When I first started hunting all I wanted was to be able to kill a decent animal occasionally. Now that I have been doing it for a while the real goal is consistent and reliable success. Cody has done a ton of work looking into how to transition from a 101 hunter into a 201 hunter. Another way to say this is he's looked at how to develop systems so that you can reliably kill stuff year after year and stop relying on luck alone. This may be one of my favourite conversations I've had on the podcast yet. What's up ladies and gents. Welcome to the ELK HUNT podcast! This is Cody Rich, if you are new here this podcast feed is a place for all of the Elk hunting interviews I have done over the last 6 or 7 years. This will eventually be one of the largest collections of elk hunting podcast and interviews ever compiled, which is pretty cool and I would love your guys help getting it out there to the world. To do that just leave a 5 star review and maybe tell a friend about it. Much appreciated, and enjoy! Hey If you want to be a good elk hunter there is one thing that I have noticed that every great hunter I have interviewed does that almost every new elk hunter does not. It's having a system. In my own quest to be a better hunter I sent out to learn from all the best hunters out there and the one thing they all have is a system that took them years to develop. Elk Hunt 201 Course Want to become a damn good elk hunter? You could listen to every elk hunting podcast in the world but until you develop a system you are going to stumble around in the woods trying to figure it out. What do every single one of the best elk hunters in the world have after years of honing their skills? a system. A system that allows them to find elk as soon as they hit the ground, get close to those elk, and then capitalize in the red zone. It's not some secret they know that know one else does, it's having a system and putting in the work. After interviewing hundreds of hunters and my own experience from the Oregon cost to the prairies of Montana I have put together my 4 step system in Elk Hunt 201 Course. Want to go from 101 to 201 this is the framework you need. Please note this is not for the newbie. If you are looking for a course on how to gut an animal this is not it. If you have experience but want to get better, go here!

Whats up ladies and gents. Some things I wish I knew about elk hunting 20 years ago? One of the best ways to learn is through failure, but what if you had the opportunity to give your past self some valuable information you have learned along the way. In today's episode I sit down with Cody Rich to discuss what we would tell our past selves and what really matters when it comes to elk hunting. We talk about luck versus consistency, when to be aggressive versus patient, what we truly remember about the hunts and a lot more.
