Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky! Tonight, we're diving headfirst into four mysteries that have baffled and tormented curious minds for decades—maybe even centuries. The Taos Hum, the Tunguska Event, strange disappearances in national parks, and the elusive phenomenon of ball lightning. These aren't just weird stories; they're reality-warping riddles. A low, maddening hum that refuses to be traced. A blast so massive it leveled a forest without a trace of impact. Hikers who step off the trail and simply cease to exist. And eerie, glowing orbs that flicker through storms like something out of a fever dream. We've got a packed episode ahead—scientists, researchers, eyewitnesses, and investigators who've dedicated their lives to chasing the unknown. And as we unravel each of these enigmas, I'll be throwing some questions your way—because I want to hear what you think, too. Maybe you're a skeptic looking for a rational answer, or maybe you're the kind of person who thrives on the unexplainable. Either way, you're in the right place. In the 1900s, the sky would be engulfed in flames. It would be unknown for a while what had happened but all anyone knew is the sound could be heard from thousands of miles away. As the flames spread and ultimately subsided, explorers would head in to find trees flattened for several miles all around. Even to to this day we are not absolutely sure what the toll on the life was in the area, just that the numbers of reindeer in the area plummeted. So in todays episode, lets discuss the Tunguska event and figure out what happened! Picture Siberia, 1908. A mysterious, unexplained explosion, eons before the invention of nuclear bombs, rips through the serene Siberian Taiga forest, home to the majestic Siberian tigers. The Tunguska Event, as we'll come to know it, is our focus on this episode of Paranormality UK. We'll transport you to this eerie historic moment, where witnesses reported uncanny lights in the sky and sounds akin to artillery fire, followed by a seismic event that shook the earth across continents. Is it possible that a nuclear test was performed decades before such technology was commonly known? Or could we entertain the thought of extraterrestrial involvement? We spin tales, explore theories and share documented facts, all while traversing the massive expanse of Mother Russia. Engaging conversations on the Tunguska Event, from seismic events to the peculiar air-based shockwave felt around the globe, will make you question everything you thought you knew about unexplained phenomena. As we dive deeper into the cosmic realm, we tackle the speed and size of meteors, their interactions with the atmosphere, and the probability of them hitting Earth. We will also explore how Jupiter, our solar system's muscle man, serves as our protector by annihilating meteors. The episode closes with a critique of the various theories surrounding the Tunguska Event, including the meteorite theory, one of the more popular explanations. Buckle up and prepare for an astronomical adventure that probes the depths of our understanding of Earth's defense system against cosmic threats. *NOTE* - The topic discussion starts at 18:30 On June 30, 1908, something exploded over the forests near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Siberia, flattening an estimated 80 million trees over an area of 830 square miles. And in August of 1590, John White sailed back from England to the family and friends he had left behind at Roanoke, only to find no trace of the colony or its inhabitants. In this episode, Krista and Kurt look at The Tunguska Event and The Lost Colony of Roanoke! And, as always, a taste-test and listener questions!
In this Quick Tok episode, Jack discusses three unbelievable true stories from around the world. The Great Emu War (1932):In Australia, there was an actual military operation known as the "Great Emu War." In 1932, a large number of emus (flightless birds) were damaging farmlands, and the government decided to send soldiers armed with machine guns to try to control the emu population. However, the emus proved to be surprisingly agile and difficult targets, and the soldiers were unsuccessful in their attempts to reduce the emu population. The event has become a humorous and unusual episode in Australian history. The Dyatlov Pass Incident (1959):A group of experienced hikers in the Ural Mountains of Russia mysteriously died under bizarre circumstances. The hikers' tent was found torn from the inside, and their bodies were discovered scattered in the snow, some without proper clothing. Theories about what happened range from avalanches to military involvement to supernatural explanations. The true cause of their deaths remains a subject of speculation and intrigue. The Tunguska Event (1908):An explosion occurred over the Siberian taiga in Russia, flattening around 2,000 square kilometers of forest. The explosion was estimated to be about 1,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The exact cause of the explosion is still debated, but it's widely believed to have been the result of the airburst of a small comet or asteroid, causing a massive explosion upon entering Earth's atmosphere.Email: atozenglishpodcast@gmail.comPodcast Website: https://atozenglishpodcast.com/a-to-z-quick-tok-19-unbelievable-true-stories-from-around-the-world/Social Media:Threadshttps://threads.com/invitation/34520051596/RLLHXJPPFMTFXUHE5NSUT6OLMUSSLEJBUI227Z6DXCO2XVBOWQCK7N4UA to Z Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/theatozenglishpodcastTik Tok:@atozenglish1Instagram:@atozenglish22Twitter:@atozenglish22Check out the Free Online English Lessons YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCds7JR-5dbarBfas4Ve4h8ADonate to the show: https://app.redcircle.com/shows/9472af5c-8580-45e1-b0dd-ff211db08a90/donationsRobin and Jack started a new You Tube channel called English Word Master. And, just to bring a little of the opposing viewpoint, we bring on Len Penzo, from Len Penzo dot com. We also dive into the Top 4 Ways to Invest in Real Estate, (and Paula puts Len in his place after he runs his mouth). If you're thinking about dipping your toe into real estate investing, you won't want to miss this! Be sure to stick around for the continued year-long, nerd soap opera that is our trivia contest - all about the infamous Tunguska Event. Will Len extend his trivia dominance another week? On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we talk about one of the most mysterious disasters of the modern world—The Tunguska Event. Early one morning in the summer of 1908, a massive explosion ripped through the heart of Russia. It was estimated to be around 15 megatons of explosive force that destroyed the land for miles. The common theory is that it was a hard metal asteroid that hit, but the theory loses steam since there is no crater to suggest impact. This leads to massive expeditions into the wilds of Siberia and theories that range from comet tails to subatomic blackholes and even a super weapon developed ty Nicola Tesla! On June 30th, 1908, a mysterious explosion shook the remote Siberian region of Tunguska. The blast flattened 80 million trees across 800 square miles. Every plant, every animal, every insect in the blast radius was vaporized. The shockwave was felt as far away as England. It looked like a comet impact, yet, no crater was found and no debris was discovered. Scientists still can't explain what happened. But... at that exact moment, on the other side of the world, Nikola Telsa was conducting his latest experiment: transmitting massive amounts of electricity through the atmosphere. Tesla activated the generators in his lab and fired up Wardenclyffe Tower for one final, dramatic test: and sent *millions of volts* of electricity into the sky. After the test was complete, Telsa looked at the readings on his equipment and said: "Oh no." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thewhyfiles/support
In 1908 the Tunguska explosion in Siberia knocked down an area of forest larger than London. Most scientists believe that a fragment of an asteroid or a comet caused the blast, but neither a crater nor unmistakable remnants of a meteorite have ever been found. Over the last century, the mysterious nature of the event has prompted a wide array of speculation and investigation, including from science fiction writers and voluntary researchers. Some have even explained Tunguska as a nuclear explosion triggered by aliens. Join us for a presentation by Dr. Andy Bruno from Northern Illinois University, where he will recount the intriguing history of the Tunguska event and the investigations into it.
