This episode features a 9 year old kid, Paridhi sharing her thoughts about the Bhagavad Gita, its teachings, and the importance of spirituality across different religions. It explores themes of duty (dharma), the divine nature of Krishna, and the significance of surrendering to God. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for peace among various faiths and the personal growth that comes from understanding and applying the lessons of the Bhagavad Gita in everyday life.
This is a powerful New Moon, marking a partial solar eclipse and the start of the New Lunar Year in the Vedic calendar—a time of profound reset. While it may feel chaotic at first, clarity will emerge in the coming weeks. The eclipse coincides with major planetary shifts. Saturn changes signs and joins most other planets in Pisces, a sign of endings. The eclipse occurs in Uttara Bhādrapada, a nakshatra in deep Pisces associated with spiritual progress—Uttara meaning “latter” and bhādrapada meaning “auspicious steps.” It points us toward truth, though the eclipse itself both conceals and reveals. With Neptune's influence, it may be difficult to discern truth or the right course of action. Eclipses are never ideal for major decisions, and Mercury and Venus are retrograde, adding to the uncertainty. Both will revisit the eclipse degree soon, delaying clarity further.Despite the confusion, grounding ourselves in what is eternal can help us navigate the unknown. This may be a disruptive time, but it is also a transformative one—urging us into new territory while keeping us centred. There are hopeful signs, too. This Lunar New Year is called Viśvāvasu, meaning “beneficial to all.” Still, the changes it calls for won't be easy. The key is to remain open, trusting that all is unfolding as it should. On a deeper level, we see that nothing truly happens—everything simply is.
A total lunar eclipse occurs on March 14, followed by a partial solar eclipse on March 29, coinciding with the New Moon and the New Lunar Year. With so much already happening, you might think a couple of eclipses won't make much difference. Wrong! Eclipses bring major shifts, though their effects aren't always immediate. Changes may be triggered before the eclipse, months later, or in ways we don't anticipate—adding to their ‘fated' feel.As a result, March is a chaotic month. While you may not feel the turbulence personally, the world is undergoing intense change. Keep an open mind, and delay major decisions—you'll likely face delays anyway, so you might as well embrace them.If you make a choice and later have to backtrack—especially with Mercury and Venus retrograde—don't be too hard on yourself. Eclipses create urgency, making us feel we must act to escape uncertainty. This solar eclipse falls in Uttara Phalguni, ruled by Aryaman, the deity of agreements and commitments. But eclipses distort what they touch, so expect challenges in international treaties and personal commitments alike.
AN 8.01 The eight benefits of practicing the meditation on love. AN 8.02 Eight conditions that lead to the arising of wisdom, its growth and perfection. AN 8.08 In a discourse evidently set some time after the Buddha's passing, Venerable Uttara, staying in a distant land, teaches that a mendicant should review their own failings and those of others. Questioned by Sakka, the Lord of Gods, Uttara affirms that he learned this from the Buddha. AN 8.09 The Buddha praises the grace and restraint of Venerable Nanda. AN 8.10 When a certain monk was admonished, he responded by attacking his reprovers. The Buddha tells the other monks to expel him, explaining that when such a monk lives hidden in the Saṅgha, his corruption can spread to the other monks.
