WA Police have acknowledged that earlier searches in the investigation into the Nannup Four were conducted in the wrong location. Nicole Meyer was abused by paedophile Malka Leifer hundreds of times. The sisters fought internationally to bring Leifer to justice, and what unfolded was years of countless court appearances, dozens of overseas flights, an extradition and a lengthy trial. Leifer faced 70 charges including rape and was jailed for 15 years. When police raided the home of 48-year-old Gary Francis Newman in March 2007, they found him sitting in his lounge room, chatting online with a 14-year-old girl. She thought she was speaking to “Brandon,” a teenage American boy. In reality, Brandon was a persona—a carefully crafted fake identity Newman had used to lure girls online. Felicia Djamirze sits down with Abbie to discuss her incredible story, which she has detailed in her memoir Accessory. On paper, Felicia had the odds stacked against her. Growing up in a housing commission in Western Sydney, she did what she could to escape the cycle of poverty and violence at home. Felicia became a three-time Miss Australia pageant winner, but also became involved with the wrong side of the law. After a raid on her home left her with not only severe injuries, but also a drug supply sentence, Felicia was forced to re-think everything – eventually becoming a counsellor and advocate for women's justice. Maria Korp, a 50-year-old mother of two from Melbourne, went missing in February 2005. She was discovered four days later in the boot of her car barely alive, after being strangled and left for dead. Police first suspected her husband, Joe, but it was more complicated than that. As his mistress revealed, he was the one who provided her with the weapon telling her it was the "only way they could be together." Former detective Narelle Fraser was the one who discovered Maria’s body in the boot that day, 20 years ago. It's a case she will never forget.