This week, Cate and Liz are back after a break to round out their series on Famous Disasters. Cate provides one of her famous mashups with updates on the some recent current environmental disasters and a look back at some historic disasters including "The Year with No Summer" in Indonesia, the "Carrington event" in Great Britain, the "Year of the Locust" in the middle United States, and "Tunguska Event" in Russia.
The Tunguska Event is a mysterious event that occurred on June 30th, 1908, in the remote region of Siberia. The event involved an explosion of immense proportions that flattened over 2,000 square kilometers of forest and left no trace of impact. Scientists believe that the explosion was caused by a meteoroid or comet fragment entering the atmosphere and exploding in mid-air. The Tunguska Event has become one of the most studied natural disasters in history, with scientists trying to understand what caused it and how it could have happened. It has also been a source of speculation for many conspiracy theorists, but are any of the conspiracies true? ----------------- This episode was brought to you by the My Two-Cents Podcast! On a clear summer morning in 1908, a bright light was seen in the sky over the Siberian forest around the Tunguska River. Minutes later, a shock wave flattened 800 square miles of forest, killed hundreds of thousands of animals, and blew out windows some 200 miles away from the impact site. But when scientists went looking for the crater, they found no evidence that anything at all had hit the ground. On this episode, we're discussing meteors / comets / asteroids / meteoroids, space grazers, a lake with a weird shape, and what exactly lay at ground zero of the Tunguska Event. Threats from space aren't limited to extraterrestrial life forms. Celestial rockfall can do damage on a global scale — and it already has. From the KT Event 65 million years ago that wiped out the dinosaurs, to the Tunguska Event in 1908 Siberia that felled 80 million trees, cosmic collisions have apocalyptic aftermaths. Luckily for us, systems are being developed to protect our planet — whether from massive stray asteroids, or supercharged solar winds. Learn more about your ad choices. One hundred and fourteen years ago, hundreds of reindeer and a few dozen humans witnessed a massive explosion in Siberia, near the Stony Tunguska River. At the epicenter, there was little evidence of the blast's origin except for flattening 500,000 acres of uninhabited forest, scorching the land, and creating “glowing clouds” and shock waves that were detected around the world.SOURCEShttps://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2008/30jun_tunguskahttps://earthsky.org/space/what-is-the-tunguska-explosion/https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/articles/death-ray-nikola-tesla#:~:text=(Emphasis%20added.),cause%20of%20the%20Tunguska%20event.https://www.nasa.gov/feature/five-years-after-the-chelyabinsk-meteor-nasa-leads-efforts-in-planetary-defensehttps://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation.aspx?paperid=100524https://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/around-the-world-in-4-days-nasa-tracks-chelyabinsk-meteor-plume/https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1993Natur.361...40C/abstracthttps://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-02/best-russian-meteorite-conspiracy-theories/https://adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1978QJRAS..19..282Whttps://as.tufts.edu/physics

Equivalent to an atomic bomb in terms of its destructive power, the Tianqi Explosion is considered one of three major mysteries in recorded history yet to be solved. If you're into solving puzzles, the others two are a 3,600-year-old event called Mound of the Dead that occurred in ancient India and Russia's Tunguska Event that occurred in 1908. Today, we're going to tell some stories concerning a cataclysmic explosion that turned much of Beijing to rubble nearly 400 years ago. Historians estimate that over 20,000 people were killed or injured, but the mystery of what happened has yet to be solved.
On June 30th, 1908, an unprecedented event managed to flattened 800 square miles of pine trees in a Russian forest. Despite being the largest impact in history, the exact cause is still unknown. This is top three of Isabell's favorite topics we've ever covered. The event that happened in Tunguska is so bizarre. Is it possible that a bomb went off and we just have no major evidence to prove it? Or did an alien land down in the area and leave us with more questions than answers? You have to check this one out! We also have two awesome listener stories that we're sure you will love! Isabell graces us with a top three favorite of Andrew's in the Cryptid Catalog segment.