On Vyasa's advice Yudhistir decides to perform the Aswamedha Yagna or the horse sacrifice. In the meantime, Uttara gives birth to a still born baby. Krishna revives the child and names him Parikshit. Arjun then follows the horse with his army and wins the confidence of all the kingdoms the horse passes through. The only challenge he had to face was from his son Babrubahan, the prince of Manipur.Find us on:Twitter: @MahabharatAudioFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MahabharataPodcastPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/mahabharata Hosted on Acast. As we study the Paramārthsāra of Abhinava Gupta, a wonderful introductory work on the foundational metaphysics of the Svatantrya Vada (Kashmir Shaivai) system, I felt it would be good to ground ourselves in the other schools of Indian philosophy like Nyāya, Vaisheshika, Sāmkhya, Yoga and Mimāmsa in Purva and Uttara forms as well as Buddhist and Jain schools which were popular at the time when Abhinava Gupta was composing his work so we could really feel into the context in which this profound spiritual tradition has its being. Having already studied Sāmkhya at some length in previous classes, I intended to take up the classical Yoga system of Patañjali in today's class. But then I realized that when we say "yoga", these days, what comes to mind is "modern postural yoga" which has much more to do with the Post Classical Tantrik tradition known as Hatha Yoga founded by the Nath sampradaya than it does with Patañjali's tradition. So I took the opportunity to discuss just how Hatha Yoga fits into the Tantrik world and how it creates our modern understanding of yoga in an attempt to compare and contrast the two different uses of the word "yoga". We talk a little bit at the end about Swami Vivekananda's seminal "Raja Yoga" which I argue is, although certainly a commentary on the Yoga Sūtra, a more syncretic text dealing with Advaita Vedanta and Tantrik Shaivism than with Yoga proper, as per Patañjali's transmission. And also since today is the auspicious day of Varalakshmī Vratam, I thought it would be good to go over the Kamalā Devī Dhyāna mantra: न्त्या काञ्चनसन्निभां हिमगिरिप्रख्यैश्चतुर्भिर्गजैर्हस्तोत्क्षिप्तहिरण्मयामृतघटैरासिच्यमानां श्रियम् ॥विभ्राणं वरमब्जयुग्ममभयं हस्तैः किरीटोज्ज्वलां ।क्षोमाबद्धनितम्बबिम्बललितां वन्देऽरविन्दस्थिताम् ॥kāntyā kāñcanasannibhāṃ himagiriprakhyaiścaturbhirgajairhastotkṣiptahiraṇmayāmṛtaghaṭairāsicyamānāṃ śriyam ॥vibhrāṇaṃ varamabjayugmamabhayaṃ hastaiḥ kirīṭojjvalāṃ ।kṣomābaddhanitambabimbalalitāṃ vande'ravindasthitām ॥Beautiful like gold, bathed by the golden nectar poured from four pitchers from the four trunks of four elephants, she is the Goddess Srī who holds a pair of lotuses in her two hands and with her other two hands shows the vara (boon giving) and the abhaya (fearlessness) mūdras whose head is shining with the splendour of a bejeweled crown whose lovely round hips are raimented in linen/silk...I worship that Lalitā, that playful Goddess who abides in the lotus. “There is no difference between the thumblike Vishnu in the womb of Uttara and the full-fledged Narayana in the Vaikuntha-dhama, the kingdom of Godhead. He accepts the form of archa-vigraha (worshipable Deity) just to accept service from His different incapable devotees. By the mercy of the archa-vigraha, the form of the Lord in material elements, the devotees who are in the material world can easily approach the Lord, although He is not conceivable by the material senses. The archa-vigraha is therefore an all-spiritual form of the Lord to be perceived by the material devotees; such an archa-vigraha of the Lord is never to be considered material.” (Shrila Prabhupada, Shrimad Bhagavatam, 1.12.9 Purport)

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! On this segment we discuss the upcoming full moon that takes place in the sidereal sign of Pisces on September 29, 2023. This is an outstanding period of time that we are entering and this full moon could certainly provoke some necessary changes or initiation for some of us! Uttara Bhadrapada is the nakshatra that the full moon will take place in. This asterism is associated with fortune, luck, and being blessed - while also being associated to a funeral cot. There is so much rich symbolism to explore with this full moon! We take time discussing the astrological influences (some of the most intense of the year...), exploring Vedic references, and philosophizing on the cyclical nature of our material reality. This full moon is preparing us for one of the more intense transits of the year and falls right after the fall equinox. This is certainly a reminder for a "fall cleaning", releasing what is no longer essential in life, taking control of what we can, and finding equanimity in what we cant... Vedic astrology feels sooo vastly complex that it feels like you'll never learn it all! You have personally experienced the healing power of yoga, but can feel overwhelmed or stuck in a rut when trying to choose practices/theme classes—it's hard to know what to focus on It feels hard to find your voice as a yoga teacher - you feel stuck in a rut with cueing or sequencing inspiration, or struggle with impostor syndrome/constant comparison