, helping auto dealers with their social media strategies and determining ROI. His guest ‘appearance' on The Dealer Playbook was just as epic! In the DPB podcast this week, Gary talks about: - How there's no Facebook without investing in paid ads - The truth about Facebook ads (& "dark posts") - How to do a Facebook ad campaign or unpublished post - A step-by-step rundown on how to build a successful Facebook ad strategy - Creating content that appeals to your audience's interests based on what's trending Gary is definitely the guy to be listening to when it comes to building a bigger social presence. Welcome to episode #387 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Gary Vaynerchuk is a marketing juggernaut. In everything that he does, he is driven. He calls this drive his "hustle," and he is practically laughing at every other businessperson who doesn't go out there and give it their one hundred percent (while he is busy lapping them). It is the way this entrepreneur, startup investor, professional speaker, media personality and best-selling author operates. He's not even 40 years old yet, and he has already turned the local family liquor store into a $40 million dollar business. In just two short years, he turned his social media marketing agency (that he started with his brother), VaynerMedia, into a 300-person plus bi-coastal enterprise. This past week, he published his third business book, Jab Jab Jab Right Hook (following on the heels of Crush It and The Thank You Economy), that deep-dives into what works for brands in the social media channels. He's someone who knows. With over one million Twitter followers and millions of views for his many different YouTube and video podcast productions, most brands should be paying attention to how he does it. There's so much more to say, but it's probably better (and more interesting) to hear it directly from Gary's mouth. So, enjoy the conversation... If you follow Gary Vaynerchuk (author of Crush It, The Thank You Economy, and the upcoming book: Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy, Social World) you've probably heard that he is doing an interview a day this year and I had the pleasure of chatting with him this morning. In this podcast session we dive into the difference between hustling and just working a lot of hours, work life balance, scaling authenticity and engagement as your audience grows online, why it is never too late to get started, whether or not you should being doing videos online, and even who he wants the New York Jets to draft this weekend. He also gives a rebuttal to the response he received from his post earlier this week on LinkedIn called "My Best Mistake: Too Much Success". My favorite quote from this episode is: "If you've got the content and you find the medium that works for you... the tools don't matter." - Gary Vaynerchuk
I had the privilege to interview Gary Vaynerchuk, E-Commerce Pioneer, Founder of VaynerMedia and Author of “Crush-it” and “The Thank You Economy”. I spoke with Gary about Entrepreneurship, Sales and the latest in tech news.