to other teachers Imagine how it would feel to… Feel inspired more consistently, and feel empowered to practice (& teach) yoga more intuitively Experience more clarity around your unique strengths and message, and step into your power more authentically Get a break from the studio-run-around and have a way to work with your students more deeply—by adding astrology readings to your offerings All of this is possible as a Vedic Astrologer, even if you're brand new to it all or it feels overwhelming! And I can't wait to show you how... Astrology for Yogis is a unique course that combines the ancient wisdom of Vedic astrology with the practice of yoga, so you can learn to create personalized and therapeutic practices, and flow more ease-fully with the ever changing tides of life. This course is designed for yoga practitioners, teachers, and enthusiasts who want to deepen their understanding of Vedic astrology (Jyotish) and learn how to use it to enhance their yoga practices and understand chart interpretation well enough to give readings. This founders' round will provide intimate mentorship so that you can discover how the alignment of the stars and planets can guide your yoga practice to flow with natural life-seasons and rhythms of the cosmos, and help you create meaningful and transformative experiences for your classes or home practice. To do that, we'll focus on three things: 1. Learn the Language of Vedic Astrology With an embodied understanding of all the foundational elements of Jyotish, you will be able to confidently interpret Vedic charts (transits—gochara/prashna, and birth charts) without feeling overwhelmed by all the moving pieces to remember. 2. Embody the Energies You will gain confidence in your knowledge of yoga philosophy and interpretation of charts by practicing and building sequences around astrological concepts—this is not included in ANY other Vedic Astrology course! You will also feel more settled in your dharma (right path), as the course will include astrological considerations and yoga practices for finding your authentic voice. 3. Elevate your Yoga Practice (or Business) Elevate your yoga practice by building flows around current transits and learn how to let your home practice flow with the changing tides of the cosmos and seasons Expand your business by including astrological 1:1 sessions (private yoga or birth chart readings) in your offerings. This training will also include considerations for marketing these offerings and approaching them from a trauma-informed lens. Note that it is not required to be a 200 hour yoga teacher to join this course, but my experience has proven that if you're reading this, even if you aren't actively teaching or haven't taken a training, you probably love yoga as much or more as any other teacher! Which means you're a perfect fit for this program. By the end of this course, you will be able to… Analyze birth charts holistically to identify planetary strengths, weaknesses, and karmic patterns Confidently interpret planetary transits and their effects on different areas of life Create and implement personalized, therapeutic yoga practices for challenging planetary placements get on the waitlist now! https://www.yogiscopes.com/afy-waitlist
Hi everyone! Welcome back to AstrologyNow! Wow... this Mercury retrograde is REALLY making itself evident with world leaders as anticipated! We spend some time reviewing the astrology and covering current events. Let's see what happens when Mercury directs on September 14th. In addition to Mercury RX, we also look at Saturn in Aquarius creating the strong focus on artificial intelligence as well as contributing to coups around the world. The new moon coming up on September 14th will be in the sign of Leo, in the nakshatra of Uttara Phalguni. This is actually a *beautiful* new moon and reminds us the importance of living an authentic life. There are so many events through life that can have a negative impact on our own ability to accept ourselves, our dreams, and our potential. This new moon can offer insight, clarity, and confidence in working through some of those illusionary obstacles and connect us back to our core. Listen to the full segment for more! Hello everyone! Happy new moon in the sidereal Capricorn! Capricorn is the sign of the government, finances, and economy. Globally, this new moon may bring more a focus, changes, or shifts in regards to these areas of life! The Sun represents leaders of all kinds. Being in the Saturn-Ruled-Sign of Capricorn, as well as it's current position in the sky, leaders may also be under some pressure! On a personal level, for the past 2.5 - 3 years, there has been a huge focus on the sign of Capricorn in our personal lives as Saturn sat heavy in this sign. This new moon offers us an opportunity to reflect on themes, changes, wins, or challenges for the past few years and integrate any of the major lessons learned during this period of time. Uttara Ashadha literally relates to being "victorious" or "undefeatable". The god associated with Uttara Ashadha is Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles. In this segment, we take some time philosophizing on success, defeat, and how the shift in perception could change what obstacles mean to us. Listen to the full segment to hear more and sign up for patreon - patreon.com/astrologynowpodcast to learn how these shifts will impact you. Consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Talking to Uttara TalapatraUttara Talapatra is a marketeer with 17 years of experience in the FMCG space, having worked with huge brands such as L'Oréal, Titan, and Unilever, among others. She's also a creator with her own podcast aimed at children, Once Upon a Time with Uttara, and four published collections of stories aimed at a general audience - Surprises, Just Plain Bad Luck, Woman on Top, Sleep in Pieces. On how her podcast for children started:When my son was two, I started narrating stories to him. I very quickly ran through the usual list of fairy tales and suggested stories. Also I realized that some of those tales were great for the time they were written, but they may not be relevant to our children today. And those were not the values I wanted him to grow up with.So I started manufacturing and creating my own stories and it quickly became a ritual. This went on for a couple of years and it was only a nighttime ritual between the two of us. [During the pandemic,] I had some extra time on hand, and I converted [the ritual] to a more structured format and that's how the podcast came into being. On her career as a marketeer:Back when I was still completing my MBA, I honestly did not appreciate everything marketing entailed. For me, marketing was only about what I'd seen…As a specialization, It was an airing of work that allowed you to communicate with consumers and therefore pass your message on and try and change their mind about something. That was the core aspect which really appealed to me and that continues to be the most interesting thing I find.On starting a business versus continuing in full-time jobs:If I were to strike out on my own, I don't think it would be by way of a marketing agency. Given the kind of things I'm interested in, it would be more in the space of creating a new brand or offering from scratch. Or I would love to be an entrepreneur in the creative space. On the storytelling point of her podcast:One of the things I was conscious about from day one was that I don't want the stories to be preachy. I don't want them to advocate any particular theme. At no point of time do I try to say this is good and this is bad. We live in complicated times, and if the basic principle of being a good person is taking off, you don't need [lessons like] you have to tell the truth, you shouldn't bully people, you always have to share. It's implied in the story.Uttara also goes into detail on her many series and the creative decisions that went into them in section 3.On conscious parenting and changing herself:Apart from basic safety and care, we realized we want to set as good as an example for [their son] as possible. Like in my stories, I don't want to say and ask him to follow. I would rather do and ask him to follow. We've always encouraged freedom of two-way communication with him… he has a million questions to ask. What we've consciously tried to inculcate and encourage him to do is ask questions, in case something doesn't sit right with him, or if he doesn't understand anything, or if he has a different opinion. We've encouraged that very, very actively.3 pieces of advice she would give to her 20-year old self:* Stand by your conviction. Don't get swayed just because somebody said something or did something.* Persist. Persist in whatever you do, and don't worry about the end-objective. As long as you do whatever you do well, the results will follow.* Enjoy life. Life is too short to be too serious. It's okay. It's okay to put your hair down and chill.Uttara's recs:* Her podcast: Once Upon a Time with Uttara* Her books: Surprises, Just Plain Bad Luck, Woman on Top, Sleep in Pieces.* Instagram: @onceuponatimewithuttara* Facebook: /onceuponatimewithuttaraThorough and Unkempt is a reader-supported publication. I would know, having done it twice already. But I would advise you to savor that difficulty. Learning to manage a house is a huge skillset that goes unappreciated.Even if you're not living alone forever, doing so for a year or two will help you become stronger. The problems of today will be the trifles of tomorrow. And when you then start living with someone else, you will be able to contribute to the house as an equal partner. Definitely try it if you have the opportunity. From Poorvaja: If you had a million dollars, what would you do?So the short and boring answer is that my needs are met with what I'm earning. A million dollars is 8 crore rupees. That's a lot!So because my needs are already met, I'd do the boring thing of splitting it into responsible choices:* Buy a nice house with 2 Crore.* Donate 1 Crore to Charity:Water or other water-based charities such as Cauvery Calling.* Donate another crore to a foundation that works on mental health education and resilience training.* Put away 2 Crore in stable savings instruments.* Put 2 Crore in slightly riskier investments.Sorry I didn't have an answer like buying a really expensive sports car! I'm satisfied with a new Nintendo switch game every few months.

Days passed and the Pandavas had completed almost ten months in the Matsya Kingdom. Queen Sudeshna had a brother, Kichaka, the commander in chief of the Virata's army and extremely proud and vain. King Virata actually was powerless without him. The real ruler was Kichaka. He once saw Draupadi and was smitten by her beauty and wanted her as his queen. While Draupadi had clearly mentioned to Queen Sudhishna that she was already married to five celestial beings and whoever tried to trouble her would themselves be in trouble, but Kichaka wouldn't listen. He insisted on having Draupadi as his queen. One day when Draupadi went near Kichaka's dwelling to perform her household chores, Kichaka started troubling her. She ran from there to the main courtroom but cold Kichaka pushed her down to the ground and insulted her in front of everyone. No one came to her help. Angry and fuming; Draupadi went to Bhima and insisted that Kichaka should be taught a lesson for his behavior. They came up with a clever plan. They put off all the lights of a dark hall. Bhima wrapped a sari around him and sat there like a woman. Kichaka thought it was Draupadi. As he came near, Bhima pounced on him and there was a fierce fight. Bhima with all his anger and disgust crushed Kichaka. Draupadi announced to the guards that her Gandharva husbands were angry with Kichaka and they killed him. Everyone knew how powerful Kichaka was and that no one other than Balarama and Bhima had the ability to kill Kichaka. The news spread far and wide and reached Duryodhana, who was waiting for a chance to find the Pandavas and decided to attack the Matsya Kingdom. As soon as King Virata heard this, he was shaken. He had always depended on Kichaka and without him, he didn't know what to do. Yudhishthira , the advisor reassured him that he was also a good warrior and could help him. He along with Bhima, Nakul and Sahadev went on to fight with Kaurava's army. But Duryodhana's army attacked the kingdom from a different direction. King Virata's son Uttara came forward to defend the kingdom and reached the battlefield with Arjuna as his charioteer. In the battle, Uttara was scared to see the massive enemy's army. Arjuna took him to the Shami tree and asked to pull out the weapons. As soon as Uttara saw the weapons, he recognized Arjuna. Arjuna told him about the other Pandavas who were at the palace and also the reason why they had hidden there. They quickly got onto the chariot and approached the army. Arjuna's teacher Dronacharya and his great grandfather Bhima could immediately make out that the one riding in the chariot was none other than Arjuna himself. Even Duryodhana was jumping with joy thinking that he had found the Pandavas during the anonymous exile year and they will now have to repeat the 13 years of exile again. In this episode, Susan speaks to Uttara Narayan, who explores the governance of the clean energy transition at the World Resources Institute, Chennai, India. Her focus is on expanding the interpretation of a just energy transition to include broader consequences of exclusion and injustice and ways to minimize them in an equitable manner. Uttara's work involves the use of interdisciplinary approaches to address challenges at the intersection of environment, social justice, and development. We discuss larger concerns about climate discourse and the fixation on numerical targets, which swamp all other considerations and often ignore concerns around land, livelihoods, biodiversity, and culture. These issues are often viewed as inconvenient distractions in the movement towards a higher-order climate goal. Uttara speaks in her personal capacity and her views do not necessarily reflect those of the World Resources Institute. Nakshatras demoníacos: Krittika, Ashlesha, Magha, Chitra, Vishaka, Jyestha, Moola, Dhanistha e Shatabishak. Nakshatras humanos: Bharani, Rohini, Ardra, Poorva-phalguni, Uttara-phalguni, Poorva-Ashada, Uttara-Ashada, Poorva-Bhadrapada e Uttara-bhadrapada. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vitoriamorais/message

In this segment we discuss the upcoming new moon in the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is our belief systems, personal philosophy, and our ethics and virtues. We will see these areas of life take precedence as those around us become more vocal about their beliefs and what they believe to be True. Sagittarius is known for being quite radical or potentially dogmatic - so beware of people acting out in radical or unpredictable ways. Getting more specific, the new moon will be in the nakshatra of Uttara Ashadha - or the "latter invincible one". This nakshatra is known for their ethical ways, attachment to virtue, and their inner fortitude. This period is a fantastic time to align yourself with your personal power and live life in a way that is in alignment with what you hold to be True. With the chaos of the outer world, it can be challenging to stay in tune and connected. In this podcast, I discuss strategies for staying connected to your own Truth and resist the urge to give in to the illusion that the outer world has control. We also discuss other astrological ongoings and continue the conversation on great shift, sudden and unexpected events, and change in our government and governmental structure.
